Alder Hotel Uptown New Orleans

Stayed for 2 nights. Pretty clean, slightly outdated. Lacked breakfast but had coffee station. Parking across the street in sort of gated yard with security car present afterhours.

We love to stay at the Alder when we go to New Orleans. It is clean , has free parking, the rooms have microwaves and fridges and the staff have always been friendly and helpful

Overall a decent property. Extremely safe. Biggest issue was a broken elevator. Would stay again if both elevators were working

Dog friendly and free parking. Very helpful with allowing us to park our truck with a trailer attached.

This hotel was such a pleasant surprise. It was close to Tulane, restaurants and other places we visited. It has its own huge complimentary parking lot - and if you’ve ever rented a car in NOLA before you know what a plus this is. One day we had a few free hours and were able to enjoy the pool area- another plus! They have complimentary tea and coffee all day and that was a nice touch too. The room itself was comfortable, crisp clean sheets and a kitchenette - which was a surprise! The shower head could use an upgrade - but everything else outweighs this! The front office staff is so friendly we would definitely return!

I have nothing bad to say about this hitel. If you have a need to stay uptown in New Orleans, its a great choice. The coin operated laundry was a very nice touch for someone like me who travels a lot and needed to run a load or two of laundry on my stay. The hotel is super quiet. Two blocks from Freret so there are a few places to have a meal. I loved it here!

The pool was so warm, but it needed to be cleaned.

Nice sized spotless room. King room has full couch and lounge chair with tables. If you don't want to eat out every meal, kitchen has micro and fridge with grocery stores 3 mins away. Next to a medical complex so quiet at night. Free parking in surface lot across street. Restaurants within walking distance. Staff was very friendly.

The Alder is excellently managed. Very clean. And very friendly, efficient staff. I have stayed on this property numerous times and have always been pleased with my choice.

My bedding had mold and stains, the furniture was scratched up and the shower was filmy and looked really dirty. I was given another room and the carpet was dirty and the door was broken as if someone tried to break into it. The staff was really nice and understanding about how uncomfortable we were Ms left a note for the manager. I would not recommend .

The staff were nice…However, the reason I booked this hotel was because they had a balcony. It’s the worst balcony I’ve ever seen. It was very dirty and there was nothing to sit on. It was a waste of space…I doubt I will ever return.

There were just two problems with room 202: 1) The shower door needs to be adjusted so it can be closed. 2) The black electrical outlets in the hotel need to be replaced so they can be used. The openings for electrical cords are so big that the end of the cords do not make contact with the metal inside the outlet.

Clean hotel. Lots of space to put things.

Easy parking. Room was decent. Noise is only con. You can hear the walls shake when someone closes the door.

Overall it's a solid hotel that's reasonably priced, but the shower was weak and lukewarm.

Friendly staff! Larger rooms and comfortable beds. Older building that has been renovated, feels clean & modern. Liked having self-parking with the lot just across the street.

I was happy to have a balcony but disappointed because it was so small and it housed the A/C unit so it was basically unusable. Very close to Tulane which was the purpose of our stay

Super nice room with a balcony. Spacious. There was a rooster nearby that crowed for a while, but, thankfully, got quiet.

The rooms were unusually large, and I suggest they advertise that. Its a nice feature. The room has quality furnishings, bedding, better-than-most shower, etc. The hotel is a close distance to the Tulane University. The only drawback, is that the balcony that is advertised--at least on our second floor room--was not worth mentioning and was unfurnished.

Clean and spacious rooms

Pros: very convenient area of town, less than 15 min to most things, and walkable. safe area of town. right next to the hospital parking ramp that always has security out front. easy, free parking right across the street from hotel entrance. staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Con: biggest con was that this was the loudest hotel I've ever stayed in. You can hear every elevator ding, every door slam, and whole conversations in the hallway.

Wonderful property wonderful stay only complaints is the white front counter staff (she) was a lil rude and sarcastic. The poop had trash in it but over all stay was really good

Service at the front desk was extraordinary. Melinda was probably the very best "receptionist" we have encountered anywhere.

This is my second visit to this hotel! The front desk staff were amazing. Helped us figure out the bus/trolley schedule to get down town. They were very friendly. Jennifer, Caroline and Carmen were the three we had the pleasure of working with! The Jack of all trades “guy” Darnell was extremely pleasant and brought laughter to the day. The facility was clean, condo and in a safe area with free onsite parking which is a definite plus! You won’t be disappointed! Located in uptown with very easy access to public transportation

All but 2 of the staff members were rude and unprofessional. The bald doorman was nice and helpful. Upon check-in the young AA female with glasses was pleasant. The remaining staff (housekeeping, Sydni, Darnell and the night manager) were rude and unprofessional. Housekeeping changed towel and would forget to leave a full set and a floor mat for the shower for each day I was there. They were not friendly and the room looked untouched. The front desk team as previously mentioned were rude and unprofessional in their speech and behavior. This hotel lacks amenities which worsened the stay. The sitting area was nice except for all of the flies and it was evident it hang not been cleaned due to the coffee syrup stains and dusty fixtures. This was not a good experience and I frequent NOLA 1-2 times a year.

