The building was really great, interesting how it was broken into different areas. The ability to use bicycles was really cool and I was sad I didn’t take advantage of that. Unfortunately some other guests did not clean up after their pets and there was poop in the alley getting to parking. No elevator, just fyi if you stay or any upper floors. Great and helpful staff. Easy to check in and out!

Staff and air conditioning is great. Parking is okay. It is cheaper to park on the street but can be difficult to find a spot at night. Location is the best. It is close to so many good restaurants. Our room can be bigger though. We will use this place again.

They don’t include information in regards of that you do need to pay extra $25 dollars per day out of your pocket or else find free parking outside of the hotel which it felt unsafe and not secure leading for couple of homeless people on the sidewalk throughout day and night

A very nice hotel right in the heart of Long Beach. Check-in was very easy and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There are bikes you can use at no extra cost, and there is a big communal kitchen with complimentary coffee and bottled water which is a really nice extra. The room was quite small but fine for me travelling alone. Bed is comfortable and everything works great. The room had a microwave and fridge, and a couple of bowls, cups and cutlery which is very useful. The supermarket (Vons) just down the road is handy if you're on a budget because you can get groceries there and cook meals in the hotel kitchen. There is no elevator but I didn't mind that personally, but maybe it's important to mention for others. I would definitely like to stay here again if I come to Long Beach in the future.

We LOVED our stay at Hotel Royal! The staff was super friendly and accommodating! We arrived at 11:30am (check in wasn’t til 3) and they held our bags for an hour as we grabbed a bite to eat and then they texted us that we could check in early! We got to the room and it was very clean, open and airy. It even smelled clean! Loved it. So nice. Also our favorite part was that we got to use their complimentary bikes both days of our stay. We used them to see ALL of Long Beach. It was a great way to get around and made our stay so much easier and cost effective! Really great experience and would highly recommend!

They had bed bugs - we should have known better than to trust it once we saw the area it was in. You have to park in an alley that is littered with trash and dark - it makes you feel very unsafe. When the concerns were raised, the front desk receptionist simply said that they are just an employee and could not do anything. The health department should look into this hotels cleanliness.

This place is located in the middle of everything! The location is perfect!! We were able to walk everywhere. The only bummer was that the room and restroom was dirty and the floor was sticky. It made sticky noises when we walked. If they clean better I would consider staying here again. The fan was wired wrong or they have ghosts. lol! It kept turning on even after we turned it off over and over. The light would turn on or off and the TV turned on twice on its own. The restroom sink was very small. No room to set anything on it. The walls are thin so you can hear everyone. But I knew that based on the other reviews. Not a deal breaker. I just have a weird thing about dirty restrooms.

There are no elevators so we carried our luggage up and down 2 flights of stairs. Did not get clean towels. I text to request some and was told to pick them up at the front desk. There was a bug and durty toilet seat in the bathroom. The ceiling was covered in dust, which tells me the cleaning staff is not thorough. I didn't feel comfortable enough to actually stay the night.

Older small hotel. Multiple roaches in hallway and in room 9. Staff and management very apologetic and gave full refund. We did not stay the night and checked into another hotel. No elevator. No one to assist carrying luggage up the stairs. Stairs and lobby did not seem cleanest either and strange smell.

There were lots of restaurants within walking distance, but we didn’t see a lot of people walking anywhere which made us feel a bit uncomfortable thinking that maybe we were not located in a safe place. The shower was tiny. Bed was comfortable. The room was dusty and could have been cleaner. The stairs leading up to our room looked as though they had never been vacuumed. They were also very steep. The staff and the service were very good, but we wouldn’t stay here again.

Hotel was clean, but we were not advised that there was no elevator and we got a room on the third floor Kind of difficult for two senior citizens with their luggage because we were going on a cruise the next day The room that we got was tiny. The bathroom did not have a sink. The sink was outside of the bathroom and you have to go around the bed to get to the sink to wash your hands which was kind of ridiculous.

The bathroom was also tiny—the sink was only the size of a palm, and the shower just barely had enough space to stand in (and I’m relatively slim, yet I often bumped into the walls). The window curtain was broken and dusty. There was a smell of recent renovation in both the room and the hallway. The hotel had no elevator at all. The hotel offers bike rentals and a shared kitchen, which is great, but bikes are very easy to get stolen in California. Mine was stolen, and I had to pay $150 for the lost.

Basic accommodations. Great value. Small rooms. Firm, comfortable beds. Plenty of hot water in bathroom. Three floors with stairs, no elevator. Communal kitchen on first floor. Seems like a converted boarding house. Short walk to Metro rail. If you just need a place to get a good night’s sleep this place is a good choice. I would stay here again.

