The in-place security measures did a lot to ease anxiety. There were attendant(s) at the door; and, you had to use room key to operate the elevator. I felt very safe! The roof-top deck was an added surprise. It afforded us a place to relax, meet other guest, sip our beverages (coffee and tea provided); also the view of the surrounding area was fantastic! The property is conveniently located and we were able to walk to restaurants, shops, the park, and the Convention Center. The airport is about 4 miles away! My husband and I enjoyed our stay; and, the staff was phenomonal! We highly recommend the Gaslamp Plaza Suites; and, we plan to stay there for future trips to San Diego!

This hotel was in a great location with good safety measures. It's a 0.7 mile walk to the convention center (downhill) and close to many good restaurants. They have a rooftop seating area that has amazing views. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel itself is very beautiful inside with its eurocentric design. It is very clean. The front desk was very welcoming upon arrival. Valet parking is a little steep, costing $45 with in and out services but there is no cheap parking available in this area. This hotel has a rooftop terrace where you can sit and get great views of the city.

Great location! Valet parking available I’ll recommend tip at arrival so they treat your care more careful, I have a big truck had a minimal scratch when I pick up. Not a big deal but still hurts.

First of all, the staff was incredibly kind and filled with great recommendations. Many things in my room were dirty, but nothing absolutely disgusting. Mostly walls and doors being dirty. Parking is insanely expensive, so prepare for that. Valet is somehow $20 cheaper than self parking in the lot for the night. I wish it was complimentary when you're staying there. But the building is beautiful and historical with a gorgeous rooftop terrace. I would definitely stay again.

We found bed bugs in this room. We noticed we carried them right after checking out. The staff is gentle and nice. However, rooms are very old and look dirty. Do not stay in this building. Besides, the E St, where this building is located at, there are many homeless people passing by.

Upon arrival staff was extremely friendly. Let me know of my parking options and checked us in without any hassle. Room was extremely clean. We did not need to take any Ubers for the night since this hotel was located walking distance from Gaslamp downtown. They have a beautiful rooftop area and the hotel was very quiet and spacious for an overnight stay. God sent that they have a little wet bar with a wine opener and glasses (since I came unprepared) I would stay here again!

Found a mouse in my first room, let the hotel staff know and they came up to look and found a whole where he could’ve ran on the upper trim in the room, i was moved rooms and given a room with non full door, there was about a 2in gap from the bottom of the door and floor

Stayed here for the Chris Stapleton Concert, I liked how it was walking distance to Petco Park & we felt safe walking to and from the stadium. Upon checking in they give you a little history of the hotel with it being the oldest hotel in the area and you can definitely tell. The lobby had a lot of dust build up and the rooms could use a nice deep cleaning however the staff was very nice and I like how they lock the front doors at 5pm so only guests can go in and out. They do have a cocktail lounge in the basement that turns into a night club at 10pm that would be great for those who want some night life but don’t want to leave the hotel. This is a great location for those who love the bar life, they have lots of bars and restaurants right down the road. My only other complaint is there’s no vending machine so if you want any drinks or snacks you have to go to the 7/11 a few blocks away & it does get pretty loud at night since it’s in the heart of the Gaslamp District.

Nice property, well kept and good staff. But NOISY! It sits right on top of Gaslamp and the walls/windows don’t block noise at all. If you’re there on a weekend it’s going to be sirens, alarms, yelling and noise until 2AM.

Thought I was getting a deal when I was paying $280 for a one-night stay. While it was a deal indeed, the view was terrible. Just terrible. My window opened to the back of a fire escape. Felt like a NY apartment. Very compact

we were unaware that our room had NO Windows! clean room but oddly shaped. very small closet, nice bathroom, full size bed, but just odd there was no windows, and no warning our room had no windows. when we called the front desk they informed us they were all sold out and could not accommodate us with another room. nor offered any other compensation for NO communication that we'd be, what we gathered, our room was a converted broom closet before made into a room.

The bed was comfortable and had great cover for the full windows/sunlight. The top level terrace was an amazing view and staff was excellent. The noise from the street however, was so interruptive of sleep up until 1-2am consistently, it was not a place we can stay at and have early morning commitments and full/long days of plans.

Very friendly staff. Room was big and spacious. Has a microwave, fridge, and real plates/silverwares. Big bathroom and clean. Bed is not comfortable at all, spring mattress. That was my biggest cons. Toss and turn all night.

Do not use Valet. Use the public parking next door.They are beyond screwed up. One guy and 8 or 9 people waiting. Many people talked to manager who did nothing. Just sat there. Each car taking 20 minutes. Finally Myself and another customer yelled at the valet and 4 of us walked the couple blocks with the valet to get the car ourself!

The best thing about Gaslamp Plaza Suites is the staff. Everyone I met was warm, friendly and smiling. The hotel is beautiful, very well maintained, and my room was exceptionally clean, quiet, and well appointed. I am looking forward to my next visit in June.