Marlene at the front desk, Abby in reservations, and Greg at the front door were exceptional! It was difficult to control the heat in the room. Instructions might be helpful as I was freezing at night. The parking was a HUGE plus, as well as 24 hrs coffee in the lobby. The room was well outfitted and that was great. The beds were very comfortable. The hotel was in a great location. I would definitely stay there again.

We had a wonderful relaxing stay at Alder Hotel. The customer service provided by Malinda was phenomenal! Malinda made us feel comfortable, helped to prepare us for our first Mardi Gras. Even going over and beyond upgrading our room to the 2nd floor where we could see all the festivals from our balcony. Room 207 was exceptionally clean. Housekeeping was the best we've ever experienced. They cleaned our room daily and were very friendly also. We travel a lot and have stayed at many hotels. This by far was our best! The highlight was Malinda monitoring Mardi Gras traffic entering the hotel. Watching her make sure no outsiders came in, made us smile. Every person who entered, Malinda stated show me your wristbands. It became routine for customers entering to show their wristbands while twisting their hand back & forth for Malinda to see :) The parking attendant men who monitored parking were great also. They made sure customers of Alder had parking and no outsiders took any our spaces. The coffee and tea was readily available, stocked, and hot. I loved this because many hotels do not offer coffee/tea 24/7 or at all. The staff at Alder collectively were great. We normally do not like staying in residential areas at hotels but was pleasantly surprised by Alder being directly in a neighborhood but was safe, ultra clean, accommodating, and not one time did we feel unsafe or uncomfortable coming or going. We stayed 5 days. Malinda by far was the best highlight of our stay!

The hotel is generall well kept, the desk staff is always prepared and well-mannered, and the doorman is a pleasure to meet and his customer service leaves nothing to be desired.

The hotel was very nice. Staff was very helpful. The area around the hotel was not very nice and I would not have felt safe walking around at night. It is quite a walk to get to get to the main attractions, but it is only about a 10 minute walk to the streetcar.

Location was good. We were in town for a concert at the Jazz and Blues Market, which was 5 minutes away. The Quarter was only 10 minutes away. The restaurants on Feret St were a short walk. Parking was free, but in an open lot just across the street, so overall good for downtown NOLA. Room was clean and comfortable, and we'd definitely stay there again.

We have stayed at the Alder on several occasions. The nearness to downtown is great, while the short distance provides some isolation, lower rates and plenty of free parking.

The front desk staff were so nice. The maintenance staff too! Everyone was so kind and accommodating. The hotel is beautiful and comfortable too. Nice stay for a nice price.

Our stay was lovely. My husband and I attended a concert over at UNO for a few nights and this was a great spot! We were close to the action of French quarter. Uber rides were less than 20 with tip to the quarter. Drove to concert and felt very safe parking and coming back in at night. Parking was easy and so nice to have in NOLA for free. We would dtay again if visoying the area.

The Alder is off the beaten path and is an excellent value. I would stay there again. We like to walk and it was very easy to walk to Tipitina's and other Uptown attractions. There are good restaurants in the area and not far from Tulane. We did walk over to the Maple Leaf and Jaques Imo's too.

The hotel and staff were great. Location was not good. Located on the same block with a hospital and parking garage, business district. Just not a good location. I chose to stay there bc it was convenient to my clinic the following day.

Centrally located in Uptown New Orleans. Beautiful property, great location, friendly staff, good amenities and free parking. CVS, Walgreens, hospital and restaurants are within walking distance. Hotel has a mid century modern feel that I absolutely love!

The Alder was a very nice, easy and conveniently located hotel. The beds were so comfortable and parking was free and across the street. Check-in and Check-out were easy and quick. Great place to stay in Uptown, right by Oschner Hospital and to visit Freret, Loyola and Tulane!

My stay was great and I will definitely be back! However, when I used to stay here a few years ago, they used to offer breakfast which was great. I would have loved it if they offered breakfast, especially for the money I'm paying.

The staff at this hotel are just lovely. This hotel has a great location for those visiting Uptown and or students at Tulane. The neighborhood is safe and there are many great restaurants in walking distance.

I liked that I was out of the way. But I was within walking distance to wherever I wanted to go, whether i was going to a restaurant, or even taking the st Charles Street car to the down town area. the coffee in lobby was good, however the grab and go stuff can use some help. No condiments. sad.

This is a very nice hotel. Classy. All the amenities. Lots of drawers and cabinets. Parking is free in a gated lot across the street. It is guarded. Located next to a hospital. There was food available in the lobby to purchase and heat up in our room. There are real plates, glasses, cups and silverware in our room. We had a wonderful breakfast at a cafe down the block. This is close to Tulane university.
