Playa Esperanza Tulum

The property is average, they shutdown the electricity twice day for a few minutes, at night some bugs get it to the room, they promise to bring sodas and ice to the room, but if you do no ask for them, they do not provide these, the hotel is located in the Jaguar park, if you go out of the area, you have to pay 3 dollar per person/day to re enter to the hotel/park, very bureaucratic process.

This is not a typical hotel experience. First you are on the beach there are no concrete walkways around the property its all sand to stay with the natural part of being in the national park. Its very quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Things to note: You do have to pay a small fee to enter the national park that fee is not part of the booking fee. I think it was 120 pesos aday The hotel is nothooked he power grid so they run off a generator. It shuts off for an hour every day. Which means the wifi also goes off. Not all the rooms have ac. The ones that do only run from 6pm to 830ish am. They turn off and on by themselves. The rooms are all different and are separate little casitas essentially. They do not have tvs. There is a restuarant/ bar on site but its only open from around 10am to 530pm. The good news is there is a really good restaurant/ bar called cinco one place over walking on the beach thats open till 10pm. There are carts that will take you around the national park to the different sites. This is included in the park fee. Short walk down the beach is a few different snorkeling places. We haggled the price and got a private boat for about $30 usd for 2 ppl. The staff is all very nice and the rooms were clean. And of the exterior parts are worn but it's on the beach so to be expected. The pool is really for relaxing not going to be doing laps in it. Overall nice but dont expect the typical hotel style. But for a relaxing get away its a good place.

Omg the STAFF!! I mean just NICE GOOD humans. It was so pleasant being there I almost forgot real life stuff. Here are my mistakes and how the hotel went out of their way to help me: My flight was rerouted, so in WhatsApp, Raquel immediately took the initiative to change transportation FOR ME. Saved me so much stress and money because I was in the air to a different airport. I needed medical attention and immediately, Satu and Raquel got a Doctor to the property fast. (PS if you have to do this, plan to pay at least US$500). Everyone felt safe and comfortable. Ivan called me by name. Friendly. Kind. Down-to-earth. My kind of place. Things that are NOT the hotel’s fault if you can’t read. But we don’t know what we don’t know. The place is rustic AF. AMAZING but rustic. If it bothers you, if an ant crawls over your toe while you’re taking a poop or a chameleon maybe runs through your cabin, this is not the place for you. Get cash and some food BEFORE going through the national protected entryway. No ATM & Esperanza’s kitchen is closed by 5:30. Bring a good water bottle cause you’re pumping your own here. And you won’t know until you go through the national forest entryway the first time...they take all plastic (water too). You’ll be charged $40 to get in and out ONCE a day. Wear the brown bracelet!! I brought a USB cable for my phone, but not a brick. The electricity in the cabins is very Slight so prepare at home.

Playa Esperanza is the perfect place to unwind, it’s super ideal for a couples getaway or honeymoon. All the staff is super nice and helpful. The only downside for me, it’s that not all of their rooms have AC, they’re an eco friendly hotel and there is no fridge, iron or hair dryer, and they shut the power for a couple of hours as they are running on generators. But I love that they care about the environment!

Expedia must have had the wrong image for this booking (I booked a cabin with a centered bed looking out to the ocean). Upon arrival I was offered a cabin behind the reception desk/next to the restaurant. The staff offered me a room with a sea view but it was again, very much not what I thought I was getting. I am only in town a few days and this truly broke my spirit a bit. I also didn’t realize upon booking that the hotel was in the reserve which requires a $25 usd fee to enter. This was my first time using Expedia for a booking and I don’t think I ever will again. The staff was sweet, though the one receptionist was clearly annoyed with me, but he did try and be helpful. If you’re booking also keep in mind that checkin is at 3pm & the bar/restaurant closes at 5pm.

The beach is right at the hotel and it’s amazing! The cottages are simple but equipped with everything you need. The restaurant closes at 6pm - however there is a place nearby where you can get delicious Thai food. Also the staff is very friendly and welcoming. If you want to leave the area (nature park) it’s quite a trip to Tulum - so we’d recommend a rental car as taxis are expensive in that area. You have to pay the park entrance fee which is 60 pesos per person per day.

Attention, les cabanes sont assez petites, et dès que l'on est un peu grand, on doit pas mal se courber. Les cabanes à l'étage offrent une vue imbattable sur la mer, l'horizon, et le lever du soleil.

Being charged $20 to enter the national park for an over $200 a night reservation seems silly. Property is rustic and charming if you love outdoor showers and the sort, ocean front is amazing. Staff we very helpful. Surprised that at this price point hot water was only available during certain hours.

Extremely poor standard of the room. Room was dirty and not properly cleaned upon arrival nor during the days we stayed there. Poor service from the staff. Spiders and animals in the room. Holes in the furniture. Overall my worst experience from any hotel so we decided to check out early and find a new place to stay. Not worth the money you are paying. The location is absolutely amazing right at a magical beach. But there others hotel in the area, choose them instead! Just be aware that it’s a very quiet place and all restaurants close early.

