Heights House Hotel - Houston Heights Downtown, an Ascend Collection Hotel

The pool area and outdoor lounge was great! The rooms were clean and stylish. No mini fridge. And there is no longer a bar or food. Otherwise, it felt safe and was a great central location to get to family and friends in the Hieghts and Montrose. I would definitely stay again for functionality of location.

Pictures are not what it seems. Completely different on site. There’s no restaurant on site. No bar either. They were using the pool for water aerobics and it was full of sweaty people. Why would I want to swim after that? 3 star hotel at best

Several improvements are taking place on the property, so didn’t get to utilize the property the way we intended. Space Cowboy (club) is under construction and new restaurant is as well. Was looking forward to both of these. No fridge in room or microwave, which was only a mild inconvenience. Microwave available in vending area. No closet in room, and we like to hang our clothes. Overall, a good stay. It was clean. Beds are comfy. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. It is an older property so expect to hear others moving around on the floors above you (walking, creaking floors, etc). Nothing crazy though. They offer a continental breakfast including oatmeal, bagels, pastries, milk, juice, and coffee. A great vibe! Fun cool place for a quick getaway!

Check in was great, the young lady that did this was amazing, we had great conversation and she made it really easy. We were only informed at check in though that there was going to be a big party on the Friday night, which was really loud and I think that you should notify your guests well in advance if this is going to happen so they could make other arrangements or stay else where. It was loud, some shady characters, hard to get parking and meant that we were woken up multiple times during the night. And alarm or something also went off 3x from 2am which wasn’t great either. Upon checkout, we weren’t given the best service, so after lack of sleep and poor customer service I have written this review which kinda sucks because they have really tried to make this a funky lil joint.

Checked in at 3:00. Very loud music which could be heard in room with foul language being played around property and around pool for an upcoming event. Elevator broken and had to cling three flights of stairs with luggage. Walkway seemed unstable in places. Staff was great. We left.

Unfortunately there was a party on the premises and was no parking on the property. I never made it to registration which was in the bar because I was told to park across the street which was 4 lanes of traffic. My car was loaded up for a move and I had my dog with me. There should have been a notification there was entertainment going on so I could have made an informed decision to stay their or not.

It was pleasant how ever the pool was taken over by a DJ and a singles crowd with lots of excessive noise until 11pm . It competed with the tv and our own music. If was informed of private function at the beginning we would’ve tried this place another time .

This place was party central

We were allowed to check in an hour early which was nice. The facilities were clean and comfortable. Recommendations: Perhaps lease parking close by and shuttle guests for private parties. It was inconvenient to leave and then come back to a lot full of event guests with no parking available to hotel guests. My husband and I sat in our vehicle for a half hour waiting for someone to pull out before finally being able to park. Complaint: We were unable to use the pool due this same event. It was closed to my kids until 8, then we finally made it out there at about 8:45, we were told it was closed despite closing time being 9 :/

We live an hour outside of Houston, and we usually stay here. It’s centrally located, reasonably priced, has a great pool, and has self parking. We’ve stayed here about 6 times, and it’s progressively gotten worse each time. We stayed in May, and I noticed our room wasn’t very clean. Then this time, this room was even dirtier. The bathroom and the floor in the whole room particularly. The bathroom door jam and the wall/baseboards behind the door were disgusting. I know every room can’t be detailed every cleaning, but I would expect noticeable dirt and stains to be cleaned. We were also given a room with 2 queens instead of the king room I was supposed to get. This might have been due to the. Some damage from the recent hurricane though, so I didn’t even bring it up.

We found bed bugs in our bedroom after laying on the bed for 1 hour. Left the hotel immediately and asked for a refund that I am still waiting for…

From the outside of the property it looked nice. Here’s the cliff note version- Got back to the hotel after a long business around 1 a.m, dead mosquitos and roaches on the bed, and dirty pillows. Michael at the front desk, who responded with sarcasm and VERY little concern. The second room wasn’t much better, that had hair on the pillow, no deadbolt latch, and the secondary lock didn’t work. I called the front desk twice with no answer and had to go back down. By 1:46 a.m.I had to find another hotel and pay for an Uber. Thankfully, I was able to get a room elsewhere that night.

