Was only served breakfast one of the three mornings we were there. The breakfast only had stale cereal, milk, and bread. The room was covered with stains and streaks. The underneath of the bed was disgusting, the bathroom curtain rod was covered in rust. The parking lot is disgusting, covered in glass and trash. Atleast the bed sheets were fresh and clean, plus the A/C worked! I saw one worker the whole entire stay, which was the house cleaning. They have no on site staff, except a kiosk with 24/7 employees that are on the other side of the world. I will not stay again, and do not suggest anyone else should

For Carbondale to be the intersection of two solar eclipses, this place did little to encourage guests to return. The grass was not cut, the parking lot needs repaving, and various other things could have made our trip much better. It’s like they don’t really care about their establishment with the boarded up windows, and such. Very disappointing.

I paid half price for my stay so it was especially nice for the price. The room and halls were very cleaned and well maintained and furnished. I am very happy with our stay. There was no gym or pool so this works if you are not needing a lot of amenities.

Not enough curtains closet window had none allowing parking lot light to light up the room at night. No Wi-Fi no Catv .Room big and clean no toilet paper holder. No elevator. There was no garbage can in our room. No elevators to 2nd floor. They changed the key Codes on your everyday @ 11AM, even if you had a 2 day stay. No towel bars in the bathroom. Not enough electrical outlets in the room. Unable to plug light on desk. Not enough light in the room

It is dirty. My toilet ran constantly. Even after i asked for maintenance. The wifi foe the tv didnt work until I complained. And then it was only for 1 night. There was trash all over the sidewalks and parkin lot. The service is almost nonexistent. The bed is uncomfortable. They do have a water coolee so thats something

You could tell this building used to be something else cause it is definitely aged and not in a cute charming kind of way. They have tried their best to make it look historical. I saw signs for guest laundry and fitness center but they didn’t actually exist. My room was next door to the bar that is I didn’t hear anything coming from in the bar but those walls are so thin you can hear people talking in the lobby and out side. Oh and the continental breakfast is literally toast and cereal.

There are a few really bad things as well, such as pretty expensive especially for a week stay at over$445. That there is no pool which for a property this size is crazy. They are under construction and I sat for 15 mins waiting for a person to check me in only to be told that you have to use a kiosk where you are talking to a person on a screen that checks you in which I didn't like at all. One of my main issues is that the free breakfast that was shown on the website, which is one of the reasons I chose here, has nothing that is shown as the breakfast on the website. It was supposed to have sausage biscuits, oatmeal, fruit, juice, etc. I was there for a week and the only thing that they have is the tired waffles, cereal, milk, toast and coffee.

Ran out as we could after our night. The club nearby makes the parking lot into a block party and there are definitely squatters at the abandoned building behind this place.

Sunday night stay for SIU campus visit and hotel was very quiet; adjacent bar/restaurant was closed during our stay but looks interesting. Lobby, hallways and room are recently refreshed with new carpeting, room flooring, paint, and bathroom surfaces. Service was friendly and everything was very clean. Beds were wonderfully comfortable with decent sheets and a very soft blanket. Breakfast had a decent amount of choice given the few staying that night; looks like more options are offered on weekends. This is a renovated older property (with some renovations of outbuildings still in process) but we felt safe and secure. Overall an excellent value.

The room had dog food on the floor by the bed and by the fridge and the floor was dirty and all the corners were filthy gross. The Tv wouldn't turn on and was damaged with multiple large cracks on 2 different sides. When i checked in there was no staff just a kiosks with a person on the screen working remotely. They took the seperate $100 deposit via a credit card machine sitting on the desk next to the kiosks. Never recived a receipt for the deposit only a piece of paper with the room number wifi info and their charges for smoking or undeclared pets.

