It was small but very clean. Love the location its perfect. The security is great. You always need your tag to go inside.

Upon arrival at the hotel, the doors were locked at 9:30pm local time. I had to wait for someone to open the door for me. The person at the front desk was friendly and helpful. Going up into my room, I realized that the walls were paper-thin and that I could hear everything- the toilet flushing in the room next door, the shower head when it was turned on, entire conversations that were being had. The space itself was very tiney and the pictures online were deceiving. It was a very cramped space. The lighting in the bathroom was terrible (it was so dim I had to use my cell phone flashlight.) And lastly, anytime my neighbor would go in/out of his/her room, the door would slam shut, and shake my entire hotel room wall. I finally got so fed up, I called the front desk to ask if I could be moved if they couldn't resolve this issue. I barely got any sleep and stayed only 1 night at the Wingate. I would strongly advise NOT staying here unless this is your only option.

The property is actually quite small and because there are renovations being done to the entrance, the property is not actually labeled with its name. We found it by building number only. Though I can’t complain about lack of cleanliness, per se, the common areas (the front desk, elevators, hallways, dining area) were so strongly scented with “clean linen” air freshener that it was triggering to my daughters migraines. She had to wait outside while I checked us in and we couldn’t take advantage of the continental breakfast because she couldn’t eat in the dining room. That much artificial fragrance always makes me wonder what an establishment is trying to hide. And it is really inconsiderate to a large number of fragrance sensitive guests.

Decent hotel, which I am informed, by my cousin is right in the centre of things in NYC! Hotel is within easy walking distance of tourist attractions, Penn Station and Macys. The outside of the hotel is pretty non description, its wedged between other buildings and when walking past you could almost miss it. There was building work in the area and barriers up nearby related to that. Despite appearances outside, reception was small but well presented and there was the most lovely fragrance in the air. The breakfast area is small, as others have said, there were not enough places if you wanted to eat in the room. The selection of items is fresh and plentiful. The staff were on hand keeping things in order. I grabbed my breakfast and went back to my room. Don't be fooled by the Gotham view advertised when booking. For my room, although on a high floor, for the size of the window I was looking out from, there was no view of an array of buildings or skyline. Only water tanks, other rooftops or windows of other buildings. Other than being in your room or in the breakfast area, I don't believe there are other break out areas in the hotel. Bar or restaurant for example. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would stay again. The hotel was comfortable enough (for 1 night) and well situated to do your thing, right in the centre of NYC.

Small but nice room. Only issue I had is that there isn’t a gym or even workout room. The other is that the shower barely drained. After showering for 5 minutes, I was standing in soapy/dirty water because it would hardly drain. Staff was friendly enough.

I just don’t like the parking part.

The partnered parking garage requires reservation which isn’t mentioned anywhere during booking. It was full and I was stuck driving around NYC looking for overnight parking. The street was closed to car traffic due to a parade which I also was not notified about. The breakfast area is very small so it was very crowded with nowhere to sit (both days we ate standing). The served food was scarce: coffee, eggs, bread, bacon was consistently out which created even bigger crowds standing around and waiting. The room itself was modern and clean but I would not stay there again.

It was a clean hotel, albeit very small room, nowhere to sit except on the bed really. There was a space with hangars to put jackets, but nowhere to unpack the rest (no drawers, etc.). There was no common area or drink/food after breakfast. Close to everything though. For us, expensive for what we got, but I suppose decent priced for being very close to Time Square. The staff were very nice.

Our stay went great, the security is good in the building. Staff was really nice. Although it was New Year’s Eve and our floor was very noisy all night. Walls were thin. Room was okay in size but was tight by the edge of the bed. Great view of Empire State Building. On-site parking for free. I would stay here again but maybe not on New Year’s Eve just because of traffic and noise levels

Clean convenient hotel near lots of good dining options. Easy to get to subways or hail cabs. Free breakfast was substantial with waffle machine, fresh eggs, cereals, sausages, yogurts, fresh fruit. More than I expected. The staff were all polite and helpful. Property feels very safe with 24 locked doors and needed key card to use elevator. Would highly recommend.

