Hilton Garden Inn Downtown Birmingham

This hotel is connected to a Home2 hotel so the common areas were very busy. The breakfast buffet was $19 person but was not worth it at all. Very unappealing, lacked variety of hot breakfast options and it did not help that the adjoining hotel offered free breakfast that was at least complimentary or better than the $19 breakfast we got. The hotel rooms were clean and cozy however, the common areas had stained rugs and dirty floors (dirt and spills) that didn't get addressed in a timely manner. The staff was helpful and polite. It was a busy time at the hotel which could expain the upkeep of the common areas.

The check-in experience was great. However, on the day of check-out, all three elevators were out of service, and there was no assistance available. I had to carry three heavy suitcases on my own, which made the departure quite challenging.

Hotel was great they were resurfacing the entire parking lot and offered no convenient options for using sidewalks, having all sidewalks roped off.

Took over 35 minutes to check in. Then had to go back and get new key cards the first set would not open security gate.

Area around the hotel was not the best but there was a restaurant/bar in the hotel so that made it better. I was over charged on the meal I had at the restaurant/bar by 25 dollars. I will call the bank tomorrow morning to address this issue.

The hotel was very impressive. Had a great restaurant inside. Very clean and staff was very attentive. Very quiet. Highly recommend to fellow travelers. Only drawback was had to pay $20. for parking.

After seeing some negative reviews I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of hospitality here. Destiny at the front desk gave a warm welcome. The building was clean and up-to-date throughout. This is a busy location with another adjoining hotel, so there was a short wait to check-in. There were plenty of elevators to keep up with everyone, though. My room had everything I needed, including ample electrical outlet options. The fitness room had many options including ellipticals, a recumbent bike, and two Pelotons. (My only gripe is that I couldn't adjust the music blaring in the empty room during my workout.) The surrounding area felt safe but mostly corporate - having a bar and restaurant in the lobby was helpful. A large Children's Hospital is next door but I never heard any ambulance noise. Overall this was a wonderful hotel stay and I would absolutely return next time I'm in Birmingham.

Room keys were all not working so we had to have someone let us in our room anytime we left. Staff was very friendly & we know it wasn’t their fault but very inconvenient for us

The staff was trying very hard to keep up but with the entire hotel not able to use room keys, it was an impossible task.

When you check in at the hotel I was not aware that there were two hotels in the building. I was guided behind the front desk from the other hotel. Basically, the hotel was sharing space. Another mis-leading information were the resturant. I was to receive a free breakfast in the morning. Again, I was not informed that the left side of the hotel is a paid bteakfast, but the right side of the hotel (lobby area) was the free breakfast for the hilton garden in guest. Right after we finished breakfast I was given a bill. I told the waiter that I was a guest at Hilton garden inn. The waiter told me the free breakfast was at the other side off the lobby area. I was upset and brought this matter to the front desk. All the clerk said was ,"I'm sorry." She was unable to remedy my problem. Fyi: make sure when you check in to a hotel with two

Check-in took to long,hallways was dirty,ice machine didn’t work,room was dirty,tub had tissue in it and no bath towels.

The room was clean and guest services were very friendly. The front desk staff was very friendly as well.

Loud outside noise sounded like a dumpster and train carts hitting each other. The room seemed clean but the hallways were not , dead bugs on the floor, the elevator was nasty and the breakfast was not up to part.

The girls at the desk were very friendly. The shower pan in the room was filthy. The bed was so soft you just sank down. Not good on a bad back.

The room was clean, and the lobby smelled terrific and was festively decorated. The carpet in the hallway between the elevator and room 502, however, was disgusting and dirty. Spot after spot of major spills left way too long. Some looked like food or drinks, while others seemed more like vomit!

We stayed here for two nights recently and would definitely stay here again. Everything was clean, our bed was very comfortable and the staff was super friendly. There was plenty of on site parking, and close to the interstate and walking distance to several restaurants. The only negative was the window shades do not block out the light very well which bothered me a little but the area outside our window wasn’t super bright so it didn’t keep me awake.

Upon entering, I can see the door vinyl by the lock cracked to the wood inside. Almost as the door had been tampered with before. I didn’t worry so much due to the safety locks inside. My bathroom drained was stopped up. Janitor did come to assist. Refrigerator not working as well as the slow running and low pressure shower water. The shower only ran steaming hot water. Janitor and front desk associate Destiny were very helpful for my one night stay.

