The grounds are spectacular, and the location is very nice. Customer service was on point. The “not so great” things: 1. WiFi is absolutely atrocious. I did a speed test and was getting around 0.4 gig download speeds. Yes, you read that correctly. They have a “premium” WiFi option that you can purchase (I believe it’s $25 a day?) 2. At night, motorcycles drag race on the street. Very loud. 3. The rooms need some updates (my king size bed was comfortable, though). 4. A lot of unhoused people stay on the adjoining grounds. Mostly harmless, but some will harass you.

Got a suite on the bottom floor Bayside. Room was clean big and comfortable and was nice having a patio that was steps right out to the bay. Was a staycation for me and the wife the Jacuzzi was amazing and the heated saltwater pool was AWESOME. We booked a King Bed Junior suite but found out those are only on the upper floors and since we had our bikes with us asked for a floor level junior suit which are the two queen bed suites which wasn't an issue at all for us and they were very accommodating. Very clean and nice property and the service from everyone at the check in desk was friendly and professional. Didn't get a chance to eat at the restaurant on site Firefly but seemed busy whenever we went to the pool. And they have a nice selection of drinks and snacks in the lobby. Highly recommend the Dana will def be back

Property is on a great location. Dana offers great activities. including night swimming until 10 pm. Firefly restaurant sucks but the poolbar on the second pool i highly recommend 👌. We stayed for 2 nights 3 days. very friendly and accommodating staffs. Parking for guests is worth it because Parking is hard to come by since it next to Belmont part, mission beach and sea world. Especially in the weekend's your not the only people from out of town that visit San Diego. We really didn't stay on the dana hotel as much since we had only 3 days to see what san diego had to offer. But we did enjoy the night activities like movie dive after sea world. Wouldnt recommend to eat at firefly restaurant, its overpriced and biased.

There is no elevator to get up to second levels. Also, it was very difficult to find a place to temporarily put the car during check in because you have to have a room key to go into the gated lots. I had to leave someone in the rental car during check in. Were there a couple of spaces for 5-10 minute parking, it would have been far more convenient.

Nice place to stay, and really convenient if you are someone who likes water sports. Prices for rentals were reasonable, too. The restaurant food was delicious. I thought the $150 dog surcharge was pretty hefty, but they gave was a discount on parking, which we appreciated. By far the biggest issue I had was using the laundry room. What a pain! The machines do not have a credit card reader to pay, so you have to download the ShinePay app (and their wifi is a bit slow), sign up with ShinePay, add credit card info, and then use bluetooth to connect to the appropriate appliance. The app was buggy (unusable) on my Android (but worked fine on my daughter's iPhone), and when we were finally able to use it to add credit card info, two out of the four machines could not pair with my phone. Also the cost displayed on the machines did not match the amount (which was higher) that appeared once you connected to the machine. So even if I thought I was putting the exact amount of funds, it was incorrect, and I had to add more (it's a $.35 charge to use a credit card every time you add money). Bottom line: Nice place to stay, friendly staff, but pricey dog surcharge and I recommend you don't plan to do laundry there! :)

Was good, just a few minor complaints. The coffee maker in the room is from 2001 probably and not very easy to use. Would be nice if there was an outdoor shower in the pool and hot tub area so people could rinse off before getting in or out. there are a few little fees that you don’t find out about until you get there but there not that expensive. The restaurant called firefly is really nice and has a decent and affordably priced menu. Not having to leave the property is a huge plus because as you know, parking in that part of town is ridiculous.

I am actually so impressed. Photos do not do justice. This place blew my expectations, I looked for a place to stay for weeks and I ended up picking this resort and it is absolutely beautiful , pools are SO nice.. one is open until 10 and one is open until 11, parking is 35$ but I don’t mind because it is under security surveillance. Room is super clean and so nice, pillows are comfy , bed is a bit firm but I don’t mind that. Shampoo/body wash is out in the bathroom is my one and only complaint but I brought some of my own so it didn’t bother me. I will definitely be back love it here!!!! I’m literally laying in bed at the hotel writing this review bcuz of how impressed I am. Can’t wait to explore more of the property tomorrow

From the check in to the check out this was a great experience! Staff is incredibly helpful and very kind. Room was clean. Beds very comfortable. Pillows were perfect. I enjoyed my time at the Dana, I have stayed here in the past as well. The restaurant onsite had good food and good service. It’s a great location for walking. The staff was friendly and accommodating however I did have tiny ants in my room. Staff were prompt to fix the issue and throughly cleaned the room however there were a few ants still left. I also had to ask for my room to be cleaned multiple times as they didn’t automatically come to clean each day. I went 2 days without any service which was frustrating. They have laundry services to do your own laundry with reasonable prices.

