The Fives Oceanfront

The property is stunning. The customer service was great. The things I was highly disappointed by were my quality of sleep and access to the pool. I arrived in the evening and I always take an evening swim before bed at hotels. They are usually open until 10. The Fives pool was closed by 8pm. Such a disappointment to not be able to use the pool on a beautiful warm evening. Second was all the lights in my room. The smoke detector was directly over my bed and had a blinking green light. It was like a mini strobe light and very much impacted my ability to sleep well. Last, the prices were unclear and I was charged extra fees at the end of my stay that I had not expected. The sunrise is beautiful from the beach chairs but the staff cleans up seaweed at sunrise and they rake right in front of the chairs as the sun comes up. Its nice that they do this but they worked right in front of me so I had to move.

The beach and the infinity pools were within walking distance from our room. The service staff was great. We went during the off season so food options were a bit limited. The food was mostly great and some were inconsistent. The best dessert was the tiramisu!

The place was clean and nice. They had 2 pools and both were maintained properly with great views. Staff was friendly and greeting. Everything felt like home. I would definitely recommend this property to others for vacations.

Property was very nice and clean. The occupancy was low, there were not all dining options open for entire trip. We bought the all inclusive option, it was limited. Staff seemed stretched and limited, there was a tropical storm that came through. They were very nice in spite of this. We would stay again.. Only one pool open, roof top infinity pool/bar restaurant closed for repair.

Localisation parfaite. Accueil parfait, personnel aimable et serviable. Chambre propre et bien équipée (coffre-fort, frigo, TV, sèche-cheveux, produits d'hygiène...). Cadeau de bienvenue (Prosecco + fraises). Soufflerie de la climatisation un peu bruyante et difficile à régler. Baies vitrées pas complètement hermétiques (crée de la buée à l'intérieur de la chambre). Deux piscines, celle sur le Rooftop a une vue incroyable. Plage nettoyée des sargasses. Petit dej correct.

Architecture outstanding and effective. (Art in motion) Great staff and we took the breakfast plan, as we also enjoyed eating local cuisine. Only negative was the cleanliness of the main pool which also required a handrail. We do plan to return to the Fives.

The food was excellent!! Service was excellent except room service slow one day. Beach is excellent with lounge chairs included. Service on beach was excellent. No hot tub. Great massage. Overall great experience!

Very nice hotel and location but it was more than we needed. We like to explore the area so barely spent any time there. We were disappointed that the rooftop bar was closed so early at 6 pm.

Sin embargo, el mal mantenimiento, el servicio deficiente y la falta de atención del staff hicieron que nuestra estancia no fuera tan agradable como esperábamos. Las habitaciones necesitan una renovación urgente, ya que el mobiliario está viejo y desgastado, las alfombras sucias y la limpieza es deficiente. Encontramos arena en la habitación, lo que demostraba que el servicio de limpieza no hacía bien su trabajo. El staff no estaba bien capacitado ni informado. Preguntamos sobre los horarios de los restaurantes y cada persona nos decía algo diferente; primero nos dijeron que cerraban a las 11, pero luego otra persona nos dijo que cerraban a las 11:30. Además, no había opciones de comida hasta las 12:30, lo cual es inaceptable en un hotel de este nivel. Cuando solicitamos información sobre camastros y sombrillas, el personal simplemente no sabía nada y ni siquiera intentaban buscar una respuesta. Otro gran problema fue el servicio en los restaurantes. Los meseros atendían mucho mejor y más rápido a los huéspedes norteamericanos, mientras que a nosotros nos ignoraban. Tardaron 30 minutos en traernos un ticket y más de una hora en servirnos un simple guacamole, a pesar de que el restaurante no estaba lleno.

This is a beautiful property but I was not satisfied with my check in wait time, the way my room was cleaned daily, the nose from the room above me.

We are travelers all around the year. Our special thanks go to Valeria at the front desk. She was very helpful and always resolved our small problems. Also special thanks to the cleaning stuff. The room was everyday in perfect clean condition. We will recommend the hotel.

At the time I booked, the ad for this property was misleading regarding "all-inclusive." The information said the property was all inclusive, did not specify that the booking would not be all inclusive and nothing said I was unable to book my stay as all inclusive through Expedia and would need to pay extra to the property for this. After bokking, I called the property directly to confirm the details of my stay. They said that my booking was NOT all inclusive and to add that would be $150/day per person. At the time of our stay, the property only had 2 restaurants open. It is well located for walking into town (10-15 min) to MANY great local food establishments. We skipped adding the all inclusive option and are glad we did. We purchased food/ drinks from the Romarly Beach Club and were disappointed. We sampled most of the drinks on the menu and found even the simplist were poorly executed and not worth the purchase. The food was just servicable. The property and rooms are very clean. The property is beautiful/ the boutique size is a real benefit. We really enjoyed the beach area and rooftop pool, as well as sand volleyball. The room we booked included a kitchenette. Upon arrival we found there was an additional charge to turn on the stove. Also, the room AC runs continuously at 63 degrees unless you ask them to come turn off the power to it.

