We really enjoyed our stay here with the whole family. Theatre is awesome to watch some great shows in the evening. Overall there was something to do for everyone. The beach is very very nice!

The hotel is big and full of things to do for families. Many of them you have to pay extra for, so not really all inclusive. The staff looks like they don't want to work there, not friendly at all, at least most of them. And because we buy the trip through Expedia they wont do nothing extra for you, they just said talk to your agent.

Bathrooms need an upgrade, staff didn’t speak English well so rarely greeted you. Pools close at 6:00pm, strict dress code for men in reservation dinners! (Why!!!) it’s too hot to wear pants, and in hibachi you sitting around table and can’t see a person’s bottom! Stupid rule! It’s nice dress clothes that don’t have to be pants. Even the lunch buffet made you get dress to still come eat outside. The entire resort shuts down by 8:00pm! Nothing to do but go to the room and sit. Need more evenings activities if you going to close just about everything down early. Even the mall! Close early and no one shopping or there to open the stores. Never staying there again. FYI…other Barcelo greet there guest with welcome drinks and make you feel excited you are here. Not this place.

The pools were very well maintained and we loved that the surfaces around the pool did not burn our feet! There were lots of activities, lounges were plentiful with filtered shade. Drink service around the pool took way too long, going to the bar yourself is always faster. Enjoyed the hydrotherapy thoroughly!

Overall this is a pretty nice place to stay and we had a great time. The room was a little dated but nice and clean. The overall facilities were updated and the grounds were clean. The multiple pools were a nice option depending on what crowd you wanted to be around. The buffet food was average but we did not eat anything that we didn't like. We did eat at the Italian and Sushi restaurants. They were both very good and the wait staff was friendly. As a whole the staff was very friendly aside from the front desk personnel. There is not much for nightlife if that is what you are looking for but there are certainly places where you can get a drink just about any time of day. There are watersports options on the beach and there were plenty of chairs open, in and out of the sunshine. We'd certainly entertain the thought of coming back but there are many resorts in the area so we'd likely try others before returning.

Clean and very well maintenanced property. A bit outdates. The thing I hated the most is the towel game. It is not supposed to wake up on 6:30 to go and put your towels to reserve chairs when you are supposed to relax and enjoy the vacation. There were multiple situations when people were getting angry because of lack of chairs. I don't get how the management can spend so much money on the resort to make customers enjoyng the stay, but oversee something important like that. I've seen this isuues in other resorts also and this is plain stupid. Also there were some moments when the water pressure was very low.

Beautiful property, clean and good food at some restaurants not all of them. Overall was a good stay, the only things we did not like is lines to the restaurants even with reservations so many people pack together to wait in line to get in. Busy season I guess ! Also not much area with AC to cool off and have a drinks, we found a bar with AC on neighbors property, but it barely worked there too. No Bar at the beach, so we barely drinks at this vacation as to not much where to hang out to hide from mosquitoes and heat/humidity.

Our room was not cleaned thoroughly when we arrived. The toilet leaked resulting in a wet bathroom floor at all times. Also our shower would not drain so you are standing in dirty water while showering. There was a loud squealing sound that woke us up coming from the vent on our first night there. They did fix it but it returned periodically throughout our stay which resulted in poor quality sleep. We will not be returning and do not recommend you spend your hard earned money to stay here.

The room was clean, comfortable mattress, crispy white sheets. The room itself is dated, lighting in the bathroom is bad if you are trying to do make up. The grounds are beautiful. The buffet is typical of all inclusive. We also went to the Japanese teppanyaki restaurant, it was really good. As we are beach and ocean people, we were not impressed with the ocean. It’s very shallow and flat which is fine if you have small kids but the entry is a bit rocky, you can’t see the rocks because the water isn’t super clear most of the time, some areas of sand on the bottom feel mushy as you walk and sometimes there would be a smell of rotten eggs in the water, very strange. But overall we had a good time.

The food was very good. There were many options to choose from. The one issue we experienced was the water that went from the shower to the toilet area every time the shower was turned on. We had to lay towels down to block the leaking area on the floor connecting the shower to the toilet area. Another issue was the ice machines out on the hallways that did not function. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.

Very dated rooms, a/c not working properly and one of the bathroom lights fixture almost falls in my head, lot of loose things in the bath tub, small tv’s and radio clocks, limited amount of outlets for chargers. Rooms definitely need improvement!!

