The hotel is in a great location, but there a few things we didn’t like: bathroom shower head was turned on so powerfully that it was impossible to avoid soaking the floor during a shower no matter which direction you turned the head or how tightly you had the curtain closed around you. The sink faucet would not stay on for longer than 3 seconds before it would roll itself to the off position. Both the sink and bathtub were clogged, so would start to fill up within seconds of washing our hands or having a shower. We also found that though there is a smoking room on the first floor with a closing door, the room was across from the elevators and the smell of smoke would travel into the elevator and sometimes permeate to our floor.

The location was great, easy access to the train station and popular areas. Room was mostly clean and compact. Staff were friendly on check in but when we asked to leave our luggage for a couple hours before check in they just let you tag it yourself and leave it in the lobby not secured.. we were worried all day about our luggage even though we know Japan is known for being safe. There seemed to be not a lot of supervision or presence at the front desk unless you rang the bell. Also amenities that were not explained on check in we discovered ourselves based off our previous hotel.

숙소 위치가 너무 좋아요. 가라스마 지하철역과 매우 가깝고, 시조 거리도 다니기 정말 좋습니다. 교토의 모든 지역을 갈때 지나는 곳이라서 버스도 많아요. 그런데 위치 이외에 룸의 컨디션, 소음 등은 만족스럽진 않았어요. 그치만 가격이 저렴하니 이해합니다! 다만 추가로 돈을 내고 사용하는 세탁기/건조기는 냄새가 나고 별로였어요.

Very central location. Literally a block in one direction for the busy sleek newer looking streets and an easy walk, bus, or taxi to historic areas. There is a bus station and taxi stand a block away. Definitely a small room but nothing unexpected for metro areas. Laundry and vending machine downstairs next to the smoking room and bathrooms. Take advantage of the luggage shipping available. I shipped 3 bags for $54 usd to Tokyo! Be sure to search specifically for Karasuma as there are multiple hotel M locations very close to each other and Google maps picks up on a different location by default as of right now.

This location was close to buses and main road for shopping like Nishiki’s Market. Room was smaller than average Japan hotel rooms. Bathroom space had just enough but nothing more. I’d say this place is good for short stays. Found the blanket had a stain under duvet cover. Interior of the room looks modern though. Customer service was ok. Overheard that they don’t call taxis.

The hotel is very clean, very closed to bus stop, train station, Gion, Daimaru, Takashimaya, Uniqlo, GU, Loft and other shopping places, also there are lots of food places you can go eat and enjoy. I’ll definitely go back and stay at this hotel whenever I visit Kyoto again in the future.

Staff was good. But we left something behind and tried to msg the hotel but they didn’t reply. I asked Expedia to get a hold of them and they told Expedia that we didn’t leave anything. Also the room wasn’t that clean, hair left over from the last guests and something red on the wall. Good location but not for that price.

Good sized room. Friendly staff. Walls were kind of thin and you could hear people above or next to you sometimes. You can walk to Nishiki market though and thats hard to beat. Plenty around or close by to eat or shop at in walking distance which is hard to beat!

スタッフの方の対応は親切でした。ただ、部屋の暖房が全く効かず、最高温度で風量MAXにしても寒く、風邪をひいてしまいました。エアコンが壊れてるのか近くで確認しましたが、埃や汚れが目立ち、手入れされていなかったようです。また、部屋は独特な悪臭があり、香水をふりかけたハンカチを身につけて過ごしました。安いので仕方ないのですが、健康的に過ごせる最低限のホテルステイがしたかったです。二度と利用しません。

Hotel M's Est Shijo - Karasuma, was a wonderful stay. Great location and very helpful staff. They tried their best to speak English with my partner and me and were always available to assist. The room was very clean, the bathroom was pristine, and had good water pressure. The bed was very comfortable and the A/C unit worked perfectly. The location of the hotel was amazing, just a minutes walk from Nishiki, the subway station, and numerous bus stops for easy access to the entire city.

We stayed for 4 nights in a superior twin room with 2 twin beds and 1 double sofa bed. The room size is good, in good condition and is reasonably sound proof. The hotel is located in a convenient location with convenient stores, shops, cafes, restaurants and transports (bus and metro). We highly recommend this hotel.

Going into my trip I knew rooms in Japan were going to be small, however I didn’t find this room horribly small. It was spacious enough. Enjoyed all the amenities, free pajamas, and toiletry kits they gave out for free. Super convenient! It’s literally right off the main road of all shopping and nishiki market. I would book again just off of location!

The room is tiny and not very comfortable, there is barely place to put a suitcase or open it. It's a pitty that there is no breakfast at the hotel, but on the other hand, there are plenty of cafes with excellent breakfasts right near the hotel. However, the hotel is in a great location, there is everything around - food, shopping, a bus stop and a train station.
