The Dilly is a lovely hotel and we have stayed many times. The pool is lovely but very cold. The breakfast can be a little busy at times and one of the tea/coffee machines was broken that lead to massive que’s . We had a suite but our daughter found the bed to be uncomfortable and our previous suite did not have this issue. Our bed was too soft and both my wife and I struggled to sleep. At the time of our stay there was very loud roadworks taking place and some work next door and due to our rooms location found this to be what is classed as excessive noise. Please note as a defence it is half term and the hotel was very busy and on previous stays recently we had no noise issues and the suite was lovely and hence why we returned. Staff are lovely and polite and the hotel is in an amazing location and has great facilities and usually breakfast is easy and too a good standard.

It's in a great area and has some cool things, like a sauna and a pool, and a towel heater in the bathroom. But the carpet in our room was really old, as was the office chair. I would say it's a comfortable stay, not a luxurious stay, and they are trying their best.

Old hotel with chipped paint, worn chairs in the room. WiFi signal was weak and often had to rely on cell data for service. steaming tv rarely worked. The TV would turn on in the middle of night and wake us up. Engineer came up twice and could do nothing. He said it was happening to several guests of the hotel. Great location for walking but terrible for cabs/uber due to congestion. Overpriced rooms for the condition our room was in. 1 of 2 elevators broke down for 2 days, and resulted in long waits. The gym/pool is nice. Room service was mediocre at best. I would not stay here again. Manager was not helpful when I complained.

Fantastic hotel absolutley relaxing comfortable and in the best location. The facilities and service here are just the best. Would not stay anywhere again in London except this hotel. Cannot fault anything but the pool was closed for some work which we had booked this hotel to have a seim but somethings you cannot control.

No refrigerator, elevators barely work, no real air conditioning (no thermostat, just a set of knobs for a room fan). For a hotel this expensive, a mini-fridge is a no-brainer. If you stay for more than a couple days, you can't bring snacks or drinks back to the room - it will rot or get hot. One elevator was out of order the entire time we stayed, for over a week. I don't think they had any plans to fix it. During my stay, I kept encountering people with suitcases waiting for an elevator, heading to their plane or train. Once an elevator arrived, it was packed with people with suitcases. We started just hitting the Up button so we'd get on -an- elevator and have a chance of going out. We adjusted by leaving 20 minutes early for our flight. The beds only had thick blankets on them, not normal sheets. It was the summer, so you either had no covers or you'd sweat. The lack of the thermostat was an issue as just leaving the room fan on would make it frigid in the middle of the night. The location was great. We were steps from the London Underground Piccadilly station, and you could literally see the hotel marquee once you stepped up to the street. We were walking distance from a great many landmarks - Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square, St. James Park, Buckingham Palace, etc. This had its downsides - the street was a mob after 10am and restaurants were super busy. There was a massive gym and pool, staff was great, housekeeping every day, but I'd rather have a fridge.

I paid over £600pn for a suite on room only basis so I could stay with two kids. I was expecting something lovely but we got less than basic. The whole room was tired. Windows don’t open. No curtain in the living room. Bottle of water warm as just on the side. No milk for for coffees. Fridge empty. Walls we're grubby. Bathroom looks like it belongs in an old peoples home. Furniture is poor quality and the bed was an uncomfortable double. There was rubbish in the hallways. Plugs and light switches didn’t work in the room. Extra bed requested not made up. Shower leaks out all over the floor. Restaurant floors held together with tape. Breakfast counters were so gross, covered in food and juice that we walked out and went to a cafe. They made the bed but left PJs in a pile on top of the air con unit and didn’t give clean glasses. Only basic toiletries provided. The pool area was less than inviting. Very dark and run down. All in all, poor experience. Literally only positive is central location. Definitely doesn’t fit usual 5* expectations.

There was hoarding all over the front of the property that we were unaware would be there. No notification of this whatsoever. I wouldn’t have booked the hotel if I would have known. Street noise was awful, constant sirens and cars/TikTok’s blasting music. Hallways noisy even late into the night. The rooms were cleanish, but stains all over carpets and furniture. It wasn’t a pleasant stay and I wouldn’t return.

To say the hotel is tired is an understatement. Carpets stained paint peeling. Fixtures and fittings look 50+ years old. To advertise and charge as a 5 star but to offer that level is astonishing. Location outstanding and staff pleasant but the whole place needs a serious refurb

The hotel is nothing like advertised. There is no air conditioning, the hotel brought a fan to my room. The hotel also ruined my laundry, and lost many items. To their credit, they did give me a generous refund. The cleaning was terrible, after 3 days of leaving a dirty glass on the night stand, I had to hand it to the hotel maid. The fitness center is first rate, I will give them that. However, I will never stay here again. I come to the West End 2 times a year, but I will not be staying at the Dilly.