What a great place to stay. Super clean rooms, super kind staff.

Room not clean

Room was not clean when provided to me. Furniture had dust all over and to top it of there where roaches. I ended staying for the first night out of the 4 night reservation paid in advance. However see my self force to leave the property the following morning for a better hotel. To bad I did not buy the insurance in case I need it to leave early. Leeson learned.

The aesthetic of the hotel was very nice chic clean kinda like a retro modern look we loved it. But when we checked in to our room there was dead cockroaches on the floor and in the sink. The beds were comfortable tho.

This property needs to improve on its cleanliness standards. Seems my room was formerly occupied by a guest with a dog and the stench of the dog was all over the lounge chair and the hair was all over the floor - rooms should’ve been thoroughly cleaned and upholstery steam cleaned - heaven forbid if I was allergic!

After I checked in, I went to the room and it didn’t look like anything I saw when I booked. I booked a king suite and it was a regular room with a double bed. I talked to the staff and they told me that they can’t guarantee that the room I booked would match the room I get. I paid for the king suite but it didn’t matter. While we were asleep the smoke alarm kept going off, about once every 45 minutes. It kept waking us up and we did t get a good nights sleep. When I got up in the morning, there was a large roach crawling on the bed. It was disgusting. The hotel is cute but they have a LONG way to go before they get it right. Don’t waste your time.

Room was great, I just didn't trust the bathrooms. Also, very noisy at 5am. Property is beautiful otherwise.

Beds were comfortable, no fridge or microwave in room. The dresser had a big stain on it. No toilet paper holder in bathroom and our room was overlooking a street with a dirty dumpster in view. No pool towels were offered and when I asked I was given bath towels. Cigarette butts on stairs. No restaurant or bar,

I liked that it looks welcoming and the staff was amazing. The price was affordable. Even though it’s been remodeled it’s still a motel, you can still hear your upstairs neighbors walking back and forth until 4am. The bathrooms are small with the toilet paper holder barely hanging on! The fridge is very cool, but the handle didn’t allow us to open it, so we just pulled it open from the crease on the top. The bed was comfortable, and a/c and heater worked very well.

The hotel's refurb is pretty nice. I had very little issues with my room. My only issue is the room was not well sealed so, when I woke up one day, the humidity inside had completely crept into the room. Additionally, someone below me was clearly smoking weed and stunk up my room both nights around 9pm of weed. All in all, it was a nice little hotel. I liked the location and it being right off 45 made it easy to get to my company's office. The location is also near restaurants that I enjoy. I will probably stay there again.

The very first issue I had was they didn't have a king bed room save for me even though I reserved it weeks ago. I had to settle for a two queen beds room and they didn't even offer me a discount. My wife and I were there for our anniversary and not having the king bed was not cool. The look of this place was kind of hip and cool but once we got on the property we could see this place was cheap. The balconies you have to walk on to get to the upper level rooms are creaky and a little unstable for a big guy like me. Right when we got in our room we found the toilet was stopped up and the room phone wasn't working properly. The elevator was terrible as well. It shook and dropped in between floors. A little scary. And the last thing is I got woken up by the smell of marijuana being smoked somewhere near our room. Either someone outside our room or one of the neighboring rooms. And we were in a non-smoking section but I guess if their smoking marijuana their not going to care about that. All in all this place was not great and not even good. Very disappointed in our experience at this place.

