The elevator in this hotel is absolutely horrible in the time it takes to wait on it . Staff and guest should use separate elevators, or install another one

The front desk staff were so kind, helpful, and accommodating. Water filter machine downstairs was great, microwaves for use. Super easy walk to the subway station. Food options abound in the neighborhood.

Upon arrival, there was no one at counter - but a sign stating I'll be back in 15 mins. I had t wait in the lobby with luggage until some arrived. They advertised "FREE BREAKFAST" but was no longer available, even though it's still posted online!!! Items in room broken. some trash & someones lost fake fingernail next to the bed. I had to go back downstairs for clean wash clothes. One of towels were soiled & couldn't use. Nasty. 1 out of 10

A reasonable place that offers none of the amenities they claim to. When I first arrived, I was flippantly told that they "weren't offering breakfast currently" and to go elsewhere for that. (it's supposed to be free) Internet was running at 2mbps which is barely enough to open a website, so another non existent amenity. Front staff was oblivious and uninterested in help. Hallways are dirty. Peeling paint on the ceiling. Room was comfortable, though. If they shaved some price off the room, maybe it would be worth it.

Simple, no frills but clean enough, had filtered water and ice for the guests, a plus. The issue was terrible WiFi when free WiFi was part of their advertising.

Did not have breakfast

The bed sheet weren’t that great I seen a lot of weird stuff such as dust, hair, same with the bathroom everything need to be up to date over all thankful it ain’t have bed bug and grateful had somewhere to stay but not worry it for its price, the elevator sound scary at that 😭 no microwave or fridge in room

Price was decent, room are outdated and TV options not the best. Also, it supposed to be breakfast included, but nothing was offered.

Pros first: Had no issues with check-in, other than getting a “lower level” aka basement room that has a window that’s mostly occupied by the A/C unit and “looks” into a courtyard. The A/C did work well though! The location is very close to lots of mass transit (JMZ trains, B57 bus stop right outside). I found the room to be very clean despite some worry there may be insects being on the lowest floor. The bed was comfortable. The cons: It seems like this was almost like an extra room that was being used for spare parts…there was a mount for a TV, but no TV? My room also had no fridge, one of the light fixtures was missing a bulb, and none of the shower soaps/shampoos were filled/working (hand soap was available at the sink). I was just here for just one night and didn’t really NEED any of these things, but it hardly feels welcoming to be in a basement room staring at a TV mount and Direct TV box. There was an ice machine in the breakfast room, but rooms didn’t have buckets of ice. There were flimsy plastic bags next to the machine, and also small plastic cups (there were no cups in the room). They are still not serving breakfast at this time. Overall it just felt like this is a place that was great in 2019 but hasn’t recovered from the pandemic, and didn’t live up to some of the positive reviews here and other sites.

Our hotel room only had one (thin) pillow per person and when we asked for extras we were informed that the hotel does not provide extra pillows. There was also no shower door so water would pool on the floor in the bathroom. The single elevator ran very slowly and did in one instance take almost 10 minutes to reach the lobby. The room itself was very clean but it was an uncomfortable stay :(

The staff are so rude here … everything looks so old and used my room had dead roaches right next to the toilet it was very unpleasant. Also asked for new towels and they was so rude about it .. no toothbrush not toothpaste no lotion or soap this hotel is really a scam

Shower dirty with mold

Sheets had hair and particles as if they were not clean sheets. The property looks uncared for. Carpets are stained. Upon entering the building it becomes apparent the place is beat down and unkept.

Wifi was hard to connect to at first with a full hotel, but the room was extremely clean and beds were comfortable! Front desk staff was very helpful with asking for a hairdryer and holding our bags after we checked out to explore NYC before we flew out.

Staff was great. However, the room was very dirty. There were stains and hair on the towels. The floor was clearly not vacuumed. Additionally, the fridge was broken. Will not stay again :(

The pillows were comfy and the location was central to lots of places to eat and see. There were hairs in the shower. Floor was dirty. No garbage sack in the garbage can. No garbage can in the bathroom. Worn down and just kinda gross. Also, could hear everything out into the hallway.

Very clean. Staff was friendly. Beds were comfy. Plenty of towels. It was a basic room close to subway and reasonably priced.