I really don’t know how to begin to explain how pitiful this hotel is. It said it was $55 on hotels.com but when we went to book it, it was 150+ tax, which came to about $172. When we came into the hotel, there was about three cars there and was not well lit. When we came into the hotel lobby, there was no one there to greet us and no one working the desk. There was a kiosk and when you walked up to it, a person came on and asked you to pay an additional $100 your card for a room deposit. The first room they gave us room number 114 was like the size of a closet. It was filthy, there was a nasty bathroom. The water was running and it smelled like sewer. A little tiny bed with one pillow one light worked in the whole room. The TV didn’t work. It was just really pathetic. I went back to the kiosk and told the man that we couldn’t accept this room and he told me that he needed to speak to the manager and they gave us another room. We would’ve left then if it hadn’t been for homecoming and Carbondale, there was no rooms available anywhere and it was late. They offered us another room, which was much cleaner two beds, but the bathroom water still ran and smelled. The TV did not work at least there were lights. I told him man at the kiosk and he said he would send a maintenance person over to fix it. I checked back with him in about an hour and he said that something had come up and they’d be there soon. They never came. This place really needs to be condemned.

This place was a complete sxit hole ! The room was dirty and had one light at the entrance as well as it took them 8 hours to make the decision with several callls and a final prompting from the maintenance man to move me .. the tv didn’t work at all and the desk staff was non existent. It’s a computer screen you talk to someone who isn’t even in Illinois… the surrounding area was sketchy as c well seeing what appeared to be drug transactions in the parking lot .. there were cars that came and left without getting out of their vehicles .. I was so disappointed I left without being able to get a refund on my last two days and rented a room at the Holiday Inn

First thing, there was no person to check us in. It was done via a remote kiosk with a person probably out of the country. Had never experienced that. The hotel overall needs some TLC. Painting, entry doors and pavement outdoors is bad. Rooms need to be remodeled. Our room was dirty had stains on the lamp and trash from last guest. The only good thing was that it was close to our wedding venue and the price was good. But I will say that the sheets were clean. Would not stay here again. Do not stay here.

No real front desk attendant (virtual kiosk). You can’t hear what’s being said lobby echoes. Dirty rooms black mold on bathroom curtains, stains on walls, dirty beds with stains not changed entire stay, took 3 hours to get clean towels, lobby smells like pet urine/feces. Continental breakfast was old bread & a gallon of milk & sunny D to be shared by guests (unsanitary). No workers on duty 24/7 if u need something..DONT. People actually live in the hotel.. the building next door is abandoned & the other building is a party area for locals. Terrible dirty hotel! Will neveeeeer book again.

Room floor sticky, smoke detector beeped all night outside room, smoke detector missing in our room, tv not plugged in and then would not work with remote given, curtains broken, no rod to hang clothes in closet area, no one working front desk , linens looked dirty and hair on them , towels left appeared dirty no chair at the desk in room - coffee pods with no coffee maker I would like my Money back please - no one to talk to on property

Not a good hotel, dirty room and mold so bad we had to check out early.

While everything looked nice, underneath, everything was dirty! Crumbs everywhere on the bed. Found a bed bug crawling on me when I woke up.

We booked 1 day over the weekend. There was not many room occupied at this time, and even though we got not nice room at all! The lack wasn’t working at all, everybody could just get in, tha bathtub didn’t look clean, it was a yellow stain ar the bottom , same as a sink, the toilet needed to be flushed twice or three time, due to was backing up. The view outside was terrible…I wouldn’t complain at all if I wouldn’t have a feeling we have gotten the worst room they had. Since There were not many room occupied, why they just didn’t care? We didn’t want to complain at the place, because it was late and we were tired, but this hotel overall has standard of the cheap motel for much higher price.I believe they supposed put some more effort to satisfy the customer since there were not many customers at all. Not recommend.

Hotel in perpetual state of disrepair. Holes in the wall, spots needing touch up paint, water damaged wood. Check in was done through a kiosk with a person on camera. Very difficult to understand him. Breakfast was limited to cereal and toast. Stained sheets. Broken window. Spend your money elsewhere.

