The Crown Pub & Guesthouse

We enjoyed the atmosphere overall, staff was friendly, the room was clean, just quite small and no elevators for moving luggage. It was also a little out of the way for our purposes

Fabulous guesthouse attached to a brilliant traditional pub both the room itself and the nightlife in the bar made it a great spot. The Crown was clean, comfortable and we can't speak more highly of hosts as we was made to feel ever so welcome. We will certainly be back!! Just a couple of mins walks from nearest tube station the entire city of London is easily accessible and a such a reasonable rate you will do well to find anywhere better.

The hotel is located above a pub in Hackney Central. The pub closes at 11 p.m. and I never had a problem with noise. The room was small but had a very comfortable bed. The water pressure and temperature were excellent (and I was on the 3rd of 4 floors). All staff were friendly and helpful. I loved the area - real people, no pretensions, and very few "chain" shops. It's a pleasant 5-10 minute walk to the Hackney Central overground train station.

Great place to stay. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful and gave us suggestions. The bar was cozy and and the hotel is quiet at night after the bar closes. Would definitely stay here again

the staff were really welcoming, the location was perfect for our plans, we ordered two twin rooms, which were in fact bunk beds!, this was not an issue as they were wide bunk beds and extremely comfortable, but I would not want to have shared the room for a second night! the shower was tremendous, the facilities were superb and the bedding lovely we went to a show, but were still able to order drinks as we were residents, which was nice, the bar was lively with lot of friendly people and a great atmosphere - I would recommend the Crown to everyone!

Gem of a place 15 mins from Liverpool Street. Jay the Barman is an absolute legend. Room was excellent, very modern and clean. Only. 5 min walk from Hackney downs station. Nice bar especially when football is on.

I only stayed for one night, but thought my one night was fabulous. Check in was easy. Serena was absolutely lovely & very welcoming. I was a late check in & she was kind enough to offer me a sandwich. Room was ideal for me. The decor is as good as it looks in the pictures and the room is extremely clean and cozy. The bed amazingly comfortable. The bar was busy & reasonably loud, however, didn't affect me in my room. Would stay again.

It was a room for two nights to watch the rugby at White Hart Lane. Good location for Hackney Downs and the rail to White Hart Lane.folks were super friendly and room was good. Not too much to do nearby, but that wasn't the reason for staying - which was access and location. FYI it's a pub, so super quiet it isn't, but super friendly it is

The Crown Pub and guesthouse is a gem clean, comfortable and friendly. You will not find better team of staff anywhere each and every one of them is friendly, fun and go above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed to have great break many thanks highly recommend

The room was really comfortable and clean.

Very clean and comfortable, friendly staff on check in, nice room all round. The area is quite run down and the pub downstairs is a real, traditional boozer that might put off people who are used to gastropubs, but it shouldn't. Very convenient, short walk from the Overground. Buses to Oxford Circus and elsewhere from just outside.

I messaged the guesthouse several times before our stay to ask for early check in at midday as hubby works nights & unexpectedly had to work the night before meaning he’d had no sleep. No response. When we arrived a staff member said it would be £20 for early check in. She then spoke with the housekeeper & said it’s ok because as it happens she’s cleaning our room now anyway. So we bought some drinks from the bar whilst we waited, paying a different member of staff. When the original lady came back she came and asked us for the £20! And all for nothing as hubby got no sleep anyway as there were 2 very heavy and noisy fire doors right outside our room which were constantly banging day and night. We were also opposite the cleaning cupboard and the housekeeper and other staff having very loud conversations with no thought to the guests. We could hear everything from the room above with constant banging and loud TV. Even the plumbing screamed at me for the entire time I was showering! Bed was clean and comfortable but the room has seen better days. Dirty carpet with a big iron burn mark. Dirty towel rail and we couldn’t use the TV as the remove control was sticky & covered in gunk! Big spiders webs on the table and chairs so I couldn’t sit on the terrace which was the main reason I picked the room. We came back at 11.30pm on Friday the pub was full so thought we’d have a drink but we were shouted at by staff memberto use the other entrance and go to our rooms! Not a great stay.

Nice and convenient place to stay in Hackney. A little old and the bathrooms were tiny, more like a closet but they were functional and clean. Staff downstairs at the pub were very helpful and friendly. Overall a good place for a few nights.

We stayed at the new guest house above the 1/2 Crown & Pub, apparently the first ones to do so. The room was brand new. It was very clean, nicely put together, and had updated touches. The only gripe I had about the room is that it was small and the bathroom has a barn door, which can be a little awkward when it's more than one person staying in the room. Anyway, when we arrived at the Crown Pub, we were instantly greeted and checked-in and our host was enthusiastic, which was well appreciated. We ended up hanging around with the regulars and had a few pints. Later when we came back, we spent some time at the 1/2 Crown downstairs and again, had a really good time. Our host was there behind the bar and everyone treated us well. The experience was great so far. So I understand we're staying at a guest house at a pub, and it was a Friday night. We were expecting it to be noisy a bit late as people are starting their weekend. I even asked the bartender when they'd be shutting down. I was informed around midnight... Until we were subjected to a group blasting disco, dancing until 3:15am. I don't think they would've stopped until I went downstairs to ask them to. The obviously drunk guy I talked to was very rude and condescending, but the host finally popped out and asked if it was too loud and turned it down. Neither my partner or I got much sleep that night. I'm not sure why they thought it was acceptable to do that to their brand new guests, but that was our experience.

Spotlessly clean, recently refurbished, lovely firm bed, quiet despite being above a pub, easy access, douche shower, friendly and helpful staff. Superb breakfast over the road at Palaette.

SUCH a fabulous place! The room was gorgeous with a fabulous terrace. All the staff in the pub and guesthouse were so lovely and so friendly. We stayed two nights and didn't want to leave! Thank you for making us so welcome - we'll definitely be back!

Stayed one night for an event just literally down the road, a couple of minutes' walk. Easy check-in. Cosy and warm pub, busy with a welcoming vibe. Room was warm and comfortable. Shower room/toilet small so not great if you're a large person, but OK for us (the sliding door was broken so would not pull across totally). Really comfortable bed and pillows. The stand-out feature at this place was the very friendly and welcoming staff! Would definitely stay here again if visiting the same area.

This small pub/ boozer had wonderful hosts and a charming and diverse crowd of old and younger people from the neighborhood (but no kids). It felt - and sounded - like a party from 11 AM and to 11 PM. Rooms 1 and 2 (with a terrace) are directly over the pub and were vibrating every night with the music from below. The bed was great but the cleaning could be better - mudstained carpet, limescale in the bathroom, grease on the window glass, and our stained bedlinen was not changed until we asked specifically for it. We might stay here again because of the nice atmosphere and the great location - just a small walk to two stations, and a lively pedestian street with many shops - but we would choose the more quiet rooms in the top of the house.

Great place in great location. Friendly welcome. Spacious room with lovely balcony. Clean white fresh bedding and towels. Pub was lively but this was not a surprise and nor did it go on too late. Only downside was luke warm hot water.

Great location near public transport, lovely staff. Can be loud at night but this was no issue for us. Easy to walk to shops, restaurants, cafe and catch the train. Bed was comfortable and clean.