Rep behind the desk was very helpful. When I got to my room. the floor was sticky, there were no trashcans nor any hand wash in the dispenser. The shower only has 1/2 a door so the steam/warmth cannot be insulated when you are taking a shower. The final straw was when I saw a roach crawl across the table. I packed up my bag and requested a new room which the desk rep. gave me and apologized. It was an upgrade which was great because it had a refrigerator and I folded up my coat and put in there in case there were anymore pests scurrying around and I kept my bag zipped up with my clothes inside.

Pretty basic accomodations with some updates needed. Hallway had a terrible smell for most of my stay and the cleaning was done quite late in the evening (7 pm to 9 pm) which was not ideal.

Clean and conveniently located. Helpful staff. Easily walkable from plenty of coffee shops, restaurants and local stores. Very nearby subway access. Great stay!

No internet, no chairs, no tables, no hangers, just a bed. A sink. And a toilet literally

These rooms were lacking to say the least. No fridge, microwave, or coffee maker. Just a bed,TV, and a desk. No decor of any kind on the walls, and all the lights in the room were different wattage and colors. The showers are doorless and there were no bathmats to soak up the water that sprayed out. We also noticed there were no trash bins in any part of the room, including the bathroom. The space was not great, but the staff was extremely polite and helpful. Will not be returning.

The room was very basic, which was fine. However, the bathroom floor in apartment 407 is off and constantly squeaks, and the shower set up just doesn't make sense. The floor gets soaking wet every time someone takes a shower because the wall is just a bit short to prohibit water from spraying beyond it. It also would be nice if the toilet had a toilet seat cover. Quite a few of our possessions were very close to falling into the toilet because there is no cover. The window didn't have a screen in it, and some of the lights didn't work, making the room kinda dark after sunset. That being said, we had a great time and were happy to find somewhere so affordable right in the middle of everything.

Clean room, friendly staff, alright WiFi. Not bad ac. Only downside was the shower lol, since it doesn’t have a curtain or sliding door on the other side all the water comes out so we had to soak all the water up with towels, also the construction we had near by but not anything over powering just a lil noise by that and a few of the people roaming around at night with loud music which would stop later at night but if your tired you’ll probably be knocked out and barely notice. Overall it was good for me and brother & cousin for three nights. If you’re looking for more budget friendly I do recommend! There is a $100 check in fee but I got mines back after checking out on the 2nd day. The subway is pretty close tho so I did enjoy that! 8.5/10 :)

I was very disappointed by this stay. The tv kept losing signal and switching to loud static and no technician to fix it, the noise in the hallway sounded like it was in the room and construction on the street was so loud with an air horn going off every 5 min. As soon as I called to extend to a late check out which was $75 they started vacuuming right outside of the room. :( not getting any sleep ruined my short trip.

The hotel was clean and beds were comfortable but no amenities such as a hair dryer, cups in the room or ice machine. Pretty basic. Also it was a little loud at night when people came back to their rooms. Also no shower door so water heat all over the bathroom floor. Ask for extra towels.

Only thing I dislike about the hotel was the fact that the rooms weren’t soundproof

The BKLYN House was a good hotel. I would return. rooms are small, but it has essentially what you need. I cant complain. and the price was decent.

We were initially sent to the wrong room and had to go back to the lobby (elevator super slow) to find our actual room. The room is clean but that’s all it has going for it. Basically an undecorated dorm room. Bare bones and uncomfortable. Definitely not worth $350 for a Saturday night.

The property is in a good location. It's a bit loud (you can hear everything from the streets even with the windows closed). The big problem is with the front desk staff. We booked 2 weeks in advance and when we arrived within the check-in time window they claimed they couldn't find our reservation and had no rooms due to overbooking. Then they found our reservation, but claimed it was the next day despite clear evidence to the contrary from our expedia booking. They tried to tell us they had no rooms multiple times, then hedged a bit, then asked to see my ID, then said they might have a room, and then finally gave us a room. The story from the people at the front desk kept changing, and the whole thing felt very shady/sketchy. That night someone trued to enter our room, and persisted for a couple of minutes before giving up. The next day we had to stick around the hotel because they wanted to move us to a different room, but couldn't guarantee us a room if we left and came back later in the day. By 2 pm we finally got our room for the week. The rest of the week was fine, but I would never book here again because reservations are meaningless to the hotel.