Broken a/c, we couldn't adjust, when we asked for more pillows and blankets, we were told there was no housekeeper in staff and I saw a house keeper cleaning a room at that time. I was also told the hotel doesn't stock extra clean blanket or pillows. The parking lot light was in our window all night, illinating the room so we didn't get good sleep. We couldn't shut the curtains, they were "decorative" the smoke alarm would not stop chirping every 2 minutes. Very dissatisfied with the deposit, was not informed there would be a deposit, was was told the deposit would be refunded upon leaving, was told when I was leaving that it would be deposited in 4 days. So I was lied to on the deposite. Very unhappy I booked 2 rooms. There were no humans working to talk to and help aside from the housekeeper who "wasn't there" to help with linins. The WiFi and TV both didn't work. There was only one outlet for the entire room, we had to unplug the mini fridge to use the coffee pot. The vending machine was broken.yhe toiletries were used by previous tenets. You could tell because it was half empty in one room.

Pros: Comfy bed, it did appear clean. Cons: Curtains wouldn’t close all the way so to keep the parking lot lights from shining in had to put the coffee maker on the air unit. The drain plug for the shower wouldn’t stay up so had to stand in a puddle of water. The doors do not close quietly so got woken up several times from people slamming them when they started checking out at 6 am. After showering i barely raised my towel off the bar and it shot off the wall. The smoke detector was dying/beeping when i arrived but they fixed it after i informed them. The floor was sticky by the door. The closet had a duct taped shower rod with one dusty hanger. There is no attention to detail here and it just felt neglected like it needs some TLC. If they would would make legit repairs instead of putting a band-aid on everything it could be a lot better.

No coffee maker in the room as advertised. Trouble with satellite tv working, dead bolt on door would not lock and they had to move us to another room. Trouble with the outlets. Only one plug on one outlet worked on the breakfast bar, had to share it with the waffle maker and coffee pod machine, switching back and forth. First hotel/motel I have ever stayed in with no carpet in the room. Nice wood flooring that was clean, no bed bugs, bathroom was clean and heater worked very well. Not a very attractive place from the outside, but it was ok for 1 night. Very close and convenient to the SIH surgery center, where we were going early the next morning. Located on the northwest out shirts of Carbondale IL, close to stores, restaurants, hospital, and downtown with a 5 minute drive.

We have been there several times. It is clean and affordable which are most important to me. We had to have help to get the tv started ( only waited 10 minutes), but then the volume was stuck at a very loud setting. Also, the air conditioning couldn’t be turned down. it was 58 degrees or turn it off.

There is no staff at all. Just houseekeeping before 2pm. The interent had been out for a week no rooms t.v. worked. Nobody tolds upon checking in. It took me personally 1hr to check it due to payment not being excepted. If you have an issue, its one lady on a room on the 2nd flr who may help you. It was a terrible experience.

Our room had only one light working, all other light bulbs were missing so super limited lightning in the room. TV did not work at all.

Clean and comfortable but the air conditioner needs repaired because it’s making a loud noise. Area near door lock was battered as if someone had previously tried to break in. TV remote was missing. However When I stayed the previous week, none of there problems were existed on another room. Only other thing was breakfast extremely limited and the waffle iron wasn’t clean

Smoke detectors were chirping throughout the hotel. There were no front desk employees only a kiosk. I was afraid to leave my room because another guest was locked out of their room because their key didn’t work and the kiosk couldn’t give them a new one. I would never stay here again.

The check-in and check-out process was terrible. It took 15 minutes to check-in and 20 minutes to check out using an electronic kiosk. At check out the person insisted the hold fee I was charged upon checkin, was paid in cash and I would have to wait until a person thats comes in at 9:30 to get reimbursed..I paid the fee with a credit card..he kept saying no, you paid cash..he was arguing with me about it...he finally called his manager..after several more minutes, he finally comes back and says, your credit card will get credited..no apology..nothing

if i could give zero stars i would. first. no one works the desk. it's an automated kiosk with people in another country checking you in. it was hard to understand what he was saying and took way longer than it should. second they gave me a room that had never been cleaned. so i had to go back to the kiosk and then a lady with a notebook told him which rooms were available and clean. third... these rooms are rough. damaged walls, doors, furniture. the bathroom door would not close at all. i would recommend sleeping in your car before staying here.

