Best hotel less than a mile from MacDill. Focus on sleep, has a tiny pool (called a spa) small functional gym, friendly staff. We thought it all looked clean and that was key.

You get what you pay for with this hotel. It’s clean enough and no frills. Originally we booked this hotel because of the presence of electric chargers. Upon check in we asked the front desk the cost of charging. The person replied everything was included in the parking fee. So we charged the car and went straight to rest. Only to wake up to the fact that the charging is slow, and costs MORE than the peak time of charging at fast chargers.

The Sleep Inn & Suites was a very clean, modern and comfortable hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was very comprehensive and tasty. We particularly liked the peaceful night's sleep. We didn't use the pool but it looked a little small, that's the only reason to give less than 5 stars on facilities.

It was an okay place, I saw it was highly rated and read the other reviews and thought it would be a good value stay for a quick change of plan occasion. It was fine but the elevator was not working properly, so stairs it is- no biggie I could use the exercise. No washcloths in the bathroom, kinda of aggravating. When the recent renovation was completed, they should have included new shower heads. The breakfast that other reviews raved about was just the same old continental breakfast that practically every hotel offers. It wasn’t a bad experience but it wasn’t a 9.2 either. Oh yeah they charged my card 7.42 for parking, which is ridiculous being that there is nothing sharing their lot or really anything else around to speak of. The only reason to park in that lot is to stay in that hotel.

First of all, I’d like to point out the parking details are misleading. As a customer, I’d prefer a not saying there would be additional parking charges instead of “Parking available”. That way I feel it’d be more transparent. Secondly, I would like to say if there are efforts made to address the issue with the stench in the elevator and in the hallways, that would aid in a better customer experience. Lastly, I would like to point out the flooring of the shower cubicle is very slippery, I think it is an important aspect that needs addressed. Other that the above, the hotel is pretty decent.

The room smelled so musty . The housekeeper sprayed a floral air freshener to hide the smell I opened the window and left for about 2-3 hours to air room out. When I returned it still smelled horrible and my allergies were in overdrive I went to the nice man at the front desk And asked for a room switch They did not have another room I could not spend the night in the room because I couldn’t breathe So I left and went back to my powerless home The smell was egregious The hotel could not switch my room as they were full I asked for a refund of my stay They refused they would not discuss a partial refund or a credit for future use Booked through Hotels . Com so I could not speak with the hotel I paid for the travel insurance but terrible horrible smelling room no other options so I left Don’t stay here

Not a great area. Had to pay for parking which came as a surprise. The room was clean but there was a bad smell in the lobby overlaid with disinfectant and the elevator smelled awful. Breakfast was not good, coffee was undrinkable. At least it was not overly expensive and the location was convenient.

My family had a 1 night stay for a youth sports tournament. It is about 15 min from the convention center. The rooms were very clean and the lady at the front desk was awesome. Some draw backs….. the neighborhood is a little rundown (we still felt safe). The worst thing about our stay was the smell of the hallways as soon as you get to the elevator in the lobby you can smell it. They smelled like mildew or something. I think maybe they shampooed the hallways and didn’t suck up the water properly. Anyway it made a visually clean place seem somehow dirty and it made my family really uncomfortable with the cleanliness of the place. Because of the smell we checked our rooms really really well and it was one of the cleanest rooms I’ve stayed in.

The room was pretty small like a jail cell. They had a drain in the middle of the bathroom with a sewer odor coming out. I put a rubber mat on top to block the nasty smell and sprayed cologne all over to block the stench. They have a real strict policy that you can't make any noise after 9 pm. They mute the TV's volume no higher than 21, so you can't hear the tv from your Bed. You have to sit right next to the t.v. to hear anything. Forget about any type of private time with your companion, because if you make any noise, they will kick you out. They also allow dogs in there in which I saw one urinate on the carpet. Because the rooms are so tiny. The walls must have been constructed so thinly. Or everything can be heard so I definitely will not be coming back to this place again. And I stay at so many hotels. And I rarely give a negative rating. Although the front desk people were very nice, no problem, and the breakfast was actually pretty good. But that's about it and I don't come to a room. To spend the night and spend close to $300 for a free breakfast. Given the majority of the reviews as pretty good, I thought this place would be exceptional. Although I thought wrong.

Room was very comfortable and quiet. Beds were super soft. Breakfast was very good. Pool is really a large spa fyi but enjoyed it. Area is within 1 mile od MacDill AFB if you need to be close. Front desk people very pleasant. Area surrounding the hotel is a little sketchy but hotel was very nice and served our needs.

Overall the stay was okay and was acceptable enough for the length of our stay. However, there were some things that detracted from the stay at this location. The walls in the room seemed to be super thin and you could hear almost everything from the adjacent room as if there was no wall there. The elevator also seemed to be on the verge of breaking down. The complimentary breakfast was good but options limited. So overall I would say the stay was okay but not great enough to keep on my list of places to stay again if I am back in the Tampa/St Petersburg area

Every aspect from the check in to check out was smooth and first rate; from the soaps to towels - first rate. The first front desk people at check in, later in the evening and at check out were very friendly and accommodating. This was my second Stay at a Sleep Inn and Suites (previously in Charleston, SC} and both were outstanding experiences. I would recommend Sleep Inn to anyone.

Check in was very smooth. Receptionist was very helpful with supplying us with extra pillows whatever we needed. Help us find a place to eat which was right next door. A great Cuban place next door. Enjoyed our stay. Room was clean and comfortable. Will have breakfast before we go.

The employee at the front desk was very professional and helpful. The AC in the room did not work. The front desk person was very apologetic and moved me to another room right away. She even helped me carry some bags. The hotel was nice and very clean. The breakfast was great. The location was very convenient for me. I will stay here again.

The common areas of the hotel seem well-kept and organized. The room we stayed in was quiet and maintained. The furnishings were relatively new. The hotel location was good as it's relatively closed to downtown Tampa but without the congestions of the city. There was ample on-site parking at the hotel. I would make another reservation at Sleep Inn & Suite Tampa South located at 6231 South Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL, 33611 in the future should we need to stay in the downtown Tampa area and the vicinities.

My car was stolen, a lot of banditry in that area, be very careful if you stay in that place, don't go out at night, you could be robbed, drugged people walking the streets, otherwise the hotel is very good.

The hotel was comfortable. The beds were great. Housekeeping needs to do a better job in the hallways and the details in the room. Front desk staff were friendly and the breakfast was perfect for my needs( waffles, breads, yogurt, biscuits, gravy, sausage, eggs). The issue I have was the location. There is a shabby motel across the street and as evening fell, shady characters appeared . I did not feel safe. The manager tried to reassure me that there are cameras and I shouldn’t fear but I am overly concerned.The manager was kind enough to accept my concerns and adjusted my reservations. Also, there is nothing around this hotel as far as stores, restaurants ,etc.

Substantially Below Average hotel with a very very scammy additional charge, just to park in their own hotels parking lot, which is clearly just an additional way to grab a bit of extra money out of your pocket in a completely disreputable manner. Traffic around this hotel is very dangerous, and the neighborhood itself also feels very unsafe. The night we stayed here, there was constant police activity in this area, as well as both in the hotels parking lot and in the hotel itself, which smelled strongly of weed, and was definitely not a great experience. While it was a convenient spot to stay for our Tampa cruise departure, it is definitely not an option that I would ever take again as the negatives of this property greatly outweighed any conveniences and/or benefits that its proximity to the port, and somewhat lower than average price provided. Breakfast provided was only fair, and nothing special either.