My wife and I spent two nights. The location is excellent, very near to the Theater District, NY Public Library, great restaurants, and Bryant Park. The room was small, but very clean, quiet, and the bed was comfy. The staff was very friendly, helpful and kind, especially Wanda and Fausto. When I clumsily cut my hand with my razor, I went to the front desk hoping that they would have have a first aid kit. They did in fact have a well stocked kit, and Wanda took the time to personally clean my nasty cut, apply triple antibiotic and fashion a bandage. I was very touched by her kindness and care. In sum our experience was very nice and we’ll definitely stay there again.

We had a great stay! Location was great, rooms were clean and nice and the breakfast was good. Stayed here for 6 nights for vacation and could definitely visit again. Staff was also kind and helpfull.

Wifi was down the whole time and I could barely get a signal on my cellular data. Electricity sockets were on and off and I couldn’t even charge my devices. The room was very cold. I tried to increase the temperature, but it didn’t work. The moment I increased the room temperature from 72 (which by the way was colder than 72) to 74_75, the thermostat would read 74-75 without even working. The rooms were supposed to be soundproof, but they were not soundproof even a bit! I could hear the people in other rooms speaking and watching the TV. I woke up several times each night because of the noises coming from the hallway (doors being shut), but didn’t hear any noise from the street. The only positive things about this hotel were the cleanliness and the location (which they are charging for!).

No internet., tiny rooms., just a complete disappointment! Never stay here again.

The rooms are about the size if a walk in closet with a queen bed and sink. Walking from the window side to the door requires you to climb over the bed.

Amazing staff. So friendly and accommodating. Rooms are tiny though. Don't be fooled by the pics. The sink is in the bed area, not bathroom. No drawers to store clothes.

I’m surprised because most of the reviews downplayed other reviews concerning the size of the room. I was surprised to arrive to the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in! If we had brought our full size suitcase it would not have fit. Many people in comments said the room was fine-albeit small. This was too small. Barely room to walk around the bed on one side. No counter space around the sink. I would rethink if you need space or have a large suitcase. Otherwise-bed and pillows comfy and hot water good pressure in shower

Computers were down at time of check in, so we couldn’t get a key or check in for about an hour. Room is super small with a view of the adjacent buildings HCAC system.

The hotel rooms were nice and modern. Shower was comfortable. Rooms were very small, even compared to other hotels in NYC I’ve been to. If you don’t have too many belongings, it’ll be fine though. The biggest issue I had was a near constant low humming in my room throughout the entire night - I think it was coming from the mini fridge. Breakfast was a tiny area, and the food was not being replenished well. I just grabbed some oatmeal and went back up.

Great location close to Bryant Park and everything else to see in NYC. Spent Christmas Eve and day. Christmas morning hotel had a water pipe mishap but it was also along the street block. No water for half day is was miserable couldn't shower and had to check out. Later we returned for luggage. Water was back on and ALEX at the Front desk was amazing and so helpful he offered a room so we can shower and freshen up before taking off. He completely turned around our Christmas day. Thank you Alex!! He was great from since we checked in. Great hotel and location.

The room was small but really well laid out. It was clean and modern. The sink was in the bedroom area which I actually liked for getting ready. However I can see how that may be an issue if there are two people staying and someone goes to the bathroom during the night. There was a creepy guy that followed me into the hotel and the hotel staff handled the situation wonderfully. I felt very safe here as a solo female traveller. The hotel was conveniently located. I walked everywhere I went.

Quick, easy, efficient and thorough check-in. Helped hold luggage for us after arriving very early on a red-eye. Got us into a room by 12:30. Staff was friendly, helpful, & courteous. Excellent experience and team!

This Wingate by Wyndham hotel exceeded my expectations. First the checking process was pleasant, friendly and fast. The breakfast was delicious and the kitchen staff was attentive to the supplies and food quantities for guests. Our room got cleaned and the bathroom was spotless. This hotel facility and staff were a Win Wyn situation!!!

Im really upset with my stay in this hotel. I travel often to nyc and never before had this issue before. I stayed in this hotel about 3 weeks ago, and usually i will pay the security deposit with my credit card using apple pay; however they informed me i couldnt use apple pay in this facility, which is why i used my debit card. The guy at the front desk, informed me it just a hold in my card. I still haven’t gotten my money back on my card, 3 weeks after me staying in this hotel. I dispute this with my bank, and they confirmed this payment hasn’t been completed by the hotel. I contacted expedia, and the hotel just gave them an excuse as to why is not back on my card. So if you’re planning to stay in this hotel, just know they will charge you $200 as a deposit and it will take weeks for you to get your money back, even if they said it just a hold in your card, if money isnt an issue for you, then go ahead.

