Sunset Motel

Loved the charm of this little motel. It had that mid-century modern feel. The location was close to many restaurants in the downtown area. It was a quiet and comfortable room. If you're looking for something different from a chain hotel, this is a great, affordable option in Murphy.

Very reasonably priced. Great location. Short walk to restaurants, coffee and shopping. Room was clean and comfortable. We received Breakfast baskets with fruit, granola bars etc… for Saturday and Sunday morning. After coming back from exploring each day we had fresh towels and wash cloths, bed was made and room tidied up. You don’t get that anymore these days unless you ask. They automatically did it. We definitely would stay again.

Everything was perfect for me as a solo traveler. I appreciated the extra touches like the complimentary water and breakfast basket. The decor is intentionally retro and fun. No complaints! I'd stay here again.

The room was extremely cold: with the space heater on high and the bathroom door closed, it would only ever get up to 62 degrees and was mostly at 60. Meanwhile, the bed had only a thin bed cover and no blanket, and the bathroom had no source of heat. The power button on the remote didn't work, and initially the light switch didn't work but I was able to resolve that with the help of a flashlight. They also have a weird "no locals, no exceptions" rule which seems kind of rude to those who live in the area. The one thing I will say is that the toilet paper was very plush and the shower worked well.

Room was clean but needs some work. Still some very old rusted parts especially in the bathroom. It is a very old motel that was renovated but done cheap. Bed is hard. TV didn’t work some of the time. We appreciate that the room was serviced, bed made, trash pulled, etc. That was nice.
