Hampton Inn Cedar Falls Downtown

A/C would not get colder than 74....they gave us a fan.... $15 parking fee is ridiculous.

We ahve stayed at this hotel before. The only disappointment this time was the condition of the bathroom and the floor tiles in particular. There were some significant stains that were kind of disgusting to see when we were in the bathroom. We brought it to the attention of the hotel staff and to their credit they did go into the bathroom. However, they said the stains are permanent and could not be removed. They offered to move us to another room but we did not take the offer since we were only there one night and not returning to the room until late in the evening. I believe the hotel should find a way to remove the tiles and replace or get professional tile cleaners to come and get rid of the stains. The only other surprise on this visit was being charged $15 for parking. We never paid that in the past and we never are charged for parking in hotels similar in brand to Hampton in Iowa City or Madison, Wisconsin etc. We travel a lot and stay in many hotels across the country similar in caliber to Hampton and we never pay for parking. Only in downtown Chicago or Minneapolis are we charged for hotel parking.

Conveniently located near social district and easily walkable to bars and restaurants and the river. I noticed several areas of ceiling water damage and other more worn looking/missing wallpaper in the hotel however our room was clean and bathroom/shower nice. Pillows could be much better though and didn’t appreciate the required $15 fee for parking when they didn’t even ask if we had a car.

Staff wonderful and hotel clean… although one elevator not running so we used the steps alot!!

Has a small pool and no hot tub. Breakfast was good and what you'd expect for continental breakfast. Hotel was clean and neat and right on the river.

The water in the swimming pool was too cold preventing us from using it. The sliding door between the closet and bathroom was inconvenient and not a good idea. We were surprised to lear than parking at the hotel was not free. We learned of it when we arrived home from our on-line bank account.

We have stayed at this hotel numerous times. This time we had to pay $14 to park in the hotels parking lot. Ridiculous

Room was adequate - only thing I didn’t like was the barn door on the bathroom door. I’ll never understand this design decision for hotel bathrooms. Pool was on the small side- even for a hotel, no hot tub. Area around the pool was also small, not a lot of room to avoid the splashing kids. Area was nice, lots of restaurants and bars, so location was great. Staff was friendly and attentive.

Waited a bit to check in. The woman at the front was friendly and helpful. I feel like dogs were welcome not just tolerated. Plenty of spots for my dog to relieve himself with bags and garbage. The hotel location was perfect for our trip. We walked to where we wanted to go. There was a street festival going on Saturday evening and it was so much fun. The room was very nice. We liked the high ceilings and the bathroom. Also the plugs by the bed. The shower was amazing. The bathroom was bright and well lit. My partner thought the bed was too hard. Another thing is that our frig didn’t seem very cold. It was my fault for not calling down to mention it. We chose your hotel mainly because we heard it was a good breakfast. I didn’t mind it because I like oatmeal and waffles but my partner was disappointed in the meat (he wasn’t even sure what kind it was) and the eggs (with the peppers) We ended up going out for breakfast the second morning. Did we pay for parking? I thought there was free parking but when we got there it was $15. Was that per night? I’ll have to look at the bill more closely. It was weird to be charged because anyone could just go in the lot to park. That’s about it. Overall a good stay and a great weekend.

The Hampton Inn was very nice and all of the employees were friendly. I was disappointed to find 2 medium length black hairs in the back of the shower when I showered in the morning. Neither my husband or I have black hair. It was lightly snowing on Saturday, the hotel did not keep up with clearing the snow on the sidewalks at the south entrance. One of the perks of choosing this hotel was its location to the downtown. Not staying on top of the snow removal on Saturday made it unsafe to come and go to the main street of town. Everything was cleared and safe Sunday morning.

Room was very dirty. Spots all over the room floor. Curtain was broke and pulled off of wall.

Air conditioning did not work properly, very humid in room. Looked like fresh blood/ vomit stains on floor that we asked to be cleaned but didn’t get done. Also stains on bed covering and we took it down to get a new one. Beds not made on our second day. Definitely overpriced for what it has become.

It was overpriced and not clean at all. When we checked in housekeeping had to come back to clean the restroom because they it was not cleaned at all. Our room wasn't even vacuumed.

The room was spotless and the bed and pillows were comfy

Staff not very welcoming. I thought I was in an old La Quinta or Motel 6. Very expensive hotel not to the standards of a Hampton Inn. Breakfast quality was low. Elevator floors all cracked and unswepted. Coffee or other stains on bed skirts. Comfortable beds. Just not worth $200 a night. Not clean.

When I checked into the room there was wax that had spilled on the carpet in about ten different spots. It looked as if they tried to clean two spots and since it didn't clean very well they didn't bother cleaning the other spots. Talked to front desk and they said they knew about it. So they just left it there on floor to rent to someone else. Called manage and have left messages asking for him to call and no return call. Other than that be disgusting. The rest of the hotel was ok. Just upset that they can confront me and make it right for the customer.

Disappointed my room specifically the bathroom was not very clean. Otherwise nice stay.

Great location and incredibly nice staff. Hotel had gnats in the rooms and spiders crawling in the shower. If it wasn’t for the bugs we would have no complaints.

I was sent to a room and the air didn’t work. They came and looked and moved me to a different room after 11:00pm. The next room was the opposite, the thermostat was set at 72 but in the morning it was 60. The ac would not shut off. When asked how my stay was I told them and they acted like it wasn’t a big deal. I would not recommend this hotel!

