White's City Cavern Inn

The room was a great size and very clean. The staff was amazing and so accommodating. The ice machine was broken but the office staff had some for us. The slide was closed which was a bummer as that was one reason we chose this place. It is very close to the cavern which was nice.

If you are going to Carlsbad Caverns National Park, this location is perfect. Close, convenient, and clean. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The pool is available but the slides are only open on the weekend. That wasn't a big deal for us, but just including it in the review for others to know. I would definitely recommend staying in this location. There is a restaurant across the way called the Cactus Cafe.....they have EXCELLENT hamburgers, local craft beers, mainstream beers, and good old soda. There is also a gas station across the way. Everything you need.

First, please know if it’s a weekday your kids (and/or you) are not getting on that waterslide. I feel so bad for the front desk lady who has to break that news to everyone coming in. Next, the location to the caverns is absolutely amazing! You can walk to the entrance road for the national park (it’s about a 12 minute drive from there). The rooms are big. It’s a good deal budget-wise, but would have been awesome with that beautiful photo you see of the water park situation when you book…that you probably can’t use.

TV has no clear channels. Very poor reception. Air conditioner was really loud. Pool was closed

We mainly booked this hotel for the splash area and slides. The splash pad was disgusting, it was COVERED in algae. So much so that it was basically unusable. None of the splash features were on. The slides close at 7 so we didn't get to use them. The big pool was a little more clean but still had several spots of algae. The room was clean and comfortable though and staff was friendly. As long as you don't care about the pool it's fine. My kids were so disappointed.

No ice machine

Do not expect this place to be the Ritz and DO NOT TRY TO CHECK IN EARLY. It's a comfortable place to rest your head. There are no room phones, and the satellite TV can be a little touchy and the rooms out dated. BUT the beds are comfy, the pool is open until 10 when opened and the proximity to the Caverns can't be beat. Also, DO NOT MISS BREAKFAST AT THE CACTUS CAFE. There food is phenomenal and you get a discount for staying at the Inn

Clean room but a little run down and old. Property outside a little dirty. Pool was nice but not heated water so it was real cold. Breakfast was disappointing.

Staff were great. The pool area and grounds were nice. Close to a little touristy strip mall that was fun. The cons were the air conditioner leaked, the TV picture was fuzzy, and the ice machine was broken. They offered to move us, but we had already settled in and liked the end room. So the problems weren’t a huge issue. We would stay again!!

Was told restaurant closed at 3. Arrived at 2, was told it was closed all week. No other place to eat. Went to "grocery" across street, shelves were almost bare. Ended up eating trail mix and candy, what Ihad in my car, for dinner. TV did not work -- only about 9 channels, snowy and terrible reception, unwatchable. Front desk clerk tried to fix it but couldn't, no maintenance person working. Found out the next morning, with wet hair, hair dryer also did not work. Hotel looks old and dated outside, had to walk up stairs and they were uneven, almost tripped twice. Room was large, very roomy, clean. Very quiet, but there were only a handful of guests since Carlsbad Caverns was closed due to the shutdown -- certainly not their fault, but disappointing, as it was my only reason for staying there. Front desk staff was very nice, but unable to do anything to resolve the problems.

There were cigarette butts outside of the room which I cleaned up. It looks as if the property hasn't been swept in some time.

We arrived on a Friday afternoon. The pool was open but had so much bird poop all over the tables and chairs that they were not really usable. The splash pad was closed. We had a rather large cockroach in the bathroom and a cricket or two the were in the room. The staff was nice and the beds were comfortable. The property shows its age.

This is a great place to stay. Child friendly as they have a little water park/pool area for kids. The room was clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable; there were plenty of towels for two people and ecofriendly paper products. This motel was right at the entrance of the Carlsbad Caverns which was perfect for us as that was an activity we planned on. The staff was fabulous and very helpful with directions etc. The only thing that could have been better was the outside sidewalks could be cleaned of debris and dead bugs. The upside to that is that the bugs were dead!

The check-in process was very smooth and we appreciated that the hotel sent us reminder texts and let us know that the Caverns were closed (due to the government shutdown) and that we could cancel our reservation if we needed. The room was very clean and spacious and we enjoyed the breakfast that was provided. We would absolutely stay here again!

Has a pool. The room was a little dirty under beds, behind the beds, hair still in the bathtub from previous ppl I’m assuming. Cockroaches- alive and dead in the rooms! Make sure you don’t get the room by the stairwell. Or ice. You hear everything. The phones don’t work to get new towels so you go to the lobby. Which was fine. The gentleman was very nice. When checking out today, I told the woman that was eating her breakfast outside of the lobby that there were cockroaches in the room. She said, water cockroaches” and kept eating. Other than all of that, it was close to the Carlsbad cavern national park, which was great. Just make sure you eat prior to coming to the town if you come after 3pm!

The location is convenient. This property is old, so it looks like not much clean. There are many flies in the room

Old but super clean. A/c took a bit to cool but then it was good. Beds are super comfy and the bathroom was really clean.

Pleasantly surprised at how big and spacious the room was. However, most of the outlets in the room did not work and there was no way to reset the GFCI. Also, the TV was fuzzy. The staff were kind though. If you’re looking for a basic place to stay after visiting Carlsbad Caverns, this place will suffice.

Room was updated and clean, spacious and quiet. Need update to create convenince for use and charging of devices.

Room was very basic but clean. Lobby and outside areas of hotel need some work. When we arrived we were regretting our booking but once inside it was ok for one night. Beds were comfortable. Towels were very thin and the ice maker didn’t work. Breakfast was muffins, cereal and juice and coffee.

