This property was excellently located for convenience to Ford Field, Ceasars Palace, and Comerica Park if that is where you want to go. It is within walking distance of all. The place in general was really neat. The only complaints about the place was the beds could use some new mattresses, and a continental breakfast instead of breakfast I am use to at bed and breakfasts having great full breakfasts. The only other complaint is the parking was good, but the parking lot of the 97 Winder was used for paid parking for the games at Ceasars. This created a problem for those staying at 97 Winder as it was hard to get the parking attendents to understand we were guests and to save us a parking place when we went in and out. The hosts were all friendly. Overall, if I went again for games, I would stay again.

Lovely location with charm and a mix of modern and Victorian decor. Rooms are on the second and third floor. To my knowledge there is not an elevator. We are able to do stairs but just something to note. Also, we felt the temperature was too warm for our liking. We tend to keep our homes cooler so this may be personal preference. This location is perfect for sporting events!

Great location for the event we were attending. The parking lot situation was a little off putting, as people were allowed to park there that were not staying at the hotel and they were paying $5 less than if you were staying there. Building was really nice, older but well kept. We had a top floor room which was quiet, but also very warm. There’s no central air, and for some reason we found a thermostat laying on a table not connected to anything and it was set at 75. Breakfast was ok, the kitchen was nice to have even if we didn’t use it. My only complaints are underneath the bed was EXTREMELY dusty, I dropped my phone under there and went to look and it was a thick layer. Besides that’s, the staff was very nice expect an older lady in the morning made us feel rushed to leave after we dropped our keys off well before checkout time. I would say 4/5, will definitely stay here again for future events just not in the warmer months

For a building that is 100 years old, it was ok. Decor is definitely dated and could use a refresh. Staff is great. Denise was amazing. Very convenient to all the sporting and concert venues. Stairs are a killer. No elevator nor is it handicap accessible. Parking is first come first served, pay parking.

Nice property close to arena parking is 25 dollars and they don’t accept cash. There is a 250 dollar hold placed on your credit card for damage ! You have to call to gain entry for check in ! The breakfast is very very basic! Beds comfy and clean!

The property itself was beautiful, was disappointed that spa services are advertised even though there is no spa. A masseuse off site should not qualify. My biggest gripe was parking. If you want me to pay 25$ per car for parking, you shouldn’t be selling spaces for 10$. Everytime I left the parking lot and returned I had to have a unnecessary conversation with someone and explain to them Im staying at the inn and dont have to pay them to park in the parking lot. Then they had the nerve to try to tell me where I can park. The continental breakfast was just ok. The best part of the stay was how close it is located to other stuff like food and venues. Won’t stay here again unless its just overnight. I don’t like having to have the same conversation everytime I leave and come back, and I shouldn’t have to tell someone my stay duration or room number bc you want to make extra money selling spaces. It was just super unnecessary.

The house is amazing old mansion, and great location. The bad mad it awful Cant control temperature in your room our room was freezing. The parking lot situation (which they do not own the parking lot) i was being told i had to pay for 3 days even though i was obly there less then 48 hour, the owner threatened to tow my car. Then on sunday even though i had paid till 6 pm that day per the app. Was told it didnt count because the tigers were playing a game so i had to pay for the third day. The lady working the desk came out and also argued with they guy working the parking lot and he ended up just givi g up but a waste of 10 min from them just wanting more money. And having different rules that were not written any where. I was also charged more per day then what was on the paper work from the hotel. Just not wroth the hassle. This was my 4th time staying here mainly because its always cheaper then a chain hotel but it will definitely be my last.

The outside of the building & the grounds are beautiful. We stayed in room 24. It was very warm in the room. Windows did not open, no ceiling fan. I asked the worker there & she turned on sub par air conditioning. The room had no amenities, except a TV. The room had not been cleaned recently. There was a price tag & dust on the floor in the main room. Two bed pillows did not have cases. The window behind the TV was covered by a heavy drape. Behind the drape was a broken, dirty blind. I dropped something on the floor in the bathroom. When I bent to pick it up, the back of the sink & toilet were filthy. The two workers were very nice & welcoming. The continental breakfast was nice. But the filth & poor ventilated room was unacceptable. For $212, we were definitely overcharged. We will never stay there again & will not recommend to our friends.

The power went out to our room at 2:33 am because the space heaters used to heat the place tripped the breaker. So there was no lights, heat, or power after that!! We called the "emergency" phone number 5 times and no one answered or called back. Someone came to fix it at 10 am. I have yet to get a call back from the property 3 days later. $200/night for no electricity and having to use the flashlight on my phone to see to get to the bathroom, crazy. There is no staff at this place after you check in. Black mold in the shower and you may or may not have electricity. Insane!!

