The Longleaf Hotel

Great stay at the Longleaf. Location, free parking are highlights. Better coffee in the AM would be an improvement along with desk light to work by in the room.

Much better than expected for a two star. inexpensive hotel, in a city. If you don't need a lot of frills and free breakfast, this makes a great sleeping room for a night over. People in lobby were friendly and helpful. Had a lightly stocked fridge where you pay for things used -- not nearly as expensive as similar at major hotels. Good location for walking the downtown area in the evening. Lack of a restaurant can be an issue on a Sunday night when most things within walking distance are closed-- prepare for this.

Just average. No amenities other than the bar/lounge area which was the nicest part of the hotel, but not open during the day. There's no ice machine (broken). The standard room was just ok, small and musty. Overall, I felt catfished and it was not worth the price. There's nicer hotels closer to the center of town. This was not worth the price.

The property is near two great museums - the NC Museum of Natural Sciences and the NC Museum of History. I don't like the annoying noise coming from the refrigerator especially at night disturbing my sleep. There's no elevator, and the stairwell is very narrow.

The only reason I gave less than 5 stars for condition is that the hotel is a bit dated. This did not affect my stay at all. The staff was professional and very friendly, the bar was well-stocked, and the morning coffee was very good. This hotel is a real bargain. We walked to the capitol building, several museums, and an exceptional Japanese restaurant. The hotel was easy to get to from the interstate.

Exactly as advertised, walkable location, overall good vibes! Well appointed, comfy and charming room, friendly staff, free/easy parking, and felt very safe for a solo female traveler. Live music on the patio was great. Fun bar, free morning coffee, and filtered water station a nice bonus. Would stay here again for sure!

Gotta love the retro vibe, downtown location, economical cost, and local coffee shop brew gratis in the lobby daily. My go- to in Raleigh. Especially cool for me is the patio, which I remember as the TraveLodge pool I drove past as I child when I lived in NC.

The lack of an elevator and skimpy breakfast options were drawbacks, but overall a good experience. Given these small problems, the hotel seems a bit overpriced.

I didn’t get the bartender’s name but she was great and very pleasant, she did an awesome job. The front desk young lady wasn’t the warmest person but that didn’t bother me. The problem was when I saw 2 roaches in my room and went back to the front to request a different room, she acted like I was a huge burden for her and was dismissive while telling me my room was now on the second floor and I had to go outside to get to it. I expressed my thanks for the new room and nothing. No “you’re welcome” or “no problem” - just very inhospitable and cold. The new room was very clean.

Stayed overnight at the Longleaf and loved it. The rooms are immaculately clean. Kudos to housekeeping. The beds and linens so comfy. Love the retro style. The lounge is cozy with nice cocktails, and we loved the patio to enjoy drinks and coffee outside. Lauren at the front desk was very helpful and welcoming. Front desk Manager Anna was also so helpful and pleasant. The bar staff were attentive and friendly. Parking a plus. Regina from NY will be back.

Clean, updated, comfortable

Check in was great. The staff gave us a list of great options for food and entertainment near by for our group. Room was great, very cold temperature which is what we wanted in the very hot day we had and walking around downtown. Only complaint is there was a dirty washcloth on the shower curtain rod that I didn’t notice until I was almost done with my shower. It was very dirty and definitely not ours. Other than that will come back without hesitation just want to make sure I check the shower rod next time

Very cozy place with extremely kind and accommodating staff. The room was set up very well, but there was a big ant infestation the next morning and poorly made shower diverter that popped off with a gentle pull. Texted the hotel’s number for help but didn’t receive a reply. Had to go to the lobby in person then wait in the room. These issues took some time anway and weren’t up to basic hotel standards. But other than that, I enjoyed my stay.

This was a perfect hotel for me. Small, independently-owned and decorated in an amazing modern retro look. The room was spotless, the coffee in the bar was amazing and the staff was so friendly and helpful. I can't wait to visit again!!

