Our entire hotel had no water for about 24hrs, it was 98° and we couldn’t take a shower or flush the toilet, the staff friendly but didn’t have the foresight to hand out bottle water r to their guest so we could brush our teeth and wash our hands, they said they are give refunds for one day but I’m not holding my breath on that

The hotel is older but I really liked the style of it. The price for the location is great. Desk staff were wonderful. We had a room with one king bed and the size was good, room was comfortable and the window AC unit kept up with the 37 degree heat. Not a good hotel if you are planning to have a lot of meals in your room - no fridges/microwaves. We were only there for a few nights so this was not a problem. I will stay here again if I am back in NYC.

It was like walking into a 1950's movie with the decor and furniture. No bellhop. 2 elevators; one with a 4 person capacity and the other with a 6 person capacity. Smallest hotel bathroom ever. Their website is terribly misleading. They show a full bar, but the bar has not been in operation for over 10 years. The fire alarm on my floor had tape on it stating out of service. It doesn't offer any type of food or drinks including water. And speaking of water, Saturday morning the hotel's entire water shut down for hours. Just to name a few. Expedia should be embarrassed offering this location as part of a package. I will NEVER let Expedia pick a hotel for me and I doubt I will ever use them for air travel any longer.

The facility lost water around 4pm there waa none for the rest of the night. When it came back on the was no hot water for the rest of the day. Checked on the next morning. Facility is fine, the staff is very friendly. I dont think the loss of water or lack of hot water is common there.

The room was clean but basic and dated. The noise level was problematic. We dealt with a lot of noise from the pipes every time anyone used the bathrooms above us. One of two elevators was broken and the one still working took forever. The location was great though.

The hotel is conveniently located near Times Square and other attractions. The staff was nice. The downsides were that the room was not sound proof; we could hear noises in the hallway and from outside. The windows in our room were face to a wall, with no view and sunlight. Also, the bedsheet did not feel clean: we found some hair, and it was itchy.

The hotel is in a great location, but the rooms are sooooo small. 120 sq. ft. for 2 people is so tight with a double bed! No room to walk or open your suitcase. I had to work in the room and there is no table or chair to work! It was nuts. Also, the A/C was incredibly loud and kept turning on and off every 5 minutes all night. The noise didn't bother us, but the turning off and on kept waking us up! When I spoke to the front desk, we were asked if we weren't sure it was something outside? (We were sure.) We asked to be moved to a different room. They did move us, but they acted like they were giving us the grand suite. It was a 130 sq. ft. room with a queen bed, old table and chairs. It was definitely better, but barely.

The hotel is in a really good area, central to everything and walkable with subway and bus access nearby. Its just a little loud at night and bright. They definitely need some black out curtains in their rooms. Also, the air conditioners are window units. The weather was in the low to mid 80s so the room was warm even with the A/C. If youre going when its in the 90s it may be uncomfortable. The hotel doesnt have any amenities but the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It was perfect for our needs. We recommend it and would definitely stay here again.

Good value, friendly staff. Rooms are small and simple but well maintained and clean. The hotel is surprisingly quiet considering how close it is to Times Square. Only complaint is the incredibly noisy radiator that turns on every 2 hours or so and woke me up. But terrific location and I figure in NYC you'll get woken up by the street noise anyway.

Our stay was good, the only negative was low water pressure. The sink and shower were barely adequate, and after a long day walking around NYC, you need a nice hot shower. The staff was great, the room was clean and tidy, no other complaints except the above.

Joey at the front desk was the bomb! He made me feel comfortable and was very helpful. My room had some issues and we didn’t have water for a day because the city was doing something with the water. The hotel is planning on reimbursing me for the day without water whoch I appreciate. The rooms were small and reminded me of a New York apartment sans kitchen. I would go back to stay at this hotel because of the staff.

The location was perfect for my trip into the city to see shows. It is an easy walk from Penn Station and central located for Broadway. The staff is always very helpful and friendly. They have a room to hold your bag if you come early. The room was clean and efficiently laid out. I would definitely stay again.

Wonderful Stay – Like Visiting Family in the Heart of NYC! We had such an amazing stay at Hotel St. James! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like old friends. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and so much fun to talk to. They truly went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Everyone we met was kind, warm, and made us feel like part of the family. Whether we needed directions, recommendations, or just a good conversation after a long day, they were always there with a smile. Their hospitality made our NYC trip even more special. The hotel itself is cozy, clean, and perfectly located—just steps from Times Square but still peaceful and relaxing. It was the perfect spot for our family to unwind after exploring the city. Margaret, Carlo and the entire staff is always so welcoming. I’ve stayed at this hotel probably seven times and I highly recommend the location, the customer service is excellent. And you will sleep well. Small rooms but that’s New York City. Who wants to stay in their room? Right near all Broadway shows.

This hotel’s location is very convenient for us and it is clean, quiet for sleeping and an easy walk from the train station. (Gran Central)The best part of staying here is talking with Joey. He is so friendly and welcoming and the reason we will continue to stay here when we visit NYC. We already have another visit planned next month and look forward to seeing him again when we check in.

This hotel is in an excellent location for sightseeing the midtown area. Walkable to Central Park, 5th Ave, Rockefeller Centre, Empire State, Hudson Yards and Broadway/Times Square is right on your doorstep! Very large rooms by New York standards and they are clean! Highly recommend this hotel for first timers to NYC.

We had a great 6 night stay at Hotel St. James! The hotel is in the heart of the city (1min to Times Square, 5min to Bryant Park) and well accessible via Metro. I recommend using the LIRR from JFK / NJ Transit from EWR. The staff is amazing and very friendly. A big shoutout to Joey! We also loved our room which was newly renovated, very clean and big for New York City. The bed was very comfy too. A full body mirror and a small shelf for the room would be the only „additions“ which we would propose to the hotel for the room. Anyway I‘d recommend everyone this hotel. Yet one of the best hotels I had when staying in the city.

The St. James Hotel is in the heart of the Theatre District. It is lively, crowded, and energized. Additionally, it is close to multiple subway lines and within walking distance to Columbus Circle, Rockefeller Center, 34th Street, etc. The property itself is older and has its charm. The staff is great. I got a warm greeting & when i had an issue with my room, it was addressed immediately. The room was not the coziest and I had no natural light. There are pros and cons to everything

Absolutely fab hotel, really friendly staff, clean rooms with a very comfortable bed. Whilst it is not a modern hotel & it has no facilities such as bar it is just a few minutes walk from Times Square & is surrounded by restaurants. I would recommend if your wanting a fab base in New York

Loved this gem of a hotel. The staff was super friendly, the room was what I would consider pretty spacious for a Times Square hotel, bathroom was big. so close to all the favorites, minutes away from the theaters, Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, etc. free bag check to hold your bags while you explore the city after you’ve checked out. We will definitely be back. There’s no restaurant (or even a soda machine) within the hotel, but there’s a very convenient and very affordably priced 24 hour eatery with upstairs seating right next-door.

Absolutely would stay here again! The staff was so friendly, helpful, polite, funny and informative. They made us feel so welcome! The location is close to everything. There’s a walgreens type store nearby, a pub, and a little convenience store right next door. The food at the cook eatery next door is soooooo good!! Breakfast and the buffet in the afternoon! Fresh fruit, smoothies, juices. Its great! Cant wait to stay again!

Although an older building, it was very clean. Don’t expect the fancy amenities like lotion and extras. With that being said, it’s perfect to lay your head down from a fun night in the heart of Times Square. There are plenty of food places near by.
