The staff was young and awesome and the valet service was quick and seamless. You pull right out front and your car stays in the gated lot right behind the hotel which I liked in case we needed to get something or wanted it out fast. The hotel was quiet as a peep and spotless. It is close to the "T" which is super nice and very walkable eateries and stores. We loved our stay and I will for sure come back and see them again. Bed was comfy, shower was nice and they also offer nice coffee and water which is so nice to have. The gym was super cool too! Nice job to the young and sweet staff!

Excellent location and clean, quiet. But the elevator was out for some of my 5 day stay. And I am 73 and on the 3rd floor. Also, you had to ASK for your room to be cleaned daily. Otherwise it was not. Even clean towels would have been nice.

This is a really great property, especially if you’re traveling as a couple! The room is small but very thoughtfully laid out, The bed is very comfortable, and the shower is heavenly! Also, there is a good work area in the basement with strong WiFi - great if you are on a work trip! And the T (Metro) is right next door, so Boston is just a short train ride away! I strongly recommend Hotel 1868, and intend to stay there again next time I’m in Boston!

Very nice hotel. Unique design. Very friendly staff. Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond their control the elevator wasn’t working well so it was out of order for a couple of days. Glad I was only on the 2nd floor.

While it was in Cambridge, getting downtown to Boston was easy because the train station was right across the street. Good restaurants and shopping in the area. Hotel was clean and nice.

Location of this hotel was great, the red line was right across the street from the hotel and only 4 stops into central boston. Area was nice and quiet. Hotel was very clean and modern. Staff were all really friendly and helpful. Bed was very comfortable also and the shower was amazing, good pressure and nice toiletries.

Cleanliness in rooms in general was poor. Because of a dirty room, I ended up changing rooms, so I got to see several. All rooms appear to be quite tiny. Rooms overlooking Mass Ave were quite noisy. Rooms have thermostats that are difficult to use and which emit a lot of un-blockable light. I will not stay here again.

Nice property right across from a T line entrance. Rooms are very nice. My only complaint is that there is a lot of street noise and we could hear the people on the floor above walking around. Earplugs solved the noise issue, though. Staff is very nice.

Very convenient location right by the T and easy to walk to dining and shopping options. Interior design was nice, bed was comfortable, bathroom and shower worked well. The only downside was that the room was very small with minimal storage space (no closet in the bedroom, no cabinet in the bathroom, skinny desk with 1 small chair), so it was really cramped to have 2 people. This would be perfect for a short solo visit, but not ideal for longer stays with 2 people.

Very pleased with our recent stay - very clean, comfortable room. Right across from the Porter St T Station. Lots of shops/restaurants within walking distance. Easy check in/check out - friendly staff. Would have loved a mini-fridge in the room - all else 5 Stars!

Good basic hotel. My room overlooked an AC unit and a small roof. The soundproofing wasn’t great. I could hear steps above my room when I was trying to go to sleep and when I woke up. Several doors slamming in the hallway in the morning wasn’t so peaceful. Room was fine, if small. A lamp didn’t work. Shower was small. Mattress was puffy but a trifle uncomfortable. Safe was on the floor and a bit hard to access. AC worked well. Front desk staff were fine, but typical aloof Gen Z attitude. Perfunctory and not friendly. Felt transactional. I felt a bit like a gnat. I did appreciate the microwave in the basement as I had to use it for medical purposes. I valeted my car, there’s a charge, but all fine. Very well-located in the Porter Square area.

This is a really great property, especially if you’re traveling as a couple! The room is small but very thoughtfully laid out, The bed is very comfortable, and the shower is heavenly! Also, there is a good work area in the basement with strong WiFi - great if you are on a work trip! And the T (Metro) is right next door, so Boston is just a short train ride away! 2nd stay at this hotel. It's convenient to Harvard Sq and the Red Line into Boston. Room is quiet, hotel is modern, coffee shop is excellent. Only complaint this time: the room was really small: one chair (more like a bar stool); shower and sink are the same space (and the only bathroom plug is there), no place to put a suitcase except the entrance. In the future, avoid the room next to the elevator.