How dare this hotel carry a 5 star rating. Honestly, I’ve stayed in fancier Premier Inn’s. Absolutely disgraceful. I feel nothing short of scammed after staying here. It’s a great location but that’s all you’re paying for. The rooms and service are substandard. The bathrooms are disgusting. I feel sorry for the people that work there - when I was checking out some poor woman was having her ear chewed by another unhappy guest and was obviously not permitted to do anything. Honestly, choose anywhere but here.

The reception staff were not super welcoming, and there was “no fight” between them to welcome us despite there being two young women at reception. We get a room that is definitely NOT worthy of a 5 star hotel. There was hair in the bathtub, dust mites and stains on the carpet and an internet box split in two in the middle of the floor. We went down and explained ourselves to a young man at reception, who was very apologetic and was kind enough to let us change rooms immediately. The new room was better after all, but still very lacking. Among other things, the free biscuits in the room are completely crushed in the package, the bathtub is filled with some blue chemical-like substance on the edge. And we had to go down to reception ourselves at bedtime and ask for two single duvets that we had asked for earlier in the day and had been promised would be brought up.

Have normally had good stays here but this time was in room 709. Working area was in a very dark corner of the room with no lights. They need to install a floor lamp or table lamp in that area. Triad move one of the bedside lamps but not a compatible plug in the area.

Arrived late and although we were upgraded to junior suite, at my request, the room was noisy and dark with very little natural daylight. I requested another room the next morning, which was better and more comfortable still was shabby and ill thought out. The hotel is in need of a major upgrade, its old and looks it. Excellent location and food was good, however the the price not value for money

Check-in receptionist wasn't very friendly. The public areas were lovely, however the room was extremely disappointing. Plug sockets not secure, decor needs updating and toilet seat doesn't stay up (for men this is quite tricky!) Definitely not worth the cost. I feel you pay for the location. Overall - very disappointed

Everything in this hotel feels old — or, as one of the staff told us, “vintage.” That’s one way to put it. For example, flushing the toilet is basically a workout. The phone in the room didn’t work the 1st day, so every time we needed something from reception, we had to go downstairs in person. And we had to do that a lot, since we ran into several issues that day including having to change rooms (our mistake). The AC worked very randomly: even when we set it to the maximum temperature sometimes it blasted too cold while being extremely noisy. Sleeping comfortably was a challenge. Noise was also a problem in general: the walls are thin, so we could hear everyone walking back to their rooms or talking in the room next to ours. That said, the staff were very kind and helpful, and the location is truly amazing and close to everything.

The location is by far the best thing going for this property. Other than that, the cleanliness was well below par for a property of this price, the staff was not very responsive to needs and did not care, we had to change rooms due to hotel turning off AC and having the heat on, etc. The building itself is just dated. The fitness center is nice, the pool is good sized. Overall, it’s just not on par with similarly rated hotels. It did not meet expectations.

The Dilly was a beautiful hotel. The beds were really comfortable and the location was fantastic, next to the theatres and walking distance to all the local amenities. My only real complaint is that the AC wasn’t working and it was very hot in our room - the window didn’t open either. So, in spite of all the positives, we were unable to get a night’s sleep.

TLDR version: would never stay here again. I am baffled that they are rated 5 star Pros: good location. All staff we interacted with were excellent. Downstairs bar had great cocktails that were worth the price. Hotel smelled nice. Generous breakfast offering Cons: -There is zero climate control. First room they put us in was unbearably hot. We brought this to their attention as we left for dinner and they said they would have an “AC unit” brought up. When we returned that evening, the AC unit was in fact just a fan and the room was even hotter. We had to ask for a new room at 10pm. The room they moved us to was cooler, but still too warm, and on top of that was smaller, more run down, and overlooking a construction site which woke us at 7am each morning (on the weekend). Heard multiple other guests complaining of the unbearably hot rooms at the front desk and the staff responded with “central system, no control, etc.” - rooms are extremely dated and have zero noise proofing - bedding is very sub-standard for a “5 star hotel” - our shower had hair in it from the previous guest - the elevator wait time is absurd It baffles the mind that this hotel has a 5 star rating. Would not recommend, will not be back.

Food options very limited. Indian restaurant or pizza in your room isn’t a good variety. Five star staff and location but amenities are no way near five star. It’s my second time staying there. After my first time there I asked for a quieter room as having a room opposite the lift was very noisy. This trip I was put opposite the staff laundry room and was very noisy. The hotel is old and yes modernized a bit but the walls are like paper. You can hear next room guests showering!

