Very nice people here! It is an old guesthouse so the fact I was on the 3rd was ok, the stairs were solid but narrow so if I had more luggage than a small backpack it would have been hard. No issues with the other floors though. So to restate floor 3, room 10 quaint room for person with very little luggage.

Staff work cheerfully under the friendly manager dubbed the Queen Bee. They only come on only when you’re directly in the range of detection.

Good location, easy check in, breakfast was good simple but very nice. The girls are polite helpful, room was big enough for two furniture abit dated but fine, plenty of tea coffee etc, bed was comfy. There is a iron etc on the middle floor which was very helpful. All in all i would stay there again

Rooms were very clean and adequate. Rooms warm during a cold January stay. Cooked breakfast was great. Hostess Caroline was a delight. Flat 10 minute walk to city gate (see photo). So no need to park closer unless you have a walking disability. Very desirable location. The only thing that would have made it better was to let customers know in advance that parking is £12.50 @ night. No nearby free parking in sight. Don’t hesitate to stay here.

Friendly and helpful staff. We had a small problem with heat during the Oct 1st hearing cutover (off during the summer into fall temperatures). Good communication of the problem down to staff and resolution. Close to the river. Short walk to Minster and downtown. No elevator is you need one. Very enjoyable place. Nice breakfast.

Everything is brilliant about St. Mary's Guest House in York! Location is perfect - just 10 min stroll along the river front into the centre. Beds very comfy. Breakfast pentiful, cooked to order and delicious. Manager, Caroline, is wonderful. Parking inexpensive and easy. We would highly recommend this for a city break.

The Guesthouse is located in a quiet street which is just across the street from the railway line to Scarborough. There are only a couple of trains an hour, so you don't really notice them and they didn't disturb our sleep. Breakfast is excellent and the staff are friendly and helpful. The menu has a good range of food on it and the portions are generous. Security is also good as the guesthouse has electronic locks on both the outer and inner doors which are sprung. It is located 5-7 minutes walk from York railway station. directly across a foot/cycle bridge which can be accessed directly from the station car park. The downside is the room as the bathroom was small with a very cramped sitting position on the WC. I am 6ft, not overweight but had to sit sideways. there were plenty of draws to put clothes like T-shirts and underwear in but there was an open clothes hanger with shelves, rather than a decent wardrobe. These open shelves are rubbish as clothes, or other items can fall of them very easily. The bed was in the style of an old fashioned bedstead. which, although quaint and comfortable to sleep on, was a bit short for anyone who is 6ft or taller. The room was warm but the timer seemed strange. as it went off at the time you might want it on, i.e. when you came in from dinner. The Guesthouse is in a great location for all the city's attractions but heating and hot water availability may need looking at as we had a cold shower on our last night.

We only stayed for 2 days over the Bank Holiday but it was a perfect break away. The ladies who served breakfast,which was amazin, full English was the husbands choice and he is quite picky but loved it, I opted for yogurt and fruit and eggs with toast,all perfectly done. Rooms are very clean and comfortable and cleaned daily without asking and the staff are so welcoming and no issue is a bother for them.will definitely be returning and a very reasonable price for York on a Bank Holiday weekend. We were so pleased with our stay we gave the ladies chocolates as a thank you when we left 💕 xxx

Great place to stay close to the city but far enough out to be quiet. Staff were all fantastic and so friendly. Breakfast was amazing. Only concern although it’s not a huge issue the trains were a little noisy but didn’t really disturb me but if that’s an issue for you take ear plugs

What a great base for a visit to York. Out of the hustle and bustle but close enough to enjoy the walk into town. The staff were very polite and professional and our room was spotless and very quiet(room 10) Thankyou for making our long weekend that much better

Excellent location, ten mins walk into the city walls. Room was clean and spacious (family room), one double and one single bed. Breakfast was good with the choice of cereals and fresh fruit followed by full English.

Very friendly staff who were attentive and chatty. Always saying that if you needed anything else just ask. Breakfast was lovely. Ideally situated close to the river which made for a very pleasant walk alongside the river into the City just 5 minutes away. Room was clean and tidy. A lovely 3 night stay. My only criticism is that the wi-fi was very hit and miss, frustratingly dropping out very often.

A few more lumens would have made the room appear brighter. Second, my room was at the front of the house, and I was awakened at 3am by noisy works going on at the railway opposite. To be fair, the weather was really warm and I had left the windows opened. When i shut them, the double glazing helped suppress the noise.

Fantastic stay, we were greeted by Caroline who was amazing what a lovely lady!!! the room we stayed in was really comfortable, cosy, clean and warm. The breakfast was excellent great choice available included fruit cereal full cooked breakfast which was delicious well cooked and prompt, the waitresses were real sweethearts, attentive and very professional a credit to the business. We would definitely recommend this little gem of a b&b and have already re-booked to stay. Thank you to all at St Marys for making our visit to York on a birthday weeked so memorable ✨️ 💖

Only 5 minute walk from station and 5 minute walk along the side of the Ouse into city centre. Staff genuinely caring and attentive. Breakfast great and freshly cooked

Everything is brilliant about St. Mary's Guest House in York! Location is perfect - just 10 min stroll along the river front into the centre. Beds very comfy. Breakfast pentiful, cooked to order and delicious. Manager, Caroline, is wonderful. Parking inexpensive and easy. We would highly recommend this for a city break.

A fabulous place to stay within walking distance of everywhere you would want to visit in York. A very comfy room and one of the best cooked breakfasts you’ll find anywhere. We’ll definitely stay again on our next visit.

The staff were very welcoming , the guest house was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good with a gluten free option,including the sausages and the bread. We were able to leave our cases in reception after we checked out in the morning, until we wanted to travel in the afternoon. Would stay there again if we return to the area

Easy self-check in after hours. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean and inviting property with bright and spacious room. Excellent breakfast. Water pressure in shower was not great. Easy walking distance to train station and to town centre. Quiet location, even with rail tracks across the road.

St. Mary’s Guest House was everything we needed for our 5-night stay in York. My friend and I stayed in a twin room, which was clean and perfectly comfortable, albeit nothing fancy. Our 2nd stay at St Mary's and we loved it as much as the first! Staff friendly, breakfast delicious and cooked to order, beds comfy, room perfectly adequate for a city break. The location is great - just a 10 min pleasant stroll along the river to the city centre or similar to the station.