No Microwave No refrigerator Not enough towel in room

Security is an issue, our room door did not lock from the outside or inside.. it was a fun looking motel, unique with the turf grass and neon lights and paintings on outside of building. Our room was average cleaned. Elevator was really hot. Best to use the stairs Pool is small and the ph was off when we were there. We didn’t stay the night because it was late and our door wouldn’t lock. They offered us another room but we felt unsafe at that point and decided to leave

Location!!!!!! Needed a mini fridge and we kept finding bugs. Would come back. The location was exactly what we needed. Pool was great too. Overall solid 3.8 out of 5

They’re clearly in the middle of a renovation, and I really want to emphasize how kind lovely the staff was here, but it’s also clear they spent more money on looking good on the outside than on actual, normal basic things that every room should have. When I first pulled up, there was caution tape on the front door. Turns out, they were painting, but maybe just use a “wet paint” sign so it doesn’t look like an active crime scene lol. Maybe it really was a warning! This was the first time in my life I’ve ever asked to change rooms. When I opened the door, there was an overpowering smell of something like paint and, I don’t know… mildew? My eyes were watery and itchy. They were super accommodating and walked me to my new room so that they could verify this one wouldn’t have the same problem, and it didn’t. However, because I saw what the first room had, I could also spot what was missing in this one. There was no place to put clothes. No cabinet, no closet, not even a wall hook — which also meant no place to put towels. I putting my suitcase on the floor for the night, but I realized later that the tile floor was actually pretty dirty. After walking barefoot from the shower to my suitcase, my feet were filthy. There was no toilet paper holder so the TP was just on the edge of the tub, but the roll was stamped lol. No hairdryer. No place to plug my phone in near the bed. Y'all, these aren't even amenities, they’re basics.

Staff was awesome. Friendly and super helpful (delivered ice to my room I’m since the ice maker was broken and also the blow dryer later in the evening). I like the ease of texting questions. Property is an old Howard Johnson motel that was redone and managed by Choice hotel chain. It still feels old although gussied up. It is a walk-up; no elevator. Parking felt secure with a guard and fence. Staying in a room facing pool and bar would be noisy but they were thoughtful to put me in a room in the back. Couldn’t hear the big party at all. Extremely convenient to I-45 and downtown. Bed was comfortable, room was clean. Breakfast was bagels and yogurt; quick and sufficient. Overall a good motel to stay in for one night.

Specifically asked for the quietest part of the hotel due to waking up early for work. They said yes. The heat was out . So instead of another room on same side I got put on the noisiest side next to freeway. I stayed the 1st night. They weren't booked. Maybe 10 cars in the whole parking lot. I had no choice but to check out early on the 2nd day i had already paid for. The lady at desk extremely nice and understanding said she would ask for manger to not charge me the last day. Looks like they decided to charge me anyway.

They overcharged my stay by $115, and never responded to my emails about the overcharge. They also took 3 hours to check us into an unfinished room with no bedsheets and ongoing construction. The second room was not much better, and missing a fridge.

I have now stayed at this hotel on 3 separate occasions for work trips. It is conveniently located in the Heights area. The staff and GM are over the top friendly and so accommodating. Any little request (extra pillows, etc...) and they are ON it! The atmosphere is a fun, funky vibe. Clean and the AC is cold. I will stay here every time I am in Houston. I highly recommend The Heights House Hotel!

This is the cutest little hotel, and the staff were exceptional. I was there and although I did not request housekeeping services, they emptied my trash can, provided clean towels and even made my bed....and my day! And the Space Cowboy bar is casual and fun with good pours. Stayed for business and will definitely be back!

Breakfast option was nothing but carbs. Staff is very nonchalant and I texted that number that texted me asking that if i need anything to text it and someone will come help me and i did but i never received any of the items i needed. Has to go to a Walmart.

Had a booking error made on my part and the young lady working the front desk was very rude and dismissive about the situation and actually locked us out of our room and I asked if we could reenter she told me no and I told her we had our service dog inside and then she said we could go back in to retrieve the dog and that we only had until 3:00 p.m. to resolve the issue or we would be locked out again. We were treated as if we were freeloaders and not as someone who simply made a small booking error.

Went for the Astros 3 game series, booked two room with kids and instead of getting a 1st floor I was given a 3rd floor room and that wasn’t convenient with 4 kids but other than that the service was good. Only thing is we gave our dirty towels the second day and never received more.

