Pros: - Hotel is close to the airport, about 22 mins. - Property was quiet and not crowded when we visited in October. - Staff are friendly and very helpful. - Pools are clean and not crowded - Very family friendly and has a kids club - The property is slowly showing its age but it is well-maintained. - I really enjoyed the food from the restaurants- Frank and Lola's Italian and the asian fusion restaurants, Taco house and beach house. The asian fusion could use more kid friendly menu. Cons: - The shower walls and floors has brown coloured tiles and small patterns which I found irritating. There was quite abit of brown grout in-between the tiles. I didn’t look forward to showering and I always wore bathroom slippers to shower. With the brown colour, its hard to tell how dirty the shower area is. - The tap water had a strong rotten smell coming from it. Not sure if this because of the hurricane season time of year. - The area rug in our room could use some deep cleaning or complete replacement. - Our rooms were never cleaned on time. The staff typically comes between 1-3pm and that usually falls within the nap time for our toddlers. We'd tell them to comeback in a couple of hours. Sometimes they did and other times they didn’t or forgot. - Food variety is limited, especially for the breakfast and room service menu. Overall, our stay was okay.

The staff were excellent—friendly, polite, and always helpful. The pools were clean, the drinks were well-made with popular brands, and the overall atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. Unser Aufenthalt im Margaritaville Resort Rivera Cancun war insgesamt sehr angenehm. Das Personal war stets zuvorkommend und sehr freundlich, was den Urlaub von Anfang an positiv gestaltet hat. Die Vielfalt an Restaurants ist ein großes Plus: Die Speisekarten sind abwechslungsreich und bieten für jeden Geschmack etwas. Für Veganer ist das Angebot zwar begrenzt, aber ein paar Gerichte konnten problemlos vegan zubereitet werden. Leider kam es gelegentlich vor, dass bestimmte Lebensmittel ausgingen und/oder nicht mehr verfügbar waren. In der zweiten Woche wurde das Buffet laut Rezeption aufgrund weniger Gäste etwas verkleinert, obwohl ich den Anschein hatte dass mehr Leute beim Frühstück waren. Speisen, die nicht mehr im Buffet vorhanden waren, konnten auf Wunsch nachbestellt werden. Das Housekeeping war besonders hervorzuheben – sehr gründlich, teilweise sogar zweimal täglich. Die kreativen Handtuch- und Bettdeckenfalttechniken haben den Aufenthalt zusätzlich versüßt. Das Fitnessstudio ist eher einfach ausgestattet, bietet aber das Wesentliche. Everything was great, only feedback add more water aerobics classes on the activity schedule (Angie & Tamara were fun for the glass & add a scavenger hunt activity, another group was doing this as an activity and it help people opened up for more fun. The food breakfast was great The taco bar food was not good The dinner at Asian location, sushi was great, the Italian dinner food was cold, had to request a warm up Enjoy the Spanish lessons, the greetings, everyone on staff was welcoming. Overall, great experience at location

We enjoyed our stay at Margaritaville! We really appreciated that the resort was smaller. We came in off season so it was not over crowded - hardly ever waited in a line!! Rita’s Taco Bar was so delicious - it was definitely their best restaurant. Aside from Rita’s we weren’t super impressed by the rest of the food options. They were good but not the wow factor you usually expect for vacation. We also wished there were more snack options - things that were easy to grab and take to the beach or have by the pool. They did have a smoothie bar which we really loved! The staff was overall friendly and the resort was extremely clean. I was very impressed by the rooms! We used their spa service and it was also really great!

This was a good all inclusive hotel right on the beach with lovely pools and landscaping. I was upgraded to a swim up room which was lovely. The hotel had a Mexican fiesta on the beach one night with dancers and musicians and I did the morning yoga. The restaurants are menu service for lunch and dinner. The only downside is the hotel is not near a town centre and has a very poor road to get to it. Overall I enjoyed my stay here!

This is small quiet resort. The room we had was absolutely terrific - large and extremely comfortable. There is a breakfast buffet, all other meals are restaurant style - it works. Lots of loungers. The beach is good - shallow for non-swimmers. Snorkeling is poor. Apparently, weekly beach meals/barbecue. The staff are friendly and helpful. As with most resorts, there is constant "music" playing throughout the property.

