Super cool historic hotel. I love how all the shops, restaurants, brewery, and winery are connected, especially in the winter in Duluth!

Have stayed at Fitger's several times over the past years. We made this reservation back in February. When we arrived, we were informed that Fitger's had 'recently' implemented a parking fee of $9 per night, plus tax. We pointed out the time of reservation there was no notification of a parking fee. We were told that the fee was retroactive to prior reservations. Since we had already driven a couple of hours, we had no choice but to pay the charge of $19.60. We will not be returning.

Everything was great, except after we went out for dinner we came back and there were no parking spots within a mile of the building. So we had to park across town, Uber back to the hotel, then Uber back to the car in the morning. Even the valet spot was full.

Dont have a pool

Getting to our room on the fifth floor from the parking area was a painful challenge (lots of steps and walking) fo a pair of arthritic 70 year olds. Confusing time getting around. Believe it or not, this property is a couple of winding city blocks worth of strip mall shops and a five story hotel - all under a common roof! There are LOTS of stairs and two or three different elevators sprinkled throughout that will take you in Twilight Zone fashion to different unfinished attic areas - instead of the fifth floor penthouse when you press "5" in the "wrong" one. Why the 5th Floor button is not locked out to non-employees in some elevators is a good question. A laminated map posted every 100 feet like you see in most malls with a "you are here" legend would also have been welcome. We were perpetually lost and never ever quite understood how we finally (after many attempts) found our room. Even a simple paper map might have worked. My wife's a retired Registered Nurse and I'm a retired Electrical Engineer - no strangers to following procedure. LOL. In spite of this, the hotel staff here were all the most kind, respectful and energetically helpful young people that we've encountered in decades. No woke antisocial behavior here at Fitzgers and "hats off" to the very fine folks here in Duluth, Minnesota, who raised them. Would we come back again? Yes, because of the fine staff, who make this place work, but only if a first floor room was available. Thanks!

Check in was fast and easy, free valet parking is a bonus and hotel proximity to the boardwalk is nice!

I did a lot of research before picking Fitgers for our Duluth vacation. We were pleased with the choice. Great hotel with lots of shopping and dining options. Easy access to the lake walk. It was fun to be part of the history of an over 100 year old brewery property.

Staff was great! Loved the free shuttle. Lake view was amazing. I love how there are many things to see and do within walking distance.

Fitger’s staff was very helpful with check-in, valet parking and shopping/dining ideas. Everything is super convenient and close by. However, if you want to explore further there is a free shuttle. The rooms are quaint with a great view! We’d stay again!

Finally staying at Fitgers after visiting all these years was cool. Check-in was a breeze. Room was nice, if a little rundown. View of the lake was terrific. Access to the lakewalk trail and boardwalk were great. Bathroom ceiling was peeling. Toilet seat peeling. Bathroom counter needs an under-shelf. Red sitting chair needs a more serious cleaning.

Loved I was able to go grab a few unique beverages from the local store within the building. However, the facility was very dirty. Scuff marks everywhere; Cobwebs in the windowsill; tons of dust to the point I needed to get a Benadryl (thank goodness the front desk had some, but I paid for them. Under the furniture wasn’t vacuumed in a very long time nor were the 20’ curtains & walls. Beautiful hotel; just needs a cleanly type A person to get it back to a 5 star hotel.

The facility needs a good cleaning and update of the building and infrastructure.

It was ok, hot water wasn’t working so they came and fixed it while we were at dinner, disgusting brown running down toilet that I had the gross pleasure of looking at when I took a bath, they said maintenance couldn’t clean it they had no keys to get in maids closet to clean found that quite unbelievable but whatever, put a towel over toilet so I wouldn’t puke…..

We enjoyed our deluxe room at the historic Fitgers. We loved the Boat Club restaurant- many gluten free options. Shopping was also wonderful. A few things that could be improved upon: 1) our room was not ready at three. We were told that we would receive a text when it was ready. At 4:30 I called and the room was ready although no text was sent. 2) There were crumbs not cleaned up from the previous guest and the alarm clock was on the floor hiding (I didn’t discover it until we were checking out). Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.

Parking is a challenge but there is valet service. Our room was too dark but appointed well. It's an outstanding older hotel but too expensive.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The hotel is in a perfect location—an easy walk to shops, restaurants, and the lakewalk. My room was clean, quiet, and nicely designed, with a beautiful view of Lake Superior. The shower was especially nice—spacious with great water pressure. One small downside was that I couldn’t seem to regulate the room temperature, even though the thermostat made it seem like I could. Also, while the mattress wasn’t quite the right fit for me personally, others might find it perfectly comfortable. Overall, a lovely place to stay with stunning views and unbeatable walkability.