What stands out most about this comfortable place to rest is the attention of the staff. The lady who works there offers the best service and is very receptive and attentive, and this is one of the things that is sometimes more important than everything else.

Property undergoing management change so it has to get better. Currently in disrepair and unclean. Kiosk checkin with person living in Asia was strange and impersonal.

There was no actual human staff available on site. I had to check in via a kiosk that connected me to a call center in India via Zoom. I could barely hear anything they were saying and the closed captions did not work either. The AC went out and i ended up getting a refund and cancelling my reservation. Do not stay here.

The hotel was clean but the problem started with the check-in process. The kiosk is not the answer. Next the door does not latch without applying extreme force which may be a result of the humidity level in the room. The ac works but there was a cool mist in the room. Finally don't do the deposit with a credit card it's been 5 business days and I still have not seen my refund.

By no means a fancy place, but for what I paid it was worth it. The bed was comfortable and the shower worked well. It was very quiet, likely because the university is on break. The location worked well for me too.

The neighborhood is very sketchy. The only staff was a guy on a kiosk. He wanted me to pay although I had already payed through Expedia. I slept in my car that night and found another place the following night. Expedia refunded the money to me, so no complaints there.

Right next to a rowdy bar that lets out around 50 people at 1:30 am. Room has damage galore and no actual attendant on duty, just a kiosk. Breakfast is decent though and it's pretty quiet during the day. Also a kid breaking bottles against the abandoned building next door after 1 am is a lil wild. I told him chill out and he left though so all good I guess.Water pressure not great.

This property is next to a nightclub and when we parked at hotel the overflow parking for nightclub was very concerning. We sat in our car for 30 minutes while a drunk guy driving pulled up to puke and another car was just sitting there…and two girls got out and actually fist fought

The good: One of the cheaper hotels in Carbondale; convenient to both SIU and Shawnee National Forest; kiosk staff were friendly and helped where they could; breakfast was 6:30-9:30, a decent window so most people should be able to grab something. The bad: They use remote kiosks at the front desk instead of in person. Since they're remote, if there's a problem with your room, the most they can do is pass the issue to management. Rarely saw anybody behind the front desk in person while I was there. My bathroom lightbulb needed changing and I had to ask twice to get it changed. On the second to last day of my stay, my toilet developed an issue where it wouldn't flush and would leak water on the floor. Told the front desk about it but the issue wasn't corrected before I left, had to use lobby bathroom instead. The soaps they give you are tiny and fragile. The soap in the lobby bathroom is basically a pump bottle of water. While I never had the breakfast, from what I could see it was pretty much toast, bagels, cereal, milk, and sunny D for orange juice. No sausage or eggs or anything like that. I could hear thumping music in the lobby, likely from the bar next door. Lobby chairs are a bit run down.

The price here remains a great value. The rest still needs work, but i do think they are trying. The individuals operating the check-in kiosk, for example, seemed more friendly than last time. The area behind the hotel (my room faced that direction), however, needs a major clean-up. I will continue to patronize the place given the value/effort

I stayed here a year ago while they were under construction. This year it seems like most of the construction is complete. My room reeked of cigarette smoke and the window was left open to air it out. I didn't;t request a room change because the hotel was supposed to be full. Basic accommodations and no extra accessible outlets for my phone to charge especially near the night stand. No hair dryer in the room to use in the morning. Breakfast area was closed by 8:45am on Saturday.

If all you are looking for is a cheap place to sleep for the night, this can work. Otherwise, it's garbage. It's a dirty and beat up facility. TV didn't work, lights were out. Also, don't let the free continental breakfast fool you. It was the absolute bare minimum. In fact, they had open gallons of milk and Sunny D in the small refrigerator. Seemed pretty darn unsanitary to me. I didn't touch it.