The pool is very dirty, most of the staff don’t speak English, there’s no buffet only three restaurants with very poor menu.I want change to another hotel and I spoke with the manager and Expedia, he was so rude. My husband get a Diarrhea from the food. This is a worst vacation I had ever.

It was our third time and it seems like they are cutting back. The carpet in our room could use a shampoo but the room was always clean. A bit of confusion we were told the point system for filling your mini bar from Joe Merchant was gone. Just go in everyday and get 2 beers, 2 sodas and 2 snack. Half way though our stay the staff started telling us how many points we had left. Also the pools were very cloudy and not too pleasant looking. Mid week this was rectified. The buffet breakfast is pretty sad choice wise. The food in the trays was often cold. Meals at the Ala carted were often too salty. I was disappointed, this is one of out favourite resorts but I’m not sure I would return. The last straw was no late check out and no where to have a quick shower if you flight is later in the day.

It was amazing!! The cleanest hotel we’ve been too in Cancun, this was our 3rd time going to Cancun. The food was also the best. The atmosphere is so calm. Right on the beach and more private than the hotel zone. The staff were great all over from front to the restaurants, the bars, just walking around. I would definitely come again!

We had an amazing time on our vacation at Margaritaville Cancun. The resort was incredibly clean. The rooms spacious and clean. The pools and bars and activities were a ton of fun. Our absolute favorite restaurant was Rita's Taco House!! Dinners were amazing at Frank and Lola's and the Latin Fusion restaurant. Fun dinners on the beach as well. Would go again in a hearbeat!

The place was average, tired decor but perfectly fine. Not 5 stars. Overwhelming disappointment was the stench of sewage all the time and the sea was unusable due to seaweed which is not the hotels fault and indeed they were trying hard to clear it.

This resort was AMAZING. From the views, to the kind staff, to the delicious food, we couldn't of asked for a better vacation. We stayed in an ocean view room, and the views were perfect and it was nice and quiet. We will definitely come back!

We were disappointed at what we received. Booked a swim up room which was very pricey and when we were showed to our room we realized we were on the second floor. Obviously not a swim up. Guy showing us to our room was overly confused at how we booked. Went back to reception where the staff were also confused. I had to explain multiple times that we distinctly booked a swim up. Showed our confirmation which said swim up. Mass confusion. After staring at the computer for 10 mins they agreed that we booked a swim up but were being upgraded. We said “No thank you, we only came here for the swim up”. More confusion before they told us that they had no swim up’s in the category we booked. All were full. Confusion about why we didn’t want the upgrade and time ticking away. Finally they “found” a swim up but it wasn’t what we booked and they claimed it was an upgraded swim up but without the king bed we distinctly booked however, they would change it for a king bed the next day. Also the room wasn’t ready yet? Finally got to the room after 5PM which was the whole afternoon gone. It definitely was not an upgrade and we never heard from them again about the king bed. Weird smell of mold or sewer outside our room. No sun at all on our balcony the entire stay and our pool was way colder than the other pools. The area we had booked was always in sun, warmer pool and obviously where the king beds were. Pretty disappointing.

The layout of the property was lovely. The rooms all had verandas which offered a beach view or a pool view. The rooms are decorated with beach themes. It is family friendly. The employees are very friendly, attentive and helpful. We enjoyed the smoothie bar and the various restaurants. Our favorite was the taco bar.

This was our first time at a Margaritaville property and were very excited. The resort itself was adorable and perfectly sized. The pools I wish were a bit bigger only because when they got crowded (especially with the groups with kids) it felt like you were on top of others. The 5o'clock somewhere pool is where the foam party was and it was VERY cloudy the rest of our visit after. SOS pool/bar was our favorite to hang out. It saw sun all day. Plenty of chairs at the pools and beach when we were there, did not have to wake up early to secure a seat. With there only being 3 places to get dinner, you expect the menu to be full, yet every place was always out of multiple things making your choices smaller. Rita's is by far the best food, we wish it was open for dinner as well. Room service menu was very small and not that great which is always disappointing. The room was amazingly huge and peaceful. We did experience a sulfur smell for 2 days during our trip when showering and outside on the patio, and talking to other guest it sounds like this is an on going issues with the rooms on that side of the resort. Check in and Check out was quick and easy. Beverage selection is one of the better we've seen from other resorts. We have stayed at Karisma owned resorts before and had very high expectations for this one as well and we were sadly let down.

