I do not make this claim lightly - my girlfriend and I agree that our stay at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington DC was our best hotel/resort stay ever, anywhere. Our Junior Suite was immaculate in every regard, the food and drinks at their restaurant/bar (Peacock Alley) ideal in every way. But the best part? The PEOPLE. Every staff member there treated us like royalty. They did not judge that I was wearing shorts and t-shirts most of the time - they made us feel like we were the most important people in the building with every interaction. I will not forget their level of service, and will stay there again anytime I have an opportunity to visit Washington DC.

Excellent hotel. 5 stars , posh and clean. Although very old building, it is maintained, renovated and kept as new. Lobby is fantastic and we just chilled there for coffee and ambience. Worth the stay and more.

Honestly one of the nicest and friendliest hotels I have visited. The property is gorgeous and spotless. The lobby is decorated seasonally. We got to enjoy a beautiful fall theme with a harpist (playing some fun modern tunes also) in the lobby. We ate two meals and dessert in the lobby bar Peacock Alley. The food was exceptional. Very fresh ingredients prepared beautifully. This was a local one night trip for us for fun and even though we were only away for one night, it really felt like a break. The entire staff of reception, valet, bell stand, restaurant were all kind and helpful without fail. They truly wanted us to have a nice time and it showed. Thank you all.

Our stay was amazing. The valet so helpful, registering was quick with very nice people. Our maid pulled down our beds and gave us great candy plus checked to see if we needed anything at all. Just a great place to stay. Very clean and beautifully decorated

Everything was excellent. Two great restaurants in the lobby. Walking distance to monuments n museums. Friendliest staff ever. Breathtaking 360 degree view of dc from the clocktower. Definitely worth a visit.

The hotel was gorgeous, but it was made special by Mr Khan in Peacock Alley, Amber at the concierge desk (it was her second day, and she killed it), and Albert (the manager). Will definitely be back.

The property itself is beautiful, however the interior finishings are a bit dated (felt very much like a Trump International Hotel with too much fake gold and glam). It also didn't feel to have enough staff for its size. I arrived at a 4pm check-in, however my room was not ready. I went for a walk, returning at 5pm to be told that my room was still not ready. After waiting in the lobby for 45 minutes (and getting nervous that I would not be able to change in time for a dinner reservation I had at 6:30pm), I approached the reservation desk again and said I would have to cancel the reservation and find another hotel if I could not have my room. Within minutes a room was found for me and I checked-in. From that point I had a very nice stay at the Waldorf, although a fruit basket was left for me in my room with a card written to another guest's name. I had never experienced that kind of error in a Four Seasons, St. Regis, or Ritz Carlton. Overall it was a good stay, but not worth the price tag given the 3-star service.

The room is nice and spacious. The front desk is very helpful. Food and coffee in Peacock Alley is quite nice. The only letdown is that the room makeup service: first we spent a hour waiting for the staff to come after I requested a makeup room service by phone around 15:15pm; so I called them again, they finally came after another 15 or 20 minutes. Second, staff often forgot to replace or replenish items. On the first day the staff forgot to replenish our coffee capsules and drinking water. We changed the tip from $4 to $5 on the second day. This time they did replenish the coffee capsules and water, but not the almost-emptied tissues and floor towel in the bathroom. It seems they are short of staffs; not meeting the Waldorf standard; unusually, they are the best in my past experience with them in all the cities a travelled.

The hotel is completely run down. The furniture is scratched, the carpeting and upholstered furniture is stained. The room backed up into the loading area and trucks had their reverse beepers going non stop starting at about 5:30. There is no bell service and no one helps with the luggage in or out. Expensive, snobby, ridiculously bad customer service. Put us in a room that was guaranteed to be noisy because of its location next to a laundry chute that had a motor running and other mechanical sounds. When we asked to be moved, they transferred us to a lower quality room that smelled of cleanser and didn't even have a bathtub and was one floor above street level which guaranteed that we would hear traffic sounds throughout our stay.

The hotel is completely run down. The furniture is scratched, the carpeting and upholstered furniture is stained. The room backed up into the loading area and trucks had their reverse beepers going non stop starting at about 5:30. There is no bell service and no one helps with the luggage in or out. Overall a really bad and overpriced hotel.