Lovely, clean hotel, very spacious room with view of the sea. The staff were variable - guy at the bar is a legend and Israel was great helping me book trips. Loads of options and delicious food for breakfast, lunch and at the pool bar, but I’d imagine the dinner menu could get boring if you’re there on AI for more than a few days. All great quality and nice it’s all à la carte - no buffets in sight!! Overall, great value and enjoyable stay!

Overall, I had a good experience. I took advantage of the all inclusive, but found the food not to be as good as I expected. I would say average. I spoke with a guest while there who stayed there 2 years ago and came back because of the food. She said there is quite a difference and that the food has really gone downhill since then. Also, for a weeks stay, there was not enough variety for that length of stay. The room was beautiful and in good condition. However, there was a Jacuzzi on my balcony, which I used only once because three out of the six jets did not work. Plus, apparently it leaked as I had a knock on the door from maintenance shortly after I used it because it was leaking to the unit below. I also had a leak in my bathroom ceiling and the maintenance team came and fixed right away. I found the maid service not up to par for this type of resort. There was actually one day when I did not receive service even though I had the sign on the door to make up the room. There is not enough cleaning staff at this hotel to service the rooms. Check in was supposed to be 3 PM but had to wait longer because the rooms had not been cleaned yet. The restaurant and bar staff were great and a big shout out to Eric…he is such a gem and hard worker. Actually the entire hotel staff were excellent. If I were to go back (not sure I would), I would not do the all inclusive.

The property is over rated the room had flies the room didn’t seem to be cleaned that well the sheets had stains and there was a moldy smell in the room. The food wasn’t good portions were small and food was below average. There was no activity’s to do very boring vibe. The staff was ok I wouldn’t recommend this hotel it was a total waste I think they are using the Marley name to attract guests very disappointed in my stay

The most beautiful property and rooms! All of the staff were friendly and attentive. I had no idea what to expect, as I wasn’t familiar with The Fives. It far surpassed what I considered possible for the price! The room was so much larger and nicer than any I’ve received at hotels in the US. We had a huge balcony with sitting area, sun chairs, and our own hot tub. Amazing.

The design and details of the building are beautiful and well thought out. Acoustics are soft, light indirect.

The Fives Oceanfront is the most beautiful resort I've stayed in a long time. The rooms were well designed and spacious. And the staff was extremely accommodating. Especially Valerie and Sarahi. Food could be better, but there are options and plenty of restaurants in walking distance. Overall a 10 out of 10 for me!

The staff was very nice and friendly. Shout out to Betty Flores for looking out for us from beginning to the end. My only complaint is I could hear people walking over my head and moving. Makes for a not so restful night. Wasn’t expecting that from a 4/5 star hotel with an Excellent review rating.

It was so nice , the food at the restaurants were pretty good if you aren’t a picky eater . The drinks were great and the staff was so nice! Amazing view! Only downside the jacuzzi tub on the patios of the room didn’t get hot .

loved my stay here the staff are so friendly and helpful, i got the cheapest room and it was massive. loved the adults only rooftop pool being right on the beach :)

This was my first solo trip and I had the greatest time! The staff was incredible, the hotel is super cute and I felt always very comfortable and safe. The food and drinks were pretty good, specially the coffee at Rowmarley. I booked a scuba trip through the hotel and that was also pretty nice. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Had a very relaxing stay. Staff was EXCELLENT!!!!

Staff was phenomenal and had great attention to detail. Room was clean and spacious, views were amazing. Walkable restaurants/bars, great excursion options. Felt safe here even as a solo traveler.

Wow where do we begin. This is our 2nd time coming to The Fives Oceanfront because we loved it so much and our 2nd time was even better than our first. Everything was wonderful, the beach, the pool, the food, our room, but none of this would be possible with the STAFF they’re the ones who make this resort AMAZING. To name a few of the people who took care of us Erick, Emir, George, Baldo, Carlos, Angel, Luisa, Moses/Moises!! We came with our 2 kids ages (4) & (9months) and they all were so caring and patient with us. Can’t wait to come back again.

I property has went down hill over the years. Staff are rude. Restaurants on site are not always open. all inclusive is limited. Bars closed at 10pm. Room service was rude, slow and hardly answered the phone

2nd visit here based on the first visit. The property is amazing and the wait staff is incredible. Something has occurred in the last 9 months where the property seems to be Management heavy. Polite every day until you express a concern and then you seem to be invisible to them and you are no longer the same valued guest. Our ‘package’ was not explained at check in and come to find out we had a ‘meal plan’. An additional guest joined, and while the room capacity was 6 we were charged additional fees yet the additional guest did not get the same ‘meal plan’. I would stay again because of the wait staff, tet the Management Team needs a refresh. Lots of folks standing around watching the workers with a cell phone in hand - offer ZERO assistance to staff or guests. Unfortunately disappointed in this stay.

