This place NO MATTER WHAT is going on, on the outside world..let me down. In fact and i will surely never especially now a days say that about too many properties in the Downtown Detroit vicinity and inner/outer suburbian areas such as..Troy, Southfield Farmington..just a lot of hype with not much else. The Shinola prides themselves on a one of a kind, unique, personalized experience whether yolur 1st or 5th time. Each time is a new experience, adventure scenery. All of the bedding/beds is PLUSH! If you have stuff things too do, hit the bed last thing bc you WILL MELT right into it. Honestly could rant and rave about this entire place however, seeing is believing. If you are looking for peaceful, blackout, hot showers, in room dining and just some good ole me time heres your place. You want a terrace balcony room with a mini bar anc in the heart of the party, this is a classy, boutique hotel. No self parking. Valet only.Within walking distance of anything your heart fancies!!

loved the accommodations and staff, did not have a pool but was very clean and comfortable. would have loved access to coffee in the lobby or pot with coffee offered in room. the one there was not ideal in our opinion.maybe a keurig. room service was a plus. thank you. enjoyed our stay

Parking is rather pricey but I guess it is in all big cities. Unfortunately no discount for hotel guests. Everything about this hotel is 5 star. It’s a beautiful boutique hotel in a great location

The Shinola is one of a kind and what a great stay. Brunch at the San Morella was very good. The bar is also recommended. Rooms were gracious and well appointed. I cannot wait to stay there again. Also, conveniently located near Mad cap coffee which is amazing

Pros: -Absolutely perfect location, walkable to everything downtown D has to offer - Hotel [not bar or San Morello] staff are friendly, professional, and very pleasant - Room decor, amenities and size were very nice. Cons: - Staff at both bar and San Morello seriously couldn't be less ar&&ed about service; spent most of their time talking to one another and showed the least amount of enthusiasm for their clients I've seen in ages! - And speaking of the bar, be prepared for LOUD! I mean AIRPLANE TAKE OFF DECIBEL LOUD! Be aware that being resident in the hotel won't help you to get in when it's prime time... - Room was a bit tired and beat up; needed a good refresh

We had a delightful time at the Shinola Hotel this past weekend! We brought our two dogs, and the staff kindly gave us a room right next to the pet relief terrace on the 4th floor. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful, the restaurant was delicious, our room was lovely, and the location is amazing. We will definitely be back!

Love the Shinola design and was very excited to stay here - but will not return. Dont get me wrong, the design of the room was great and the check in was friendly and a glass of bubbly was received. The films telling about brand, materials, design etc was great to watch. Comfortable bed. But the cleaning between the days was so poor and had dust in the corners and mold in the "zink hole". Don't even think the pillows were fluffed between the days. The beautiful Shinola alarm clock showed wrong time (1 hour) and be prepared to wait very long if you having breakfast in house. It did not live up to expectations and there are plenty of other hotels out there I rather try next time. But location is great, value for money less.

Great walkable location. Nice hotel. We were a little disappointed that the TV didn’t work and when I called to check on it no one called me back, but that wasn’t a huge deal since we weren’t in our room a ton. There was also water in the coffee pot, which made me wonder what else they didn’t clean. Overall though was decent stay. Great location.

Lobby and dining in hotel was an enjoyable experience and clean. I was disappointed in the cleanliness of the room. The large area rug was absolutely filthy. Given the cost of the room, buy a new rug, geez!

Staff was very accommodating! Upon arrival Mark helped us out a lot with getting our bags to our room and really genuine service. Great guy made you feel welcome! AJ helped with valet and did an awesome job also helping us load the car and making sure we were all set! Room was clean, cozy and just the perfect vibe for our stay!

We love your hotel and have stayed with you a few times and have one future date at the moment. The attention to detail is awesome. Our recent room seemed to be showing some signs of wear. The bed had a hump in the middle and pronounced depressions on both side. The sofa was a bit saggy. The bathroom and shower were excellent and things were very clean.

I particularly enjoyed the luxurious rainfall shower and the deep soaking bath, which added a touch of relaxation to my stay. The bed, pillows, and couch were incredibly comfortable, making it easy to unwind after a long day. The amenities provided were thoughtful and added to the overall experience. This place is worth the money. Stayed for 1 night for my wife’s birthday, and was shocked by how big and comfortable the room is. Was absolutely surprised to see a massive tub in the room. The bed is the most comfortable Ive ever experienced with a hotel. Would definitely stay here again!

