Hotel Jungle Lodge Tikal

Un hotel con buena infraestructura que podría ser mucho mejor con muy poca inversión, arreglen las mesa de pool y el juego de futbolín. Pero por sobre todo mejoren la atención en temas básicos como no despertar a gritos a las habitaciones que no van al tour del amanecer no una vez sino 3 veces, cada media hora comenzando a las 3:30 am. También les sugiero mejoren el menú, el hotel vecino, Jaguar Inn tiene una mejor variedad, a mejores precios y mejor ejecucion siendo un hotel mucho más modesto.

Early check in was not available so I asked where the pool was so we could go swim until it was time. She told where it was but failed to let us know the pool had been drained. Pool was one of the main reasons we booked there. Was given a paper with the hours of electricity. I have been to 34 countries and this is the first time where we only got a few hours of power. Unacceptable when paying almost $150! Wi-Fi doesn’t work in the rooms. Only in lobby , restaurant and pool area.

Very convenient location for visiting Tikal national park. All facilities were clean, we did not use the pool so I cannot comment on it. But if convenient location , safe and clean is what you are looking for, then it works well. They do turn lights out by 11 pm. Electricity has different times for when it is on and WiFi is limited to certain areas.

This is really one of the only places to stay that is directly in the park. It was an amazing location. The staff was wonderful. We had a private small cabin room. There are screens but no windows, so the temperature was dependent on what was happening outside, but it was clean and I slept great. The lodge has wifi, good food, and drinks. The staff were incredible, and we maximized our time in the park. The pool was large and cool in the evening. It was the perfect vacation for us.

great location for visiting Tikal ruins. guides are always available for sunset and sunrise tours, the price was reasonable. wifi is available in the hotel lobby and restaurant, but not in the room. however cellphones can not be used at the Tikal ruins, so that’s not surprising. totally I recommend this hotel.

El restaurante es muy completo y con precios accesibles. Right next to Tikal National Park Entrance. Excellent for sunrise tours. The swimming pool was out of order. Otherwise good property. But they could do a lot more.

It’s a very convenient and Eco place but the rooms were too hot. Needs air conditioning or bigger fans. The bathrooms were very clean and comfortable. The food was excellent and so was the service. The pool was a nice addition for after the jungle adventures, although it could use some cleaning.

Very nice stay - clean room, nice bar area, great pool, good food, and of course an excellent location near Tikal.

We liked the convenience of staying in the Tikal NP, but there are a few things that bring the rating down: There are periods when the electricity goes down. Fortunately it's usually between 3 AM and 4 am, when you are sleeping. The cobblestone walkways are difficult to navigate with suitcases. The rooms lack air conditioning and TVs and there is no phone to call. They are stingy with the bottled water and towels. The rooms need some deep cleaning, the screens are filthy. Toilet clogged easily. Fortunately the onsite restaurant is decent and the prices are somewhat reasonable for being a captive audience. The grounds, lobby, and pool area is beautiful. Internet only works in the lobby, not in your room!

Wonderful and clean room on a beautiful property.

The experience of being in the jungle is amazing, and the hotel delivers that experience very well. No complains there. Restaurant was good, water bottles were provided every day, and the "power out" times didn't bother at all since ceiling fan, nightlight, hot water, all work during those times. What to improve: 1. When we arrived the floor of the room was very dirty. It's a very small room so it's not hard to keep clean. 2. The swimming pool is falling apart. It has cracks, all paint is peeling, bottom is full of sand, water is cloudy. 3. You need an espresso machine at the restaurant. It's not that hard, and most tourists at the hotel are European... It would be a big plus. 4. Extend wifi to the rooms. Should not be that hard. Want to go above and beyond? 5. Improve communication with the customers before they arrive to the hotel 6. If the customer flight was late and the restaurant won't be open, proactively ask the customer if there is something they would like from the kitchen. I had to ask. 7. If the customer is leaving early, 5am shuttle, and cannot have breakfast, proactively prepare something for them so they can have at least a coffee and a cookie before leaving. 8. More rooms with A/C

The facility is absolute amazing, the grounds are gorgeous. Service is horrible! 2 plus hours to get through dinner Service. Front desk lady was rude when I checked in, rude during our stay, and rude when we checked out. Shower handle broke, there were a colony of ants living in our towels, the toilet also was stopped up. Everything about this placed screamed beautiful Luxury hotel but between the broken shower. The overflowing toilet the Nasty pool, and the horrible service it's really a 3 star hotel.