Not a good choice if you enjoy sleeping. The staff was courteous and pleasant – unfortunately we were placed in an adjoining room and the noise coming through the door was unbelievable, though our neighbors weren’t being loud. We could the sound of zipping their bags and their voices sounded like they were in our room. Hopefully Fitger’s can figure out some additional soundproofing measures!

We had a good stay. Great location. Very nice property. The only problem we had were, we stopped in at 11 am and are room wasn't ready. We expected that. But they said they would expedite the cleaning. We stopped back at around 4 and the room still wasn't ready. Also the HVAC units are very old and the one in our room was noisy and the thermostat did not appear to work. We just shut it if and we were comfortable.

This historic hotel is an excellent getaway for any occasion! Updated bathroom and lake view were the best part. Love the high ceilings!

It was our first time in Duluth, just for a quick 24 hour mini vacation and we wouldn’t stay anywhere else! Great people, great historic building and awesome rooms and views!

location is good and valet service is a help to us. 3 steps in many of the rooms should be shared with people making reservations so they are aware. Lighting on first step down is okay but at night, it doesn't go on when you reach the edge of the steps to go down.

Fitgers was fantastic! The building was very cool with lots to do in the surrounding area. Bonus points for high ceilings and a pillow menu!

great location on the lake walk, with stores and restaurants available. room was nice, view was great. coffee maker did not work well, filled up with water and i had to depress the tab to get the (HOT) water to flow out. disappointing interaction at the desk at check out. asked for tea in the breakfast room, was told there was tea in the room - well, there is coffee in the room too but coffee was available with the snacks. clearly disinterested in my experience with my stay and simply ready for the guest to leave. the check out experience tainted my whole stay, as the clerk had to drag herself away from her phone, and the extent of the interaction was literally a grumbled 'anything else? good bye' ... no 'how was your stay', no 'have a good day' and just the dismissive answer to my tea inquiry. i do expect a smile and friendly interaction for this price hotel. disappointing. loved the location, staff interactions ruined it, would not go back, too many better options than to deal with this again.

My friend and I stayed unexpectedly due to a power outage at our planned hotel. Staying at Fitger’s was the best decision we could’ve made! Checking in with Geoff was amazing. He went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. Our room was beautiful and we loved all the options for dinner and drinks. I’ll definitely be back (as a first choice hotel, not a backup plan!)

Great location and onsite shopping, food and drinks. Did not care for the lack of valet on arrival. Had to carry luggage up several steps.

The staff at the front desk was exceptional. They addressed a safety concern about our room and were quick to offer a different room that included an upgrade. We had a wonderful stay at Fitgers, enjoying two of their onsite restaurants and shopped at several appealing stores in the complex. We like the central location and the beautiful lake views. We'll definitely return to Fitgers.

Great old Historic Hotel right on Lake Superior. Walking distance to great restaurants nearby and also restaurants and shopping under one roof at the hotel.

Had a very good stay. Coffee was a little weak and Continental breakfast could have been better. Service Was excellent! Wish discount at the Boathouse was automatic as we forgot to present coupon twice. Great historic location.

Lakefront views, very good coffee available at front desk. Historic building with display of items from its past. I didn't like that the breakfast dining facility wouldn't let me bring my coffee into their dining area (the hotel coffee was much better than what they served in the breakfast dining facility).

We very much enjoyed Fitger's! Our server, Naomi, at the Boat House restaurant was amazing!

Love the location and shops located on the property! For the price it should include breakfast. One hiccup-TV went out on our last night. Upside- staff was very accommodating and pleasant. We had a nice stay.

Fitgers Inn - good and bad. It is a unique and interesting hotel with a lot of options for lunch, dinner, drinks and some shopping. Our room was very nice. Front desk and valet teams were great! Downsides: The walls of our room were very thin or whatnot and we were woke up by our neighbors who came in later and were a bit loud (not excessive but the thin walls seemed to be more of the problem). Breakfast - there is only one place to get breakfast in the entire facility (the Boat House) and while it was not even half full, we were turned away. They had allowed a large group in and said they couldn't handle us unless we had a reservation - which really makes no sense. Very disappointing as we did not really want to drive all looking for a breakfast spot.