The room was very nice and the beds and pillows very comfy but our shower did not work well and the hot/cold face plate was not secure to the wall so it was hard to tell which way to turn the faucets. Our coffee maker did not work either. I think it was clogged up, it took a long time to heat up and only produced about a quarter cup of coffe. Also around 3 am. someone banged on our door and i jumped out the bed and looked through the peep hole and saw 2 young men standing at the door and when i said "can i help you" one ran off and the other walked away but it sounded like they continued to bang on doors down the hall. My sister was on another floor and was also woken up by what she described as the 2 same men banging on her room door as well. I mentioned it to the front desk the next morning. It made me feel a little unsafe. 20.00 a day to park, 5.00 for a bottle of soda and 17.99 for breakfast sems like very expensive extras to me. We chose to eat at a breakfast place down the street and witnessed a car jacking. This our first time visiting Birmingham.

Beautiful hotel with polite and friendly staff. Room was clean. It had a large tub and separate shower. However the water never really got hot enough for me. My bed was also not very comfortable- you could hear the springs as you sit down on it. Also, My room was on second floor and I could hear loud music from parking lot after midnight. Finally breakfast was $18 but it appeared burnt (potatoes and eggs)so I went somewhere else to eat. There were other options close by that were cheaper like McDonald’s or Waffle House. Still it was a convenient option for my stay.

You can hear everything a room above. Receptiontist put you on hold.

The hotel is very clean and the lobby area is nice. The bed was not comfortable and the pillows need to be replaced. We didn't eat there so I have no review for that.

Attentive and friendly staff. I made a mistake and booked for the wrong date, but the manager was accommodating and still found a room.

Had a terrible dining service experience. My wife and I ordered two salads and 2 glasses of wine. After 45 minutes all we had was waters and wines (and then only after asking twice). 45 minutes later, still no salads. Having given up on the salads, we got up to leave for our room with wines in hand. One food service employee nodded knowingly as if to say, “I don’t blame you”. In the lobby another employ ran over to us and and yelled that if we didn’t pay for the wine she would call the police! After protesting a bit I gave her our room number. This was no way for her to handle a customer service issue.

We enjoyed our stay. Karren, FD reception was welcoming and efficient at checkin. Tisa was amazing at both of our stays at this Hilton. She is kind to everyone and a joy to see first thing in the morning.

Our stay at the hotel was great and they were very accommodating despite the check-in issue we had (which was totally NOT the hotel's fault).

We got there almost two hours after our check in time and were told our room wasn’t ready. We started to panic because we had somewhere to be and needed to shower/get dressed. Amanda at the front desk saved the day!! I love how accommodating they were and how quickly they problem solved so we could get where we needed to be!

Not good. Front desk service was rude and not friendly. Never any eye contact Did not welcome to hotel. Inconvenienced by Keycard not working. Curtain not on track hanging down, light bulb out in bathroom and very thin walls! Called FD and she had no one to come change bulb while we were out. Very disappointing for the $$$.

Staff was wonderful

We dealt with three staff members. They were not trained in good customer service. We were given a room with a blocked, unflushable toilet. No apologies. Bad, sullen attitude. No apology. The second room was okay. Then they charged us for parking which we did not use. We asked that charge to be removed. Sullen attitude again. Finally after 10 minutes of incompetence, a manager took over, but explained the "accountant" would have to remove the erroneous charge. No apologies. This place really has poor customer relations. We heatedly do NOT recommend it.

The food was pricey and the kitchen was out of a lot of listed menu items. Our server was wonderful, however! He was very polite and courteous, I wish I’d written his name down. Before checking in we waited in the area near the televisions and that area had dirty tables and the bathrooms were not very clean either. O expected so much more from a Hilton property!

This Hilton Garden Inn is attached to Homewood Suites. The first morning I went to the breakfast area. I paid $22.00 for fresh made runny eggs, bacon that tasted almost spoiled, a blueberry muffin and some fruit. Morning 2 we saw complimentary breakfast on the other side. So we went there. A woman asked us our room number and then rudely told us we had to go to the other side. We couldn't eat there. We left.

We came down to get breakfast they told us they were closed when all the food was still out not cover but beside the breakfast part it was a great stay .

Hotel is located close to dining options to walk to. Breakfast is not free and the bar shuts down before it is supposed to but all in all I would stay here again.

Our checkin, hospitality of staff and room was "excellent" up until we decided to get breakfast, and discovered $18 (17.99) per person. Why???? Continental Breakfast is the way, especially if you are not able to choose what's available.

Nice hotel. Howevever, they wanted to charge us $20 per person for what appeared to be a very limited and poor quality breakfast. We had understood that it would be included in our rate since I am Hilton Honors

The entire visit was exceptional- from check in, to the room, to the bar n grill, to breakfast and housekeeping. Highly recommend staying with the Hilton. Thank you. KJ and Tiffany with breakfast made sure our dining experience was good. The food was delicious.
