Crazy nice for a best western. The issue was two fold. The first is that they decided to change the rugs on one of the days we were staying there. We were woken up early in the am (before 7am) by the machines that removed the carpet. The second was that the power went out for about 5 hours during our stay.

It was very clean and surprisingly quiet for Chicago. But the whirlpool and the sauna were not working and no one seemed to know anything about it. And the buck was passed.

Unfortunately I was not pleased with the room booked when I arrived. The room looked nothing like what was pictured on Expedia. The bathroom was outdated, which I noticed upon arrival. I also had a chance to see the bathroom pictured, in another room that housekeeping was servicing. The bathroom fan motor was extremely loud. The building is covered in ivy, which has cicadas in it that are chirping too loud outside of the building. Parking is $39 per night, with no security, the pavement is uneven and there was a clogged drain that was causing ponding in the lot. The blinds were damaged upon arrival. I’m well traveled and for the money I spent I could’ve stayed somewhere better. It just happens to be convenient for the event I was attending. The free breakfast isn’t worth the bait and switch. I would stay in this area again. But never again at this Best Western location. First and last time.

Beautiful room, beautiful bathroom, free water. Had very nice hot tub and sauna. Crazy setup with 2nd building for luggage delivery. Didn't have a pool. Should have luggage rack set out when you arrive because it was hard to find. Shutters were broken but beautiful.

We were grateful we were able to check in early, but I immediately noticed the floors in the room were oddly sticky. Each step I took, my shoe made a sticky noise that didn’t occur on other hard surfaces in the building. We stayed only two nights. Night one, we received a notice slipped under our door that the water would be off between 11-3 for city workers. Fine, we can make that work. We showered normally and headed out for our long day. We returned at 11:30pm from a comedy show to find out the water was once again off. This time, we had no notice. So my husband was unable to shower before bed and we had to brush our teeth with bottled water. Our room phone was called at 2am waking us out of a dead sleep, but no one was there when we answered. Next morning, I go to shower and there’s water, but only cold. I visit the front desk to inquire about it and was advised no one was there yet to turn the broilers back on and it would be a bit before the water would warm back up once this task was done. I also brought up the odd phone call at 2am and they advised it was them as they could hear water running despite it being turned off at that hour- it was my white noise I use to sleep. So I had to take a cold shower as we had an early Amtrak departure and broken sleep. Not really happy with the stay due to these things, but at least there was the continental breakfast which saves us some money and free bottled water. Hopefully a future stay would provide a better experience.

I had an amazing stay at the Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace! The hotel was impeccably clean, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Check-in and check-out were quick and hassle-free, making everything so convenient. As someone traveling alone, I felt comfortable and well taken care of. The room was cozy and perfect for a solo traveler like myself. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxing and pleasant stay in Chicago!

The hotel was dirty and run down. A room with two double beds with one of them being unusable because it was in such bad condition that you would roll off. The refrigerator would almost fall over when we attempted to open the doo.There was no shampoo or body lotion in the bathroom. Walls were paper thin and we could hear the children in the next room. The clerk at the front desk was eating Fritos as she was doing our paperwork. The front entry carpeting was almost completely worn away. The elevator looked like some disgusting liquid had been thrown on the walls. This was by far one of worst hotels we have stayed in. One positive was the location. Nice neighborhood, easy walk to shops and lakefront.

It is very clean, had every we needed. Perfect for what we needed it for. Very close to everything just a small drive away to more downtown, but lots to around there. I would not recommend the cinnamon rolls though they are like a day old but the breakfast they have is perfect, nice spa area and workout and sauna. Water pressure was one of the best we have started at besides our home. And the beds were comfy.

The bathroom was not clean. The tissue roll had dried blood spots on the bottom and wasn't even a new roll. For $500 a night for a room, you would expect at least a clean, full roll of tissue to be provided.

Great location. Cleanliness was fine. Very disappointed that recycling was not available. In an enlightened and modern city I should NOT be throwing away tons of recyclable items, or having to pack it and take it home. The room was a little dingy, peeling wallpaper, mold in grout, but overall it was good.

This was a very nice hotel close to the lake and restaurants. The lobby and terrace were very comfortable. I was in my own and felt safe staying here and getting food from the nearby restaurants. However, the bed was not comfortable. The microwave panel was loose and there was a musty smell from the carpet. I really liked the room layout but being on the 2nd floor on the parking lot side I could hear everyone talking as they were coming and going. In the morning at 8:45 there were no hot eggs and I didn’t ask if they were going to have anymore and I would have liked a bowl for my oatmeal. I did purchase some popcorn for my evening snack. I only wish there were alcohol beverages to purchase as well. The room and bathroom were very clean as was the little chair that I sat in. I would stay again. But I would ask for a higher room away from the noise of the parking lot.

Beautiful courtyard entrance into an old property with updated roomy rooms and caring staff. Only complaint is to turn on the shower you have to get wet with cold water. Otherwise lovely property in a great walkable area. Will happily stay here again.