Rooms were clean and well stocked but very small. Location is across the street from the metro so that makes it easy to get a round. Valet parking was perfect. I thought location was a bit off the beaten path but I am new to Boston so wasnt sure where to stay.

My credit card was collected for “incidentals” and charged the full rate for the room, even though I already paid for the room via Orbitz. I now have to go to the front desk, during the time when I should be at work, and get this worked out. Otherwise everything was fine with the hotel. It’s a little loud because my window faces Mass Ave, but not too bad. I might be back on my next trip… if they can resolve the Cc charge issue.

I was not able to stay at this hotel due to an accident that happened in the week prior to my intended stay. In the accident, I fractured multiple ribs and was not able to travel to Boston by plane or car. I called the hotel on 6/16 and spoke to Jordan requesting that the hotel make an exception in their refund policy in light of my unique medical conditions (and offered to provide medical documentation). I also spoke to a representative at Expedia (where the booking was originally made) and they said the decision on the refund of $238 was up to Hotel 1868. The Hotel 1868 denied my request for a refund. My son will be attending Harvard University and we anticipated staying at Hotel 1868 multiple times in the future. It is unfortunate that the management at Hotel 1868 feels that retaining $238 is worth losing a customer and the associated future business. I am sure that as it is summer in my "paid for room" was rented anyway so they made double. I am providing this feedback so hopefully the next customer with this situation will be treated differently. Regards, David Stacy

Cute hotel, comfortable rooms, convenient location. Only issues were 1) we tried calling 4 times to let them know flight was significantly delayed, and no one ever answered the phone, and 2) there is a frosted glass window between the bathroom and the bedroom, which means if anyone turns on the bathroom light, the bedroom is illuminated (which woke both of us up at different points during the stay).

This is my third time staying at Hotel 1868 and it is my go to hotel in Boston. The location is convenient to Harvard, and right across from the T so you can get around the city easily. Rooms are clean, well maintained and very comfortable and the staff are helpful and friendly.

Everything is brand new and shining. The room is small but functional. The bathroom is sizable. Very comfy queen bed. Big tv. Very quiet (I asked for a room on the back side). The lobby decor is kind of cool. The location is excellent, across the street from the T stop.

Location of this hotel was great, the red line was right across the street from the hotel and only 4 stops into central boston. Area was nice and quiet. Hotel was very clean and modern. Great place to use as a base for exploring Boston on public transport. T station right opposite, buy a day (or longer) Charlie card and travel all over on the public transport system. Easy links to airport and cruise port. No food at hotel but number of eateries within walking distance plus Neros coffee shop under he same roof.

I think the hotel had been recently renovated. Very new and modern. Rooms are small but efficient. Not crazy about the shower. The floor is slippery when wet and it is open so easy to get most of the bathroom wet. The location is perfect though, across the street from the T. Nice cafe next door and Andy's Diner down the street. Lots of restaurants nearby.

Hotel is new and nicely designed, modern, and room although small, had nice design with shelves and storage, so it felt bigger. Bedding was very comfortable and bathroom very nice with gray tiles and glass wall step-in shower. Good Coffee shop and great Açaí juice bar next door. Walked down the street .9 miles for a great tapas restaurant called Barcelona.

Came to Cambridge to see a play in Harvard Square. This was a perfect spot to stay. Walkable to Harvard Square and many dining options. Room was attractive and comfortable, a bit cramped and lacking in space to hang coats, etc. But perfect for a short stay when not intending to hang out in room. Staff was very friendly!

Lovely boutique hotel less than a mile from Harvard Square and right across from public transportation. Exceptional modern design and excellent friendly service. What it lacks is any in-hotel dining or nearby restaurants, except for a good coffee shop next door. Affordable valet parking a plus but Boston/Cambridge tricky for driving/parking. But I would happily stay here again.