We were staying for just one night to see Tikal. On arrival there was a friendly welcome and although we were early our room was ready. We were given a welcome drink which we really appreciated. The hotel is perfectly situated for seeing the ruins, and it takes around just 30 minutes to walk to the Grand Plaza. Don't forget to buy the entry tickets at the gate. The hotel has a beautiful reception area with plenty of seating, a games room which shows a film about Tikal, a bar and restaurant ( no booking required). The grounds are lush and beautiful and it's possible to see many birds and maybe even monkeys. We were happy with our room which had a luxury feel with very nice toiletries. It was a standard room with two double beds. It only had a fan but that was fine. The windows were open but with mosquito nets which meant we could hear the sounds of the jungle. The room was very clean. It had a pleasant outside deck. Dinner in the evening had plenty of choice, our starters and mains came very quickly. We were hungry so we didn't mind but it felt a little rushed. We had the squid and bean soup starters, and chicken and steak dishes for mains. All were very good, the steak in particular was expertly cooked. The breakfast the next morning was also very tasty. Staff were very efficient and pleasant throughout. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel as a base for visiting Tikal.

Need to replace the mattress, and the mosquito net isn't effective.

Fantastic experience, having our own bungalow - with mosquito netting and ceiling fan felt like an Indiana Jones movie. Food was so so. Possibly because it is so remote so they need to freeze a lot of their menu items? Dining Atmosphere was amazing. Because of this remote location, there is no air-conditioning in the bungalows. Still, it was worth it just to be able to walk to the ruins. A lot of fun!

Nice accommodations and well appointed. However, the rooms had windows with double screens (which helped protect against insects) but no glass to close them. This time of year can be quite chilly so room was a bit uncomfortable during the night and morning with only a think blanket. I’m sure most of the year this is fine but guests should also be aware this setup lacks privacy as accommodations are close knit and pretty much anything you say or do can be heard by other guests or staff. Also, our room had extremely hot water - almost scalding - with only intermittent cold water to mitigate the temperature. So taking a shower was a game of not getting burned by the water and yet get cleaned up! Never thought I would be concerned about a hotel having too hot water! Usually it is the lack of hot water that is a concern.

Room was clean. Staff was nice. Cons: Room lacked T.V. Low water pressure. No phone to call for help if needed and no cell service. Sofa needed to be replaced. Poor lighting in room. All of this and it was a suite.

No A/C. The location is amazing walking distance from Tikal temples but there are no windows or A/C. The windows are just screens to keep the bugs out. It was an amazing experience to hear the jungle and monkeys at night but too hot without A/C. The ceiling fan didn’t help much and the mosquitoes still got into the room. It’s more like a cabin in the woods.

We will stay here again because, overall, it was fun. BUT I want to let others out there know what you’re getting into! This is NOT a luxury hotel. It’s not trash. It is like partly roughing it! There is NO air conditioning! I would NOT stay here in the hotter months. ONLY stay cooler months because it’s not comfy to sleep if too hot. We lucked out only one night was over muggy. Also, beds SUCK! They are not comfortable at all. The staff speaks broken English. Be patient with them. They do try their best to help, but a few of them were a little rude. The bartender was very nice and one waitress we had helped us learn a few words in Mayan. They do turn electricity off part of the day. You come here to UNPLUG not to work or receive calls. They claim the shutdown is to be eco-friendly. I think they should get solar panels and battery back up! Food at restaurant was very good. I loved my steak dinner! Amazing! Pool could be cleaner and bar at pool serves LIMITED drinks (beer and water). They should have full bar in my opinion. Be sure to reserve your shuttle from airport! Hotel is SUPER close to the park! Get a private guide for your tour that the hotel can arrange. They do keep beds and rooms clean. No bugs really (just a few). Wish they had extra fans in room rather than just the ceiling fan. Would have helped. Bring a flash light or lantern as that will help also! Don’t use up phone battery!

Great cause it’s on the park. However there’s no ac which is fine but the ceiling fan really doesn’t cool you, I think this hotel needs better fans cause this area is really hot

Amazing what kind of comfort the Jungle Lodge can provide in the middle of a jungle. The AC in our room was a life saver keeping us cool!

I contact the hotel before I made the reservation and they say only the suites has AC . I reserve the junior suite but when I get there they say not all the suites has AC only the Master suites , I need to pay $180 more for the stay . This is very disapointing. I show the Front desk all the chats buy they say they can’t do anything about it .

Beautiful property BUT the staff was just not nice. They seemed bothered with our presence.

Horrible customer sevice, electricity goes off at 11pm ,was not informed of this, food is just ehhh, food service is horrible, couldnt get water before i was withered, once you book a trip you couldnt cancel , no matter how much time you give them, odd cause its all part of the hotel.