First of all, the beach at the property is amazing. That was the main reason we chose the hotel. Additionally the staff that provided breakfasts, coffee and drinks were wonderful. The office staff too. The hotel is VERY bare minimum. The rooms are very small with a comfortable bed covered in mosquito netting. We would have liked an additional chair (there was one) or a sofa so we could relax in our room. The bathroom was minimalist to say the least. We did enjoy hot water in the shower and plenty of water pressure. The lights strained and flickered during the day, but we were out mostly, so no big deal. It would have been nice to have daily or every other day towel changes and bedding changes. Due to the humidity, the towels never dried. The worst thing we experienced was infant mice dropping onto the mosquito net the first night!!!!! That and a variety of insects in the room, including cockroaches as well as a couple of scorpions. We stayed 8 nights which was too long. I'd say this is an excellent place to relax for 3 or 4 nights. Finally, the entrance fees to the park....and hotel are crazy expensive. It would be nice if the hotel worked out a deal with the park to discount them.

It’s very rustic, barely staffed, rooms feel old, our door had a gap, and mosquitos roam free. The place has charm but it’s tired. Staff were hit or miss. We met one super nice guy and one who couldn’t care less. Food at the restaurant wasn’t good. Plenty of better options nearby. Come for the view, not the comfort.

Loved the rustic feel of this propety. Was kept clean and look was very refreshing . Lock on our door didn’t work and could not used water a bit earlier in the morning . Other than that …it isn’t it is Very different start and I would recommend to anyone looking for something a bit different . Don’t go if you expect all the amenities right when you want them . Essa informação só aparece após a compra e em letras pequenas, o que pode pegar os hóspedes de surpresa. Clean room and had an amazing view

First I’d like to say that the staff was VERY nice, friendly , and accommodating. We felt welcomed and our requests were met. I will say if you’re looking for a true outdoorsy experience with nature, then this is the place. We stayed in the Celia Cruz room and it was interesting to say the least. The room was prettt small especially with our luggage but the view and distance to ocean was worth it! Each day we were welcomed with a surprise “poop” on the floor and during our first stay, the toilet stopped working, so as mentioned it was an interesting stay but we made the best of it for 4 days. One thing that isnt mentioned and caught us by surprise is that ou do have to pay to enter the hotel zone because the hotel is on a national park. The fee is $3 daily (if you leave the area) otherwise you pay one time and they give you a wristband. For convenience RENT A CAR we learned the hard way and walked every where or took a taxi which can quickly add up. Having a car makes it easier for you to visit the centre and other nearby places because the taxi prices are pretty high. All in all I’d rate my experience a 7 out of 10 for the reason. The best part aside from the views, would be the restaurants!! Soooo many delicious options to choose from! If you’re still reading and wondering if you should go, go for it! It’s the perfect place to reset your mind

Room was very basic, with mosquito net that had gaps, and whose rigging divided the room in such a way that it was a hazard. Door didn't lock well, and windows didn't open well. Outdoor bathroom not my taste.

The area is lovely. The beach is wonderful. The room was a bit depressing for me and didn’t have AC. If I had a room with AC I would have stayed but unfortunately had to leave early. The staff is very nice.

My husband and I had such a unique and wonderful experience here. Yes, our room had no TV or AC, yet it was exactly what we needed - pure peace and relaxation. We booked the ground floor sea front room so we had the beach just steps away. The sound of the waves were soothing and waking up to the sunrise right in front of your room was priceless. We didn't wear shoes once while there since there are a bunch of restaurants within walking distance on the beach side - so we had no need to leave the hotel. We were even able to walk to the Tulum ruins from the beach.

This is the closet you can get to paradise. Fancy subtil rustic designer cananas by the sea. No other noise than waves, ocean wind and the perfect clean turquoise clear water.The staff give an excellent vibe to this five star eco resort. A divine place to be.

We stayed at the Maria Felix room and it has maybe the best view. The receptionist, staff, and servers were on top of it and know how to truly treat their customers.

A 2-3 star hotel. As basic as it gets - but wonderful to be right on the beach!

Staff was extremely helpful and attentive

Due to the Hurricane, we had to change hotels for the first night. We were told they would be closed on the first day but would accommodate the remainder of our trip. When we arrived, they were still without power. No one notified of this inconvenience. They offered to let us stay, but without electricity. Which meant it would be extremely hot, an abundance of mosquitos and no open restaurants. We had to scramble to find and book another hotel at the last minute. This inconvenience was not reimbursed (taxi, additional hotel, etc.). The lady at Esperanza was very apolegetic and really wanted us to stay, but the conditions were not suitable.

Recomiendo mucho el lugar la atención de todo el personal fue cálida y excelente Nos trataron muy bien a mi hijo y a mi Sin dudarlo regresaría 10 de 10 !!

Armen (Alberto) the front desk concierge, let me borrow his personal scooter to drop a friend off - talk about going above and beyond. The place is a paradise. Only thing is many restaurants and bars close early in this area.

Beautiful and quiet

Hôtel Playa Esperanza est un havé de paix une semaine à la Robinson. Notre chambre la Maria Félix avait un balcon dominant la mer avec une incroyable vue. Nous avons adoré marcher pieds nus partout! Le personnel de l’hôtel surtout à la réception est d’une super gentillesse. Le parc du jaguar par contre est une sorte de prison doré ! 415 pesos par personne pour y rentrer plus fouille du véhicule et à chaque passage 60 pesos par personne! Autour de l’hôtel seulement 2 restaurants et impossible de se faire livrer !

Very glad we chose this spot, it was a beautiful location, the staff was friendly and the beach was right outside our room.

a gorgeous place, on a paradisiacal beach in the middle of the jungle. The staff is very nice and friendly and Daniels is always ready to give you valuable advice and help you if you need it. The restaurants are excellent, very good cocktails and delicious dishes. The ruins of Tulum can be reached by a nice walk of about two kilometres along the beach. You can fall asleep with the sound of the sea. highly recommended
