We have been to Friendly Vallarta for the past several years and have always been very happy there. The waiters and service staff is the best it can be. Friendly has always been short on beach/ lounge chairs but recent changes has made the problem worse. So many lounge/ beach chairs have been removed and replaced with awkward very uncomfortable patio furniture and queen size beds. In talking to many repeat guests at Friendly this new patio furniture and awkward beds all over the place has been an epic fail. The patio furniture is just plain odd, very uncomfortable and is set in a grouping to accommodate 8 or more people but a lot of times only 2 people we sitting in these groups of furniture because nobody wanted to invade their personal space. I am sorry but the beds are just gross and now a queen size bed is taking up the space where four lounge chairs used to sit. This resort is now so short on lounge chairs that we had to get up by 6 am to reserve a pool or beach chair. Only to have \'Chair Police" hovering over our pool chairs just waiting to pull our towels and personal items off our chairs if we decided to stay too long at breakfast. A resort constantly getting bad reviews because of chair shortages has to be one of the easiest things a resort could fix. Another disappointment over the past couple of years is a very repetitive evening buffet. Please bring back the pasta/ stir fry station. And play age appropriate music around the resort, your music sucks.

Nice location by the beach. Easy to talk to the ocean. Some of the restaurants were good, others were not so great. Not enough room at the pool for the number of guests. It was impossible to get a cabana since people would reserve one and be gone for hours.

The staff are friendly and accommodating. The facilities are well kept and a fun vibe for all ages. It’s a 15-20min Uber to Downtown. HOWEVER, my biggest issue is there’s only one bar at night and there’s no server service. You can only order one thing at a time at the bar. One cocktail and a shot? Nope. Not allowed. This means that you have to finish your cocktail then get back in line for another 10-20min queue since it’s the only bar open. Disappointing since you're paying for all-inclusive and never really had this problem with others hotels.

The buffet food selections were good and staff were very helpful in particular the wait staff around the pools and buffets. A la carte selection is limited. The view from the resort is beautiful. There are many options off the resort to walk to or take a taxi too. There is easy access to boat excursions. Evening entertainment was limited most nights to a techno DJ. However there was a fire show one night and a live band without outdoor buffet and flea market that was awesome. I liked that there was the option for a pool for families and pools for adults only along a warmer pool and a hot tub. If you’re a nighthawk or early bird you won’t find too much food or beverages accessible. Loved the cabana set ups in the pool area and then more the the loungers and umbrellas closer to the beach.

There was NO evening entertainment or activities. Only about 6 horribly uncomfortable chairs at the lobby bar and 2 tables. The area was cordoned off with wooden benches…clearly not for sitting but to make the area uninviting. There might have been 25 loungers around the pool, and if you wanted one, you had to get up at 0630 and put your towel on them.

Fantastic hotel, we loved that it was pet-friendly, our dog loved to walk out the pedestrian entrance. Beautiful clean and well-furnished room (plenty of space for our travel crib), wonderful staff, clean pool and facilities. My wife is celiac and the restaurant team took amazing care of her (especially Beatriz & Raul :) even homemade gluten-free brownies and bread! We were blown away, can't wait to come back. Muchas gracias a todos!

I am very disappointed in this hotel. The room is horrible. The AC was so loud I couldn’t sleep and it didn’t cool the room adequately. The temperature stayed at 24 degrees! We had 3 guests and only were given two towels for the shower no face cloths. The music by the pool was obnoxious. There are not enough loungers by the pool.. and what few there were, had people’s things strewn all over them so you couldn’t use them. I stayed only 1 night and checked in somewhere else the next day. Also there were Pigeons everywhere including inside the restaurants ATM on site didn’t work. Hotel would not give me a refund for two nights that I didn’t stay. I immediately requested a partial refund only an hour after I checked in and was told I had to contact Expedia. Expedia took 24 hours to get back to me only to tell me the hotel refused a refund. Save yourself a ruined trip and go somewhere else.

We just stayed there for a week and it was terrible! The room had a lovely view but was super basic; the beds were uncomfortable and the room itself was very musty smelling with barely- there air conditioning no matter how cool/ cold we set the temperature. The walls between rooms are super thin and it was very noisy. The food in the buffet restaurants was absolutely terrible! Cold food was warm, hot food items were room-temp. Only good dining was the reservation-only restaurant, the taco bar and the breakfast omelette bar. Overall, the place looked clean but the pools were filthy and the gym had an awful smell. I would not stay here again nor would I recommend to friends.