My room was not cleaned. I was not informed I had to leave out a sign. Breakfast choices are VERY limited.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Loved the vintage vibe of the place. The decor was cool, the room was tidy, the bed was great. A few little things were less than ideal, but nothing major. We'd have preferred not to be on the 2nd floor (hauling our luggage upstairs wasn't easy), but that wasn't an option. The noise outside was pretty loud (thank goodness for a sound machine!). The shower curtain was a little funky on the bottom. The tub didn't drain well, so I stood in ankle-deep water for my shower. The bed was positioned about 3 feet away from the wall unit air conditioner, so it was rather chilly, blowing right on us through the night. Both at check-in and check-out, the front desk was unattended, requiring a short wait. Mostly minor inconveniences, but enough that when combined, I wouldn't likely choose to stay here in the future.

A one night stay, while traveling through Raleigh to the outer banks. Lovely updated motel style accommodation. Room air con was rather noisy and we faced into the road which was a little loud at times. But we enjoyed our stay and if we venture that way again, I’d stay here without hesitation.

Noisy!!! The staff was amazing, the rooms were very nice and comfortable. And it was walking distance to the capital, there was free parking, and Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi. However, it is so noisy that I got no sleep. It is right on top of the highway and a train track. So if you can overlook these things. It is a wonderful hotel. I unfortunately was very disappointed because for two nights I got no sleep.

The room was clean and functional but no counter in the bathroom to put stuff on is a minus. Communication from the hotel was excellent. Room on the second floor was quiet. However, I would not stay there again just because of the type of facility. Its a bar with a motel attached, even tho they call themselves a hotel. There is no real lobby and you have to go outside to get to the front desk. If you arrive on a weekend in the evening it doesn't feel very safe because the stairways are dark and there are bar clients everywhere, and people are smoking weed at the front door.

Traveled to Raleigh for a concert. This motel is so close to everything which was nice. Staff/check-in was smooth. The retro updates were tastefully done. Rooms had a slight smell (like a pool) but overall I would stay again.

The service was absolutely phenomenal. Very kind and attentive. The room was pretty good, our view wasn’t great and the bathroom was a lil snug but not a big deal. Everything else was great.

Great retro motel! Great bar and lounge area. Very very friendly staff. Comfy room and bed. Downside was the walls are paper thin and I could hear people talking, walking around on the floor above me and people watching tv. Understandable because this an old motel, so if that doesn’t bother you it’s a great spot to stay. I would definitely stay here again.

great spot-- would definitely stay again (and not just for the incredible cocktails!). Our only complaint was that the sheets (specifically the pillow cases) were a little scratchy. But the rooms were clean, well-cared for, spacious, and the bathroom is lovely with good water pressure. Plentiful parking, and VERY easy to walk around Raleigh from. Quiet, too!

Hotel is SO cool! Located right off the interstate, so it's a bit noisy at night if you're on that side of the hotel. Would stay again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay at this MCM hotel. Room was great, easy parking. Anna on the front desk was outstanding in helping us with places to see, as was her colleague at the bar. Only thing that needs improvement is communication - our flight was delayed by 24hrs and my four different attempts at contacting the hotel received no response. Looking forward to returning again soon.

The young woman who attends the front desk went out of her way to make things difficult, to make a point, or to teach us a lesson. She made us feel like we were unwelcome and that merely our presence, was putting her out. Example, our key was turned off well before checkout, but they also stopped answering the phones when ppl needed to check out, I spent so much time trying to get a hold of her, I now needed a late checkout. However, as soon as I finally got back in to my room, she showed up and gave us a good “talking to” for not requesting a late checkout… although, we wouldn’t have, had our key not been turned off and the phones turned off. When we spoke to her about late check out, she said we needed to be out by 1, but immediately went to the front desk, called the room, pretended we never had the conversation, and we MUST return to the front desk. So, although we were trying to pack up and leave, we went to the front desk, and she tried to charge us for a full night… My husband was so upset by how far she went out of her way to make things difficult and uncomfortable, he refused to even walk by the office when we were finally getting picked up to head to the office. This is clearly a case of someone who has created a sense of the staff vs the customer. Post pandemic customer service where the business has chosen to be us vs them. Creating problems where there are none. Lovely hotel and staff… bar is stellar. This person is not cut out for a customer facing role.

