Buck Meadows Lodge

The photos are misleading- the pool is attached to a hotel next door 5 minutes walk away through a car park. The room hadn’t been cleaned properly- there was left over food in the fridge. The fridge wasn’t cold enough and the dial had been removed so you can’t adjust it. However the motel is convenient for Yosemite. The staff in the restaurant were friendly and helpful despite being very over-worked.

The hotel is conveniently located and features a great restaurant offering a variety of options for both vegetarians and meat lovers, a swimming pool, and quiet, comfortable rooms. Our double-Queen room (601) was adjacent to the restaurant, but apart from some noise from the walkway, we didn't hear from the actual restaurant itself. The beds were firm yet comfortable, the bathroom was clean and spacious with plenty of hot water, and the towels were plush. We loved the large in-room mini fridge and the TV had a good selection of cable channels, including Disney. One big perk was that the nightstand had multiple USB power plugs, which were very convenient for recharging our devices after a long day at the park. Parking was extremely convenient, right in front of our room. Our only (very) minor concerns were that the room felt a bit dimly lit at times, and the AC unit was quite noisy. I'd def stay again when visiting Yosemite!

The property was great! Parking is right by lodging so easy to traverse with my mom who has a hard time walking every now and then. Pool and hot tub were a plus. Spacious room to relax after a long day. Staff was sweet and accommodating. 10/10!

We enjoyed our stay. It was incredibly convenient, the food was great(we ate several meals there), and the service was excellent!! The room was good, but simple. On the down side, the shower pressure could have been better and the dumpster was outside our door, so the garbage truck was, too, a few times-and loud. They do not provide daily maid services and we almost ran out of toilet paper one day, but overall, it was all good and affordable. A general store would have been so helpful for odds and ends! Overall, we really enjoyed it and would return in a heartbeat!!

Great little lodge just outside of Yosemite. I stayed here for a night after a 4 day backpacking trip and it was the perfect spot to rest and recover. The onsite laundry facility and restaurant make it a great home base for exploring the park.

Washing machine wasn’t working (it took my money and didn’t do anything) I told the manager and he said it’s not his problem. I told him to give me the money that the machine took and he rolled his eyes. He gave me my money back after much insistence. Then one of the gentlemen working at this establishment dropped a bag of housekeeping laundry on the hood of my car from the second level. He apologized, and ordinarily I’d laugh it off but this is a level of inhospitality and unprofessionalism that deserves mentioning. Everyone has bad days, but I won’t be returning.

This is our favorite spot to stay outside of Yosemite Park. We stay in one of the 2 cabins. Seasonally the restaurant attached to the hotel has good food and friendly service. There are chargers for ev cars on the property provided by Electrify America.

This was probably the worst booking I have ever made. Location is nice, close to Yosemite. However, it already has a late check in at 4:30 and they weren't ready until 5:00. When I mentioned the inconvenience due to having kids I was told 4:30 is “the earliest” they’re ready. When I asked if we could use the pool while we waited, I was told no, that would be a liability. Once we finally got into our hotel our TV didn’t work. They have direct TV, but ours wasn’t set up. It wasn’t glitching, the monitor was quite literally not linked. When I called the front desk I was told the tech guy leaves at 5:00, so there is nothing they could do. Yet, I didn’t even get in my room before that time. When I asked if I could switch rooms, or be reimbursed I was told there was nothing they can do. Again, I have kids. We are not an iPad family, so having no TV wasn’t great. Once we finally made it to the pool, the spa was down. This hotel is rundown and overpriced and the customer service is horrible.

Conveniently located near the west entrance of Yosemite National Park. Clean rooms, plenty of parking, access to swimming pool and kid's play area.

Stayed in one of the cabins for five nights. Very quiet, easy parking and friendly staff. Lucky Buck Cafe on-site was decent and reasonably priced. Good price and value for proximity to Yosemite. I would stay here again.

We recently stayed at Buck Meadows Lodge from Thursday, July 31st to Friday, August 1st. I have never said this to a hotel in a lifetime of hotel stays. We checked in around 9:00 p.m. after dinner. We were exhausted from a day of hiking and all we wanted was to shower and go to bed. My wife went first and saw that the bathtub had not been cleaned. It was actually dirty, grimy and had hair. She had to use a soapy washcloth to wipe the bathtub clean. As I said, I have never seen this in my lifetime, arriving at a hotel with a dirty bathtub. It is disgusting and unacceptable.

When we arrived I was concerned what the room would look like. The property needs a lot of work. It’s very rundown with buildings that need to be disposed of. The personnel were great. Very nice. Answered all our questions and offered to change our room if we we were dissatisfied. Our room was great though. The interior was spotless, bedding fresh and the bathroom was clean with plenty of available amenities. So while the outside was a little worrisome, the room itself was great. Thank you for the nice, quiet stay.