The property itself is very well maintained. The tower is the referbished while the 2 side wings are being upgraded. Staff extremely friendly and welcoming. Beach beautiful and clean. Food was delicious but often was like warm. I like it hot! Selection very good. The lobby area was beautiful with a wonderful cool breeze we loved. The adult bar and pool area was a lot of fun!! Their serloin steak burger was fantastic. Events changed daily and was wonderful. Just the older rooms were tired. I'd do it again!!

While the property is a bit older they do a great job of maintaining everything. Checking in was 5 min or less as was checkout. The room was always clean with everything you need. The pool was always busy as was the adults only area. The Beach was great for sitting in the sun, buying from the vendors and swimming. The wait staff is AMAZING! Everywhere we went to eat or sit and drink the staff is on it. Their staff really are friendly and make this resort worth it!

My stay at friendly was heaven. The grounds were beautiful. The staff was great. The food was WAY better than I was expecting. I have stomach issues and I felt great during my entire stay. I was able to get a massage on the beach every day (Erika is excellent. Not associated with the hotel) The only issue is we found a tiny field mouse in our room on our last night. Maintenance took care of it quickly but it was jarring.

1. Walkin shower had large gap at bottom of door so the bathroom floor was very wet every time after showering. 2. Sewer gases came up from bathroom sink drain. 3. The ajoining rooms had no privacy. Conversations and sounds came in very clearly through the hollow ajoining door. 4. Food was the same every day. Beef and pork were tough. 5. Birds were in the restaurants and eating uncovered food on buffet and on leftovers on plates, 6. Lounge beds were saved and unused most of day while people spent time in the pool or on the beach.

There are not enough loungers by the pool.. and what few there were, had people’s things strewn all over them so you couldn’t use them. I stayed only 1 night and checked in somewhere else the next day. Also there were Pigeons everywhere including inside the restaurants ATM on site didn’t work. Hotel would not give me a refund for two nights that I didn’t stay. I immediately requested a partial refund only an hour after I checked in and was told I had to contact Expedia. Expedia took 24 hours to get back to me only to tell me the hotel refused a refund. Save yourself a ruined trip and go somewhere else.

Stayed here for 2 nights and I can say that this resort is a decent. Nothing extraordinary but not bad either. It gets crowded during the day because there are many folks with "vistor" passes. Not a lot to do in the resort, although there is a Spa, a gym and there are some activites happening throughout the day near the pool area but nothing worth your time. The pool was good. The food was alright. There are options for vegetarians too, so that is good. The staff is good and friendly and focussed on their jobs (rather than focussed on getting "tips" from the guests for doing the the bare mininum). The rooms deserve some renovation and interior designing. The bed was just okay. The bathroom area was good. The wifi service is very poor throughout the resort, they really need to improve it. There is no room service, so one must eat at the restaurents only. Overall it's a 3/5, and hence can be called expensive, considering the quality is not up to the mark.

Some good, some bad. Staff is wonderful! The food I was able to sample was delicious and well prepared. A lot of Mexican style dishes that are delicious. It's a very NOISY resort. Constant bingo games, pool games with extremely loud whistle's blowing and more. There is never any peace and quiet, speakers hang everywhere . You can't escape the constant loud, club style music, except early mornings. They discriminate against solo travelers! 3 mornings in a row I called down to make reservations to the 2 restaurants that require them. After telling the agent that it was for one person I was told the earliest seating was 9p each time. That sounded suspicious so I went downstairs and called from a house phone about 5 minutes later and got the same agent and told her it was for 4 people and got a 6p reservation. However, when I showed up for my reservation they tried to sit me with a couple that had two extra chairs. When I asked to have my own table they said no, they were reserved. I left and did not get to experience any of the restaurants during my stay that required reservations. I get trying to maximize the tables but it is unfair to those traveling alone requiring them to wait until 9pm to eat. My room did not have a bathroom mirror. Hard to believe I know, but it's true. It also did not have a safe. It was a nice gesture from front desk to allow me to utilize the all inclusive benefits even after checking out until my pickup to the airport later in the afternoon.