Stayed 5 nights in July of 2024 and would not return if they paid me to. The Resort - The buildings were really old and smelled of mold and mildew. I afterwards found out it was built in '99, I wish I had checked before I booked. It looks like it was built in '99 and thousands of people used it, which they did. It's in a rough condition. Our section was called Sayil. The Room - We booked the Superior room and it looks nothing like in the pictures. The bathroom was terrible. Caulked a million times, dark, small and the toilet seat would not stay up. The 'shower/bath' glass door was dirty and stained and the room smelled of mold. The balcony glass door must be the original from '99 as the mechanism to lock unlock barely worked and if not careful it would lock you outside. A girl in the room on the right side when facing our room door got stuck in the balcony and I had to call room service to let her out. The room was terrible and mattresses old uncomfortable. Food - Absolutely terrible. The buffet and the Captain Morgan's bar. Junk food at it's finest. We are not rich by any means or picky eaters, but if it wasn't for the omelet in the morning and potatoes, tomatoes and dry foods we would have starved. You only get 2 vouchers for the restaurants, and it is quite impossible to get a reservation. Managed to reserve for the last night. Pool and Beach - The pool and the beach were the only good thing, and my kids enjoyed swimming in both. Staff were amazing!!!

When we arrived, we were changed to another part of the hotel and they made us walk to the other resort with our luggage. The room key had to be changed 4 times which required a long walk to the front desk 4 times.

The room I received needed various maintenance work. The sliding door was broken adjoining door was also not working right the safe was also not working correctly and the phone did not work except for the first and last day. It was also very challenging making dinner reservations for the restaurants I wanted to attend and the hotel would not take reservations in advance. The staff was kind but time was wasted waiting on the maintenance and for the safe to be fixed. I had to wait over two hours for them to arrive one day.

My 3rd time at this resort and really noticed the deterioration. Food was substandard with not much variation. Issues with housekeeping at the beginning of our stay, but after numerous times mentioning them, they were all corrected and no problems after that with the room. Í enjoyed my stay here. Everyone was very welcoming. However, the check in and check out process was not great. We got an hour late check in because the room wasn’t ready yet so they sent us to a further room. Also checking out, no one was at the desk early morning so someone else had to do the process for us.

A huge shoutout to Danielle in the buffet and to the maintenance manager and staff, Roman Medina and Miquel Arcos. They went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. The ac stopped working & maintenance couldn’t fix it. We booked several months in advance for a specific part of resort & they moved us to another location on their own; without notice. Very inconvenient!!!! The staff was not very helpful in this situation either, did nothing to try to make the situation better.

The hotel is big and full of things to do for families. Many of them you have to pay extra for, so not really all inclusive. The staff looks like they don't want to work there, not friendly at all, at least most of them. And because we buy the trip through Expedia they wont do nothing extra for you, they just said talk to your agent.

I booked needing a room on ground level because of handicap status. I booked caribe since its location is somewhat centralized. I was told when i arrived they moved me to beach. Beach is farthest away from everything. Also, was forced to stay on 3rd floor that had 36 steps to get too. I just had a partial foot amputation and this was nearly impossible. Food was awful, tokyo and Kyoto are the best restaurants on site. Service was ok. I will never patronize this resort again. RIU for the win. Please take into consideration, Barcelo has been my go to since 2008. Alberto at the entrance needs promoted to manager. He is the only person who cares

My third time staying at a Barcelo resort my first time in Puerto Vallarta and the two times here Tropical and Caribe. Everything like alway very nice. This time we checked in premium not to happy with the check in process the staff who help us check in very low spoken had trouble understanding what she was saying and not too friendly. Not the best experience! At the hotel lobby area staff is more welcome and friendly. Other than that we always enjoy our stay at Barcelo.

My first time at the resort and it was a great experience! We did have an issue at check-in. We reserved through Orbitz and were granted VIP status, per Orbitz. However, the resort had an issue honoring the VIP package because it wasn't in their system, even though it was clearly stated on our printed reservation papers. After a lot of back and forth and fustration they granted us the VIP package as if they were doing us a favor.

Property was very clean, friendly staff. We were able to make 3 dinner reservations. Ocean has a lot of rocks which makes a little hard to walk. Drinks are good, we had access to all 4 Barcelo resorts, everything in walkable distance.

Huge resort. Huge swimming pools. Feels like a small town all on its own. No reason to ever leave while there for a week. Decent food at buffets, Tokyo and la trattoria restaurant. But .. Basically if you go in the summer, you got a use the pools which are nice and lots of shade around them. In the restaurants they require long pants. Period. Can't negotiate. 90F outside and you got a wear pants. Nice shorts, nice shirt, does not matter. Ppl coming in dirty track/sweat pants and sneakers looking 20 years old are welcome. Anyhow, they made us wear their waiter pants (they were washed/dry cleaned before). Expedia does not mention anywhere that pants are required for dinner.