This is a very nice smaller property that is reminiscent of old Florida Style. The rooms are cute and the patios and balconies have Adirondack chairs. Plenty of hammocks are spread throughout and there are several different pools to choose from. The laid back style truly delivers a "license to chill." Food and drinks are good but dining options are limited. They ran out of some items during the week so they didn't always have what you wanted to order. Music was good. As with so many eastern coast beaches in the Caribbean there was some sargassum but they work diligently to maintain the beach and remove the sargassum. We enjoyed our stay and are going home refreshed.

The property was safe, friendly and helpful. Lovely views and beach. Could use a few updates though in the room. We were in room 315 examples The reading light by the bed on the window side was not working. Also toilet was very loud. Also no directs on how to use the wand shower. Sliding door did not lock. Also table on deck and in side table was wobbly. Ceiling should be painted.

The resort, the staff, etc- they were WONDERFUL!! Cannot say enough about them. They went out of their way to see that you had everything that you needed. Rooms were very nice. (not much in the way of hot water for showers, luke warm if at all) The beach was very small but very pretty, the pools were very small and not "swimmable" more like hang out in as they were not deep or large. The hot tub/spa next to the pool was not heated so that was a bummer. But, overall, between the staff, the room, the balcony with a view, the adults only area, the food and restaurants available were amazing. Well worth the time and money!!!

This is small quiet resort. The room we had was absolutely terrific - large and extremely comfortable. There is a breakfast buffet, all other meals are restaurant style - it works. Lots of loungers. The beach is good - shallow for non-swimmers. Snorkeling is poor. Apparently, weekly beach meals/barbecue. The staff are friendly and helpful. As with most resorts, there is constant "music" playing throughout the property.

If you are looking for a RELAXING vacation spot - this is the place for you. The staff is FANTASTIC, the property is very clean and well maintained, and even when the resort is at capacity, there are spots at the beach and pools for you to lounge (even at 2 in the afternoon). There are a variety of activities, but not a ton of them. There only 4 restaurants (one of which is just a lunch spot) but the food is good. They have themed dinners several evenings during the week and the only buffet is at breakfast. I'd recommend downloading the app so you can read the menus and see the activity lineup. If you are looking for a place with a hopping night life and a TON of activities and dining options - look elsewhere - this is not your hotel. With only 148 rooms, it's small and quiet. We went to unwind, relax, and just chill - Margaritaville Cancun (the family friendly one) was perfect for us and we'll be going back.

I stayed at this property for 4 days and it was one of the most disappointing vacations I’ve ever had. The staff was very impolite, the room service was bad, and the so-called “all inclusive” system is a joke since you only get a few points that can be finished with just two beers. The food was extremely limited, and on three different occasions they didn’t even have beef or chicken, leaving us to eat tacos with only cheese. The photos online are completely misleading, there were no activities at all, and overall the resort looked nothing like what was advertised. Everything about this stay fell far below expectations, and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Das Zimmer war sehr sauber, die Mitarbeiter (vor allem in den Restaurants) waren sehr freundlich und insgesamt ein schönes Resort. Besonderes Lob geht an die Kellner César und Heriberto, die sehr aufmerksam und immer für einen Spaß zu haben waren. Leider bekommt man zu Beginn des Aufenthalts nur gesagt, wo sich das Zimmer befindet. Alle anderen Dinge wie Restaurants, Pools etc. Muss man selbst mit der App suchen. Zudem wurde nichts zu den Points erklärt, die man in dem hoteleigenen Mini-Markt einlösen kann und es wurde auch nicht gesagt, wie der Laundry Service arbeitet. Das könnte noch verbessert werden.

The room itself had an awkward layout, was not clean, and lacked proper storage for clothing. Nowhere to go around this resort. The road leading to the resort was in terrible condition, riddled with potholes and frequently flooded, making it difficult to get anywhere. Arranging transportation was also a challenge, as it was in a secluded area, and the front desk staff were unhelpful and rude. They even quoted an exorbitant $180 for a taxi ride to a destination only 15 minutes away. Told us Uber was a 2 hour wait. Staff were a bunch of scammers! Literally giggling Infront of our faces. Got an Uber in 20 min. Koodos to our Uber driver that when through the treacherous roads. Hope his car is ok LOL.