The pillows were a bit rough so we went across the street to the grocery store and brought soft pillows about once a day we had to go and get new cards because they kept resetting sometimes twice a day. It would help that they label what the food is that you’re eating at the buffet you don’t know. They also took away the french fries and the burgers and the pizza that you could regularly get. No more strawberry daiquiris and piña coladas at will. And as adults we couldn’t have food delivered to the beach like we used to or up by the pool you had to sit at designated tables. It seems everything is taken a turn for the worse. Unfortunately, we used to love coming here. It was my third time overall but we won’t be back . However the kindness of the people from the workers there was always as expected. They really are wonderful people. ❤️

Fantastic hotel, we loved that it was pet-friendly, our dog loved to walk out the pedestrian entrance. Beautiful clean and well-furnished room (plenty of space for our travel crib), wonderful staff, clean pool and facilities. My wife is celiac and the restaurant team took amazing care of her (especially Beatriz & Raul :) even homemade gluten-free brownies and bread! We were blown away, can't wait to come back. While the property is a bit older they do a great job of maintaining everything. Checking in was 5 min or less as was checkout. The room was always clean with everything you need. The pool was always busy as was the adults only area. The Beach was great for sitting in the sun, buying from the vendors and swimming. The wait staff is AMAZING! Everywhere we went to eat or sit and drink the staff is on it. Their staff really are friendly and make this resort worth it!

After checking the reviews for all the properties in our price range in PVR we settled on this one. Family of 4 with 2 teenage kids. Beach was great and water swimmable compared to others along the bay. You can walk for hours along the beach too! Paddleboarding and kayaking available for free. There are not any extravagant nightly shows. Music is playing pretty much all day with it getting louder around 830pm. Depending on where your room is located, I can see that noise may be an issue when trying to sleep. Definitely bring ear plugs just in case. We were in the tower and didn't find the music bothersome. Some have stated that the food options weren't great. We didn't have a problem finding something to eat everyday. The woodfired pizza is handy as you don't need to go into a restaurant to get it. We visted both a la cartes. Azul was the best one and we went there twice. Teenager from our group was sick his first night there and my daughter was sick our last night there. Assuming food was the culprit...You do have to get up early to claim a cabana. Pool water temps were perfect! Drink service around the pool was fantastic. Rooms are basic but clean and have everything you need except a microwave. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Location is close to shopping and airport. We used Uber everywhere and our friends used taxi. Sometimes the taxi was cheaper than the uber. I'm sure I'm forgetting something but would visit again!

We loved our time here but they could change a couple things. They have no place to play cards and the main area is so noisy chairs and voices echo and are almost unbearable. The food was good, taco restaurant was Awsome. The barbecues were well done, had delicious fish one night, another a fiesta which was great. Didn’t try the specialty restaurants. The main thing, at this resort, I didn’t like was that food in the buffet was always luke warm and the pizza was always cold even slices near the bulb. Other guests I talked to also noticed this so they would get food made fresh at the grill. However I loved the taco restaurant upstairs by the lobby and the outdoor bbqs were great. The oil and vinegar containers on the table needed to be cleaned more often. They had the best margaritas that I’ve had at any resort and I loved warm adult pool temperature. There are lots of shady bed spots if you prefer not to get as much sun. No real card playing tables available… everyone made due with the high long tables in the lobby bar but it was very noisy there at night as sounds echoed. The coffee bar and pastries were great ! The staff is very friendly.

Need to keep families NEXT to each other. We were separated by one room and another 2 parties were between us. They were blasted the music two nights in a row and we had to call security. My daughters stayed between the two noisy and rude parties and that made me very nervous.

What a breath of fresh air. We did not have good accomodations at Crown Paradise Golden and was transferred free of any charges to Friendly Fun Vallarta. Friendly Fun was clean, well lit, the staff was attentive and very professional. Our room was clean, no gnats. There were several bars and restaurants to serve you. The adult side was very clean and low key, hardly any adults in the area, they were all with kids on the otherside. Morning coffee bars had all sorts of coffees and teas along with danishes and sweets. This is open all day and evening. The buffet changed up items daily. The pasta dishes and local dishes were excellent. Food could have been a bit hotter if you did not order off of the grill. Excellent omelets every morning. What a breath of fresh air. We did not have good accomodations at Crown Paradise Golden and was transferred free of any charges to Friendly Fun Vallarta. Friendly Fun was clean, well lit, the staff was attentive and very professional. Our room was clean, no gnats. There were several bars and restaurants to serve you. The adult side was very clean and low key, hardly any adults in the area, they were all with kids on the otherside. Morning coffee bars had all sorts of coffees and teas along with danishes and sweets. This is open all day and evening. The buffet changed up items daily. The pasta dishes and local dishes were excellent. Food could have been a bit hotter if you did not order off of the grill. Excellent omelets every morning.