Where do I even begin? I live in Detroit and was long overdue for a staycation. I splurged a bit, but every penny was worth it. Every single staff member I encountered was incredibly warm, thoughtful, and accommodating—how is that even possible? My room faced Woodward, yet it was perfectly quiet thanks to top-notch soundproofing. And that waterfall shower? Made me feel downright luxurious. I truly can’t wait to come back. I will say I’m not a fan of Hotels.com’s customer service.

The staff was welcoming, professional and helpful, especially Dimitrius.The room was large and had all the necessities of a home, a place for the suitcase and ample hanging room. The vanity table and close up mirror made it easy to put in my contacts and get ready for the day. The attention to details were appreciated. I would highly recommend the Shinola!

The check in was great!! Valet was great.. Got up to our room what a beautiful space it was. Our room did have a running toilet it did it probably every ten minutes, even with the toilet room door shut. We were on the fourth floor our room was a little toasty and we had the air turned down. The bed was amazing. Shower was a little confusing, but we got it. The continental breakfast at the hotels restaurant was good the first day we got a plate with bacon, I like bacon but this bacon wasn’t done I couldn’t eat it. They really don’t explain to you like what to expect like we didn’t know you had to wait for a receipt it’s kinda embarrassing when you’ve never been to a place so you don’t know what to expect don’t was just odd.. over all the stay was great the atmosphere is great.

From check in to check out every was wonderful. Thoughtful details in the room, beautiful decor, and people going out of their way consistently to make your stay more pleasurable. A special shout out to Will at the front desk for his sharp wit and welcoming nature. Could not have asked for a better stay!

Very nice hotel with decent service, but misses the mark of a true 4 or 5 star destination. Stayed here 4 nights to attend an event and a wedding. Good: Staff was very nice and accommodating. Allowed us an early check in. The room was nice and well laid out. Hotel property was nice and kept clean. Bad: Room was only cleaned 1 time in 5 days despite requests (unacceptable for a $700/ night room). No room service. Ordered food from San Morello, received a text that order was ready, and still had to wait 10 minutes upon arrival. Valet was very unorganized and chaotic.

Excellent hotel. Gorgeously appointed. Lovely room. Had a bit of trouble getting service. One day they didn’t clean our room despite saying they were sending someone. Another time our request for shampoo/conditioner (which weren’t stocked when we arrived to the room) never arrived. Otherwise lovely.

I have wanted to stay at Shinola Hotel for some time! It did not exceed expectations but did offer an enjoyable brand experience design wise. I would not recommend this stay based on hospitality or services as I found they were minimal-to-none aside from the quick valet service upon arrival and departure.

Very spacious great location but with it being on a main road our room was super noisy with sirens above ground subway system and noisy “muscles” cars going up and down the strip Lovely main floor lobby and bar. Would stay again but would ask for a different room location.

Enjoyed this hotel! Pleasant rooms and various spaces as well as great restaurants in the hotel. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Service was excellent. From the time I walked in, everyone was kind and willing to help. There was a small issue with my room but Alecia in housekeeping fixed it right away and more than made up for any inconvenience I had as result. She was amazing and made my day with her outstanding service! Great to see someone who is such a kind person and takes real pride in their work! I will definitely stay there again!

The Galley King room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel is beautiful and San Morello is amazing. The only downside to the hotel is as the breakfast. Everything we ordered came out over cooked, more over cooked than I’ve ever seen breakfast cooked. Over easy eggs came out basically hard boiled. They brought up 2 more eggs quickly but those we about the same. Our breakfast potatoes were hard as a rock and our other order, Eggs Al Forno was hard as a rock too. All that for a $70 breakfast. Overall we loved it there, the place is amazing, just avoid the breakfast.

Overall the hotel was fantastic! Loved the rooms and the experience of check in and valet was great. Awesome location to Ford Field as well and dining options. Only flaw I would say was breakfast. The staff were quiet slow and seemed frustrated by simple requests like a coffee top up or ketchup. Not sure what was going on but did not encourage me to eat at the restaurant for other occasions.

The room service was not good. Sloppy and greasy food. Could have fed the family fast food and would have been better and cheaper. Would recommend eating prior to arriving and bring a coffee pot. Complimentary amenities leave a lot to be desired. The good news is a bottom shelf bottle of vodka s only $250. Surely that could help pay for a coffee pot in each room. Okay stay but nothing more than best western

Our only problem was with dining at San Morello twice. Dinner: staging of food was awkward with appetizers coming out after dinner arrived. Breakfast this morning took 50 minutes to receive basic breakfast with over half of items not delivered.
