Staff was wonderful. The room also! Parking however is problematic. Extremely narrow spiral driveway up to third level. If you have a large vehicle do not go up parking ramp and talk to attendant about alternatives. Parking is NOT connected to hotel entrance. You must park then walk outside to enter hotel! This is our only negative.

Great property and good breakfast , location is a plus , staff is very friendly and helpful ! My son wasn’t well and they helped us a lot with housekeeping ! Laundry for a family is also a good option. Close to balboa park , downtown and pier and easy access to highway . Parking is available with a charge .

Parking situation was not great, for the price that I paid I was expecting a room to have cleaning service and that was not provided. Unfortunately, the property does not have its own pool so you are required to ask the hotel next-door to use their pool. Room was very clean. I am happy with that. I do feel like the front desk. Staff could be more helpful and professional.

Pros: It was a nice place the staff is excellent and extremely nice. Free breakfast Robot that brings things to your room Clean Cons: the parking is very limited underground No vale No elevator Only 1 entrance so if you find parking on the 3rd floor you need to carry your luggage with you up or down the 2 or 3 floors Must have your room key with you at all times Photos of room are a little misleading it’s smaller then expected

I didn't like the setup. The hotel and the parking structure were not close. We had to walk a ways to get to the hotel lobby after we parked, and had it not been for a parking attendant I wouldn't have known what was going on. There was no carts available to help transport luggage from the parking structure to the hotel. Lastly, the exhaust fan in the bathroom didn't work. When I reported it to the lobby attendant she told me none of them work. that means they're all been disconnected. I've not stayed in any hotel worth it's name that didn't have that device working when it was installed when the place was built. Makes no sense to me.

Parking structure is located next to the hotel. Which is terrible for checking in, pictures are from the hotel near the pier and not the downtown location. Hotel floor smelled and very dim lighting in the garage.

The hotel is very nice, the breakfast very simple and my complaint is that after our first night no one came to clean our room or change our towels, I had to go to reception the next day to ask them to please do it.

I loved Heather the manager. Always helpful with a smile. I would have liked to have had someone get my bags to the check in point. On the second day the maid service forgot our room. We were upset because we had spent the day at the zoo and just wanted a shower. We had no towels.

The service was great! It is ourdated but in a nice location so for the price, it’s worth it. I would suggest they do a better job of cleaning overall. In our room alone, there was this thick stain on the carpet & the bathroom was a tad dirty. Other than that, we had a great time!

The positives are that the hotel in appearance is nice and they have the breakfast dialed in. (Great options and food was good) The negatives are parking and the odors. NO WHERE on my reservation does it state that you have to pay another $40 a night to park here. I have re-read and went over the contract of reservation multiple times and it is stated no where. Given the additional cost I would have stayed closer in town to Little Italy or the water. The other negative is the overwhelming smell of URINE. In the stairways and our room. It was heavily covered up by some fragrance. I called down as it was so bad and they lied and said the hotel was fully booked. I logged in and they had multiple rooms available on their site to book same day. We ended up buying glade plug ins at the CVS down the street and even then, the odor was terrible.

The not downside was that parking costs $35 but other than that my stay was great. Wonderful smell and clean room upon arrival. The bathroom was spotless. No noise at all. Recommended!!!

If you stay more than one night, there is no room service (no clean towels, no fresh bed sheets, no clean dishes, no clean room/ bathroom and no trash service) Although you pay the same rate as the 1st but the 2nd or 3rd night etc., you will not get the same service. Even you complain, the manager states (it's company policy) but there is absolutely no disclaimer of such at the time of reservation or even check in. The room I stayed it was dirty and filthyI have the pictures. I asked the housekeeper staff if they can clean our rooms she didn’t understand what we were asking. She refused to give the extra towels. Parking space is limited when you have a suv or pick up.