Staff was not Supportive. Staff started to check me in and then another member of the staff started talking to him, he decided they were more important, fine, but after a while I no longer wanted to wait since i was in the middle of being helped. Would not rec staying here or using Hotels.com. No one actually cares

I just needed a place for 1 night and wasn't looking for anything extravagant, just a place to sleep after an event. The hotel itself is adequate but staff really need to get their act together. We arrived 90 minutes after our check in time and the room still wasn't ready. Several other guests were having the same issues, so we waited outside for another 20 minutes until they offered us the option to switch to a single bed (we booked 2 doubles). We took that because we had no idea how long it would be otherwise and just wanted to put our stuff down. Also only $85 of our $100 deposit was returned, I called and staff blamed it on some facility fee through Expedia. But I was told I would get the full $100 back at check-in. I don't have the energy or time to argue with staff over that one, so just going to note it here so others can be aware. This is really a bare minimum hotel, it's got a bed, a bathroom and a tv. It's marginally clean and in an ok neighborhood. It's entirely unmemorable (fine for our purposes) and I normally wouldn't post a review at all, but the annoyances of checking in and the unhelpful staff bumps it down significantly. In summary: you can probably find a different soulless hotel with a tiny room to lay your head for a comparable price, and maybe there your room will be ready around your check-in time.

Their pricing structure is very predatory. I booked for a 5 night stay with a specific advertised price per night. Upon paying I was charged an additional $200 in fees, “mandatory local fees”, and taxes. Annoying but whatever. Then upon arrival, they tell me there is a $100 deposit for incidentals that I would receive back. A week later, I’ve received $25 back with the information that there is a $15/day facility fee that they subtracted from my deposit to pay for “lights, vending machines and WiFi”. Despite zero communication from the desk attendant about this facility fee and is that not what my price per night is paying for? Those amenities are bare minimum. The location is great, but the property overall felt frantic & good luck using the elevator. I usually wouldn’t leave a review like this but the $300 in random extra fees just feels scammy. I could’ve stayed in a nicer place for the amount I ended up spending.

DON’T STAY HERE. We arrived less than two hours after check-in began to find out that they did not have a room available for us - even though I booked and paid over a month in advance of arrival. The staff were smirking and giggling as we begged them to help us find a solution. After much back and forth with their rude staff, begging them to help me get settled into a room I had already paid for, they shared that they could transfer the reservation to their sister property if I provided a $100 deposit right then and there. Desperate for a quick solution, I reluctantly paid and we began our 1.2 mile walk over to the hotel, which Google said was the fastest due to rideshare and subway waits. He hauled all our luggage there, dripping in sweat, to find they had not received our transferred reservation and also had no room available. After a frustrating half hour, we were finally told they actually did have room for us after all. My group missed the event we flew to New York for because we had to deal with this inconvenience which took up HOURS of our time. Their negligence, lack of reliability, and lack of care were devastating. The property has so far refused to provide any compensation to make up for this horrible experience.

Location is a poor neighborhood

Easy location for the subway. Local restaurants for good breakfast . Good location to get everywhere. Bike bus train all very close. The staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean perfect for oir party of 2.

For an affordable place to stay it is located near a metro line and situated far enough away from the street and metro noise.

We stayed, honestly, because the prices were the best we could find and we really enjoyed our stay. Front desk was always so friendly. The room was large for New York standards and the beds were comfortable. It's a barebones motel 6 type of stay but it felt safe and we had no problems. It's on the outer area of Bushwick so we took the train or ubered everywhere but the walk to and from the train was fine! We would stay again for sure.

Really close to multiple Subway lines so getting about was nice and easy. There were plenty of food places in the area so the location was pretty damn good. Room was comfortable and had all required

I’m familiar with the area. It might not be for newcomers to NYC. The hotel was what I wanted, where I wanted for the price I’d wanted. I’d stay again.

Lovely hotel , very clean, hipster centeral , free simple breakfast , very clean, they were short staff but they were very helpful.