I had reservations about staying at an Inn, but was pleasantly surprised. It is the closest place to Carlsbad Caverns. The beds were comfortable and the room was spacious and clean.

The Receptionist was awesome, very kind, helpful and welcoming!! The room was really nice and roomy, although the TV was not mounted on the wall, just sitting on the Dresser, which made it hard to watch from the Bed. My only complaint would be that the internet was really slow and almost unusable. Trying to watch a football game in chunk segments was rather annoying.

The beds were super comfortable and the air conditioning was great. The layout of the room was nice but the shower did not have good water pressure. The outlets in the bathroom did not work so we had to connect the coffee maker to the microwave outlet. The "breakfast" consisted of dry cereal and overly sugared, tiny muffins and the coffee was terrible. The first woman at the office front desk was a bit gruff, but the second was very amiable.

The check in was terrible. Arrived early and went to office to ask if early check in was possible. It was closed but had a number I could call. Was told check-in was at 2 but if I came back at 130 she could check us in. Waited till 210 to go back. Woman behind the desk did not acknowledge us till she finished what sounded like a personal call. At no time did she make eye contact. I told her I wanted to check in and her response was ‘check in is at 3. Told her what I had been told earlier. She said it wasn’t her I talked to and repeated check in time. Now during this exchange she never stood up to the counter never made eye contact and was visibly angry slamming papers around and pounding on keyboard. We turned to walk out when she said wait she would go ahead and let us in the room. Shoved the keys across counter. Gave us no information and turned away. This woman was angry insolent and just rude. We find the room which was fine except missing a pillow on a bed. Empty pillowcase is there but no pillow. Called the office and she proceeded to say the beds always had 4 pillows each. We said ‘then we are missing 3 pillows. She said she would get them. A few minutes later she shows up with a damp pillow at the door and said she was wrong. It is 3 pillows to a bed. Now remember the pillow she shoved at me was damp and couldn’t be used. Room was actually clean and comfortable but this woman made the whole experience awful. Would NOT recommend due to this.

Staff was very helpful . Changed our room when we realized it was upstairs and there is no elevator.

Very friendly hotel service was great and hospitality was awsome as well felt very welcome as soon as we checked in and the front desk employees were extremely helpful will 100% recommend

Excellent location and staff was super friendly. They even proactively called to offer me a refund if I chose to change my plans due to the government shutdown. I really appreciated this offer and am glad I stayed there!

Our check-in process wasn't as great as it could be. The older woman who checked us in was rude and seemed irritated that we were bothering her. Maybe she was just having a bad day but we weren't having the best day, either and had been looking forward to staying that your, cute quirky hotel. The front desk lady spoiled the magic for us. The saving grace is the rest of the staff was phenomenal and we will definitely stay the next time we are in the Carlsbad area.

Desk staff were very helpful

Stacy was welcoming and wonderful! We experienced some trouble with our rent car and she was happy to help us out. The staff at the gift shop, Sophia and Belle, also helped us out. The entire community is so wonderful and made our trip happy and memorable.

A box of fruit loops and coffee... seriously? I feel that that's more of a corteous snack for those who stay. It shouldnt be labeled as breakfast included. Very misleading when other hotels actually invest in issuing breakfast for their guest.

Closest possible room to the caverns. Also good for Guadalupe natl park. Very pleased. I would stay there again if i was doing either of those parks.

Spacious room, comfortable beds, very convenient to Carlsbad Caverns, friendly staff, great price. Only downside is you need to drive to Carlsbad for dinner, as there is only 1 restaurant in Whites City which is open for breakfast and lunch.

The only perk with this hotel is its closeness to Carlsbad caverns. You have no dining options after 3pm. Breakfast is only a muffin or a box of cereal. Next closest town to get any food is 20 miles away.

If you're looking for location to Carlsbad Caverns, this is it! Not the best first impression, it definitely could use some cleaning outside but the room was ok. Not 5☆ but great price! Most definitely fine for a night because of its proximity to the park entrance! If the restaurant next door isn't open, prepare to drive into Carlsbad for anything to eat (about 25 min.) You'll have plenty to choose from there!

Government shutdown happened so no Caverns but we did go down to the Guadalupe Mountains to hike. This location is absolutely perfect for a trip to the caverns though. There’s a water park in season so families with children could have a blast. Hotel was clean and had no smell, which is a game changer for me. Typical rooms but have a good refrigerator, a microwave and small coffee pot. BIGGEST drawback…the only restaurant close closes at 3:00 so you have to plan accordingly or drive back in to Carlsbad. There is a small grocery store that has snacks across the street that stays open until 6:00. Will definitely come back to see the Caverns and hike more in the Guadalupe Mountains.

Staff very friendly, hotel older but kept updated and very clean. Nice and quiet, pool area nice, shaded and clean. Would recommend close to Carlsbad Caverns. Restaurant in area not opened on Sunday or Monday so we had to drive 20 miles to nearest restaurant.

The hotel was very close to the cave but because we went early in the year they didn’t have the pool open and the restaurant closed by 3 pm which meant we drove into the city of Carlsbad anyway. Eating area was small and breakfast had a small selection as well.

The lady at the front desk was especially friendly and helpful.The hotel is older, but clean and well maintained, and a great price. We did not use the pool and water park because they were closed for the season, but I'm sure the young ones would enjoy the slide and splash pad. The pool was small, but looked sparkling clean. The breakfast provided was not great, but provided the basics - cereal, muffins, coffee, juice, and some fresh fruit. The Carlsbad Caverns were unfortunately closed due to the government shut down. There is not much else to do in White City - not even any restaurants open for dinner. We had to drive to Carlsbad for that. We did find the lovely Sitting Bull Falls about an hour drive away.