The inside of the hotel and our room were clean. We had access to a small kitchenette with stove, sink & fridge. If you’re staying in SD > 1 day, this would come in handy. Staff were friendly and professional. The free breakfast buffet was good. The only things we didn’t like were 1) the room got unbearably hot even though the AC was set at the lowest setting. Whole family woke-up sweating that night, and it was hard falling back to sleep; 2) the elevator broke down the next day. Luckily our room was on the 2nd floor and we only had to mange a few flights of stairs. But, the issue was the heat! I noticed how hot it was walking from our room to the stairwell. It made me question whether there was also an AC issue on that floor, AND 3) parking was hard to find; went around twice looking for it, only to find it after paying at the public parking kiosk in front of the hotel. Their hotel parking was situated a few feet on the right hand side of it ( if you’re facing the hotel). It would be helpful if they made the sign bigger. Would have preferred parking at their parking structure for more safety.

Nice place. Seemed clean, no weird smells. Room had a kitchenette and fridge. I really liked the bathroom set up. The shower had an enclosed stall the length and width of a tub, without the tub. Sliding glass door rather than a curtain. It curved out as well which was nice. Would have been nice for mirror to have that little heated spot to reduce the fog after a shower. My room had no view. The parking situation was ok. Turning inside the garage was very tight even for my small sedan. No interior connection from hotel to parking lot. Plenty of spots to eat and Balboa Park were within walking distance. Overall a pleasant stay

The hotel does not have their own dedicated parking. The elevators at the parking lot did not work. The gate machines did not work. The hotel did not honor the reservation and instead gave us a random room that was not what we reserved.

Had a great stay. Staff was great especially the day staff, went above and beyond to give us suggestions on what to see while we were there. Also had some amazing recommendations for food options as well. Room was clean and super comfortable. Took advantage of the kitchen 1 night. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others. Breakfast was good. Every morning had different options. Felt safe. I would stay again

I would like to give special recognition to the front desk staff Rolando and Heather for making my stay, nothing short of amazing. Rolando, allowed an early check-in free of charge as he understood that I had been traveling from afar and completely exhausted from my trip. They both were courteous, and professional people. Hotel and staff were exceptional. The facilities were nice. I don’t like the fact you had to pay extra for parking and parking is not connected to the property. Also the area of town has a lot of panhandlers and homeless people. Can be uneasy at times when walking around town.

The breakfast area is way too small. Not enough seating and people are on top of each other. Maybe if they extended the hours that might alleviate the issue. I didn’t feel safe walking after 6:00 PM. The smell of urine is terrible. I would not stay in this part of the city again.

What a fantastic place! The customer service was top notch...probably the best I have ever experienced. Very up-to-date decor, so clean and comfortable. Awesome included breakfast in the mornings. The rooms were everything! Cozy beds, great pillows, well lit. Just an overall 10 out of 10! About 15 minute walk to the waterfront and Little Italy.

We decided to stay at this hotel as it was close proximity to balboa park as we came to do the rock and roll race. Our first impression was - why are there guards in the front door region? We didn’t notice anything until we walked one block south to find off people sleeping out on the streets. The smell was not pleasant around the city. Gaslamp was nearby and same with the restaurants. They are all within walking distance, but I didn’t feel safe walking alone. The area is so so but close to the park which was the start line and nest finish which was union and ash street, I had a car so it was convenient to go to mission Bay Area which was nice, The hotel itself was nice and new - nice kitchen area in the room. Staff very nice and included breakfast. Overall it is a nice hotel and location. I’m just not happy about the outside life that occurs around this restaurant.

Townplace is a bit further down from Gaslamp but it was such a great location for us. Right in the center of Balboa Park, Little Italy, and Gaslamp! And so many great food options nearby (besides Gaslamp, ofc). Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Room was clean, well kept, and modern. We enjoyed our stay so much and can’t want to be back.

The breakfast choices were not good. It was all carbs every day. One day was a biscuit and sausage. Suggestion: have more options and have plain scrambled eggs because not everyone enjoys spinach and eggs

The property was clean, the staff was great, but they need some improvement with the breakfast. The one person replenishing the food was overwhelmed. They only have one toaster, the line was long waiting to toast your bread/muffin/bagel.
