Argyll Hotel

Argyll is very contemporary and yet very traditionally Scottish. It appears that it is probably run by a family, who are very courteous, professional and very helpful as well. The rest of the staff are also very kind. Facility: Room is spacious for a party of 5 pax (including two kids). However the toilet was small when compared to a room of such size. Anyway it was spic & span. No basic complimentary toiletries were provided. Please remember to pack your own dental kit and shaving kits. There is no fridge as well. Plenty of fresh towels are provided. Plenty of coffee/ tea/ biscuit/ milk is provided and replenished daily. Parking: On-site free parking is available up an alley, but only 5 slots are there - one of which is taken by the Hotel Van itself. And hence that can be a hassle. However there is plenty of on-street parking, subject to parking fees dependent on the local parking rules. Sutherlands Restaurant/ Bar: Breakfast is good and has the necessary spread of items, however it may get bored due to the daily repetition. Location: Prime spot, next to the City Centre and along the same road, close to many restaurants and pubs and bars.

You DO NOT want to stay at this hotel if the temperature in Glasgow gets above 19 and sunny, at least on the upper floors! There is NO a/c and my room was very warm, difficult to sleep. They did give me a fan, it all that does is blow hot air around!

Stayed only 1 night, 5 people in 3 rooms. The hotel is showing it’s age. From the outside they have tried to make it look nice with floral arrangements but it located in a group of row houses with a very noisy bar next door that kept us op until 12:30 am. To its credit it is close to the Museum which is excellent. They use a card key lock on the door leading from the front desk which makes it very difficult to get your luggage through and there are a maddening number of very difficult to open fire doors. There are probably better choices in Glasgow. Would not stay here again. All 5 of us agreed. PS Parking in back of hotel is through a narrow dirt alleyway.

Pros: Price was very good. Location was good, lots of restaurants around, easy access to downtown via walking, bus, cheap cab and walkable to OVO Hydro. The unique tartan in each room was charming. Cold water station at front desk was nice. Call button for cabs was helpful. We didn’t have breakfast but could smell it through the open window in the morning and I anticipate it is delicious, and I appreciated the ability to open the window wide. Shower size and power was good. Bathroom was a good size and well laid out. Appreciated the free city maps at the front desk. Bed was small (which we knew coming in) but was very comfortable. Bar next door had cheap (but good) pizza. Cons: Rooms were small which we knew coming in, but looking at the room map, it appears we got the smallest room on the floor had to move furniture and garbage cans to put two suitcases on the floor. No common area to sit in as I have seen with other hotels/BNBs with small rooms. More hooks in bathroom, on walls and doors and/or shelves would be helpful to hang up towels and other things. Shower door was very short and narrow. Hotel encourages reusing towels for environmental reasons but does not offer recycling. Pillows need to be replaced. I would stay here again for a short visit but it would be a challenge to stay there for longer than three or four days.

Fire alarm went off at night. Because of a faulty system. Very warm with no vent or AC, windows don't fully open. One bed the mattress was pretty bad. Luckily I had two to choose from. The location is very nice and it was very clean in the room.

We were in a room on the fourth floor a converted attic with one roof window, which you could open slightly. It was very hot and cramped . I asked staff for a fan to cool the room. They had none. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable . There is a lift to the upper floors Parking was very disappointing they advertise a small car park with 5 spaces. This was full throughout our stay, staff ha no idea who was using the car park or if they were hotel users that were using it. There is parking outside the hotel 80 pence for 15 minutes which is very expensive and maximum 3 hours stay and free between 6pm and 8 am. We had to park at the exhibition center a 15 minutes walk away. This was not highlighted to me when i phoned prior to our stay to ask about parking . It would be helpful to be clear and visible about the parking difficulties. Breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly helpful and efficient. The reception staff also were friendly and tried to be helpful with limited resorces to help guests. The area appears run down and it was a two mile walk into the city shopping center. There is a good restaurant if you are vegetarian.

Not sure about this hotel as it needs renovation, but then it meets the basics. First impression is not good at all with worn off carpet by the reception. Lift seems very old and somehow unsafe! We only used it once - too scary! Room was spacious, but one bed so close to the door that it wasn't opening in full/bed blocking it. Rather old furniture but all clean. However, bathroom not so. Bathtub/shower, sink and toilet clean, but lots of greasy dust and dirty marks on door, extractor fan etc. I almost complained about it but then was too tired after a busy day. Breakfast was fantastic. Great, friendly staff and delicious food. The dining room is nice and looks much more modern than the rest of the hotel. I don't think we will be back just for the great breakfast though!

Great location for Kelvingrove Bandstand and the museum. Clean hotel, friendly staff. Theres a lift! Rooms are perfectly adequate. Only concern is the bath is not brilliantly accessible, if you have minor mobility issues and if you're not particularly tall, you cant see in the mirror! The bedroom mirror is obscured by the large tv. A full length mirror would have been useful too. Theres space on the walls for one. Lots of pubsxand restaurants around. We didnt eat in the hotel so cant comment.

Loved the accommodations and the staff were so friendly. Parking could be an issue if you are driving.

The hotel room looked beautiful, then you notice that your new white socks are filthy and that the carpet in the room is filthy. Walking across the hallways to the rooms theres large enough gaps in the floor boards to twist your ankle. The carpet is also up at the door bars causing a trip hazard. Stunning rooms just sort the flooring guys.

Found a used plaster in the bed which indicated that the bedding had not been changed. There is no way it could have been there if they had changed the bedding. When we checked out, they just said they would investigate it and get back to me. Not had a response yet.

Clean, comfortable bed

Stayed on the 4th floor in a room where the floor was uneven and loud and carpet was extremely dirty. The room smelled of stale smoke and the beds were extremely uncomfortable. You could hear your neighbors and it was just a creepy feel hotel. Would not stay there again if you paid me.

