Hotel Ynez

If you\'re looking for a country style escape in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley, I would highly recommend Hotel Ynez. This single story hotel is laid out in a horseshoe shape. The tastefully appointed guest units are on the outer sides of the "shoe", the reception area, lounge, breakfast area, gift shop, pool & spa areas are in the center of the shoe. The shoe surrounds a nicely landscaped area where you can relax below a gigantic oak in cushioned wood chairs by two gas fire pits, a bocce court and a grass area. My room was large, with a sink-into-comfort King bed. There\'s a large flat screen on the opposite wall, a writing table, and squeaky-clean and well-appointed bathroom. My room also features a small kitchenette with a beverage stocked vintage style fridge, and a well-stocked bar with top shelf liquor and bubbly, interesting hard cover bar craft books and a Nespresso machine. Dimmable lighting is featured inside and outside. The outside front patio has a round top country table and a hand-knit hammock should you want to doze off in the fresh Santa Ynez Valley air. The hotel is located conveniently in the heart of the Valley. A car or bicycle ride to the sights and tastes of Solvang, Santa Ynez, Ballard and Los Olivos are just minutes away. I stayed on Monday and Tuesday nights and predictably things were extra tranquil and relaxing at the Hotel Ynez and in the Santa Ynez Valley.

The only thing I would ask, is that you Provide other electric car charging other than Tesla.

It says in the FAQ's for you to not bring your own alcohol to be consumed in the outdoor part of the hotel? In the wine country :) but really anywhere ( there is no bar at this motel, however they do sell bottles)? Are you kidding me? The hospitality part is sorrily lacking, the desk person was so rude about my not being able to figure out the wifi password. It's a hotel with upgraded furniture, the parking lot is miles away and no one to help with bags.

Really a great experience. Travelers looking for a hip, dog friendly, recently remodeled property with great aesthetics and a really lovely outdoor space including a bocce court, will love this motel. Ten minute drive to world class wines and food in Los Olivos, and a beautiful and easy thirty minute drive to Santa Barbara. Friendly, helpful staff generally, and an excellent breakfast. Coffees in room are a step above, and the ability to buy a nice bottle of wine and delicious snacks from your room is top notch. There are however a couple improvements I would suggest: the feather bedding is not consistent with updated hygiene and sanitation considerations, and the cleanliness/maintenance of our room was a 7 out of ten. If I were managing this property, I would schedule deep cleaning and maintenance checks on each room once a month, to keep this lovely property in tiptop shape. I would also suggest that if a guest asks for the gas firepits to be lit in the evening, which pits are a striking and useful feature of the gardens, perhaps the staff person present in the office should not respond they are on break for another twenty minutes, as wine hour for many guests will be over by that time, and evenings can be windy and cool. And for those guests with electric cars, they do not have charging on site as stated on the website, instead they have Tesla charging only. I would absolutely recommend this property.

Hotel Ynez feels like a cheap flip of a roadside motel, which is exactly what it is. The good: - The grounds are cute - The location is fine - The staff were generally friendly - The TV was nice The bad: - Uncomfortable beds and cheap, thin pillows - Water pressure dropped to nothing while showering - We were treated to a sewage smell coming from the bathroom twice in two days - No refrigerator in the room or any furniture in which to put our things besides two bedside tables - Breakfast was a sparse arrangement of pastries and 2 sad looking quiches — by 8:30 much of it had been picked over. I'd guess it was completely gone for anyone who didn't get to it before 9 - No access to non-tap drinking water outside of breakfast hours. Asking at the front desk got me a "water is available in our retail store" reply. We ended up spending $12 on two bottles of poor tasting water in our room to avoid needing to go out late at night to get water - The (very small) pool was dirty - The ice machine was broken - Shampoo and body wash seemed really watery. Had to get a significant number of pumps to get enough to cover a small bit of hair. Also think they must be refilling the retail-sized bottles because the bottle of "cleanser" on the sink and identical to the one in the shower actually contained lotion... Overall, a really disappointing experience for the price. Maintenance issues, awful beds, and nickel and diming guests should be out of the question at a $300/night hotel.