Stayed for 7 nights overall good experience. Clean property, beautiful, good food only at Buffet and Sea Food Restaurant. Large beautiful property. 5 hotels in one line/row. Several pools and activities for all ages. Buffet food was hit or miss for dinners. Staff at bar were a little rude at times. Our hotel was older but beds were comfortable and it was close to the beach. Beach was swimmable. Rocks in some areas but had areas in the cove with sand only.

A la carte restaurants not worth going to as their food isn't really better but selection is much more limited. Beach isn't great, ok mostly for looks as it gets rocky deeper in the water. The best part of the beach is pier with lots of tropical fish underneath. One can jump of the piere and snorkel without need to waste money on tours like XelHa etc. Rooms ok, beds comortable, good AC. Bathroom had no lock and was rather small. Internet good, except on the beach. Pools are large, but quite shallow (4 ft). Cocktail drinks VERY bad. Nightly shows are not all enjoyable, I liked Mexican the best.

The property was larger than expected but the staff kept all areas clean. Dinners in the a la carte restaurants were excellent. Book them as soon as you arrive. I am a repeared guest for many years. I can say with confidence that the resort is wery well kept, plenty of soace to swim, eat, walk, etc. Staff is very friendly and helpful. BUT, its a huge BUT here the food. I am not sure what us tge reason but the food degradation is so obvious compared to couple of years ago. We usually had breakfast, lunch and dinner at main buffet at Caribe. Food was always cold, the badics were slways out and I am not talking about meat variaty or seafood, I am talking about cucumbers, or french fries that kids usually look for. We never book restaurant because we love variety, but this year was the first one from our 15 years at Barcelo when we booked restaurants because the food at the buffet was literally disgusting. Other than that it is a beautiful place to stay at.

The room was clean, comfortable mattress, crispy white sheets. The room itself is dated, lighting in the bathroom is bad if you are trying to do make up. The grounds are beautiful. The buffet is typical of all inclusive. We also went to the Japanese teppanyaki restaurant, it was really good. As we are beach and ocean people, we were not impressed with the ocean. It’s very shallow and flat which is fine if you have small kids but the entry is a bit rocky, you can’t see the rocks because the water isn’t super clear most of the time, some areas of sand on the bottom feel mushy as you walk and sometimes there would be a smell of rotten eggs in the water, very strange. But overall we had a good time.

The food options were really limited. They don’t tell you that you only get a limited amount of cards to book the restaurants, for example (5 nights = 2 cards for restaurants). Otherwise, you don’t have access to them and will have to eat at the buffet every day. The buffet food didn’t look appetizing. The staff wasn’t super welcoming, we had to ask the waiters to bring us water with our food multiple times and had to wave them down to even come service us. As a non-native/non-Spanish speaker, the staff didn’t try to communicate with you or really give you great service. Obviously with some exceptions. The sheets weren’t fully clean as there were a few spots of leftover dirt from previous users. As it was the season for seaweed, the beach was cleaned every two days rather than every day, which made it difficult to enter the ocean, unlike other resorts. Due to the messy beach, the pool was a better option for our stay, which was really clean and taken care of, even though we were looking forward to spending all our time on the beach. The bartenders were super friendly and helpful. Absolutely great service. Lots of beach chairs with options for shade or sun. The Internet connection outside of the room was very minimal. Barely any Internet connection on the beach and the pool.

Really nice place, first day PLS make sure you travel the rest of the resorts and understand all the activities available this will help you plan ur days better. the arcade was not included and a few water activities were additional cost as well. overall the staff were super nice and our stay was very comfortable and relaxing. Reserve your restaurants first day. The buffet definitely felt some days were better than others, if you don’t like the food at one place walk a few minutes to the next resort( that’s what we did lol). Thank you barcelo for a amazing vacation :)

Drinks at the 2 pool bars were watered down (1 in particular served drinks that were sugar laced and flat). Food at the buffets were stale and obviously constantly re-heated with the same selections each day. Rooms were dated . My tv had a cracked screen, flickering lights in the bathroom and USB charging ports did not work with limited outlets. Lawn sprinkler was aimed directly at our sliding door.

It was frustrating to get a drink at the Swim bar every day we were there. There was not very many people to help get us a drink. The food at the buffet was OK but the restaurants when you make reservation was really good.
