Fantastic stay. We loved the hotel and the upper floors lounge on floor 3. The bed was extremely comfortable and our studio suite was a great value for a family of 3 given the proximity to Central Park. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. I would stay here again without hesitation.

I returned to the property with high expectations. However, this time around was not as expected. Our room wasn’t ready due to a linens issue. And then, there was an elevator issue causing delays for tons of guests. We were on a high floor making it inconvenient to use the stairs. I would think they’d reprogram the elevators to accommodate the faulty elevator.

The Thompson Hotel is so well placed for many big NYC attractions and has a large room square foot compared to some others. Family of 4 including 2 teenage sons all fitted in together. We didn’t use the Spa or bar but the Burger Joint at the back is a great addition.

We really enjoyed this hotel. We were on a higher floor and had access to the lounge. The room we had was beautiful, comfortable, and so stylish. The lounge was great and I wish we had more time there.

Great, place ease of going in, out and around to and from Thompson. Parking or lack of parking was only issue. Although, valet took care of it for us, it was an awesome stay.

The hotel was great and the high floor lounge was great! One suggestion, the hotel is classy and expensive. The lounge is a perk for people paying for a higher price one let the guest have a free glass of wine or beer. Don't charge them in an "honor" bar style. Very tacky. Not to mention , you're serving crap, $15/bottle of wine so it costs you $3.00/glass to give a guest a glass of wine. Just food for thought. Otherwise the hotel and lounge were great!!

Stayed 5 day/night during the July 4 holiday. Room was good, staff was nice but hotel has no pool. However the location is excellent, 4 blocks in either direction was Central Park or Times Square, and great shopping nearby.

Arrived room was ready at check in and we were sent up. The room had a fridge that had not been cleaned and had old, rotting food (not sure how long it had been there) had to call 3 times to have it removed. We were a party of 3 which meant we needed to use the pull out sofa but there were no linens or duvet for it. That required two trips from housekeeping to get right. We were credited a small amount but the credit wasn’t written down so that took two calls to clear up. Lots of glitches in the management however everyone was pleasant but one expects a little more for $700 a night.

Close to main touristic places and Central Park. The room was OK but windows extremely dirty. Perhaps it is just what New York is like. Breakfast extremely overpriced for what you get served. Instead I suggest any nearby place that you can find on Google.

An unforgettable New York stay! The room was spotless, beautifully designed, and surprisingly quiet for being in Midtown. This location cant be beat, steps away from Central Park and great restaurants. I'd definitely stay there again.

Everything was great except upon arrival my room had a dirty toilet and it was backed up. They quickly rectified it and upgraded me to a higher floor. Unfortunately, the toiletries in the room were half empty and what was used by me was not replaced for my second day.

EXTREMELY over priced tourist trap. Our room was not ready at check in time and we were made to wait an hour for a room. The room was the size of a shoe box, had a weird smell, and the carpet was stained and dirty. Stay Away!!!!

We arrived 2 hours after check-in and the room was not ready. The fan in the bathroom was broken and it never got fixed. The room was a decent size, but the shower was half open and water sprayed out everywhere. There were no bath mats in the room and when I asked for one they brough a towel and said they were out of bathmats. The trash was not removed when daily housekeeping came. Room service was below average. The Thompson was not what I expected to say the least.

The gentleman at the desk when we checked in was lovely. Gave us a free upgrade. Only wished we stayed longer as we loved our tower room. The faucet in the bathroom sink was placed at an awkward spot on the side of the sink. Water on the counter around it was an issue. The control wasn’t that easy to use. The shower floor got very slippery and the was nothing to hold on to. Wish there had been a drawer or two in the bathroom for cosmetics etc. The room was great size. Bed was comfortable.

The first room was large with minimal storage. The bathroom was ridiculously small with zero storage. All our toiletries had to be set up in the room. The shower had half a glass enclosure which made for a very cold shower and wet bathroom. There was a constant tuning fork like sound that kept us up all night. We switched to a handicap room the next night which thankfully was very quiet through out the night, but not the morning. This room was smaller than the first room but with a bigger bathroom. Still zero storage in the bathroom and one small yellow light that lit up the bathroom like a scene from a horror movie. Doors started slamming in the hallway by 6:30AM and you could hear housekeeping in the hallways. So no sleeping in. Breakfast was fine, but they are clearly understaffed and took forever. $162 for two omelettes, two cappuccinos and two bowls of berries. No doorman to help you catch a taxi. There are better places to stay in New York for the same price. Won’t be staying here again.

The room was very small and the beds were not only tiny but the most uncomfortable beds ever! We ended up leaving a day early. Paid $2,300 for two nights and only stayed one! We couldn’t do it one more night there. Won’t ever stay again.