We had a great stay while in town for a wrestling tournament. Employees were excellent. We had a suite which was a great space for our family of 4. Pool was warm, breakfast was excellent, kids loved the waffles. We had an issue with Hotels.com moving our reservation date (they confirmed they did but it wasn't confirmed at the hotel), but the hotel took care of it no issues.

Overall, the hotel and staff were wonderful. The air conditioner is our only complaint. It was set to 62, but never came close to reaching that. It was blazing hot outside and a felt like a humid 70 in our room.

Clean spotless room. Very comfortable bed. Clean bathroom. Love the dual shower head to have the option for hand held. We loved the patio area off our room. We slept in so did not eat breakfast. We loved the noon checkout time as most hotels have checkout at 11am.

Location was good being about to walk to the downtown shoppes. What I didn’t like was the bed and the chairs in the room. The bed was stiff like sleeping on a piece of plywood causing sleeping to be restless and getting up sore and stiff. The chairs in the room were not very comfortable either making it very difficult to relax at all. I would not return for another stay.

We could not control the temp in our room. Front desk said it was a known issue and had to manually adjust for us. In the middle of the night the temp went so high we had trouble sleeping.

Towel bar on shower door fell off. bedside lamp would not work. way too dark in the room with only 2 lamps working. breakfast sausage patty was cold. egg veggie omelette barely warm. FIRE alarm went off at 8am. A terrible stay!

Awesome view of the river and downtown dining establishments. Close to everything and very convenient.

It was clean but we stayed in room 309 and the tub was rusty with chips in it and the shower was kind of hard to figure out. Hot was on the wrong side and if you turned knob too far it would shut off and hardly any water pressure.

Nice room that looked to be newly remodeled but there were flaws. I did like the welcome on the TV and the view was very nice. The mirror in the bathroom was not attached to the wall, it was sitting on the ledge above the sink. The hardware to hang it was on the wall. The adjustable curtains were sheer and the blackout curtains were not able to be closed, they were only for looks apparently. The bathroom door would not close more than halfway.

Perfect room. Tons of counter space in the bathroom (loved the ledge above the sink), great water pressure. Comfy bed and pillows. The location was great, right next to the river walk park, across the bridge from a creamery, tons of places to eat in the quaint little downtown. Hurts Donut too just a couple blocks. Good coffee place right across the street. Ice water in the lobby & cookies were a nice touch. The staff, WOW, especially Kimberly, were so helpful & kind. I always check reviews before booking so I’d like to point out that I had no issues with the parking, it was 15 dollars for the whole stay (not each night). Internet was strong, and the air conditioning was perfect in our room.

This is the second time I have stayed here and had to deal with an alarm go off and then not fixing the issue. First my reservation was for two queens and I was given a room with a kind and pull out. We made that work but when we had the alarm issue they tried to move us to a room with one king which would not work. The front desk was rude and did nothing to help. For over 250 a night I expected more. I will not be back. Very disappointing as I have always stayed at a Hilton if I can. They did not offer any compensation for the inconvenience.

The key system was not working. Every time I wanted in my room I had to ask hotel staff to let me in. This was frustrating and little was done to compensate me. I was surprised there was no discount. Staff was very friendly and kind, but the problem had been going on for several days is my understanding. Very poor management.

Good location, front desk employee was awesome (didnt get name)! Had issue with loud beeping coming from roon next to us but was taken care of promptly.

Staff was awesome upon check in, only issue was that the first night we were woke up 3 times after 00:30 hours for three false fire alarms, management did not offer any explanation or offer any compensation for having to evacuate the room with each false alarm.

The hotel property is great. The problem here was the safety and security on the property. We stayed at the property July 19-20 during significant worldwide technology issues. There were NO room keys available and hotel staff had to let people into their rooms every single time that we left the room. This resulted in significant delays as the hotel was near full and there was a great need for assistance in getting into the rooms. There was ONE person on staff for much of our stay--this person was not only responsible for regular front desk duties but also escorting each patron to their rooms/gym/pool/etc. The hotel couldd have had additional staff there to assist and reduce the wait for patrons but did not. The much bigger problem was that there did not appear to be any security protocol. I was asked to provide an ID at check in but was not asked to even provided a name ANY of the times that hotel staff let me into my room. They did not ask for a list of names of peopel who were in my room to know who was authorized in the room. The hotel staff would simply ride the elevator with patrons and ask what room they were staying in. They would then OPEN THE DOOR and let them in. There was NO method for confirming that they were actually being let into THEIR room. This is a SERIOUS risk for both the safety of our property and for the safety of the inviduals staying at the hotel. I was appalled at the lack of security and that fact that no steps to taken to ensure safety.

Kim at the front desk was so friendly & accommodating. I needed to plug-in my elec. bike and she made it easy. Would highly recommend.

Very nice hotel in a convenient area. Easy to get to and easy parking. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok. We were on the 4th floor facing the street and sometimes the street noise was quite loud. But not so bad that it disturbed our sleep or anything.

The property is right by downtown. Walking distance to the best bars and dining

We were visiting the University of Northern Iowa for us this was great because the downtown area was full of restaurants & shops from the hotel. Nice walking paths around the hotel-definitely would stay here again.

For the price they charged, the breakfast offered was not good. Bananas overly ripe, powdered eggs were horrible. They would do better to lower the price of the room and not offer breakfast.
