Staff was great. Arranged a scooter rental for us, delivered right to the hotel. Property itself was very nice, and well maintained. The upper deck by the rooftop pool could use a little TLC. It was pretty quiet, pools were nice, especially on those 30 afternoons. The hotel is halfway between the beach zone and the main Tulum strip. There's a great grocery store within walking distance. Very safe area. Rooms were spacious, well kept, my only complaint is that the shower didn't get hot enough. We will be back next year.

If you’re thinking about booking this property, just do it. From the moment you get there to the time you leave they treat you so kindly. The amenities and extra special things are what make the stay. Daily happy hour, tortilla making classes, and the bikes available to explore Tulum. The location was perfect for us, nestled in between the beach and town, which was what we were looking for. If you’re looking for a beach resort this isn’t the one for you, but if you enjoy exploring different areas then it is perfect. Rooms are clean and cool with nice balconies. The pools are great for a dip after a day of adventuring. The front desk will set you up with rides or if you are interested in any tours (we did a chichen itza and cenote tour). We did a tortilla making class that was incredible, shout out to Nayeli who shared her love of cooking and Mexico. 10-15 min bike to downtown and 15-20 min bike to the beach. We used the associated beach club and also biked to the Tulum Ruins one day and it was a great way to get there. Tons of water stations around the hotel for you to fill up your bottles, etc.

We had such a pleasant stay at the Kimpton Aluna! The room is spacious, with 2 clean outdoor pools. I really appreciate that the bicycles are free so we can explore downtown Tulum and go to local restaurants. The receptionists were so helpful in recommending us cenotes and beaches to go to, which turned out to be the highlight of our trip. I'd definitely stay here again if I come back to Tulum.

We loved the location of the Aluna- quiet, feeling of being in the jungle. The plants are well maintained. The staff is actually wonderful- but we happened to have visited during a slow season. While there is a bar in the pool, it wasn’t staffed, which left the inside bartender and servers a bit overwhelmed. It certainly wasn’t the fault of the staff, and I don’t blame the management for making that staffing decision. However, my only requirement in picking a hotel was that it had a swim up bar, and I was disappointed. We did not like the food. Too much stuff on everything. An omelette with cheese is a beautiful thing- great food doesn’t have to be complex, trendy, or fusion. The kitchen staff was great for a la carte orders, but the food on the breakfast buffet was really complex with lots of sautéed vegetables and sauces and cheeses already on it, instead of on the side. Is it fancy and beautiful- yes! Are your kids going to eat it? That’s a hard sell. One thing that we noticed is that there is a water treatment plant next to the hotel property. You could smell it across the parking lot near that side of some of the rooms. No smell in the pool area at all. Rooms were fine. But if you have one of the rooms farther back, you will smell it if you leave your room. There isn’t anything the hotel could do about this. And as I’m writing this, my dogs found skunks, so let me just say that water treatment odor is way less of an issue than the way my backyard smells now.

The hotel was great and staff were great but a) the floors were a poor choice given open walls and getting rained on, they got very slippery many days, they need floors with more grip and/or to close off the sides better from rain. b) they had an in pool bar we wanted to try but they never had a bartender staffing the bar so we never got to try it… it seemed really nice and we should have explicitly asked about it sooner and they might have sent someone but we kept waiting until the second to last day and they said maybe tomorrow, at which point it was too late.

The Kimpton Hotel is a true gem! My best friend and I stayed here for a birthday getaway, and it was fantastic. The rooms were beautifully decorated, and the breakfast was delicious, especially the made-to-order omelet. There were plenty of electric sockets available to charge our devices. The hotel is centrally located, making it easy to access shops, dining options, and tourist sites. We received excellent recommendations for beach clubs, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. The rooftop bar offered the best sunset views it’s a must-see! We loved the complimentary bicycles that allowed us to explore the town without needing a car. Ground floor room was spacious and had its own patio with sun loungers and direct access to pool. Rooftop pool was quiet and comfortable. Staff were friendly, helpful and impecably polite. Hotel has a jungly vibe with palm trees everywhere and thatched roffs which make ut very attractive

This hotel property is gorgeous, with 2 open-air buildings, lush greenery and a beautiful ground floor pool with a swim up bar. The staff is extra helpful and I appreciated the welcoming ceremony upon arrival. However, the area isn’t the safest (compared to the previous hotel I stayed at about 10-15 mins away) because my kids and I were advised to “be back before dark” when we walked to nearby Carls Jr. for dinner one evening. Also my iPad was pickpocketed from my bag while waiting for the tour van to arrive at a nearby supermarket. There were other things within the hotel itself that were less than satisfactory — there were two cockroaches (I think they were cockroaches in my room), one in the shower and one on the floor (only got a pic of the one on the floor). Also there were a lot of leaves in the pool as if it wasn’t cleaned often. Other than that, everyone at the hotel is extremely nice. The food is amazing! (But expensive) Beware of the “resort fees”—something I didn’t see or wasn’t clearly mentioned when booking on Expedia.