When booking a hotel near Central Park with nightly rates ranging from $450 to $750 and above, certain standards are expected—particularly in comfort, design, and service. Unfortunately, this property fell short on several fronts. The bed was noticeably old and uncomfortable, making it difficult to get a good night’s rest. The room layout was not suited for business travel, with limited workspace and a poorly designed bathroom. The sink and surrounding counter space were minimal—barely adequate for one person, let alone two. Even the towels felt thin and worn, which only added to the sense of neglect. Surprisingly, no bottled water was provided in the room, and I had to call to request one. At this price point, that level of detail should be automatic. The executive lounge breakfast was underwhelming—standard continental fare that didn’t match the expectations of a premium hotel. Worse, the atmosphere was disrupted by staff vacuuming near guests without consideration, making it nearly impossible to hold a conversation. In short, if this were a $150–$250 per night hotel, I might overlook some of these shortcomings. But at this price—and for a Hyatt property in such a prime location—I expected more. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.

The hotel is in a great location and was nice compared to many NYC hotels. But our shower would flood even in a 3 minute shower and because it was open it would then flood the bathroom. We reported the issue twice during our stay and were told it was fixed each time, yet it remained a constant problem. Also, the blinds wouldn't open. The hotel only offered reward points as compensation. It was frustrating. I would have enjoyed a better stay experience than the reward point to stay again.

My wife had a pretty terrible check-in experience. While she was greeted warmly at the ground floor and directed to an upper floor for an upgraded check-in, on the upper floor, she was met with an endless hassle. First, they demanded a reservation number. I was at a meeting, my wife had to call me, I gave the reservation number. Then they demanded a different reservation number. She called me again, I gave the different number. Then they demanded a screenshot of the reservation. She called me again — third interruption of a meeting! I sent a screen shot. Yes, I could have added names to the reservation (but Hotels.com doesn't make that simple). But no, it shouldn't be this difficult — and certainly, your agent at your upgraded checkin station should be be so rude. If we wanted the Holiday Inn experience, we would have picked a Holiday Inn.

We were not able to get into our room for more than 5 hrs after check in time due to rooms not being clean. We were initially told that it would be an hour wait at most. We were not even able to get into our original room (a suite) and we eventually were given two rooms for the first night. We then had to move rooms to the suite on the second day. It was super inconvenient and we missed out on some sight seeing/dinner because of it. The people working there were nice but didn't make the situation right and it soured the experience for me. We also tried to go to the burger place there after missing out on dinner, but the line was so long that we didn't stay. Rooms and property were otherwise nice and location was good.

The rooms and everything was great with one exception... I requested for ice cubes at the service desk as I returned to the hotel needed to wait more than 2 hours to get ice cubes in my room at 1AM. I told guest services that I'd be happy to grab them myself if they were too busy, but they did not have any machines that guests could access. They could've told me they didn't provide the service (which would be disappointing for a considering this is a luxury hotel..) if they didn't have the capacity, and I would've grabbed a bag of ice at Duane Reade. I've called guest services at least 5 times to understand what was going on and every time she'd be like 'ah, you need to wait' 'still time to wait dear..' 'I know how you feel' I lost an hour's sleep for waiting...

The Staff was amazing ! They took over when I needed to get my 96 year old Dad to a taxi since our personal driver got delayed in heavy traffic. Two of the staff helped w/ getting him to the closest corner, got a Taxi for us and helped get him in the Taxi and our luggage ! They are Angels and will forever appreciate their kindness !!! Will recommend to anyone going into NYC !!! Blessings to all of you !

Great location, right across from the Carnegie Club, a few blocks from Central Park. Quieter than hotels closer to Times Square, which for us was a plus. Only major complain had nothing to really do with the hotel - it was all the construction going on around.

If you want the full NYC experience, this is the place to stay! Within walking distance of Central Park & all the midtown sights. Staff was outstanding & the lounge (Parker’s) has a really good vibe & was a great place to get a cocktail. We will definitely be back!

But the service in the restaurant, especially at breakfast, was astonishingly bad. They seemed very understaffed for the Friday and Saturday I was there. Like as in waiters not wanting to make eye contact for fear you might ask for a second cup of coffee! An easy fix, though

Great bellman, valet and concierge level service. Top notch. We stayed on the Upper Stories and we highly recommend this. The concierge level was great and it was super convenient to have food available all day with two kids in tow. The breakfast has some items that are warm (could be kept warm a little better ) and fresh fruit, coffee, bagels and salmon. There was also a big variety of drinks on hand. The room was clean and spacious and AC worked great in our room but not in my parents room. The thermostat needed new batteries. Only complaint was that I waited 30 min for toilet paper to be delivered to my room and it finally came after the third call- waiting for tp when you have to go to the bathroom is no fun. Location is safe and close to Central Park and Carnegie Hall and everything! Would stay again at a Thompson!