I never stayed in such a small room. I travel a lot but this was the first time I couldn’t walk around the bed. The standard bad got the whole room, literally! The room was supposed to accommodate 2 people but my husband and I were literally with no space to move. The room was so small that there wasn’t a place to open my luggage and the shower was so tiny that we could barely clean ourselves. Finally, after spending a night in this micro room, I asked the receptionist if there were bigger rooms and she found me a way better one, but she also charged me extra $105… The second room was way better. I still do not understand why they wouldn’t explicitly describe that that room is very small and it is just for one person max in their website. Honesty would be appreciated.

This was my second time at this property. The first time was in a larger King Room. The bed was dreamy!!! I decided to come back but because I was by myself I took a double room. The bed was good but not as soft. The room was very small and wonderful. I really love the minimal space usage. It was a small room but plenty of room for me and my things. My husband surprised me and showed up. Even with him and his things we had plenty of room. The bed was good as well even for the two of us. My husband is 6'2" and he slept well. Great Hotel!!! Great Prices!!!

The hotel was very quaint and the gentleman who checked us in was extremely nice and friendly. However, the overnight attendant seemed extremely annoyed that we asked for a few extra towels (which had random long hairs on several of them). Both the sink and the shower drains were slow-draining. We had to keep stopping the water, esp in the shower, to keep it from overflowing. The sofa-bed was extremely rickety. My daughters were afraid it would flip over whenever they got in and out of it.

This hotel is for sure a 3-star. It started when we got there and they waited 5 minutes before our room was supposed to be ready to inform we would in a separate building. I asked a question about whether our bags could be brought over and he said, "As I said, they will be." That is not how you speak to guest and in fact is rude. The room and bed itself was not dirty but the towels weren't white and the bathroom lacked a through cleaning in between guest. The front desk person while nice when awake because he kept falling asleep. I think it would be beneficial to tell people that you all don't have an elevator and would expect people to carry your luggage up and down all those steep stairs. Overall not a terrible stay could of been a lot better 3/5.

We LOVED our stay at Hotel Royal! The staff was super friendly and accommodating! We arrived at 11:30am (check in wasn’t til 3) and they held our bags for an hour as we grabbed a bite to eat and then they texted us that we could check in early! We got to the room and it was very clean, open and airy. It even smelled clean! Loved it. So nice. Also our favorite part was that we got to use their complimentary bikes both days of our stay. We used them to see ALL of Long Beach. It was a great way to get around and made our stay so much easier and cost effective! Really great experience and would highly recommend!

Convenient if you’re taking the ferry to Catalina; the hotel is just a 7-minute drive away. It’s also close and walkable to many shops and restaurants. Bed was very comfortable. Would stay here again if I was in Long Beach.

They don’t include information in regards of that you do need to pay extra $25 dollars per day out of your pocket or else find free parking outside of the hotel which it felt unsafe and not secure leading for couple of homeless people on the sidewalk throughout day and night

Very quaint old hotel. Only here for one night and it was perfect. Lots of eateries in area. Hotel supplies offers free coffee, tea and water. Our room had a microwave & small fridge. Staff was terrific. Very accommodating.

The outside of the building was not very attractive but the staff were wonderful and the inside of the room was spotless and very comfortable. I like the walkability of the neighborhood. We actually walked all the way to the cruise ship the next day. Good food in the neighborhood.

Easy check in .. my room was in an annex next door… great stay .. only issue is as a boutique hotel no elevator/lift… trying to lug 3 pieces of luggage up and down the stairs was a headache.. also no breakfast places nearby that open before 8am…

Staff and air conditioning is great. Parking is okay. It is cheaper to park on the street but can be difficult to find a spot at night. Location is the best. It is close to so many good restaurants. Our room can be bigger though. We will use this place again.

A very nice hotel right in the heart of Long Beach. Check-in was very easy and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There are bikes you can use at no extra cost, and there is a big communal kitchen with complimentary coffee and bottled water which is a really nice extra. The room was quite small but fine for me travelling alone. Bed is comfortable and everything works great. The room had a microwave and fridge, and a couple of bowls, cups and cutlery which is very useful. The supermarket (Vons) just down the road is handy if you're on a budget because you can get groceries there and cook meals in the hotel kitchen. There is no elevator but I didn't mind that personally, but maybe it's important to mention for others. I would definitely like to stay here again if I come to Long Beach in the future.

The pictures of the place are deceptive. Pictures make it look modern; it is not. It's basically an old apartment building re-done to be a hotel. And it's not the one you think it is from the picture in the ad. If you're looking for a Hilton-type place this is not it. I find all the "10, exceptional!" reviews really, really confusing. It's not that it's bad, it's just that it's old-ish and feels like it. Our place was clean, so no worries there. But the fold-out bed was crappy (uncomfortable, low quality), and the ad in hotels.com makes it look better than it is. I would have no complaints it had been $70/night. But at the prices they're asking, you expect a modern, Best Western type of experience.

I had an amazing time here. Staff was amazing too. Bed was so comfortable and the satin sheets were a nice touch to making you feel like luxury was apart of your stay. Kudos all the way around.
