A Symphony of Malfunction - The house of DisrepairWhere to even start on this one. Nearly everything on this house is in some state of disrepair. The stove and oven didn’t work at all our entire trip, and while the property manager offered to have someone come out the last day of our stay to look at it we declined. Probably the worst stocked kitchen I have seen, but didn’t matter because…..no stove. No doors shut, outside areas were all dirty. Trash from the last residents still in the backyard. Trains all night long. Will never stay again, and advise you don’t either.

After check-in, we attempted to turn on the heat because it was cold. The heat didn't come on nor did the gas turn on when trying to turn on the stove top. We went 2 nights without heat/gas. The security/locks in the house aren't good either. We left the house and locked the door and returned to an unlocked door. We were also in the house and locked the door and a couple of us that stayed there could walk into the house even after we locked it. The steps are also uneven and not fun to walk up and down after long traveling.

Stairs outside and inside are steep and uneven. Floors are uneven. Everything is a little grimy. Sheets and towels are old and need to be replaced. No hand towels or kitchen towels. Hair everywhere. Found garbage on the floor when we got there. Close to a fire station and train tracks, so very noisy. Burn holes in one set of sheets. Shower was unclean. Pots and pans are worn out and very grimy. Many interior doors do not latch closed. Attic bedroom has no door. No railing on steep, uneven stairs outside. Bug fell onto stove while we were attempting to cook breakfast. Everything is made for tall people.

Worst rental experience-This was our first visit to Birmingham and we traveled in from out of state with 2 school age kids. We were excited & at the store getting snacks & groceries just before our 4pm check in when we found out that there was a plumbing/maintenance issue in the house that we rented. They offered for us to stay in a near property for the night so they could fix things in the home. I was trying to make the best of the trip & accepted for the night. The new property was not equal in comparison. It was in a very sketchy side of town with a lot of “squatters” all around. You could hear people next door and outside all around talking. There was a tenant upstairs that you could hear every step they took as well as when they flush or turn on water. The floors were covered in black which rubbed off on our feet and socks. The bedrooms up stairs weren’t enclosed & only separated w/ dividers. They told me at the store I would need to buy ground coffee & filters if I wanted coffee..however ..the property was missing a coffee pot. It was the worst sleep of all of our lives. I messaged the agency that night to let them know how awful things were going & I can't continue to stay there - we had to be able to check into the house we rented asap or would need a refund…it’s days later & I’ve followed up many times for the refund amount & status but I still have not rec’d. This was the most stressful rental and rental company never had a viable solution nor answer.