A beautiful setting in the jungle serenaded by howler monkeys. First class staff take very good care of all your needs. Shuttle service was very efficient.

Shuttle was requested 4 days in advance and although they replied once saying all was good they never confirmed or showed up. We had to scramble to find alternative transport.

Staff and manager/owner (don’t know his position) was extremely slow and then to make things better were impatient and short with our group. Felt like they didn’t care to make it an amazing experience for customers because they didn’t have to since they were the only option inside the park.

The Jungle Lodge is located in the Tikal park so it was convenient to visit the archeological site .

The Jungle lodge was the ideal location to explore Tikal from. Located just inside the admission area for the park proper, it was less than a 5 minute walk to gain entry. I'm willing to give the place some leeway, given its location, but I'm also happy I was only there 1 night. Every member of staff I encountered were helpful and patient. The room was clean if simple. The atmosphere of the hotel, nestled in between the trees of the jungle, made you feel really immersed. There's really no signage or direction indicating how to get to the hotel. You're left working through language differences to find your room. The bed was 'board of wood' stiff. There was just no way to get comfortable on it. The bathroom was on a septic system that I managed to immediately clog. The shower was a dribble of water that only came out scalding hot. My shower consisted of jumping in an out as quickly could to try an rinse off. The plumbing issues might have been chalked up to "rustic ambiance" except I realized that the restaurant, not 100 feet away had proper flush toilets and sinks that operated perfectly normal, so the plumbing exists to give that to the rooms. The restaurant is expensive for meh food. But the only alternatives involve leaving through the entrance and walking over to the comida area with its small food vendors. In the end, I'm not sure the cons outweigh the convenience of the location, but they could do so much more to make the stay more comfortable.

Jungle lodge is magical, a 5 minute walk to the entrance of the park, helpful staff to sign you up for tours, relaxing pool area and many food options. Wish I could give it more stars, highlight of our time Guatemala.

How close it was to the ruins.

The property is wonderful. We woke up to howler monkeys, saw lots of spider monkeys swinging around trees on the property. It was nice to sit at the main lodge and watch for birds. It is the closest hotel to the Tikal ruins, so an easy walk down a hill to the entrance. Super helpful if you want to get an early start. The room was comfortable (we stayed in one of the hotel bungalows). The food at the restaurant was good, but the servers were not very friendly.

The restaurant staff was unhelpful at all the meals and very very slow

I loved how the property is located inside the park and steps away from the main entrance. It was so convenient staying here. Everything was clean and as expected. The only con I have is that the restaurant that is connected to the jungle lodge in mine and my family’s opinion was not the best. We found the food across from the main entrance, near the visitor center to be better and more reasonably price. Aside from this, everything was great. I definitely would stay again.

We loved this place. Meal time took a long time (easily two hours), it took me 45 minutes just to get my check, but since there was no wifi in the hotel room we were not too worried….there was nothing else to do but admire our pictures of the park anyways ☺️

Loved this hotel. Suites were very nice. Large beautiful bathroom. Restaraunt was delicious and reasonably priced. Service was excellent. Stayed two nights. We were able to enjoy a Sunset tour and go on our own in the early morning, 6:30 AM, to enjoy the magnificence of Tikal. Also went on a day tour provided by Cayo Island Expedition in Belize. Enjoyed the staying in the jungle but in great comfort. Lack of air conditioning was not a problem. We were comfortable with the fans moving the air.

Property was right in front of entrance to Tikal, overall great service, they have complimentary water in room, guided tours were friendly but the restaurant food was alright could be better but overall the experience was amazing! Great sense of nature and the outdoors!

The room and hotel location were wonderful. However, communication to organize transport to the hotel was terrible (the driver was 30 min late because the hotel failed to tell him I was coming from another hotel and not flying in and the driver told me he could have picked me up at my other hotel, which the hotel had said was not possible). The hotel also offered a group sunset tour that would have started 1h before my arrival to the hotel (which they knew since they were organizing the transport). Their private tours of Tikal are also double the price of what I eventually organized on my own... The food at the restaurant was the worst I've had in the country - the tostones were more like plantain chips but so thick I couldn't bite into them and the pasta was beyond over-cooked and the "spicy" sauce had no flavor. It's a shame because the hotel itself is ideally located (3min walk from the ticket control and entrance to the ruins), the rooms are very comfortable and the front desk staff was very friendly. There is no AC but the ceiling fans works very well and even during hours without electricity, the ceiling light and plugs work so I could charge my devices and still had light.