I do not make this claim lightly - my girlfriend and I agree that our stay at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington DC was our best hotel/resort stay ever, anywhere. Our Junior Suite was immaculate in every regard, the food and drinks at their restaurant/bar (Peacock Alley) ideal in every way. But the best part? The PEOPLE. Every staff member there treated us like royalty. They did not judge that I was wearing shorts and t-shirts most of the time - they made us feel like we were the most important people in the building with every interaction. I will not forget their level of service, and will stay there again anytime I have an opportunity to visit Washington DC.

The property itself is beautiful, however the interior finishings are a bit dated (felt very much like a Trump International Hotel with too much fake gold and glam). It also didn't feel to have enough staff for its size. I arrived at a 4pm check-in, however my room was not ready. I went for a walk, returning at 5pm to be told that my room was still not ready. After waiting in the lobby for 45 minutes (and getting nervous that I would not be able to change in time for a dinner reservation I had at 6:30pm), I approached the reservation desk again and said I would have to cancel the reservation and find another hotel if I could not have my room. Within minutes a room was found for me and I checked-in. From that point I had a very nice stay at the Waldorf, although a fruit basket was left for me in my room with a card written to another guest's name. I had never experienced that kind of error in a Four Seasons, St. Regis, or Ritz Carlton. Overall it was a good stay, but not worth the price tag given the 3-star service.

Beautiful. Not a five star experience. Doormen held door watching elderly woman carrying her own walker up the entrance stairs! Never offered to help. My husband did and I made a comment. Their reply was “she could have used the ramp”. Geeze. No bathtub oils, salts or luxury products. The room service was good. Made to your liking. Front desk never answered the phone. Could really learn customer service from Red Carnation in London. Will probably not return in September.

Chose the hotel for a kid-dad trip. Not a good choice. We wanted location for easy sightseeing and a nostalgic feel. Unfortunately there are no TVs in the room, no pool and the service at the restaurant was really poor. They mixed up and forgot orders both days we stayed. Definitely not worthy the huge price tag.

The room is nice and spacious. The front desk is very helpful. Food and coffee in Peacock Alley is quite nice. The only letdown is that the room makeup service: first we spent a hour waiting for the staff to come after I requested a makeup room service by phone around 15:15pm; so I called them again, they finally came after another 15 or 20 minutes. Second, staff often forgot to replace or replenish items. On the first day the staff forgot to replenish our coffee capsules and drinking water. We changed the tip from $4 to $5 on the second day. This time they did replenish the coffee capsules and water, but not the almost-emptied tissues and floor towel in the bathroom. It seems they are short of staffs; not meeting the Waldorf standard; unusually, they are the best in my past experience with them in all the cities a travelled.

Beautiful hotel! Excellent location, 15 minute walk to the White house, 2 blocks away from the Smithsonian museums. The hotel was perfection, highly impressed. Quiet, elegant, staff was friendly and professional. Food was delicious. Couldn't have asked for a better stay. Two thumbs up, highly recommend. I would return.

This property was beautiful! The staff was very friendly and attentive. Stefania at the front desk even sent a surprise for my daughter to our room, which was very nice and thoughtful from her, and my daughter loved it. The food was delicious! Room service would always arrive within 30 mins or less.

The property is gorgeous and the staff was very attentive and pleasant.The food was not great. The lobster roll is terrible. It appears to be sautéed with so many spices and pumpkin seeds that that lobster could have been a tofu substitute and we would have hardly known the difference. The breakfast arrived cold due to the difficulty that they have getting the food from the basement kitchen onto a busy elevator. (Explanation we received.). Seems to me that they need a better system.

Honestly one of the nicest and friendliest hotels I have visited. The property is gorgeous and spotless. The lobby is decorated seasonally. We got to enjoy a beautiful fall theme with a harpist (playing some fun modern tunes also) in the lobby. We ate two meals and dessert in the lobby bar Peacock Alley. The food was exceptional. Very fresh ingredients prepared beautifully. This was a local one night trip for us for fun and even though we were only away for one night, it really felt like a break. The entire staff of reception, valet, bell stand, restaurant were all kind and helpful without fail. They truly wanted us to have a nice time and it showed. Thank you all.

The staff was absolutely incredible. They all went the extra mile and stopped by every evening to offer a chocolate (or anything else we may need). In room meal service was outstanding and the location to everything we wanted to see was perfect.