My stay was going well until I woke up to massive amounts of charges on my credit card. I only agreed to one refundable security hold. They charged my card the security fee twice. I then noticed multiple other unauthorized charges on my credit card made by their front desk staff. I wanted to check out at noon but due to the charges I immediately went to the lobby to confront the front desk and check out because I no longer felt comfortable. They said that it was a mistake done by a new person and my money should be returned in a few days. I’m currently waiting on my funds to be refunded back to my card. They didn’t offer any incentive for the poor experience but instead brushed off like it was nothing. Please check your card balance if you stay at this hotel. I’m beyond frustrated with my experience.

Hotel was very clean & modern. Layout of room was a bit weird but good enough for 5 day stay. The area was convenient and near subway and food. The shower wasn't very good and there were 4 or 5 minor issues during my stay in the room that were minorly annoying but not a huge deal. Hotel was quiet and safe. Had a nice view of the Empire State building. Asked front desk twice for something and they didn't send it up either time as I was told. Wasn't a huge deal but should have been done. Overall it was a pleasant stay and would stay there again. Hopefully they can correct all the minor issues I experienced because the hotel has a ton of potential. I wouldn't hesitate to stay if you were on the fence about it.

The room was surprisingly quiet considering the location. We didn't hear much street noise at all during the night, even being lower on the 6th floor. The included breakfast was good, but seating is limited. One staff member could be friendlier, but overall the staff was nice and helpful. The room was small, but it's NYC, so I expected that; but it was very well laid out. Lots of space for our luggage and items still.

I stayed with here for a weekend trip with my mother. The room was a bit tight, but I expected that with nyc. The location was amazing perfect walking distances from the subway stations and 5th Avenue shopping. There is so much to do around the hotel and the workers were very helpful.

This was a great location for us. We walk for health. We did plenty. This location was wonderful for our first 3 days of our time in Manhattan. We walked to the Empire State Building, Central Park, Strawberry Fields, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, MOMA, Broadway, Hudson Yard. We took the subway south to The Battery to catch the boat to The Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island. Afterwards walked through 9/11 Memmorial, China Town to Little Italy, got a pizza. After this stay we moved onto the Bronx.

I sent a message to the hotel telling them that I would be a late arrival, 11 PM. They were ready for me when I got there and I was greeted by my name. Very friendly atmosphere. The rooms are small but very clean and everything that I needed. Internet connection was good and breakfast was included.

Great location. However, when I went down for breakfast at 9, there was no more coffee and pancake.

The front desk employees were so nice and accommodating. The breakfast is small and hectic and very anxiety inducing when it is full. Not much that can be done about that though. Food ran out very quickly, but the employee there was doing a great job at being attentive to refilling, etc.

Modern, small accommodations with fairly new, clean and well-equipped rooms, a great, clean, and up-to-date bathroom. The hotel is very centrally located (Bryant Park, Grand Central, Penn Station) but relatively quiet by New York standards. The entire staff was always very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was sufficient for a good start to the day, there was always fruit (tangerines, bananas, apples), various cereals, yogurt, toast, bagels, cake, scrambled eggs, and a waffle station. The breakfast room was always spacious and clean during our stay.

The property is situated in an area with plenty of restaurants and convenient transportation options. In terms of location, it’s excellent. However, the room is very small, and the breakfast area is also quite cramped.

Very good location. The breakfast they no serve water. They have a small thermos with water and I wait for 30 min for some water. 2 person in my front and no water. At least 20 min for they refill.they should have a little more water .

Did not like the shower. Water ran all over the floor. Ammenities like shampoo and soap are very scant. All mini sizes. Coffee in the room, only 2 regular coffee pouches. No complementary bottled water. Breakfast, very poor. Additionally the staff lets the food available to run out and takes very lo g to replenish it. Same with the coffee. Totally empty pot when I tried to serve myself. Incredibly small front desk area. Dining area also very small. For the price of one night stay, not worth it.