2nd visit at this property we love this property. Only disappoinment this year was the front desk welcome and ambassador staff. Actually rude when inquiring about assistance with needs after check in. In years past they were warm welcoming happy to have you at their property. Margaritas and flipflops to welcome smiling Happy staff, not this year unfortunately. We transfered from another property so did not arrive at a busy time they left out luggage at curb unattended we had to ask them to tend to. Our island ambassador was nice and efficient checking us in and assisting with any dinner reservations. All other staff servers and bartenders were wonderful!! Could not say enough great things about them. They made the week and carried out the “Jimmy Buffet Island Vive” Hoping the change in management over the last year doesnt impack anymore rudness. There is always something fun going on to participate in. Love the

Very friendly wait staff. Always gracious and kind. We did not care for the constant badgering to sit and listen to the spiel to become a Karisma member. At one point, the Prestige representative was literally begging us to attend.

All the staff are awesome. If you want a more private property, this is the best place unlike the usual huge properties where you need to ride a trolley to get from one place to another. What sets it apart from my previous stays in other hotels in Cancun, all of the people are accommodating and patient. There was a hurricane during our stay, but the staff handled it carefully. Kudos to Oscar, Jairo, Jesus, Antonio, my yoga/pilates instructor and other staff! Excellent service and tremendous hospitality!

Pros: - Hotel is close to the airport, about 22 mins. - Property was quiet and not crowded when we visited in October. - Staff are friendly and very helpful. - Pools are clean and not crowded - Very family friendly and has a kids club - The property is slowly showing its age but it is well-maintained. - I really enjoyed the food from the restaurants- Frank and Lola's Italian and the asian fusion restaurants, Taco house and beach house. The asian fusion could use more kid friendly menu. Cons: - The shower walls and floors has brown coloured tiles and small patterns which I found irritating. There was quite abit of brown grout in-between the tiles. I didn’t look forward to showering and I always wore bathroom slippers to shower. With the brown colour, its hard to tell how dirty the shower area is. - The tap water had a strong rotten smell coming from it. Not sure if this because of the hurricane season time of year. - The area rug in our room could use some deep cleaning or complete replacement. - Our rooms were never cleaned on time. The staff typically comes between 1-3pm and that usually falls within the nap time for our toddlers. We'd tell them to comeback in a couple of hours. Sometimes they did and other times they didn’t or forgot. - Food variety is limited, especially for the breakfast and room service menu. Overall, our stay was okay.

Solid experience with many small bumps along the trip. The staff at times didn’t offer much help after multiple request. The staff were nice. Definitely recommend for an older couple. Not much night life but they have events shown on their app. The road to get there is terrible but that isn’t their fault.

Nice oceanfront property. Good food options and overall very friendly staff. I have an Expedia VIP which I didn’t find to be useful at this hotel- for the room upgrade I would have lost my ocean view for a larger room. The VIP credit also had to be split between 4 different activities which were mostly directed for couples or larger groups. Good place for a shorter stay given the smaller number of dinner restaurant options. I liked the Italian spot and Rita’s is prob their best restaurant (closes at 5p though). A solid and overall good hotel- not the best place I’ve stayed, but also not the worst.

Pros: -Close to the airport, typically you will be the first drop off and last pick up from and to the airport which is important. - Cozy - Clean - Relatively good food but not the best, we liked the Latino restaurant better - The area is within the Uber pick up range - Good room service - Overall, friendly staff Cons : - Not so many fun activities specifically no playing, game or sport, not sure if is the planning issue or the people prefer to relax and lay down - I tried calling front desk from my room several times and no pick up, I had to walk to the lobby - There is an on tv resort app and mobile app that appears to not be synced with each other, the mobile app is more up to date with the plans, schedules and activities - we tried to order food and room service through the app, although it appeared to be sent on the phone after a 1.5 hour waiting, I went to the lobby and the concierge said the request was not received - Not a walkable neighborhood In overall we had a good experience and enjoyed our stay.

This was a good all inclusive hotel right on the beach with lovely pools and landscaping. I was upgraded to a swim up room which was lovely. The hotel had a Mexican fiesta on the beach one night with dancers and musicians and I did the morning yoga. The restaurants are menu service for lunch and dinner. The only downside is the hotel is not near a town centre and has a very poor road to get to it. Overall I enjoyed my stay here!