The Kimpton Aluna was a great place to stay near the beaches and DT Tulum. Rooms are spotless and friendly for the price. The food here was delicious. They also have a social hour every day with free drinks and food. Helpful staff that will help you reserve excursions or restaurants. I would definitely recommend this place. FYI, the area around it is under construction, so it might feel a bit undone. I'm sure in a few years this area will transform.

The rooms are large and comfortable, and the courtyard is genuinely lovely — there’s a lot of potential here. Unfortunately, the overall experience falls short of what the property could be. Staffing is very limited, and service suffers as a result. The rooftop pool in particular feels like a missed opportunity: it’s virtually impossible to get a drink, and the area itself has clearly seen better days. Breakfast is extremely basic — honestly closer to a Holiday Inn level than what you’d expect from a hotel like this. The free bicycles are, regrettably, among the worst we’ve encountered in Tulum. With a bit more attention, investment, and presence on the service side, this could be a very good hotel. As it stands, it feels neglected, which is a shame given how much it has going for it.

Great stay at Kimpton Aluna Tulum! Jonathan and Jesus at reception were super friendly and helpful, and Charlie at Parallel restaurant was kind and attentive. The hotel is clean, stylish, and relaxing. Only wish the balconies were more soundproof, as some guests were a bit loud. Overall, loved the service and vibe here!

Really lovely hotel and staff. I arrived in a mood. My suitcase was busted. My Airbnb had turned out to be crap. Juan greeted me in the driveway with a smile and a cool drink. They took care of my bags. I was shown to a very clean and comfortable room in moments. Staff came around to clean daily. Staying at the Kimpton was just the reset I needed.

The property was visually appealing and so peaceful. The staff was incredibly kind. This hotel is ideal for a relaxing and peaceful getaway, especially if you don’t mind the presence of children. My only concern was a strong odor of mold or mildew that became noticeable while I was sleeping, which was quite unbearable. I recommend addressing this issue with maintenance.

The Kimpton Aluna was a great place to stay near the beaches and DT Tulum. Rooms are spotless and friendly for the price. The food here was delicious. They also have a social hour every day with free drinks and food. Helpful staff that will help you reserve excursions or restaurants. I would definitely recommend this place. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and willing to go above and beyond to help us with whatever we wanted or needed. The hotel is clean, beautiful and peaceful. Our room was aesthetically pleasing, had all that we needed and the bed was large and comfortable. The bikes they have available made riding anywhere in town a breeze!!

Great stay at Kimpton Aluna Tulum! Jonathan and Jesus at reception were super friendly and helpful, and Charlie at Parallel restaurant was kind and attentive. The hotel is clean, stylish, and relaxing. Only wish the balconies were more soundproof, as some guests were a bit loud. Overall, loved the service and vibe here!

Staff was great. Arranged a scooter rental for us, delivered right to the hotel. Property itself was very nice, and well maintained. The upper deck by the rooftop pool could use a little TLC. It was pretty quiet, pools were nice, especially on those 30 afternoons. The hotel is halfway between the beach zone and the main Tulum strip. There's a great grocery store within walking distance. Very safe area. Rooms were spacious, well kept, my only complaint is that the shower didn't get hot enough. We will be back next year.

The property is well maintained we stayed in a one bedroom suite I highly recommend. Nice large balcony with jacuzzi. A/C worked amazing. The staff is top notch. They are extremely attentive with anything you could ever need. They are very happy to help and they are always smiling and courteous. This hotel exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend.

Our first room was below the rooftop bar and we could hear service late into the night. They kindly moved us rooms and it was near perfect. The bed was mildly uncomfortable (but most hotel beds are) and the food was average for the higher cost. We found really great local cuisine. 8.5/10 would recommend.

Really lovely hotel and staff. I arrived in a mood. My suitcase was busted. My Airbnb had turned out to be crap. Juan greeted me in the driveway with a smile and a cool drink. They took care of my bags. I was shown to a very clean and comfortable room in moments. Staff came around to clean daily. Staying at the Kimpton was just the reset I needed.

FLL airport was closed due to weather, I called this property to notify I couldn’t arrive for my girls trip. They wouldn’t accommodate with a credit and or refund, terrible customer service. How can one stay if the airport is closed, how can I arrive. Very disappointed 😢 that they couldn’t accommodate due to a rare issue of the whole airport being closed.

Hotel is located next to multiple construction sides, the area is basically under construction. Very far away from the beach, restaurant in the hotel as well as outside were super expensive. I hurt my finger by getting it between the unsafe terrace door - front desk did claim to not have bandaids (no first aid kits??) and sent me to convenience store. Felt pretty unsafe afterwards as they do not seem to be able to accommodate even the smallest emergencies. Absolutely not worth 260$ (!!!) per night.

Wonderful customer service!!! If you’re looking to relax- this is the place to be! The only downside is you need to take a taxi to go to the beach and taxis are not the most budget friendly in Tulum. Other places near hotel with a doable short walk when it’s not too hot ir raining.