All the staff were fantastic, during the storm a tree fell on our house and we needed a dry safe place to stay. Even though the power was out they still checked us in and it was comfortable given the circumstances. Housekeeping was incredible.

Let start by saying the staff was very nice. With that being said it took three attempts to find a clean room. I walked in into three rooms where the sheets from the last person was stacked on the dresser and nothing had been cleaned. My key card didn’t work three times and I had to be let in by staff. After all of that they tried to charge me $218 plus the $50 deposit when I booked the room for $168. Maybe this isn’t normal but I wouldn’t recommend this place right now

Overall was good, just because one of your staff at the checking, she was a little rude with another customer while I was at the counter. She was showing attitude to anyone, sad I didn't got her name. I have to clarify, that was just one staff member out of the whole group that we interacted with. The bar tenders and the kitchen staff went the extra mile to keep everyone happy at the pool and bar area.

Hotel is awesome. Close to evrything. The onsite bar is out of this world. This will definetly be my go to anytime i am in Houston now.

Heights House is one of my favorite places to stay while visiting Houston. The rooms are always clean and decorated. The area is quiet but I did experience some loud guests one night but that didn’t deter my stay. I enjoy the breakfast options has late nights cause early morning hunger pains so the breakfast bagel is always on time. there’s a taco spot within two miles from the hotel if you want something else for breakfast. I Will definitely stay again as it’s close to the freeway and downtown.

The hotel itself was clean, however despite asking for a room on the quiet side of the hotel, there were some very rowdy neighbours/people that kept us up through the night. We decided to take the metro home from downtown which was very uncomfortable and we did not feel overly safe in the neighbourhood at night.

The staff are extremely helpful and very kind. But even with the renovation and new name, the old reputation (Astro Inn) of the location still lingers. It’s not the safest area so you have to stay alert. Despite that, it was a lovely and friendly place to stay.

This place is especially cute and fun. It has a very convenient location to downtown and attractions in the Heights and the staff was friendly.

Awesome hotel just wish it was in a different part of town.

This was a great value in a great location.

I stayed for one night, and it was a spectacular experience. From the moment we arrived to check-in, the staff was very friendly. The rooms were super comfortable, and the overall atmosphere was excellent. I would definitely stay here again. Oh, I almost forgot to mention something important – they serve a delicious breakfast in the morning with a wide variety of options like yogurt, bread, cookies, cereal, fruit, and juices. In short, I highly recommend it.

The staff went out of their way to make our stay pleasant and the pool looked clean. Because all of the doors to the rooms face outward, the hotel was pretty noisy. Breakfast was pretty limited.

Restaurant and bar were amazing, DJ was amazing, atmosphere was everything. Sat by the pool listening to music just vibing. Rooms were very nice considering the affordability of this property!!!!!! Def would stay again. AND it was extremely close to the music venue which made it my first option and it worked out so well. Ubers also show up quick.

Perfectly adequate but a bit pricey for what it was; essentially an old motel that’s been given a lively paint job. Rooms adequate but tight and there was no microwave although it appeared in the room photos. Breakfast was basic. Toast was the only warm food. Vacuum packed boiled eggs in the fridge with no way to heat them; weird. Not sure what you’re supposed to do with that.

The bar wasnt opened on a monday. Literally the only day i had there. Wasnt near any food . Ot nothing offered on the property. Otherwise i luved the vibe. Super cool place. I would stay again.

Our stay was great! The fashion show was fun, the pool was lovely, and our room was clean and comfortable. The lady at the front desk was incredibly sweet and gave us fantastic recommendations for exploring Houston. The bar food was good however the bar manager was a bit rude. Despite this, we had an overall wonderful experience.

Hotel was very cool, cool decor seating area was nice as well. Fairly centrally located, easy to get to downtown. Only complaint was breakfast, went down at 9:20 and nothing left, just some bread…I mentioned it to the front desk and got very little response.