When we arrived to our room there was an RV taking up two parking spaces in front of our room so we had to park a ways from our room, they finaly mooved. The toilet was dirty with hair and urine behind the lid. We were woke up around midnight to something banging on the inside of the wall in the bathroom so we turnd on the AC because it was louder thand the nois coming from the bathroom. The person that check us in was very pleasant and welcoming and the restaurant serves and food was wonderful. We will stay here again if we come back this way.

The owners are trying to make it nice, but it’s all lipstick in a pig. Despite the newer furnishings & fancy dispensers in the bathroom, I would not stay here again. The room REEKED of mildew. The A/C was so loud, one couldn’t sleep with it running, and the thermostat often didn’t work. I had to take it off the wall mount, press the batteries in, adjust the temp (or turn off) and place it back on the wall.

The bed had hair and some dirt on it. Looks like the sheets were not changed. Noticed this way late at night when heading to sleep. So couldn’t contact the front desk. The beds being clean is the first and foremost thing for any hotel room!

There was leftover lingerie from a previous guest in one of the drawers and there was hair and holes in the sheets. I had to call to the front desk for them to come clean only about 30 minutes after I checked in. The pillows weren’t that comfy but overall a decent stay.

We were unfortunately in the smaller, 1-story building, and did not enjoy our stay. The doors are thin and have a large gap at the bottom, so you can hear every conversation, door slam, etc. happening outside, which left me trying to fall asleep for an hour and a half. The rooms feel like old motel rooms that were refreshed to look modern, but there’s a dinginess around the edges. I can’t imagine anyone ever choosing to stay here as a destination unto itself - it survives because of its proximity to Yosemite.

Check in was at a neighboring hotel, which was a bit confusing. The room was recently renovated. But the bed was horrific - mattress was rock hard and pillows were completely flat and stiff. Otherwise, it was a fine place to stay outside Yosemite.

I am not typically a complainer, but the television was not connected to the direct tv box and not configured or working, there were noisey employees talking and playing music at the table directly outside our door, pubic hairs in our bed. Also the WiFi would not work. Bath faucet not working correctly. Other than that it was ok.

Disappointed Despite the Friendly Staff We booked this property based on its four-star rating and were initially hopeful. Check-in was smooth, and the front desk staff was friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, the stay took a turn once we got to our room (602), which is right next to the Lucky Buck Café. The walls were paper thin, and all day and night we heard constant squeaking from the room doors and heavy foot traffic. Daytime naps were impossible, and the banging from café cleanup lasted until after 11 p.m. The room itself was clean, but the bed was incredibly uncomfortable—lumpy with completely worn-out pillows. My fiancée and I both woke up with sore backs and necks. It was the worst mattress I’ve ever slept on. The lodge is conveniently located about 20 minutes from Yosemite, which is a plus. However, the noise issues, poor sleep quality, and terrible Wi-Fi (which made even trying to find another hotel impossible) ruined our experience. We travel often and rarely write negative reviews, but this one left us frustrated, angry, and disappointed. I would not stay here again. If you’re visiting the area, I recommend looking into Rush Creek, Evergreen Lodge, or Blackberry Inn instead

Brand new updated room close to popular restaurant. Easy parking and close to park.

Only complaint was tv wasn’t working despite efforts of management to fix it. Everything else was great.

Bed was super comfortable. In general the room seemed new. All in all a great stay.

check in is at another location. room is too noisy because of a huge fan in the attic for the restaurant. I felt like seating in a flight beside the wing.

We booked one of the two private cabins on the property and it was so quiet! I loved that aspect. But - Probably one of the most uncomfortable beds - hard as a rock and every time your partner moves, it wakes you up. Not bad from the outside, cute little porch with chairs, but once you take a closer look this place is not very clean. The ledge of the counter in the bathroom behind the sink had a layer of dust on it (yes I ran a clean towel over it) and the floor boards had the same layer. I assume whoever cleans does not know they need to dust, as well. It was super gross…. The floor of the main suite was okay; clean enough to walk with slippers on… The water machine they have in the main office for refilling water bottles & such had bugs crawling all over it. Total turnoff but none IN the water :) Super friendly staff, bummed the hot tub was closed…. I probably wouldn’t stay here again, but location was great for Yosemite and visiting friends in Groveland.

They charged me extra 25$ for late check-in (after 10pm), but they don't state it here on Hotels.com! And I was charged for it only after I checked out and left and they didn't even let me know they're going to charge me! I only figured this out while going through my credit card charges. They have a very little sign for this at the front desk,but the late check-in is through a window and not at the front desk so you cannot see it... If you consider where to stay and you have to check-in late, just remember to add 25$ to what you already paid. The employee at the front desk yelled at me that I was lucky to even stay there... I'm a paying custumer, I'm not "lucky" to stay anywhere. Shame on you...