I’ve had a generally good stay at this Best Western. The interior is surprisingly nice — the property is well-kept, clean, and clearly maintained with care. The staff has been friendly and helpful, and overall service has been solid. However, if you're planning to work remotely from your room, be aware that the Wi-Fi is a major issue. I’ve been here all day trying to work, and the connection has been unreliable and extremely slow. I called the front desk, and while they acknowledged another guest had also complained, they said their IT team confirmed it was running fine — it’s not. The fitness room is very small, with just one treadmill, bike, and elliptical — enough for a quick workout, but nothing more. Also, the housekeeping staff is quite loud as they go from room to room, which can be disruptive during the day. Overall, it’s a well-maintained and comfortable hotel, but not ideal for remote work.

The hotel was in a great location for us in a walkable neighborhood. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and the bathroom, though tight, was clean and modern. The lobby and front desk area were small and felt tight. There is little space for eating breakfast indoors, but outdoor patio is very nice, weather permitting. Rooms are cleaned every other day.

This hotel was in a great location and the room was spacious. The staff was very nice but severely under-trained. When we checked in, our shower and A/C were not working. The shower was fixed quickly, but it took over 24 hours for our A/C to be fixed. Luckily we were staying during a cool weekend in Chicago, so we were not too uncomfortable. But the hotel needs a better plan for addressing guests’ needs.

Overall a pretty nice stay, mainly due to good location. Comfortable bed, big TV, just nothing special or notable. My main complaint is the shower didn't have a door on it, the back half of the glass was essentially just left open and as a result water splashes all over the floor no matter what you do. Having to mop up the small lake on the bathroom floor every morning definitely hurt the stay a bit.

This hotel is really cute from the outside and nicely decorated on the inside. Love the brick patio with cafe tables out front. The rooms are nicely done, but the plantation shutters are broken and don’t open and close correctly, so hard to block out light from the street below. Staff was not friendly.

The Hawthorne Terrace deserves a 5 star rating, if only the staff could learn to put on a friendly face. It starts at the front desk where the women consistently avoid eye contact rather than greet guests as they enter the door. This sets the tone for the rest of the staff for whom guests seem to be an inconvenience. Even the breakfast lady stands impatiently waiting for you to get out of her way. Too bad because it's a nice property in a fantastic location so close to the lake.

This location was convenient to the sites we wanted to visit. Wrigley Field was in walking distance and a safe walk. There were plenty of cute dinners and coffee shops around even a grocery store. Easy access to many things. Rhonda at the front desk was very helpful in the morning. The ladies in the evening were also nice. I would definitely return to this location!

Terrific stay, staff super friendly and the location is terrific. Safe area. The hotel gave me an extra hour at check out and stored my bags while I waited for my pick up.

Disappointed, Disrespected, and Questioning My Treatment I genuinely wish this review could be more positive, but my experience at the Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace left me deeply disappointed and questioning whether I was truly welcome as a Black guest. After working an overnight shift with no sleep, I arrived in Chicago early and hoped to check in or at least rest in the lobby. I politely asked the front desk staff if there were any rooms available. She checked the system and said no — that my room wouldn't be ready until around 2pm. Fair enough. I asked if I could stay in the lobby to wait, and she said sure. But here's where it gets hard to ignore how different my treatment felt. About 30 minutes later, I witnessed another guest — a white man — walk up and ask if he could check in early. Without hesitation, she said yes and began checking him in. No mention of fees, no attitude, no resistance. I was confused but gave her the benefit of the doubt. I approached her again, asked the same question, and was denied — again. This property is a fantastic location in the Lakeview/Wrigleyville area. Surrounded by many fun restaurant options, shopping and a grocery store very close - plus a Starbucks half a block away. My room was exceptional, very comfortable bed and plenty of space for just hangin out. I’ll definitely stay again when I’m in town.

This is a super cute and quaint hotel situated in a residential area close to Wrigley stadium. It’s an old facility but the staff works hard to keep it clean and presentable. The rooms are spacious and have a refrigerator and microwave. They have breakfast but there are much better options less than 1/2 mile walk from the hotel (Stella’s diner was great). It’s also very easy to get an Uber or Lyft. The longest wait I had was 8 minutes. I did have an unidentified insect in my room and I despise bugs so I took a star off for that and the rate is a bit on the high side but I attribute that to the proximity to the baseball stadium. I’d stay here again in the future.

Great walkable neighborhood with dining options nearby (we got food from El Mariachi next door, it was excellent). Easy parking in the lot adjacent to the building or on the street. We stayed here one night while in town for a concert at the Aragon Ballroom, it was perfect. Breakfast options were fresh and tasty, the cinnamon rolls were just as good as everyone said - so good that we ran across the street and got half a dozen to bring home. :) Staff were friendly, room was clean and quiet, overall a positive experience for a reasonable price.

Not your grandma’s Best Western! This hotel is a hidden gem. We stayed in the suites, which are in an adjacent building. Super clean, comfy bed and good space to work. Highly recommend. The only downside is the not-so-special breakfast. Find a good diner on your own. There are plenty!