We loved the location of the Aluna- quiet, feeling of being in the jungle. The plants are well maintained. The staff is actually wonderful- but we happened to have visited during a slow season. While there is a bar in the pool, it wasn’t staffed, which left the inside bartender and servers a bit overwhelmed. It certainly wasn’t the fault of the staff, and I don’t blame the management for making that staffing decision. However, my only requirement in picking a hotel was that it had a swim up bar, and I was disappointed. We did not like the food. Too much stuff on everything. An omelette with cheese is a beautiful thing- great food doesn’t have to be complex, trendy, or fusion. The kitchen staff was great for a la carte orders, but the food on the breakfast buffet was really complex with lots of sautéed vegetables and sauces and cheeses already on it, instead of on the side. Is it fancy and beautiful- yes! Are your kids going to eat it? That’s a hard sell. One thing that we noticed is that there is a water treatment plant next to the hotel property. You could smell it across the parking lot near that side of some of the rooms. No smell in the pool area at all. Rooms were fine. But if you have one of the rooms farther back, you will smell it if you leave your room. There isn’t anything the hotel could do about this. And as I’m writing this, my dogs found skunks, so let me just say that water treatment odor is way less of an issue than the way my backyard smells now.

Great hotel for a short stay in Tulum, room was very big and spacious. Rooms are pretty clean and presentable. Bike rental was great for us to save a couple $ on local transport. Walkable to some decent dining options on the south side of the main drag. Pretty easy bike ride down to the beach. The road the hotel is on isn’t illuminated at night but we felt very safe around the area generally.

This hotel property is gorgeous, with 2 open-air buildings, lush greenery and a beautiful ground floor pool with a swim up bar. The staff is extra helpful and I appreciated the welcoming ceremony upon arrival. However, the area isn’t the safest (compared to the previous hotel I stayed at about 10-15 mins away) because my kids and I were advised to “be back before dark” when we walked to nearby Carls Jr. for dinner one evening. Also my iPad was pickpocketed from my bag while waiting for the tour van to arrive at a nearby supermarket. There were other things within the hotel itself that were less than satisfactory — there were two cockroaches (I think they were cockroaches in my room), one in the shower and one on the floor (only got a pic of the one on the floor). Also there were a lot of leaves in the pool as if it wasn’t cleaned often. Other than that, everyone at the hotel is extremely nice. The food is amazing! (But expensive) Beware of the “resort fees”—something I didn’t see or wasn’t clearly mentioned when booking on Expedia.

We absolutely loved our stay at this property! Our group came to celebrate a friend’s birthday and love the boutique, secluded feel of the hotel while also having direct access to food/nightlife. Everything we did was ~15 mins away. The on-site pool, bike rentals, restaurant, etc. were also really nice. Advice for future guests… - Bring your bug spray. The mosquitoes were pretty bad while we were there. To be fair, it had also rained our first day. - After booking, ask the hotel about shuttle service. They connected us with a family owned shuttle service who were initially only supposed to take us to and from the airport to the hotel, but they were so amazing that we ended up using their services for our entire trip. They’re a 24 hour company. 5 star experience with them.

The staff is extra helpful and I appreciated the welcoming ceremony upon arrival. However, the area isn’t the safest (compared to the previous hotel I stayed at about 10-15 mins away) because my kids and I were advised to “be back before dark” when we walked to nearby Carls Jr. for dinner one evening. Also my iPad was pickpocketed from my bag while waiting for the tour van to arrive at a nearby supermarket. There were other things within the hotel itself that were less than satisfactory — there were two cockroaches (I think they were cockroaches in my room), one in the shower and one on the floor (only got a pic of the one on the floor). Also there were a lot of leaves in the pool as if it wasn’t cleaned often. Other than that, everyone at the hotel is extremely nice. The food is amazing! (But expensive) Beware of the “resort fees”—something I didn’t see or wasn’t clearly mentioned when booking on Expedia.

Staff were all amazing, especially Luis. Very helpful and kind. Fish tacos at the restaurant are great! Buffet breakfast was good. Beds are very comfortable, room came with balcony which was nice.

The staff are the absolute best! I was welcomed with a delicious beverage and a cool towel. Check-in and check-out were a breeze and the staff was always willing to help with transportation, room service, and recommendations. The breakfast buffet was perfect every day and the lunch and dinner options always hit the spot. I can’t wait to come back!

The rooms are large and comfortable, and the courtyard is genuinely lovely — there’s a lot of potential here. Unfortunately, the overall experience falls short of what the property could be. Staffing is very limited, and service suffers as a result. The rooftop pool in particular feels like a missed opportunity: it’s virtually impossible to get a drink, and the area itself has clearly seen better days. Breakfast is extremely basic — honestly closer to a Holiday Inn level than what you’d expect from a hotel like this. The free bicycles are, regrettably, among the worst we’ve encountered in Tulum. Perfect location - not far by bike or cab to the beaches. Lots of sargassum on the beach when we went so we’re happy not to be staying by it. Close to town. Very safe area. Staff are friendly, rooms are clean and big. Pool is great fun. Breakfast each day (included for us) was excellent. Would stay here again for sure. Cabs cost about $20/$25USD to beach or town but you ride a bike (free) or walk.

Great location and amenities. Two fantastic pools, onsite restaurant with great staff and food. Delicious breakfast with lots of options in the morning.