My girlfriend and I stayed one night at Gaslamp Plaza Suites and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. In the middle of the night, we noticed water leaking from the bathroom ceiling, which soaked the floor. We reported it right away, and a staff member came up twice, brought towels, and advised us to turn off the AC. They also suggested the leak might have been caused by setting the AC too low — even though we only had it at 68°F, which is a normal temperature. This felt like an unfair attempt to place blame on us for what was clearly a maintenance issue. We asked if we could move rooms but were told that wasn’t possible due to the time of night. We then asked about compensation and were told to check with the front desk in the morning. When we did, we were met with a rude and dismissive response and were told there was nothing they could do — and that they were waiting for us to check out before inspecting the leak. We also paid a $100 security deposit at check-in that we were told would be refunded, but we have not received it yet. We reported the issue promptly and used the room normally, yet the customer service and follow-up were very poor. I hope management takes this seriously and improves how they handle situations like this.

The valet guy was really nice but misinformed me where to park and gave me a pass to put on my dash. It seems he honestly just didn’t know so it was not his fault. I got a ticket and let the desk know and the lady basically said that the valet service is a third party and she will pass the feedback but she couldn’t do anything and I was lucky my car wasn’t towed. I get that it was a third party but they are representatives of the hotel and she did not seem to care about my situation. The stay was great but the interaction with her rubbed me the wrong way. I just left and paid my ticket.

With just the service alone, I'd rate this place 5 stars! The front desk person on our arrival had the most positive, infectous, energetic that made our long drive worth it! She allowed us to check i early and gave us a nice room upgrade. From then on our daily experiences were perfect and amazing! The room was spacious and very nice. Beds were great and sleep friendly. The kids had their own space separate and had dual bathrooms. Parking was easy and accessible with a very reasonable daily price. Right near 4th and 5th street on gaslamp made it easy to go around and stroll downtown. Rooms werent noisy at all and could barely hear other rooms which made it even better! Again the staff made our stay the best on a long list of other places we have stayed and will be back soon!

Mary and the entire front desk were very welcoming and friendly! The hotel has a vast history and a really cool vide to it. The rooms were very clean and bed was comfortable. I felt safe which is very important to me since I was traveling alone. I would come back her to stay with my children and recommend this hotel to anyone! Thank you staff at Gaslamp Plaza Suites! See you again soon!
Mary and the entire front desk were very welcoming and friendly! The hotel has a vast history and a really cool vide to it. The rooms were very clean and bed was comfortable. I felt safe which is very important to me since I was traveling alone. I would come back her to stay with my children and recommend this hotel to anyone! Thank you staff at Gaslamp Plaza Suites! Property is really neat. I was there on a Sunday and Monday night. Sunday was really loud cars racing and people yelling. Monday was quiet. You are downtown so there are some homeless and strange folks walking around.

Shops were nearby. However it’s downtown which is bad for a could reasons. Transients were everywhere, and downtown is filthy. We did walk to a few places nearby, but it was irritating to be hassled everywhere we went. It was a nice old hotel, I love the history. But old buildings were not build for noise reduction, and between the clubs, fights, police, sirens, it was LOUD all night.

Close to plenty of bars, restaurants and walking distance to Petco Park, in the heart of the Gaslamp District. Front desk staff was kind and made check-in easy. The room was spacious and comfortable. The building itself is very unique with its own history, do yourself a favor and look it up. I will stay here again.

The staff were all very friendly and responsive. The location was perfect for exploring the Gas Lamp District and beyond. Walkable to the harbor and tons of restaurants. We also enjoyed the rooftop. I highly recommend staying here and will return.

We had a wonderful stay at the Plaza Suites in the Gas Lamp area of San Diego. The hotel’s location is excellent. It was a quick walk to Petco Park to watch a game and close to so many great bars and restaurants. Our room was super clean and spacious. My wife and I enjoyed our stay.

This is an older hotel but very nicely refurbished. My room is clean & comfortable. The staff has been helpful & friendly. My only complaint is that there isn’t a casual coffee shop in-house. The bar does serve sandwiches & “small bites” but it doesn’t open until 5p.m. This hotel is in a busy downtown area so it’s noisy. I’m glad I brought a white noise machine.

The hotel was perfect, and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The location was great for going out on the town. The only down sides were that the hotel had a beautiful roof top with great views, but there were no food or beverage service. It would have been nice to be able to go up and have a glass of wine and enjoy the views right from our hotel, but we couldn’t even find a place to buy a bottle of wine to take back ourselves. Also, the nightlife noise was very loud when trying to sleep. This is no knock on the hotel. You can’t have both great location to the activity, but have none of the noise, but just be aware that if you are a light sleeper, this may not be the spot of you. Having said that - we would stay there again.

Stayed here for the Chris Stapleton Concert, I liked how it was walking distance to Petco Park & we felt safe walking to and from the stadium. Upon checking in they give you a little history of the hotel with it being the oldest hotel in the area and you can definitely tell. The lobby had a lot of dust build up and the rooms could use a nice deep cleaning however the staff was very nice and I like how they lock the front doors at 5pm so only guests can go in and out. They do have a cocktail lounge in the basement that turns into a night club at 10pm that would be great for those who want some night life but don’t want to leave the hotel. This is a great location for those who love the bar life, they have lots of bars and restaurants right down the road. My only other complaint is there’s no vending machine so if you want any drinks or snacks you have to go to the 7/11 a few blocks away & it does get pretty loud at night since it’s in the heart of the Gaslamp District.