The service was terrible - ordered some champagne to be delivered to the room for my wife’s birthday. It never arrived. Phoned room service and the front desk continuously and got no reply. Eventually went to the bar myself (quiet, so no excuse of being too busy). Second night we returned from the theatre and again tried to order drinks for the room from room service. This time the phone line to room service and the front desk were continually engaged. This time I phoned from my mobile on an external line and got a very rude person on reception who would not help at all and we were unable to order drinks to the room! Service is everything and this was completely unacceptable, especially considering this is a top 5 star hotel in the centre of one of the greatest cities in the world. We will never return.

Service staff were good however check in was a mess. Despite arriving early and being checked in without being giving room numbers. When we came back at 15.00 only one room was ready. I was assured that both rooms were in same floor. So we proceeded to go out and get the other room upon return. Only to find I was allocated a room on the 2nd floor instead of the 6th along with the family. 2nd floor is far to close to the street and was not what I was told. Reception desk were of no help when questioned in this and just blamed their colleagues for the mistake. No apology made. For five star this was poor service considering I booked two room and only to have one available in the first instance. Especially again since i had just spent over 300 euro for an afternoon tea in the terrace. Room service did not answer either when called several times.

We had the most amazing 4 night stay at the Dilly. The service was phenomenal from front desk, concierge, bell hops, and anyone we encountered really. The hotel was comfortable and felt upscale. My last night there they dropped off Champaign, fresh fruit and treats). You can’t beat the location for central to shopping (Regent St , Bond st shops, Fortum and Mason) dining (SoHo and Carnaby) and tube stations (Piccadilly and Greenpark are both close by). We definitely stay here again when I stay in London.

The service was consistently excellent! My room was cleaned and restocked daily without fail. The standout moment, though, was at checkout: one of the staff members, Ali actually walked with me to the station and helped carry my large suitcase all the way to the ticket kiosk. That kind of thoughtful gesture really stuck with me. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Dilly! We were there for a week and would definitely stay there again. The staff was always so kind and helpful. Henry gave us a big welcome! The building is over 100 years old, so with that in mind, it’s in excellent condition. If you are used to brand new and sparkling clean, keep in mind that for London 100 years is new compared to the other buildings that are 1000 years old. The Lobby is very modern. The pool is very pretty. I was a little disappointed that there was scaffolding and we couldn’t see the building from the front, but that’s life in the big city. They have a serious gym. The best thing is that it is so conveniently located to everywhere. We barely used public transportation. We went to 4 shows and could walk back every night. It’s so close to the action, but in your room you feel very peaceful. We did high tea at the Dilly. The desserts are pieces of art, you feel guilty biting into them! If you are looking for charm and convenience with an excellent staff, look no further! The Dilly is the place!

Great location and staff—AC was an issue at first We stayed at the Dilly in mid-June and paid about $437/night, including taxes and breakfast. The location is unbeatable—just a couple minutes from the Piccadilly Circus tube station and basically across the street from Fortnum & Mason. Perfect base for exploring central London. The room was decent size for London (248 sq ft), but we had an issue with the AC. I had confirmed ahead of time that the room had central air (no individual control), but when we arrived, it wasn’t working and the windows don’t open. The room was hot and stuffy. To their credit, the duty manager sent up a good fan right away, and halfway through our stay the AC kicked on. It wasn’t cold, but it made the room comfortable enough. The bathroom was basic but fine—good hot water and heated towel rails, which helped a lot. The hotel itself is older (they mentioned a renovation coming in the fall), but it still looked presentable. The pool and sauna were nice. The bar felt a little uninspiring, but the breakfast was excellent—plenty of quality choices and attentive service. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. It’s definitely a pricey stay, but the convenience of the location and solid service helped make up for some of the shortcomings. Would stay again if the AC situation improves post-renovation.

A grand hotel in a great location so convenient for Transport, Sights and Dining options. A good stay in a comfortable room and the highlight was breakfast which was superb. The hotel doorman must be the best in London so knowledgeable and always happy to assist.

The public areas of the hotel ie Reception was well kept. The rooms are in serious need of modernisation and are very dated and look tired. The bathroom in our family room was terrible made worse with very little water pressure in the shower meaning a half decent shower was impossible. Room service was expensive and very poor. My wife ordered a cup of tea which took half an hour to arrive and when it did, it arrived with no milk which we had to wait a further 10 minutes for. The terrace bar was inaccessible during all our stay which was very disappointing as the hotel books it out for Christmas parties which can be very loud and go on until late if you have young children like we do. This caused a problem as the other social areas, are not really suitable for children.