Best breakfast ever. The hotel is even prettier in real life than in the picture. Gorgeous gardens with roses and majestic trees. great luxury and complimentary touches, such as the free bikes, quiche, and Marvis toothpaste. Quiet, very clean, and truly pet friendly. Loved the beautiful bike path right next to hotel. Went on breathtaking hikes within minutes of the hotel.

Beautiful property. Disappointed with bicycles. So excited to ride, but unfortunately bikes not maintained for ride ability. Loved the room and area grounds. Fire pits amazing .

Its a beautiful and quiet property. The pool was wonderful, especially during the heat. Love that its clean and dog friendly. Ive been here twice this year.

We loved the grounds of the property. Plenty of room for guests to enjoy the ambiance. Lovely, helpful staff. Since breakfast isn’t available onsite, a mini fridge in the room would be appreciated for guests to bring breakfast items. Even though the property is just off the main road, the rooms are set back enough so that it’s quiet. Bocce and bikes were fun extras.

Staff is amazing. The grounds are beautiful. Fire pits, individual hammocks in front of your room, bocce ball pit, and a nice warm swimming pool with beautiful chairs and umbrellas. Shout out to Ricky and Michael for making our stay so great

Such a beautiful hotel! The rooms are immaculate and cute as can be. Then the courtyard has such beautiful landscape with its fire pits, water fountains and seating all around. It is truly a must stay place.

Luis (sp?) who checked us in was wonderful. He was pleasant and extremely helpful. Inside and out, the property is so inviting. The room is decorated beautifully, super clean. After a long day of travel we sat outside and enjoyed a glass of wine under the half-moon. Unfortunately this is a one-night stay but we want to return and stay much longer!

I would not stay at the property again. There was no refrigerator in the room. I have travelled all over the US and the world. I have never had a room that did not have a small refrigerator. I was told if I wanted a room with a refrigerator i could upgrade for an additional $50.. Really. What a bad business you run!. The 1st room we were given had dog urine stains all over the bedskirt, which means they were also on the rug. The person in charge did give us another room. But it was not a good experience.

Is so peaceful there , love the quiet ambiance, clean rooms the porch with hammocks and those trees!!! over-all is a nice place to rest and relax by yourself or with family ( oh pets are welcome AMAZING ❤️) love it

Excellent. The property and the rooms are beautiful. The only problem was the air conditioner/ heater unit. Exceptionally loud. Otherwise everything was perfection. Lovely property.

WOW! I am so happy I could snatch a last-minute reservation at Hotel Ynez. Super cute and cozy, the staff was friendly and accommodating for my late-night check-in. My ONLY complaint is that the mattress was too soft. I noticed other reviews stated the same and I had a conversation about the mattress softness with some older guest over the nice breakfast.

Love this property and will visit again, but my neighbors last night were quite loud - they must have had a group of people in their room and on their patio and the were talking loudly until about midnight. I would urge the property to put single or quieter travelers in rooms further away from groups

Our second stay here with our dog. great rooms and grounds with firepits, adirondack chairs and boule. Each room has a porch area with a hammock. small fridge, sink, gas fireplace, plantation shutters. comfortable bed and large room; clean and well designed bathroom and shower.

Overall, the property was OK. The outdoors area was really nice and well decorated. The room itself was also not bad, however, the beds were pretty horrible. Definitely need an update on the beds, my bed was near collapsing on the edges. Lastly, who gives bottles of drinks that are not twist off without a bottle opener. Also, there is a slow drip/leak in the sink that would not stop. The walls are also pretty thin so you can hear quite a bit.

Staff was very friendly and hotel was quiet. Enjoyed the nespresso machine in the room and hammock outside. Wish the air conditioner was better but that’s how it goes with these types of hotels. We will be back!

The patios are pretty, the grounds are beautiful and inviting, and the rooms are comfortable if a bit small. They have high quality linens and products. Unlike some of the other properties in the area it doesn’t just feel like an upgraded motel.