No air conditioning controls inside the room. 1 out of the 4 table lamps worked. Bathroom room/ only one bulb out of the 5 lights worked over the sink, no tissue, had to ask for toilet paper because their was a small amount on roll when we arrived. The room was dusty and rug needed to be cleaned

It’s a beautiful old mansion in a decent location close enough to the heart of downtown. Unfortunately the room I had isn’t as nice as it appears online. It’s a very old house so walking around you hear the creaking pretty much everywhere. The bed was just barely comfortable. I would’ve expected higher end bedding from a property like this. Cleanliness of the room was also a bit of an issue in that there are stains on the carpet, slight stains on some of the furniture along the wall by the windows. There was noticeable dust where they missed sweeping. It’s a place with a lot of potential, but perhaps it’s a staffing issue, they just need to be more on top of their game With regard to the property. The staff were all very nice. That was a highlight.

The location of The Inn at 97 Winder is perfect for walking to Little Caesar's Arena. The off-street parking is a bonus. I wanted to love this charming historic Inn but it fell short. The area rug in our room was stained and dirty. The blinds on the windows overlooking the street were literally hanging in shreds. The couch had stains. In the bathroom 3 of 4 lightbulbs in the fixture over the sink/mirror were burned out. A few repairs and improvements and this could be an award-winning Inn.

Needs to be cleaner. People had written things in the dust in our room. AND dated the dust …4/2025 soooo. Bathroom wasn’t very clean and the carpets definitely had not been vacuumed. I usually love an historic B&B but wouldn’t recommend this one. The staff were very nice but the lack of cleanliness was a deal breaker for us.

Check-in with Denise was great! Parking was okay- a bit of confusion because we arrived early, but they allowed us to park in the lot until check-in time. The common areas were nice and I loved all the wood floors. Proximity to the arena was great. Our room was NOT AT ALL like those pictured online. It was dirty! Crud on the bathroom sink, lord only knows what on the coffee table, and we did NOT walk on the floor without shoes on because it looked like it hadn’t been touched in quite some time. Would I stay there again? No, based on the dirtiness.

Lovely historical spot and just beautiful! Walkable to many things and super close to all of the sports stadiums. The room and space were beautiful and the on site parking was a huge bonus! Breakfast hours were not great and too late to be used for us. And the place itself was lacking a bit cleanliness wise as things were dusty in spots. But staff were very nice and being able to stay in this beautiful landmark was a treat!

Floors in room were filthy Bobby pins and crumbs everywhere shower the wall spouts didn’t work, toilet sits very low to ground no a/c small clip on fan with low power and parking attendant was rude. And price increased isn’t as advertised. Breakfast was cute. Furniture is beautiful.

The location was fantastic in relation to Little Caesars Arena. Loved the uniqueness of the building. The size of the room was huge. I would definitely stay again. Some ways to improve would to be to have a douvet, rather than a quilt. Also, the pillows were not the best quality and mattresses could use an update. The breakfast was okay. Just bagles, muffins, fruit and yogurt. It could be improved. I would definitely come back for the location and uniqueness of the building.

What a neat place to stay in downtown Detroit. The inn was close to where we were going (the Masonic Temple for a concert) but also within a few hundred yards of the Fox and downtown sports parks. The old place is beautiful and funky without being too fussy. The bathroom was huge—a room unto itself! Our room was quite cold (third floor) due to AC and as it was about 11:30 pm when we got home from the concert, there was no one to contact. Extra blanket helped. The mattress is about at the end of its life. Coffee and continental breakfast were a good bonus.

Located walking distance from downtown and around the corner from the free light rail, The inn at 97 Winder is a true gem! The mansion is gorgeous, filled with a collection of colorful artwork and antiques. The rooms are very spacious—mine had a bay window facing downtown—and the bathrooms are very clean. Everything that I needed was provided for; they even accommodated my late check-in and held a bag for me upon check-out. The breakfast was basic but a nice perk nonetheless. Would stay here again, and especially recommend if you’re attending a show at The Fox Theater or a sporting event.

Wonderful unique inn stay. The inn is a restored mansion and it's really fancy inside. But it's not a hotel. It's an Inn. The art and the interior layout and the furnishings in the rooms is like stepping back in time, to a more luxurious period. It's got a lot of charm and character and I for one would stay here again. Property has great history and timeless furniture pieces but room could’ve used a thorough cleaning. No thermostat and room was warm. Room had an odor of being in a museum. Bed was mediocre but clean. Parked early but not allowed to check in. We didn’t want to go into room but wanted to be checked in since we didn’t want to have to return between 4:00-8:00. That would’ve cost an additional $50 which was unreasonable since the room was already quite expensive. Not very friendly either if you want return customers. Location is great for game.