So overall, the property is nice. It’s on the marina. It’s reasonably clean and well cared for. The restaurant there while the service and the staff are quite lovely, The food is horrible. I had a terrible meal there after already knowing that it was bad food because I have eaten there before, but the chicken wasn’t cooked. I woke up in the middle of the night with a cockroach crawling on my arm. No idea if they have bedbugs. I looked thoroughly, but I didn’t remove the plug plate covers. I’m not sure if I’ll stay there again. I’m about to send them an email and see what they do about my experience.

The resort and amenities are nice. The room in particular that we got was dirty, and a noisy location and are outside Laney up against a public park space that was very noisy and filled with barbecue smoke. We were unable to enjoy the outdoor space, which was one of the main reasons we booked this hotel. We also never received housekeeping on one of the days that we need a new towels and toiletries replenished. The staff was very friendly and accommodating when we contacted them about issues. I think a nicer room and location would have resulted in a higher rating of this hotel. The two stars is definitely heavily waited on our room lack of cleanliness and noisy location in particular.

We loved staying at the Dana! We have decided that the next time we’re in San Diego, we will stay again! It is a beautiful property. The restaurant is so good and so are the pools. Every day we had an excellent experience with the staff and the cleanliness of the rooms. We loved that they turned over the room every morning and we had a freshly made bed to sleep in every night. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

The location of the peppery was very good. The ground were beautiful. Staff were very pleasant. The room was equipped the only enough towels for two people, which was of for a room for four. House keeping came in daily but initially the room was not terribly clean. We left out fresh fruit one night and found a cockroach scurrying around the fruit on the counter. Told the front desk that seemed unconcerned.

Guests should definitely understand the walls are thin. You will hear people outside and above you. The aesthetic of the rooms have a motel-ish vibe but when you think about the hotel being by the water - it’s giving sailor vibes. It was a very convenient location in great distance of all the areas we wanted to be like La Jolla and Downtown. The views of the Marina are gorgeous and were worth the stay. Nice for walks and picnics. I likely would not stay here again given I prefer a more luxurious stay.

The standard room I booked turned out to be on the first floor of an older building. During the night I was woken up so many times by the noise coming from the second floor that I called the front desk at 3:30am to let them know I needed to move to a quieter room the next day. Because there was no standard second floor room available they upgraded me to a much nicer top floor room overlooking the bay. The upgraded room was much quieter so I was able sleep the remaining two nights. The property itself is set on the bay which is lovely.There are two swimming pools (one by the bay) which are a nice amenity on a hot day; the only downside is that there's music pumping from mid-afternoon to early evening. On the whole I'd say the older buildings are too noisy to allow for good sleep so if you can afford a room in the newer wing overlooking the bay that would be the better choice.

Nice property and staff- convenient to many places we went to. The room was ok, not amazing but also not terrible. I do wish there were drapes to darken the room at night as we had a lot of light from the pool coming in. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and appreciate the pet friendliness too! I’d stay again!

Not worth the money.Definitely not a resort. No elevator. Lobby and front area looks nice but the buildings the rooms are in look old motel vibe. Room was 58 degrees when we got in! The blinds wouldn’t close all the way so light crept in all night and bright in the morning. No beach access! Closest is a few minute drive down the street but it’s not the type of beach with waves. It’s just little cove type areas. further down to mission beach boardwalk there’s actual beach, 8 min drive or 30 min walk. Wish we walked because we spent 1hr looking for parking and never found a spot so couldn’t even go to the beach. This was Saturday and Sunday so maybe during the week it’s better for parking. Overall hotel looked very different online. I was expecting to get a vacation resort not an outdoor motel. I should have done more research to find that the beach was so far and how the rooms were so that’s on me, but also just looks very different online and the fact that you can “reserve 2 beach chairs and umbrella” made me think there was beach access. The restaurant is overpriced. The 2 free beverages you get each day are water.. bummed that I spent $900 to stay here for a few nights. Pool bar wasn’t open very long so we never made it to that when it was open. We were in the back by the tropical pool because I think they stick families in the back. Never made it to the bayside pool since we were in the back.

Parking pass for vehicles is a bit high. Our room was ok close to the pool which was nice for our child. The rooms were ok, walls super thin for a resort honestly. You think resort you think peace and quiet. Well that won’t be the case if you have someone staying in a room next to you. Those were the only things.