This place is a mixed bag and is pricey for what you get. The renovation several years ago made it beautiful and upscale feeling, but the service and amenities don’t quite get there. For example, the smaller queen rooms have noisy air conditioners and aren’t well insulated from the noise of neighbors. There are no in-room refrigerators and the rooms are pretty cramped. The larger rooms have a king bed, refrigerator/bar area and even a little fireplace in the room so they are definitely worth the higher price. However neither room has a closet big enough for two people with luggage. Staff are friendly but not particularly helpful. On our most recent stay the coffee in the lobby wasn’t available until about 8, and may as well have been tea. The in-room coffee maker only had decaf pods and regular wasn’t available. For the price-about $500/night-I expect more. That said, the grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed sitting by the fire pits in the evening.

This hotel was much cooler than we expected...especially the outdoor space. Love the decor accents and the lovely fire pit areas. The pool looked cool too. The pool looked cool too (although it was too cold to swim) Only negative was there was no in room refrigerator.

This room had no desk and no fridge- the basics were missing. I could never get on the internet which defeated my whole purpose of staying there to do some writing. Staff was uninterested in providing any service. There is no signage to tell people where to check in. I did not like anything about the place and felt it was overpriced and offered little to no amenities.

What a great hotel experience! The staff was very friendly and accommodating from the start to finish of our trip. Property is amazing - lots of places to hang and visit. Felt more like a beautiful home/property than a hotel, which we loved. Thanks!

Loved our stay at this hotel. The setting was pretty magical. At night we would sit by the fire pit which was very enjoyable. We took advantage of the ebikes on the property and cycled into Los Olivos. Our accommodations were very roomy. We stayed in a king room and the beds were extremely comfortable. The staff was wonderful. I would gladly stay there again.

A good location for sampling the local vineyard tasting rooms and very comfortable rooms. Well maintained estate and facilities.

The property is close to lots of restaurants. I would highly recommend they bring back breakfast or even afternoon snacks it would make it very convenient to walk out of the room have breakfast and go back to the room. Given that there’s nothing in walkable distance to grab snacks or quick bite to eat it would be helpful to have snacks available in the afternoon.

Serene getaway! The property is beautiful and quiet, the rooms are gorgeous and the amenities like the pool and fire pits are stylish and inviting. It's a great location if you're looking to relax but also just a couple miles from Solvang and Los Olivos if you want to explore.

I really wanted to enjoy my stay at this beautiful property, but it just wasn’t possible with all the issues we experienced. There were many issues but I’ll state the most notable 1) there was a gardener blowing and cutting bushed directly outside our window for the entire Saturday (only full day we stayed) 2) the shower water does not stay hot and it would quickly and often turn ice cold in the middle of a shower 3) they allowed non guests to park in the parking lot because of a wedding party staying at the hotel which resulted in us and other hotel guests to find parking. Overall it was not conducive to a relaxing weekend. Oh, It should also be noted that while the property is beautiful, it is right by a busy road so it’s not quiet on the property. The staff was kind when we complained but ultimately I felt others trying to book should be aware.

Beautiful little hotel outside of Los Olivos and Santa Ynez. Know what you are booking - you will need to drive into any of the surrounding towns or take the complimentary bikes from the hotel. Rooms were great and well-appointed. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

Loved the property, so relaxing with the hammock on the patio. The fire pit to enjoy with wine at night and coffee in the morning. Breakfast and coffee was so nice.

This was our first stay but it won’t be our last. We loved everything about Hotel Ynez. It was spotless and the bed and shower were great, as well at the breakfast. We especially loved the grounds and the fire pits. We had our bikes with us so we really appreciated our patio area (and hammock!).

This is a lovely hotel. I would say not having breakfast available was a little disappointing. There were a few issues in the room, lamp didn't work unless i put something on the cord, and no fridge in the room I was assigned to. The coffee machine was hard to figure out as well.

Lovely hotel. The only draw back is no breakfast.. either it should be complimentary for guest for have items to purchase so guest can enjoy the hotel without driving around to find breakfast.
