Hyatt Place Houston Downtown

Enjoyed it. Great room comfortable bed, great bar on 16th floor with amazing view of downtown. Came for the marathon and it was only a ten minute walk to start line, the convention center and Minute Maid Park.

It was my first time visiting Houston. The building is older, but they do have modern touches like a Starbuck coffee available in the lobby and a peloton bike in the gym. The menu for happy hour had nice options and the front desk had a great referral for nail salon in the area. Only drawback I would say is that house keeping is every other day unless you ask.

The hotel was nice but the bartender was very rude. The hours at the bar showed open until 10pm, however, we walked up to the bar at 9:50pm to grab one cold drink to take back to our room after walking back to hotel from attending an Astros game and were told last call was at 9:45pm. There were still many people sitting at the bar and our room was on the 16th floor next to the bar. The bartender didn’t greet us at all and just waved his hand at his throat like the cut off sign when we walked up. I said I thought y'all were open until 10pm and he said last call is 9:45pm. Wasn’t friendly, did not offer an exception as we weren’t trying to sit at the bar even though there were still many people there with full drinks. We left the hotel and walked to another bar to get ONE drink since we could not get one at the hotel bar even though it was not 10pm.

Hotel was nice, but the $43 for valet parking or $30 for self parking wasn't so nice.

Only thing I would say is this hotel needs to have electric car charging stations if parking your car with Valet. What’s the point.

Only thing missing was a pool. Other than that it was perfect.

Everything was great, but I thought the parking was expensive. If you park through the hotel, it's $50 plus tax, but you have the option of parking for $15 a day at the San Jacinto parking garage, which is very convenient and located on the opposite corner from the hotel. The only downside is that you can't use your car, but everything is within walking distance.

This was an excellent choice of hotel for our stay after a cruise from Galveston prior to flying home to the UK. Very clean, quiet and great facilities such as self service laundry. Great neighbourhood. Would stay again for sure.

Great hotel, not a lot of seating for breakfast and no one refilled breakfast items when they were empty (coffee, beverages). Valet was overpriced considering we could see the car from the hotel. Valet was $59.00 self parking was $20.00, no advertisement for self parking.

We were looking for an affordable hotel close to Daikin park to see the Savannah Bananas. The hotel was beautiful and clean, the service was excellent, and the location was perfect. It was an easy short walk to the park. We parked in the public parking garage attached to the hotel, and it was $20 for 24 hours. Since we were walking to the game, we saved a ton on parking! We will definitely stay here again when in the area. We checked out early, so we didn’t get to eat the continental breakfast, but it was nice to have it included.

The carpets were dirty. The bathrooms were a bit dirty.

Rooms were not ready at check in time, when we finally got our room an hour and half later there was vomit on the wall near our bed. The staff quickly got us a new room. No comps offered.

Room was very clean. Free breakfast was excellent! Exceptional hotel.

Room had not been cleaned, nor new sheets and towels. Had to ask for them. Never got cleaned and we were there 2 days. $700 is a lot to pay for not getting room cleaned and no new items. We were told $150 for amenities. I feel we should be reimbursed.

Clean and spacious rooms!

The air conditioning was very loud. The rooms were very large and clean.

Awesome location, clean rooms but thin walls. I definitely would recommend staying. Colin at the front desk was very friendly.

It was a great stay. The room was spacious and clean. The lobby and breakfast area was clean and the employees so nice. The only negative thing I can say is that at booking you are led to believe if I pay more for an upper floor I would get a view of the city. On the contrary the hotel only has city views for single king size bed rooms. I paid extra for an upper level room and got the 11th floor with views of brick walls and air conditioners. I would have not paid extra if I had known. Other than that I would book another stay here. It is walking distance to the Toyota Center.

The room was clean and the facility was generally in good condition, however I thought the AC in my room was a little too loud.

The rooms were very big

Very friendly staff. The room setup was a little odd. We had 2 beds and a pull out couch. The TV was right in the middle of the room separating the beds and couch. Just a little odd. But overall it was a nice hotel.

While we were never really uncomfortable, the only difficulty we had was that we were unable to cool the room down. No matter how it was set, the thermostat kept the room at 74 degrees and higher.

This is a really nice place to stay. The only problem was the loud noise around 3:30 am sounded like dumpsters being serviced!

Large clean rooms

I didn’t appreciate my room number being announced loudly in a packed lobby by the person checking in me and my two daughters. They definitely need better staff training on customer safety!