Everything was good and clean

Room was clean and spacious. Staff very friendly and informative. Bathroom was clean but basic. Shower over bath. Toilet roll and toiletries in shower in dispensers like you would find in McDonalds. Decor was dated and needed updating

The room was functional and clean. The bed was a little small but enough for one person or two very small people. It could do with an overall refresh it was like coming to stay at your Granny's house as the furniture is dated and worn but still functional. The bathroom clean but the temperture of water in the shower fluctuated a little to very hot and then cold.

We loved nearly everything about the Argyll. The staff is super-friendly and helpful, the buffet breakfast is incredible, and the accommodation wonderful with one exception: the mattress was old and worn and had permanent dips in it, and was therefore uncomfortable.

Front desk staff courteous. Decor seemed a bit dated. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and short in length. Old spring mattresses. Several times throughout the night I woke up to find myself sliding or tilting towards to the floor and would have to scoot back up onto the bed. Clean bathroom.

Had a great stay, just passing by town. Had a great experience with the staff except for this one person in the reception that was rude, looking in his phone the entire time, ignoring guests and myself. Barely got an answer out of him just asking a question about parking. Overall - except for him - the stay was great. Comfy bed, the other people in the staff were lovely, nice location.

Man at front desk was awfully rude. But the staff Emma was fantastic. No hot water for shower. Basic but nice room.

Friendly, professional welcome. A lovely small hotel which provided a peaceful, comfortable night. Great location for a visit to central Glasgow but also very near to Kelvingrove Park and Gallery if you need a break from the noise of the City.

On arrival the staff were very friendly and took our bags to keep in the storage. Check in was easy and efficient. The room is very clean and the beds were comfy.

My stay at Argyll Hotel was lovely, the staff are helpful and friendly. My room was clean, comfy bed with plenty of tea bags, coffee, milk and sugar. The bathroom was very clean with a lovely shower. I would definitely stay here again the next time I am in Glasgow.

I had a wonderful stay at the hotel. Everything was clean, well-organized, and comfortable. The staff welcomed us warmly and made us feel at home from the very first moment. The breakfast was excellent, and the people working there were always friendly, polite, and attentive. I would especially like to mention Hisham, who truly stood out with his professionalism, kindness, and great sense of humor. He took the time to talk with guests, made sure everyone was happy, and created such a positive and welcoming atmosphere every morning. It’s rare to meet someone who brings so much positive energy and genuine passion for their work. I also want to thank Seher, a wonderful and kind woman who made us feel safe and well cared for. Her natural warmth and smile made us feel at home. I would also like to highlight Jim at the reception for his helpfulness and friendliness, and Linda, who works in the breakfast service, for being so kind and welcoming. Finally, I want to thank all the staff who worked during the three days of my stay. Everyone contributed to making my visit comfortable, enjoyable, and memorable. Overall, it was an excellent stay with great service, a delicious hot breakfast, and staff who truly care about their guests. I would gladly come back and highly recommend this hotel to others.

Emma the receptionist is exceptional and lovely. Spoke with us and gave good recommendations. The other receptionist in the morning who is a Man is not so accommodating. Look at my sister and I in a "racist" manner and make us feel very uncomfortable. The room is spacious and warm. Lovely stay I hope reception would learn as good as Emma. Thank you.

We enjoyed our stay. I didn't feel like the reception staff were that bothered. I’d informed the hotel that it was our 10 year wedding anniversary, yet nothing was mentioned to me. We weren’t asked on leaving if we’d enjoyed our stay. This was a one off night off the children so was a special night for us. The room was comfy, but so it should be for the honeymoon suite!

Good location, easy walking to all sorts of spots

Comfortable stay in great location amongst lively Finnieston. West End a short walk away and the city centre on a bus route. Very close to the magnificent Kelvingrove Museum.

This is an excellent budget option, a good clean room, very friendly and efficient staff and we got a breakfast as part of our package. We were visiting as part of a visit to Glasgow University and the location was perfect.

Loved the clean rooms and ease of accessibility. Bathroom needed hooks/shelves as nowhere for own toiletries. Room 311. Small shower so ok for us but anyone of large stature would struggle. We ate out at nearby cafe/restaurants so can’t comment on food. Ladies on reception smiley, friendly but men not so much. Not sure why? That said all were helpful. Good transport nearby for city centre and several nearby places to visit. I would recommend a stay here.

Excellent place to stay close to the center of town with good walkability.

We were staying in the honeymoon suite. It looked nice, and was clean. Sadly the bed was really uneven and uncomfortable, I hardly slept. No sign of the advertised bath robes. Shower pressure not great. Was a double shower.. might be better with all if the water coming out of one. The biggest disappointment was breakfast. There are signs up saying it is £20pp and you are only allowed 2 hot drinks. There were no pastries or anything like that. Just cooked breakfast or cereal. The scrambled eggs were very watery. Based on breakfast alone I probably wouldn't stay here again as I know I could have a much better one in pretty much any other hotel.

clean and comfy but £15 for breakfast a bit steep

Room was small and breakfast was overpriced. There was a menu for dinner at their restaurant in the elevator but the restaurant wasn’t open for dinner so it should be removed. It was misleading.

Stayed here for 2 nights whilst going to see the Cure at the Ovo Hydro. Could not fault the hotel at all. Staff were really friendly, rooms were comfortable and clean with lots of milks for the tea and coffee! The breakfast was excellent with friendly and helpful staff and it was excellent value for money! Will definitely stay again when I'm next in Glasgow.

Liked everything but thought the breakfast was very expensive.

We stayed in a nice triple room with comfortable beds and nice and clean bathroom. Breakfast was nice too. Easy to find parking in the street, and pubs/restaurant close by.