This is a motel not a hotel! The room doors open straight out onto an open walkway. The rooms get very hot and there is noise from outside cars, people in other rooms, people walking past. The restaurant staff could be much more welcoming and helpful. The food could also be much improved for the price the quality of food and service doesn’t match.

The staff and check in process was extremely rude and we arrived at 9pm and all the food options were closed and we had to order uber eats which took forever because the hotel isn’t located near anything. No one is available to help with luggage and so my husband and I had to juggle the luggage cart with our new born. When we asked the bar if we could get a drink they said no (at 9:30PM on a Saturday). In the morning the wait staff didn’t help us for over 30 min and we had a newborn and kept waiting for a server. The property is also very large and the front desk gave minimal directions on a map that was confusing to get to our room in the dark and it took us forever wandering the property to find our room. The Bay is gorgeous but we won’t be staying here again.

I would come back here in a heartbeat. The customer service was phenomenal. They worked hard to accommodate me with my back disability and a room. They were just gracious and kind. The grounds are beautiful and relaxing.

The pools hot tubs bars are views are good. The front desk service was poor this trip told me couldn’t get upgrade as VIP member cause of some lame excuse hotel was between 71 and 80% capacity but there was a group of over 50 high school students who left the next day then the place was empty. You can pay extra they said for park view room so they did have rooms available. Asking for late check was also a joke told me had to call day of for check out then when I finally got one hour later checkout the maid knock on my door at 10am told her I got noon checkout then same maid knocks again at 11:30 am said again I have noon checkout obviously maids need to check with front desk on who is checking out and when! On checkout got a pool key to use for next 3 hours before i left which was good I asked if they had a room I could change and shower they told me no but I did find one they the card unlocked and I used. Front desk service has gone way down hill here only word they respond to any request is No!

The hotel has a ridiculously late 4 PM check in, and they are not willing to give you any leeway, not one minute before 4 PM, then the receptionist with a truly awful attitude, said he would call me when my room is ready an hour and a half goes by, I walk into reception and he lies and tells me he tried to call me and he absolutely didn’t. I showed the manager my phone history and nothing was done. All customer service. The hotel rooms are like a motel. The place is way overpriced, find somewhere else..

We enjoyed our stay at The Dana. The location was great for walking to Seaworld or Mission Beach (Belmont Park). We didnt have a car but the buses stopping outside the hotel were fine and uber/lyft more convenient to us versus hiring and paying on-site parking. The hotel itself was clean, swimming pools heated and the film nights kids enjoyed. The firefly on site is convenient and had enough options for evening meals, didnt try breakfast so cannot advise. Only downsides to share were our first room was somewhat smelly and we were given an alternative immediately when asked (assume it was previously used by someone with a dog as its pet friendly hotel) and we vacated during spring break and there were lots of older kids / young adults partying in the pool / by the hotel rooms on a couple of evenings which wasnt ideal for a family. Even with this would stay again as location was great for us versus downtown or La Jolla for example and lyfts to most places were no more than $20-25. Hope to visit again some time.

Property is lovely; staff go above and beyond to make your stay exemplary. Restaurant is quite good. I don’t believe there’s a breakfast option. The pool area has ample lounge chairs and waitress service, which is definitely a plus. The room is okay - nothing to write home about. The beds were fine, although not outstanding. There’s a refrigerator, robes, ironing board and iron, and a coffee maker. There’s a desk with one chair, so it’s not amenable to two people playing games and it makes the room cramped. The room shows its age. But overall, a lovely stay on the bay!

There is 5% fee associated when you eat out to make up for wage increases. That’s not really fair- especially with what they charge for rooms and food/beverages. Beds were okay. Service was slow in the firefly but food was good when it got to us. The bartender was great ( shaved head gentleman) and quick. Beware of park view rooms. The park is very busy/active with people outside your door till late in the night. Paid extra for park view- will skip that next time and pay for Bayview. Also- they no longer have buffet for purchase like the pictures suggest.

Very clean property, and great place to get away and relax! Firefly restaurant was delicious and is your go to for meals if you want to stay on site and play all day. The beds were just ok. I’m used to more of a pillow top feel.

My husband and I stayed here two nights for our anniversary. What a wonderful experience! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The grounds were absolutely beautiful and well kept. Our room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Both pools/hot tubs were beautifully maintained. We enjoyed these both nights (movie night at the pool was a nice touch). There was plenty to do for couples and family, on and off of the water. We had breakfast and dinner at the on-site restaurant, which was fantastic. The service and food were excellent. I would definitely recommend this establishment!