The hotel its self was all in all good friendly staff. The management not so much. Our car got broken in to on the first night there in valet parking. And they did nothing to try to help the situation. Or make it easier for us. Very disappointed.

Friendly staff, nice downtown location. Love that there is a microwave down in the dining area for guests to use.

The entire hotel stay and staff were excellent in every way. Super clean, plenty of towels and bedding, great shower with grab bar. Comfy bed and sofa. Great food with many choices. Every staff we encountered were super friendly, helpful and kind! We had no complaints whatsoever. And definitely plan to stay there again. We were especially grateful for Nay, Mandy, Analleli, Elena, James, Destiney, Monsouir, Simon, George, and many others!

I arrived At the hotel just passed midnight. Flight was delayed and was absolutely exhausted. This was a Sunday night, so no one was even in the lobby. Just one female worker. When I arrived I said hello, she was on the phone and told me to wait and clearly was not happy I was there. All I wanted Was keys to my room that I have Already paid for. I had To be up in less than 5 hours for work. She was not on the phone with a guest, she was on the phone with the hotel IT support to try and get her phone authenticated. Which she could have put on hold. After waiting approximately 20 minutes for her. She put the phone on hold and just disappeared. When she showed back up I politely and very gently asked “is it going to be much longer? I’m just really exhaust…” and before I could Even finish my sentence she snapped at me and said “what do you think I was Doing. I went to get someone to help you. Chill” the manager came around and was a lot more friendly and did offer me a free beverage or snack for the wait. But she also looked like she had been sleeping or something. It was very bizarre and not really appropriate or professional. The room was fine. Location was fine, just a bit dodgy at times but that’s downtown Houston I guess. I just Wouldn’t rely on the staff as most of them are extremely rude and have serious attitude for absolutely no reason.

This hotel in centrally located. You can walk to Minute Maid Park in 10 min. You can also take the bus from the IAH airport to this hotel. The bus stop is a few blocks away. Clean hotel with elegant bathroom. Free continental breakfast. I would book this hotel again

The property was clean and well situated. Discovery Green is walking distance and the staff was friendly and helpful. The only downside was that people were outside yelling and cackling up until about 2am. Aside from that, we enjoyed our stay. We will return and maybe get a room in the back now. The city view that we paid for wasn't worth the noise.

I had a wonderful stay at this location. The room was extremely clean and very pretty. I felt very comfortable here. The location was cool because you can walk to bars and restaurants. But please be aware that it is downtown. And you can imagine the things that come with that.

The location from everything downtown was fantastic

Property was very centrally located. What was horrible was the everyday trash pick up at 2am that would last a whole hour of slamming noises loud talking and metal screeching. Hotel was clean and sanitary.

The downtown area of Houston this hotel is in is terrible. Homeless people are everywhere. Cannot go out after dark. Walking to get food is awful. Streets smell like human excrement. Homeless beg for food, follow you, etc. the shake shack up the street has an armed security guard. I was scared to leave the hotel.

Perfect location. Easy walk to Daikin field. Affordable parking one block away

Be aware of which Hyatt you’re booking as there is a Hyatt Regency less than 2 miles away. If a pool and onsite airport shuttle is important to you then don’t book here. Also, during breakfast food, glassware and seating was unavailable prior to breakfast ending. I chose this location primarily for breakfast and it was a huge disappointment. Sadly I would not book here again.

Such an excellent choice for our trip to see the Houston Astros. Parking was a breeze (though a bit pricey for valet of $52) and valet staff were helpful with luggage. Our room was spotless, bed was comfortable and all was very quiet. We walked to the Astro game which was an easy 6 blocks. Breakfast offered a wide assortment of favorites: cereal, fruit, bacon, eggs, muffins and more. My only improvement would be to open it until 9:30 as lines were long between 8:30 - 9:00 on weekdays. I would definitely stay here again.

Everything was great! Excellent Hot Breakfast Buffet! Highly recommend for business or pleasure trips.

Excellent breakfast

If you are here for business it might be ok...we were here for a ballgame, the bar closed early so a nightcap after the game was not an option. Breakfast also ends at 9am, which works ok on a business trip but not so friendly for those of us there on vacation needing a little later breakfast times.

Close to Minute Maid park. Nice room. The all you can eat buffet breakfast (one of the reasons we chose this hotel) was a joke. The options were minimal and they ran out of food. The valet parking is 43$ a day with in and out privileges.

Attended Astros game. Hotel is conveniently located, walking distance. Really love the free breakfast on site. Visiting with other occupants, stated day before they had gone off site for breakfast but it wasnt nearly as good as Hyatt's.