Puerto Morelos is a nice small village not too far from the airport. The Fives in Puerto Morelos is a great place to stay but it is a 15 minute walk from centre town. There are a few restaurants at the hotel that have great food including vegan options. There is also great coffee at the hotel and a very small convenience store about 10 minute walk. There is an option to pay for all inclusive but we wanted to get out to centre town. The spa is good with various options. The overall feel of the hotel is great and peaceful (very nicely decorated, essential oils). Not too big. We had a suite which had a huge balcony with great views. Two things we found annoying and to be aware... First, one of the restaurants is owned by Bob Marley's son and they play Bob Marley non stop. We like Bob Marley but it gets long hearing the same songs over and over when seating at the beach or pool. Second, they have a travel program (Epic Travellers). The staff at the front (concierge) are nice but will try to pressure you to go to sales presentation.

The staff is amazing , Val and Majoo are the best , don't lose them they made the trip top notch , went above and beyond excellent serv, got me a hair appointment that was amazing!!! The new GM was a great addition as well! I've stayed there Many times and have seen a lot of changes . He was very present and expressed genuine concern. The Fives is a beautiful boutique hotel with amazing views. That’s the good. We had a 2 night reservation booked through Hotels.com. I chose the “pay at check in” option. (first mistake) 2 days before check in I received an email saying if I didn’t pay my balance within 24 hours my reservation would be cancelled. There was a link to the hotel reservation desk. That phone number didn’t work. Finally found a correct number to be told by the reservation representative to call back the next day. Physically went to the hotel the next morning to take care of the situation. The hotel concierge contacted reservations. They told me I couldn’t pay because it was a 3rd party reservation. I argued with him and he hung up on me. The concierge was finally able to get my bill paid. Check in is a pain. There is no front desk. You stand and wait until an employee notices you. We got our rooms, went up and found our key opened all of the rooms in our block. Our friends only opened our room. Went to lobby for reprogramming. Back up- still not right. Decided to deal with it when we went out. Suddenly our door opens and a random couple walks in. I’m naked. Went to the lobby, asked for management. Told no. After 3 more trips back and forth, another denial to speak to management, finally having stafff and security come with their laptops to reprogram the doors we had access to only the rooms we should. Their only comment to all of this was “sorry for the inconvenience”. Not acceptable, Fives!

Beautiful property right on the beach. Walkable distance to restaurants and shops. Easy access to Colonia, the local's town where authentic Mexican food can be found for a fraction of the price. Food and beverage prices were at least double the amount than in Colonia. Also cheaper options and larger portions found in walking distance.

Great location, right on the beach at the end of the road from town. Taxi ride into town was a few dollars, or an easy walk. Very safe and quiet.

very nice hotel. Very classy. We enjoyed it a lot. It's very close to Porto Morales and you can walk there. The staff was great. The room was very nice.

The property was wonderful. Sadly, the property next door played loud music most of the day which interfered with the ambience of the property.

Area around the hotel was very run down. But town was so nice lots of dining and bars. And beautiful beach

The facility and staff made for a relaxing stay. The beach had a lot of seaweed, but it was perfectly cleaned throughout the day. The property was close enough to walk. Great places to eat were walkable.

The Fives at Puerto Morelos was a lovely place to stay. Very clean, the staff were attentive and courteous and the location is very walkable to the rest of town. The in house restaurant has decent food, but the service was very chaotic on the evening we ate there. We ordered 1 salad and 2 entrees. My partners entree arrived quickly, but it was another half hour before the salad and my entree arrived after we asked a couple of times. Could have been a one off thing that evening, but we ate in and around town for the rest of our stay. Lots of great food locally.

Great views. Seems like a very safe area. Many restaurants within 1/2 mile. I was surprised to realize that the town is totally quiete after 9-10 pm. Very peaceful place. I was hoping to nap in the afternoon but our fifth floor room was right under the rooftop and they play music until about 5-7pm. No big deal but still. Be aware that cocktails are the most expensive you'll find. I think we payed about 25 dls for one shot of Don Julio 70, for example. We had four in total. Do the math, spent 100 plus tip. You can walk to a few nearby restaurants and consume there instead. The hotel service and staff is very good. The mattresses are very, very comfortable. Beautiful sunsets, sunrises. During full moon, you're in for a treat.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Fives. Food was okay, beach and pools were perfect, staff was friendly. It did seem like they didn’t have a great system for all inclusive guests. I didn’t like that you had to say your room number to everyone when ordering. Also a downside that they didn’t have any buffets for a quick bite. You always had to sit down and be waited on, just seemed like a waste of time.

Extremely high value for money. Great little hotel with personal service. Cute village. Highly recommend. Great breakfast. Only minus the very looong wait to get the food at all times.
