We stayed in a few hotels during our stay in Tokyo and Kyoto and this one was our favourite. Super modern with fantastic service and facilities. Spacious room with all the mod cons, beautiful amenities, treats, big bath & shower etc. Lemon cake and welcome drink on arrival. Fruit juices, water, soda water in fridge replenished each day. Drip coffee was cool - even loved the kettle! Big comfy bed, lounge area. Two choices of slippers - usual white ones and some japanese. Even had a dyson hairdryer. Was a few blocks from station - maybe one closer, we didnt check! Enjoyed wandering the area. Yum restaurants nearby, 7/11, Lawsons closeby. Our favourite souvenirs were from local craft store pretty much next door. Will stay again for sure! This hotel is stunning!

A staff associate, was excellent, Dody, he was very fluent in English and help us a lot, he provide us with a complete program to go to train station and to exit it and wrote messages in Japanese for the taxi driver, he was excellent. About the hotel I suggest the smoking room should have a bench or chairs and maybe add some music so smokers don’t feel it like being in prison, I renamed the smoking rooms in Japan as the “SMOKING CAGE” 😂

the room's curtain does not block much light that comes into the room from the window, resulting in the room being mostly lit when you sleep. this apparently happens with every room in the hotel, as i checked with the front desk. also the bed is extremely hard, and this also happens with every room in the hotel. with the room being ~$300/night during winter time, this is not worth the money at all. the design is kind of nice, but you can get that in other hotels that cost half as much. also, they don't have a restaurant area, so you're forced to eat inside your room. which was a bit awkward. stay somewhere else!

Hotel muito bonito, quarto espaçoso e com um banheiro incrível, mas o hotel fica com 1 staff disponível para o hotel inteiro, o que para um hotel 5 estrelas não faz sentido nenhum. Apesar do hotel lindo, no final nao tem nada além do quarto. O bar é minúsculo e não tem ninguém, o jantar é só no quarto. Café da manhã você tem que pedir com 2 dias de antecedência.

We stayed at Mogana for 3 days and 3 nights. I was speechless when I saw our room. It was super clean and the breakfast in the room was so delicious. I loved the way associates called us first to tell us when our breakfast was about to be delivered. Sano is so friendly. He answered all of our questions and gave us what we needed. I would totally recommend Mogana to my friends and family. If I have the opportunity to visit Kyoto, Japan again, I will definitely stay at Mogana.

Very modern and sleek lobby and hallways but more traditional looking rooms, though with a modern flare. This is not a cute old-style ryokan. It's a super modern hotel tucked into a quiet, perfectly-located neighborhood that deceptively has a ton of shops and restaurants. The rooms are spacious and clean, staff helpful.

Room was impeccable, the Japanese breakfast was amazing. There are coffee shops, convenience stores and restaurants nearby. It is located in a quiet street but not far from the tourist spots. Beautiful architecture, excellent service! It is one of the most beautiful boutique hotels I have stayed in.

Breakfast was excellent! Staff was very friendly and the room was very clean. We loved the fact that there was no TV in the room. The location of the hotel was a little far away from the main streets so you would need to take trains or a cab (up to 2000 yen). A short ‘Noren curtain’ to separate the bathroom/toilet area and bedroom was not ideal. We needed more privacy…we got a room with balcony but there was no chairs/table outside….

We stayed at Mogana from September 27th 2025- September 30th 2025. The hotel is beautiful, very modern as we had expected. Everything super clean and neat, in excellent condition. We received amazing customer service from Dodi & his team from the very beginning as it wax my 50th birthday treat from my husband. Dodi kindly arranged all my birthday surprises with my husband and everything was absolutely beautiful and perfect. The best hotel and service we’ve received in any hotel we’ve ever stayed at! Very highly recommended.

Rooms do look like the picture, BUT the views are NOT as advertised. You're likely looking at AC units or another unattractive view as my friends also had a similar view on the other side of the hotel. Lighting is not great in the bathroom. Coffee wasn't great as they had a drip system. Looked cute, but not awesome if you need coffee. It also wasn't as conveniently located as we thought. Not a bad hotel by any means, but not a 5 star.

Amazing hotel, unique in design and Japanese style, excellent staff and service, friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious, comfortable, very well equipped and with an amazing bathroom. Very highly recommended

I loved the way associates called us first to tell us when our breakfast was about to be delivered. Sano is so friendly. He answered all of our questions and gave us what we needed. I would totally recommend Mogana to my friends and family. If I have the opportunity to visit Kyoto, Japan again, I will definitely stay at Mogana.

Mogana is a peaceful haven. Highly recommend this hotel. Walking distance to cute shops and cafes, as well as a good shopping district. Amazing amenities. Service was impeccable. Hotel's signature drink is to die for (my friend wouldn't shut up about it!). Would stay again for sure.

We loved the room, super big and comfy, amenities were amazing. We had mixed feelings with the staff some were friendly and others not at all. We didn’t like the breakfast, the idea is beautiful but needs better execution, the food was cold and very limited.

We stayed at Mogana from September 27th 2025- September 30th 2025. The hotel is beautiful, very modern as we had expected. Everything super clean and neat, in excellent condition. We received amazing customer service from Dodi & his team from the very beginning as it wax my 50th birthday treat from my husband. Dodi kindly arranged all my birthday surprises with my husband and everything was absolutely beautiful and perfect. The best hotel and service we’ve received in any hotel we’ve ever stayed at! Spacious room with all the mod cons, beautiful amenities, treats, big bath & shower etc. Lemon cake and welcome drink on arrival. Fruit juices, water, soda water in fridge replenished each day. Drip coffee was cool - even loved the kettle! Big comfy bed, lounge area. Two choices of slippers - usual white ones and some japanese. Even had a dyson hairdryer. Was a few blocks from station - maybe one closer, we didnt check! Enjoyed wandering the area. Yum restaurants nearby, 7/11, Lawsons closeby. Our favourite souvenirs were from local craft store pretty much next door. Will stay again for sure! This hotel is stunning!

Rooms do look like the picture, BUT the views are NOT as advertised. You're likely looking at AC units or another unattractive view as my friends also had a similar view on the other side of the hotel. Lighting is not great in the bathroom. Coffee wasn't great as they had a drip system. Looked cute, but not awesome if you need coffee. It also wasn't as conveniently located as we thought. Not a bad hotel by any means, but not a 5 star.

Very modern and sleek lobby and hallways but more traditional looking rooms, though with a modern flare. This is not a cute old-style ryokan. Breakfast was excellent! Staff was very friendly and the room was very clean. We loved the fact that there was no TV in the room. The location of the hotel was a little far away from the main streets so you would need to take trains or a cab (up to 2000 yen). A short ‘Noren curtain’ to separate the bathroom/toilet area and bedroom was not ideal. We needed more privacy…we got a room with balcony but there was no chairs/table outside….

We had a balcony but it would have been nice to sit out but no chairs also no wedge to keep the door open. The privacy curtain was slightly stained and needed cleaning. It took us five days before we noticed there was no tv! All the staff were great and so helpful with booking restaurants and taxis. We enjoyed the reasonably priced western breakfast.
