What a wonderful stay and attention to service and detail. From arrival to departure, we felt completely attended to for any need we had or could have. A wonderful breakfast is included each morning, recommendations to local restaurants, the beach is one block from the stay, multiple sitting areas with fire pits located around the property. We had the absolute best stay at Villa Mara!! Dev and his staff were extremely hospitable and made everything easy and enjoyable. You really feel like you’re staying at a friend’s luxury home. The property is gorgeous, rooms very comfortable and updated, cocktails and breakfast each morning all delicious, and location was perfect. I can’t say enough wonderful things about this hotel. 10/10 recommend if you’re heading to Carmel!!!

Access to beach is 5min walk. The hotel itself is gorgeous..immaculate inside and outside, the gardens and fire pit are inviting, room was perfect for our short getaway with well-appointed furnishings, exquisite decor, very comfortable bed, heated tile floors, complimentary snacks, delectable breakfast & great views from the private balcony. INCREDIBLE. We celebrated our anniversary + babymoon here and couldn’t have had a better experience. The staff is beyond friendly, attentive and helpful. Shout outs to Roque, Johnathan, Robert and Joseph. We took advantage of the common areas, enjoying morning coffee, breakfast, reading, and cocktails by the fireplace. We even ended up having our photographer come for our maternity snaps when rain came. Very comfortable bed, and I am particular in general but esp at 30 wks pregnant. Will return! So close to beach (1 easy block) and in the midst of beautiful residential homes.

The location is stunning, nearly across the street from the shoreline. My room, one of the cheaper options, was clean, classy and relaxing. The layout of the common parts of Villa Mara are interesting, making it so that you can socialize with other guests freely or keep to yourself. These are a couple of outdoor fire-pits, and a large gathering room with a bar, tables and a cozy fireplace. Best of all, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel at home. I was taken aback by how genuinely kind they are. Plus, they offered me drinks and chocolates as I sat up reading by the fire at night. What's not to love? I truly could not have asked for more. This place is something special.

Carmel is a wonderful town and one of the best parts is walking through the neighborhood to look at the architecture/homes. This property is located in a spectacular part of Carmel on the point where there are only private homes. Staying at Villa Mara is more like staying with great friends - it feels like a home [looks like a one too]. Besides the beautiful views the property is newly built and decorated perfectly. The staff is unbelievably wonderful and very accommodating. Breakfast was delightful and I just cannot say enough about how wonderful our stay was over the holidays. We will absolutley be back!

Overall the location is great and the hotel is charming and well designed. The room wasn’t ready at check in, so we were disappointed to then find it run down and dirty (walls, rug, furniture). We paid a lot extra for an ocean view, but our view was only of power lines and construction (which we could also hear). Noise was an issue, walls are very thin and housekeeping woke us up in the room next door early in the morning vacuuming and banging around and we could clearly hear the guests in the surrounding rooms and at the bar. Most of the staff members were good, but one kind of soured our experience. The food was not great at breakfast either day. Overall not worth the price point

Nice to be greeted with a free beverage of choice. Room was large and nice interior design with elegant fixtures, down to unique light switches. Breakfast was awesome with excellent selections. Bed was too soft and caused back discomfort making not restful sleep.

If there were ten stars I would happily give them to Villa Mara! It’s a charming, small, beautifully run property. One block from the quiet end of Carmel’s iconic beach, it was the perfect location to spend our 24th anniversary. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and kind. Despite having been to Carmel many, many times, our stay here felt like coming home. We’ll definitely be back.

Lovely small boutique hotel. Staff was really friendly, and service felt very customized. Beds are super comfortable. Fabulous decor and finishes in the hotel. Included breakfast was delicious. Hear and see the Carmel Beach ocean waves from your room. Morning walk along the scenic coast/Sunset is spectacular!! If anyone can figure out the custom paint color on their doors, I want it! Fresh cookies instead of chocolates in the room at turn down were a fun touch!
