Unico Hotel Riviera Maya Adults Only

My husband and I booked a baby moon/anniversary stay at this resort in early April 2026. We were looking for a place to just relax for an entire week and really just do nothing! This was the perfect resort for just that. We were able to lay around at the quiet pool for an entire week without having to cook any food or go anywhere. The staff constantly took care of all of our needs, getting us drinks and food whenever we wanted it! Since I’m pregnant, it was really nice to see that they offered mock tails both at the pool bars and also at each of the five restaurants.The resort is truly a five star resort, and it is kept up very well. I was impressed by the food choices, and the breakfast buffet was my favorite every day. We tried all of the restaurants except for the French restaurant, as we are not big on French food, but we heard really good things about that restaurant as well. The whole time we were there. Our room looked just like the photos on the website and it was spacious and beautiful. The negatives were the staff trying to sell us on a timeshare when we were checking in and checking out. This left a bad taste in our mouths right away and made us uncomfortable. When we are spending this much, I don’t expect them to sell to us like that.Also, the beach here is not very nice at all, and we were unable to spend any time by the water. The beach is dirty and is not kept up, and it was red flag every day that we were there.

We fell through the cracks at check-in. We were not given information about the services, property, restaurants, etc. We traveled with another couple and in the process of finding a joint "concierge" we were left for almost an hour with no information. Once we were given our rooms, we also did not receive information about the large property until we asked for it. It took us a while to figure out the amenities and activities (into the next day). We were given some perks by the management (a cabana for the day) to make up for the faulty start, but it colored our stay and the four of us ended up feeling that we would not return.

We had an ocean view room and it was perfect! The food and drinks were 10/10! We love the lobby bar and the coffee shop. The hotel smells amazing and is really beautiful. The staff is so kind and helpful. Josue was our lovely host and he put champagne and balloons in our room for my birthday and checked in with us everyday to see if we needed anything. All the pool servers were excellent, especially Uriel and Cony. My only complaint is I wish this hotel would STOP with the upsell push. It is egregious. People are exhausted after a long travel day and they make the checkin process way too long by making you sit in the lobby- while it is beautiful- and wait for at least 3 different people to come talk to you. We almost never came back after our first trip because of this. They did not attempt the sell job as bad as last time because I made it clear in my booking notes, but checkin still took almost 30 minutes and there was no other guests in the lobby. I highly suggest they stop doing this. It is a major turn off. Otherwise, the hotel and restaurants and staff are top notch!

Pool was cold but view was amazing.

Room was good, needs a bit of updating though. Didn't like the food at all, especially pastries and bread Pastries were not fresh even at breakfast buffet, taste like sponge. Service was great.