Our room was freezing. 60 degrees. The walls are super thin. You have to pay 25 dollars a day for parking. There were feather pillows which stuck you in the head while sleeping. Contential breakfast at a bed and breakfast is disappointing. Denise was very nice and tried to accommodate us.

This was our third time staying here, and it was not as good this time. There was no shampoo, there were no drinking glasses in the room to take our pills with, and there were lightbulbs that needed replaced. The room that we were in is always cold and there wasn’t a blanket to put on the bed. This is one of our favorite places to stay and I hope they fix these things. It’s a gorgeous house.

The Inn is a beautiful and intriguing place to stay. The antiques and the gorgeous form of the home itself is amazing. The staff we met was friendly and helpful. It is very conveniently located to a lot of venues, as we were seeing a show at Little Caesars Arena, only a quick walk. The on site parking is a nice feature as well. The one issue that arose was due to the fact that there is no staff there at all during many hours. The key fob to enter the inn(this is the only means of entry) was malfunctioning and we were unable to get access. The emergency line was called, texted and no response at all till the next morning. Unfortunately all our personal items were inside and we were left to sleep in our car in the parking lot from 12am to 7am in 30° weather when finally another guest was leaving and we were able to access the inn. It is unfortunate that this tarnished our trip because prior to this things were going quite well.

Overall, my stay was good and hotel is conveniently located. However, the front desk failed to provide me with any receipt/invoice for my stay. I was told that I receive it via email, but that never happened. I tried to contact reservations several times via email or telephone, but they never answered. Even hotels.com tried to get in touch with them but also failed. I don’t know what to do since I need the invoice to expense my stay. Never had such behavior from a hotel like this before.

The inn is fantastic. Rooms very well appointed and modern bathrooms. Bed comfy. Continental breakfast hit the spot. Ice and glasses and coffee always available. No refreshments otherwise. Only difficulty we had was pre-arrival communications. No responses to chat messaging through hotels.com, and phone went to voicemail 4 times with no returned phone call. I didn’t get through on 5th try. I would still recommend

What a great stay! From an easy check in and fantastic service (thank you, Denise!) to an incredible room and comfortable bed, the stay was worth every penny. Excellent location to see a show at the Fox, go to LCA, Ford Field or Comerica. The area is clean and safe. Hotel has an excellent fresh Continental breakfast. Also, the rooms are absolutely gorgeous as the house is a masterpiece of 19 century architecture.

So close to the Little Ceasar' s Arena. We left our car parked at the hotel and went to see a Piston's game. Walking distance. Very historical hotel. We love antiques and enjoyed our 1-night stay. We would like to stay again when we come see a game or a concert in downtown Detroit.

I don't like to give negative reviews and this may be one of the first ones I've ever given. We booked two rooms 23 and 24 and it was a cold and windy night out. The windows in both rooms were ridiculously bad and leaked so much air it would likely have blown a candle out if you put it in front of it. Honestly room 24 never got above about 50° even though there was an electric space heater in there running full blast all the time. Our one teenager son gave up in the middle of the night and came and slept with us in room 23 on the floor which was considerably warmer. The other son stayed in the 24 room all night but he slept fully dressed with sweatshirt on and everything under the covers. It's a neat place but they should not be trying to rent rooms that they can't heat. There's no way to cleaning staff did not know that those rooms were way way too cold to rent.

The old place is beautiful and funky without being too fussy. The bathroom was huge—a room unto itself! The Inn is a fantastic stay in a beautiful historic mansion. We were beyond thrilled with the experience, and the breakfast was lovely fresh food too. Also the convenience of its proximity to event spaces was great. Everything was easily walkable and in a clean and safe feeling area of Detroit. We will definitely be back.

The Inn is located in a great location for walking to events downtown, and our room was nice and spacious. The breakfast was continental, but still had a large variety of options. The property is in an old house which means that a lot of the furniture and decor are cool, they are not all exactly functional and some basic items were lacking (no shelf in shower to put soap on, not a lot of outlets to plug stuff in, toilet ran for a bit after flushing), but it was good for a one night stay. My biggest complaint is that the listing says street parking is free if available, and when we arrived we were informed street parking is permit only after 2pm so we needed pay $28.99 to park in the lot next to the inn.

The “breakfast” was basically apples, Nutirgrain bars, cold cereal and packets of oatmeal. No room thermometer to control the temperature.

There is no free street parking as advertised, but the gates in lot was only 28 bucks for 24 hours. The room was cozy. Excellent breakfast and very friendly staff. We will return here for any event at ford field or comerica park.

Everything was excellent. My one complaint was the breakfast; its was worse than what's offered at a hampton inn. A great B&B has a catered breakfast with hot main courses etc. served at a specific time when all the guests can meet at the breakfast table and discuss their trip, where they are from, other trips they've taken etc. Only meet one other couple.
