Small room and windows were poorly insulated but overall, it was ok for a one night stay. Near Rogers Centre, CN Tower and Hockey hall of fame were walkable from the Hotel. Public parking was not very far from the hotel.

The room was terrible. The air conditioning unit was right next to your face when in bed and it was noisy. We only stayed one night, but if we had to stay another night I would have checked out. We were told there was no lift and had to carry our bags up and down two floors it needs to be highlighted there are no lifts. We were in our mid 60’s.

Chambre propre, déjeuner inclus très sommaire (toasts et jus d'orange), possibilité d'avoir plus d'options de déjeuners mais payant, il n'y a pas d'ascenceur pour monter aux étages, plusieurs marches à monter. Le jazz bar à côté de l'hôtel est génial. Spectacle à 5 pm et 8 pm, prix = vous donnez ce que vous voulez. L'hôtel est très bien situé près du Princess of Whales theater et près du Centre ville.

Great for location. The hotel has quite a walk up with 4 flights of stairs I didn't like it but I only stayed for 2 days so it wasn't too bad. Room not bad for a 2 star place. I was on the top floor so I didn't hear music at night. The staff were friendly and I had help with my luggage upon arrival. The towels were not great, one ply toilet paper very thin and the bedding was hospital like but I did like the comfort of the bed and pillows. Overall a pretty good experience, I'd consider staying here again.

I enjoyed my stay here overall . I had a private room with its own bathroom the main room was small but efficient . The bathroom has been recently renovated and is modern however, the toilet kept flushing all night as the flange needed to be replaced. The walls in the room could use a good paint job . The staff were friendly and accommodating in the hotel and in the restaurant. I would suggest if you have a lot of luggage to book on the first or second floor as there is no elevator if you have a lot of luggage. For the price point overall I found The Rex a great place to stay for location and convenience .I would definitely stay here again.

Hårstrån på handfat och i duschen. Slitet och behov av renovering. Hög musik från puben, men bra musik. Man behöver betala $15 för att komma in i restaurangen på kvällen pga underhållningen. Positivt: frukost ingår, dock först kl 9.30. Bra läge. Bra pris.

The room was clean and not shabby.Front desk staff were friendly and helpful and teh night security staff was availabe when I mis laid my key after front desk went home Walls are unfortunately thin and hallway noise is audible. Bathrooms were small but also very clean.

It’s definitely a bare-bones kind of hotel, but for the price and location it was exactly what I needed. I was fairly pleasantly surprised! The room is a bit old and had a slight smell (left the window open for a bit and it mostly went away) but it was very clean otherwise, comfortable, and I felt safe the entire time. The shared bathrooms were surprisingly nice, super clean (no matter what time you went so they clearly clean it often) and recently renovated. I didn’t spend much time in the room anyway, so it worked perfectly for my stay. The WiFi was a bit slow but did the job. Plus, the staff were super friendly and kind. Overall, no bells and whistles, but I would definitely stay again!!

I have found this hotel quite disgusting. An old property does not mean it will also be poorly maintained. There is no fresh air at all in the hotel. It is in a very poor condition overall. All walls need to be painted and all hallways need new carpets. The front desk people do not show any interest in the comfort of their guests in addition showing no smiling faces.I would NOT recommend staying there!!

We stayed in a (compact) basic room with private bathroom. It was good value for the great location. We walked to most things, though the hotel is also very handy for the streetcar which stops right outside and also a few mins to the subway. We could hear the jazz as we were above the club, which was fine for us but may bother early or light sleepers.

The room was an interesting split between the gleaming new stainless-steel and dark matte-tile bathroom, and the seedy, saggy, marked and worn room the bed lay in. Hard-matressed with a harsh polyester cover. surrounded by sparse second-hand bits of furniture, "lovely" was not a word that came mind. However! For one night. it did the job. It was fine. It was reasonably priced compared to most Toronto hotels. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is very well located. Unfortunately it is definitely in need of a renovation. The bathroom especially was very cramped and not in very good condition.

The property is dated but this adds to its charm. Floors in the rooms are hard flooring and not carpet which is lovely. Rooms are simple and are as shown. Location is excellent. FYI: Property is not accessible (stairs) and rooms are small. Temperature control is challenging (AC didn’t work and windows don’t open). Staff are lovely and very accommodating. If you are looking for basic accommodation in a great part of town with ease of access to subway with many places walkable distance then consider this property.

I stayed on the first floor. Below the hotel is the Rex Jazz bar and restaurant. At night, when a jazz band played, it was loud enough through the floor, that you could not sleep. I don’t mind going to bed late but this would certainly be an issue for someone who had to leave early the next day. The room was small but quaint. I had a private bathroom and I thought that while small and tight, it was sufficient for me traveling alone. Overall, I enjoyed my stay.

Ok, this place is definitely old & a little beat & could use an upgrade. There r no phones in the rooms. My room faced Queen st & it was really loud . I was also right above the band & it was loud. On the other hand it was cheap & I felt safe & the staff were all nice. Plus the location is central.

My key didn’t work coming back in the middle of the night so I had to buzz and the old guy working the night shift was really rude other staff were all friendly , no A/C in room beds were comfortable shared washroom wasn’t ideal didn’t feel the cleanliness. Good for a super short stay 1 night max room was super small.

Oliver at the front desk was a joy to deal with...very helpful and informative. We enjoyed a beautiful lunch while listening to a lovely set of jazz. I would come back and stay here again in a heartbeat. All the staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean and comfortable.

Perfect neighbourhood downtown. Close to everything. Staff is genuinely fantastic. The jazz club has solid food and phenomenal service. Nice little patio outside. Will stay again any time I pass through Toronto.

The stay was good. Room clean and good for one night stay, Walking distance to many attractions & restaurant. Wasn't expected a nice, basics complemental breakfast. Staff was very helpful and friendly. I subtracted 1 star due to no elevator :( We had to lug our heavy suitcases up the stairs :(

Cool, old hotel in a very convenient location. We could walk to a ton of restaurants, Rogers Place, CN Tower, Aquarium, etc. Staff were friendly and helpful at the hotel and the Rex Jazz bar. The rooms were small and cozy. My only recommendation is bring ear plugs as you can hear the jazz band in the bar if you go to bed before 11. Overall a great stay.

This is not your normal modern chain hotel but this is not a bad thing. It has character especially with the Jazz and Blues Bar. Although not in the middle of Downtown it is still in a good location with a 15 minute walk to the CN Tower/Rogers Centre or the subway is very close @ Osgoode. There are a number of good pubs and restaurants close by if you want to venture out.

TV very small, Internet OK, and breakfast was very good and reasonable. But it’s not the Ritz, not a brand new fancy hotel. For the price these days, it’s just fine.

This hotel is in a great location and the staff were lovely. The jazz club is loud but ends at a reasonable time, and the performances were good so it wasn’t a problem. I had a private bathroom, but I walked by the shared washroom facilities and they looked fine

Este hotel é muito bem localizado, possibilitando fazer as principais atrações de Toronto à pé. O quarto era limpo, confortável e a equipe era muito simpática e solícita. O café da manhã acontece no bar acoplado ao hotel, e servem torrada com manteiga e amendoim e geleia, e café ou chá. O bar é muito legal, temático de jazz e recomendo! O chuveiro era muito bom. Vale ressaltar que a internet, apesar de gratuita e pegar no quarto, era muito lenta. Se você pretende trabalhar durante a sua estadia, não recomendo que o faça no hotel por conta da conexão ruim da internet. Recomendo!