Doing a road trip around US. This is one of the cleanest budget hotels we have stayed in. Phoenix and Joannie are the lovely receptionists. Within walking distance of Capitol building and free excellent museums. Would stay here again.

My boyfriend and I came to Raleigh to see a concert at the Red Hat Amphitheater, we wanted somewhere close, luckily we found The Long Leaf Hotel. Check in was so smooth, Lauren was so amazing! She made sure we knew everything about the hotel, gave us some awesome recommendations for local restaurants, and was overall a delight! Next time we’re in Raleigh we will be back to The Long Leaf!!

Was in town for the women’s NCAA soccer championship in neighboring Cary. The hotel is a repurposed Travelodge but thankfully none of the corridors where rooms are located are exposed to the elements. Each hallway has a water/ice station which works very well for filling water bottles. The room was just the right size for a solo traveler and had some good amenities, including earplugs which came in handy. If you have a room parallel to Dawson St, you will have vehicular noise at all hours of the night (and also I could hear noise from other rooms/the bar late into the night). In the mornings there is free coffee in the bar area along with pastries for purchase, but you will have to go outside to get there (which is not ideal if it is freezing outside). The first morning I was there they were out of pastries by 7:15, but the second morning I had a very good apple turnover. If you’re looking for something more substantial, however, you’ll have to go elsewhere. Location-wise, the state capitol grounds and most of Raleigh’s attractions are about a 15-minute walk away and there are good places to eat nearby. Overall, I would stay here again because of the location and relative price compared to the other options in the area.

Longleaf was the perfect choice for our overnight trip to visit the museums nearby. The staff was friendly, rooms were VERY clean, and I enjoyed the motel feel with the safety of hallway entry vs standard "motel" drive-up entrances. If/when we return to Raleigh, Longleaf will be our first choice.

We enjoyed our stay at the Longleaf Hotel while attending the IBMA Raleigh. The hotel was quiet, clean and well maintained, comfortable and conveniently located, walkable to the festivities. Excellent morning coffee downstairs, too. Free hotel parking near our room and easy check in.

All of the staff I interacted with were fantastic, from the front desk to the lounge to the cleaning staff. Despite being an old motel property, the Longleaf has been nicely updated with modern amenities. The free and easy parking was a big perk for a downtown hotel. The area immediately surrounding the hotel isn't amazing, but anything you want is a quick drive or walk away.

Had a wonderful stay at the Longleaf. Check-in was quick and desk staff was friendly and helpful. Room was great - clean and comfortable, with cool "minimalist" decor. Road noise was not a problem. The location is great; it's sort of on the edge of downtown, but is very walkable to museums, restaurants, and some shopping. The area has definitely come a very long way over the years (I grew up in Raleigh).

I think this place is easy n cute. But one of the cool things about the spot is the bar that is never open very late. And you’ve got a great grounds and last couple times I’ve come they’re closed. They would really be nice if you have someone on staff to keep the grounds open so we can relax outside. There are no balconies and if you wanna have a smoke or just be outside to look at the moon, I don’t feel like it’s very accessible.

The Longleaf was a charming boutique hotel. I loved the decor, the simplicity and most importantly the friendly staff. The mid century architecture and branding drew me in and would bring me back instantly. I loved their little bar their classic merch and location. It's pretty walkable. My only improvement I could suggest is that they serve a little food out of their bar beyond the typical bar snacks. I would have hung in the bar every night if they had a few appetizers. But hey, that's a picky comment for an awesome stay.

Lounge had a great atmosphere, the Beehive Lobotomy was a lovely surprise and the overall vibe was chill. Will definitely book again.

This hotel has a very cool retro vibe. I had a delicious cocktail in the lounge one night and an excellent cup of complimentary coffee each morning of my stay. The property is very clean. I would definitely stay again!