I told management two days in a row we were getting no wifi in our room and the maid had not come to clean or change towels but they never fixed the problem. Management was gruff and unresponsive.

The condition of the property was extremely unsafe on our arrival. The access roads to the rooms and the parking lot were not plowed and were full of black ice and icy snow. Our 4*4 with snow tires got stuck. The staff refused to come out and help and provided us with a garden shovel. Staff refused to take any responsibility for the condition, stating this part of the property is maintained by the country. In addition, the staff was incredibly rude and condescending. They also refused to call a tow truck stating they had no authorization to do so. We suffered several injuries trying to get our car out digging with their garden shovel. Overall a very poor experience. The staff displayed zero empathy for a family with small kids and told us that this is not their problem.

This was my first time staying here. It was absolutely wonderful. Very clean room. Comfortable furnishings. Extremely polite staff. I'll definitely be back!

My family planned to visit the Yosemite National Park over the weekend. Buck Meadows Lodge was a close enough drive to the entrance of the park. The front desk was very understanding and welcoming which was very helpful for our questions about the local area.

I booked a room based on an image of the 2 units in the back thinking it would be quiet and have a natural setting. On arrival I was assigned the room next to the cafe. It was noisy from traffic and restaurant activity. The manager was so terse that on checkout I did not mention that the remote did not link to the tv.

Sara at the front desk was amazing. Room was OK, had some issues with the fridge. All n all nice, affordable and close to the venues we desired.

We reserved 3 nights at Bucks Meadow Lodge for our visit to Yosemite, but when arrived found out the road into Yosemite had been closed due to rockslide. I called the front desk and asked (even though non-refundable) if they could make exception and credit us for 2 nights as we decided to leave the following day due to our inability to access the park. We decided to book another hotel at another entrance, since detour would add 2 additional hours a day. To make a long story short, we were treated so poorly by the Manager, Manoj. He was very argumentative, hostile and would not let me speak. Hotels.com attempted multiple times that day to call an employee from Buck Meadows Lodge to rectify the situation, they refused to answer the phone. After spending way too much time on my part, being polite and biting my tongue to this abusive man, we booked a new hotel and I turned in keys the next day and walked away. Hotels.com attempted several more times the next day, they would not answer their phone. I went back and dove deeper into the reviews from the Buck Meadows Lodge. Multiple complaints about their management. I would not recommend giving them your business.

We stayed 4 nights at Buck Meadows Lodge. We enjoyed the close proximity to Yosemite. We also enjoyed several meals at the Lucky Buck Cafe that was near our room. The rooms were clean and the staff were friendly. Would stay here again!

The location proximity to Yosemite National Park is great! After a very long day at the park we were greeted by a super friendly staff member! The room is dated however it’s clean and comfortable. We were very happy that a restaurant is located adjacent to the motel. We would recommend this to anyone who wants a clean comfortable convenient place!

I picked this hotel as it was close to a Yosemite NP entry gate. I was advised that check-in was strictly 4:30pm and not a minute earlier. Feeling tired after a long drive and with no options of things to do at the property at 3pm we had no option but to drive more!! I know time is required for room changeover but would be nice to see some accommodation of weary travellers! Apart from that we had a good stay. We had a room near the cafe and it was quite spacious and well appointed. As it faced the road we were a little bothered by the external lighting coming in through our window. We had an early dinner in the cafe which had good food options and staff were very good. All good and a good location for visiting Yosemite.

A great location and great drive about 50min from Yosemite. Adequate simple room, clean and a great location to be.

Hotel accommodations are modest but clean. Nice having restaurant on site. YARTS stops at this property which is convenient to enter Yosemite. Checkout 11am but hotel keys annoyingly turned off at 10am requiring an office visit.

Close to Yosemite National Park. Lovely play area and swimming pool for kids. A nice restaurant next door.

Great spot. Big room with mini fridge and freezer. Restaurant next door was very vegetarian friendly and yummy, but I think the lodge wifi clashed with restaurant because I couldn't really use it. I would also recommend they tailor their curtains because the AC mostly cooled down their curtain and not the room lol.

Great location, only 20 minutes to Yosemite. Clean rooms with awesome amenities (mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker in room), laundry facilities, pool. Very good restaurant with friendly staff.

It was handy for our trips into Yosemite, the roadhouse attached but independant served good wholesome meals and the staff there were great.

This place was honestly so cute and perfect. We went there to take a little vacation after being diagnosed with cancer, and I'm so glad we did. 10-15 minutes from the entry to Yosemite, 30-40 minutes to Hetch Hetchy, and everything was just gorgeous. The restaurant was good - good food, great service, with a cute lil gift shop. I do wish the store it looks like they used to have was open, but that's okay. Overall, definitely a repeat stay for us.