Stayed at MargaritaVille for 7 nights. Staff was very friendly and helpful during our whole stay. The rooms were very clean and well maintained as was the property. We originally chose this resort because we had read SO many reviews about how good the food was but I must say we felt VERY underwhelmed. The Italian restaurant was probably the best meal we had but still nothing special or worth 5 stars. The main place to eat which is the BeachHouse had menu or Buffett options and I would highly recommend you order off the menu, the buffet is pretty nasty. The taco house is also very underwhelming which was highly disappointing as this was the part we were most excited for.(very bland food and not a lot to the tacos besides meat and tortilla & fake cheese sauce on nachos?) Room service was also one of our favourite things as we couldn’t find much to eat that we liked- cheese burger and cheese quesadilla was our go to, pretty sad for a 4.5 star resort. Then there’s the sale pitch’s… We were wanted to go to isla Mujeres and asked the concierge to give us some information on tours. He told us it would be over 250$ per person to go which was fine but then tried to talk us into a 3 hour breakfast to hear about the hotels “prestige club”(time share pitch). If we did this we would get over half off for the excursion. We decided to opt out of this because we didn’t want to waste our time on this and we’re able to do the excursion ourselves (taxi, ferry, golf cart) for ALOT LESS

The food was a hit and miss. Rita’s tacos was good but the rest of the restaurants were just ok. One night the food was good but it was served cold. By the time the server came back around it had been 20 minutes so it was no point in replacing. Room service did not have a lot of options. It was hard to get a decent drink there. The only bar with a menu was compass bar and they only gave me a menu on the last couple days of a 7 night trip. Every other time the bartender would give the mocktail menu and I would add a shot to it. When they finally gave the real menu the new bartender said “we don’t have that here” when I showed him a picture of the mocktail menu that they kept giving me. That’s when they gave me the real menu. It seems that they don’t want to give you the menu so they can keep serving the drinks that are easier to make. The points system they had for the mini bar was annoying. You could only use it on beer, soft drinks, and snacks. It was inconvenient having to go to joes merchant shop every time and drop it off to the room The room was clean and easy to get to the bar. There was a lot of stinky seaweed but that’s not the hotels fault. It was easy to get Ubers to and from the hotel.

The hotel was excellent. Hotel & rooms are spotlessly clean and well kept. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Food Beach House Restaurant This was where you have breakfast, lunch & dinner. Breakfast was acceptable with lots of choice. Most lunches you choose from a menu although we did not eat lunch here. Dinner was buffet with other choices from the menu. Food was ok but not exciting. Service was excellent. Rita Taco House Open for lunch until about 5pm Loved it here. Excellent food and service. Frank & Lola’s (Italian - need to book) Ate here once. Food was very cold and not great. Lumpy mashed potato and meat that looked steamed. Other people we spoke to seemed to like it, so maybe we had a different chef. Iatino (Fusion - need to book) Excellent food and service. We ate here many times and never disappointed. Blended Bar Smoothie bar, really good. Excellent friendly service with a big smile. Beech When we stayed, seaweed was being constantly washed up but they had a team clearing it away, so it was never a problem. Lots of sun-beds and beautiful soft white sand. Entertainment Lots going each and everyday. Live bands at the main pool bar most nights. We had a great time and really enjoyed our stay (12 nights). Could not fault the hotel. The hotel is small with 149 rooms but it has everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Nothing nearby but get an Uber to Puerto Morelos and have a wander around. We had an amazing time on our vacation at Margaritaville Cancun. The resort was incredibly clean. The rooms spacious and clean. The pools and bars and activities were a ton of fun. Our absolute favorite restaurant was Rita's Taco House!! Dinners were amazing at Frank and Lola's and the Latin Fusion restaurant. Fun dinners on the beach as well. Would go again in a hearbeat!

We had an amazing stay at this resort! The staff was incredibly kind, welcoming, and always willing to help with anything we needed. The food was delicious, with plenty of great options, though it’s important to pay attention to the lunch and dinner service times so you don’t miss them. The only downside of our visit was the concierge experience. They were extremely persistent in trying to sell us on extras and didn’t seem to take “no” for an answer, which ended up taking away from our vacation time.
