We came for the spa but the grotto was closed for renovations when we got there. Room was nice especially the bathroom but bed was hot (mattress protector), broken cabinet pull, and no coffee in room. Continental breakfast was great though and interior is very unique

My second time staying here. Absolutely love the ambiance. Staff is always so friendly and welcoming. Only downside was this time the soak spa pool was closed and that was my top reason for rebooking.

Beautiful, classy, cozy stay at the Detroit Club. This was, by far, one of the best hotels in which we have ever stayed. Next time we will be sure to enjoy the spa. We loved the library bar (Michael took great care of us) and the cigar room. Old school style :)

The Detroit Club was a beautiful experience! The room was clean, unique, and lavish! The salt water grotto was so serene, the staff was friendly, and every room had something special to offer. From the old-fashioned phone booths, the chandeliers, the bar, the restaurant, the elevator, the staircase. We loved it all! I would not recommend their breakfast, but I wasn’t bothered by it not being great because everything else exceeded expectations. Go to The Hudson Cafe for breakfast instead!

When we arrived the clerk was sitting in his car out front - there were steps up to the property - he eventually got out of his car and we weren’t sure what to do and went in - he never offered to help with our bags - grotto was not working, no food service on a Monday - he was not interested in being of assistance - woman the next morning when we checked out was lovely

The room was great. The bed frame had a break as well as the bench at the end of the bed. Unfortunately the spa and all amenities (bar, restaurant, lounge) were closed during our stay. The environment was classy. Loved the jacuzzi in our room. The linens were the most amazing I’ve ever experienced. Clean.

My husband and I stayed here to celebrate our 20th anniversary. The hotel was beautiful. I loved the history behind the building. We really enjoyed the bar in the library with live music on Saturday night. The room was clean and comfortable. Will definitely be back!

My stay at The Detroit Club was fantastic. Check in was smooth and the spa suite was clean as well. The location next to the People Mover also made this property such a great place to stay. They have a restaurant on the premises but I did not have the chance to eat there but it smelled good at least. I did eat at the Anchor bar which was like a 3 minute walk away from the hotel. I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Detroit.

I am so happy I chose this property to stay! It was easy to drive up to the front door and a valet took my car. The check-in and check-out went smoothly. Even offered me champagne. The hotel is beautiful! So many rooms and amenities to use and explore. My room was amazing, large, clean and high-class. There was a beautiful spa to use and had an amazing massage the next day. I will definitely be staying again and recommending to others.

The staff were all nice enough and some of them really stood out in terms of customer service. The rugs in our room were filthy. There were several bulbs out in the bathroom. Why would there be no light for the makeup mirror when the lighting of the bathroom is so dim? The restaurant only opens for dinner and only on some nights.

overall it was good..nice room... great shower...the room didnt have a table or chair and only 2 outlets which makes charging phones and watches tricky...The biggest issue was they had some xfinity smasung tv and it didnt have the basic channels no nbc abc fox or cbs. Well this is a major issues during football season i couldnt watch any college football Saturday we are in michigan and not even big ten network and sunday no nfl this almost ruined my trip.

Service was great but not very polished. Interestingly, you sign a dress code when you register, which isn't mentioned anywhere on their profile. The club is very cool, beautiful old world Detroit style. Room was well maintained but the bed we had was very uncomfortable and the air conditioner was very noisy. Likely wouldn't stay there again.

The property itself was beautiful. But unfortunately the room they had us in had its thermostat connected to the one next door. That made it unbearable and we were unable to sleep at night because it was way too warm in the room. The manager did nothing about it. Never called back. Kept calling the front desk but they didnt get authorized for us to change rooms until 2am! I would never stay here again.

The hotel is small and quaint. Staff is friendly and helpfull. My room 209 was horrrible, there was a continuos noise from outside that never stopped. The night before my marathon the hotel put on a halloween party that lasted until 2 am, lots of people yelling, drinking, hallways were full of people so all the runners staying at the hotel got 2 to maybe 3 hours sleep. worst nightmare ever. No money was refunded, nor did they offer anything not even an apoplogy. We shouldn't have apid for the horrible night.

Upon pulling up there was no valet outside so we just parked out front, later told there was a valet and he would park our car.... but still first impressions. We checked in, and went to our room to find that it was at 63 with the AC running, Mind you it is March and 54 outside. Went back to front desk and was told "since it is an old building a bunch of the rooms are controlled together. Someone else complained they were hot. We can give you a space heater" after asking to speak to a manager, who could not be located, another gentleman found a solution and we got heat running. The bar tender was amazing and bought us drinks for the inconvenience. Overall it is an interesting place, the experience got better between the bartender and the woman working the checkout but we would not return. Oh- and window in the room was painted shut. Not a safe or good feeling!

I never got to stay in the room because the hotel cancelled my room and never communicated it to me. They claimed to cancel the room days before the reservation, but Expedia did not email me until after I tried to check in. It was a horrible experience. The front desk agent was very nice, but at no point did any manager offer to talk to me or help me find another place to stay.

This was our second time staying here and we will never stop coming back . The staff and the service are amazing and we want to give a big thank you to sienna . She is nothing short of the best and goes above and beyond for every single guest she comes into contact with . the hotel is beautiful with old charm and is wonderfully romantic. worth every single penny .

Beautiful property filled with disrespectful staff. I stayed at this hotel for two nights in the spa Jacuzzi suite celebrating my 43rd birthday in Detroit. Valet parking was $35 per night and the service was deplorable. I waited 25 minutes at 10:30 pm for anyone to show up at valet. Only for an older white man to disrespect me regarding needing to be valet parked. It was unbelievable. I complained to management and they sent me a bottle of rosé to my room. The next morning upon exiting the elevator I was questioned by a middle-aged black woman regarding what room I was in. When I asked her for what reason, she began to speak under her breath as if I offended her and huff really loudly. And checkout day I was greeted at 11:03 by Strong knock on my door stating anytime after 11 o'clock it's gonna be $50 extra. And they walked away. I could only laugh at some of the events that happened at this hotel negatively because the entire time I had an awesome amazing Spirit because I was celebrating God's gift of another year of life. So I simply just ignored these several things to not ruin my staycation. This hotel was absolutely beautiful place but I would never ever return to receive the treatment I received after paying $300 a night for a room.

Only for an older white man to disrespect me regarding needing to be valet parked. It was unbelievable. I complained to management and they sent me a bottle of rosé to my room. The next morning upon exiting the elevator I was questioned by a middle-aged black woman regarding what room I was in. When I asked her for what reason, she began to speak under her breath as if I offended her and huff really loudly. And checkout day I was greeted at 11:03 by Strong knock on my door stating anytime after 11 o'clock it's gonna be $50 extra. And they walked away. I could only laugh at some of the events that happened at this hotel negatively because the entire time I had an awesome amazing Spirit because I was celebrating God's gift of another year of life. So I simply just ignored these several things to not ruin my staycation. This hotel was absolutely beautiful place but I would never ever return to receive the treatment I received after paying $300 a night for a room.

When we arrived the clerk was sitting in his car out front - there were steps up to the property - he eventually got out of his car and we weren’t sure what to do and went in - he never offered to help with our bags - grotto was not working, no food service on a Monday - he was not interested in being of assistance - woman the next morning when we checked out was lovely

Was a beautiful hotel but for starter checked in super late and had to wait in lobby for 30 mins waiting on an employee to come back to the front desk. Then was sent to the wrong room. After room situation was fixed was put in a room that wouldnt warm up. Had the heat on highest setting but room stayed 68 so getting out of the hot tub was terrible. Then i asked for a late check out seeing that i checked in at 10pm was told no. The free breakfast was old and microwave eggs and warm oj and stale bread. Beautiful building but very poorly ran.

My stay at The Detroit Club was fantastic. Check in was smooth and the spa suite was clean as well. The location next to the People Mover also made this property such a great place to stay. They have a restaurant on the premises but I did not have the chance to eat there but it smelled good at least. I did eat at the Anchor bar which was like a 3 minute walk away from the hotel. I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Detroit.

The Detroit Club was a beautiful experience! The room was clean, unique, and lavish! The salt water grotto was so serene, the staff was friendly, and every room had something special to offer. From the old-fashioned phone booths, the chandeliers, the bar, the restaurant, the elevator, the staircase. We loved it all! I would not recommend their breakfast, but I wasn’t bothered by it not being great because everything else exceeded expectations. Go to The Hudson Cafe for breakfast instead!

The staff were all nice enough and some of them really stood out in terms of customer service. The rugs in our room were filthy. There were several bulbs out in the bathroom. Why would there be no light for the makeup mirror when the lighting of the bathroom is so dim? The restaurant only opens for dinner and only on some nights.

Overall good stay and most of the staff were very helpful. Good: Beautiful exterior, bar areas etc. Clean room. Bad: We were told on arrival that there was a policy of the door being locked at 12. We explained that we were travelling from the UK and having trouble with our phone networks, so could not make calls. We were assured that someone on the desk would hear knocks and let us in. On the last night we returned to the hotel at 23.30 to find it locked early. Knocked on the door for 20 minutes before being let in by a staff member who had been "running errands". Inconvenient and all due to saving the cost of one staff member overnight despite the rates paid for the stay. Parking also extortionate, recommend using one of the multiple car parks within a block such as the Shelby Street Garage (no return)

The hotel is very historic and comfortable. We had a refrigerator in our room that we had to unplug due to how loud it buzzed. The hotel is cute but older so go here knowing that it will have so quirks. I would however, stay here again. It was close to things and quiet.
