It's crucial to know what the Moxy is, and what it isn't. If you want a standard front-desk/concierge experience, with a lobby and porters, keep looking. If you want a dresser to store your clothes in, keep looking. If you want a room service menu and service, keep looking. If you want a bathtub, keep looking. If you want a mini-fridge or microwave in your room, keep looking. If you want a coffeemaker, keep looking. (There is a water cooker and instant coffee, however.) If you want a staffed restaurant, keep looking. If you want a pool, keep looking. However, if you want a hassle-free stay in a small, clean room with very little storage but also with a nice shower, plenty of linens, and super convenient for taxi, bus, walking, and Uber availability - this is a great choice. The staff are mostly what this Boomer would call kids. But these "kids" are efficient, friendly, and willing to go the extra mile. My stay was fantastic, and if I'm in the city again, I'll likely choose the Moxy.

Had a great stay over the Easter weekend. Hotel staff were great and we were even lucky enough to have nice weather so we could utilise the terrace and bar on the top floor at watch the sun set, beautiful!

Very clean, comfortable and had a new and young feel. Room did not have fridge, micro or safe, but there’s was a micro and lockers in lobby to use. Breakfast buffet had about everything and bar in lobby was also reception desk.

The place is super clean and tidy. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Very close to POI like The Royal Mile. Easy access to buses. Downside is the parking. Tip for travellers checking in @ Moxy, drop your things off first to the hotel then go park at their designated car park. It’s about 10 mins walk.

Good location. Was a bit worried as other reviewers said rooms were small but they were not at all. Similar size to premier innn or travel lodge. Very friendly helpful staff, loved the ironing room (much better than usual crappy iron in bedroom) and rooftop bar was cool

Loved the moxy hotel. Location is walkable to old town and other areas. Easy transport to airport and train station. We arrived early snd were pleasantly surprised and grateful to be offered to check in early. We looked forward to getting back and relaxing downstairs. Food was great . A very huge selection for breakfast. Fun hotel with foosball and games. The rooftop bar is wonderful. We also used the gym facilities. I particularly enjoyed using the punching bag. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back.

Cosy little room, clean and well equipped! Perfectly situated and everything is in walking distance from this hotel. Train, busses and tram are also just a short walk away if going out of town. Highly recommend.

Nice hotel but very disappointing room service Room serviced very late one day and not at all the next! Used towels and rubbish from room left outside door all night! Box of tissues empty for duration of stay Inadequate supply of toilet tissue,in fact ran out on one occasion When room was not serviced,we complained to front desk where then I was handed towels and toilet tissue which I had to bring back to the room myself! Very much a self service hotel,not what I would expect from a Marriott hotel!

The location is good for being in between Murrayfield and shopping area. Cleanliness is good and toiletries provided were nice. Shower pressure was poor. Rooms are too small. No storage for personal items. Its cheap small tables at bedside and a rail to hang clothes. Would be ok for one or two days but no more.

Really expensive for the quality of stay we had. Poor soundproofing of other rooms, ridiculously noisy air con, uncomfortable / loud creaky beds, tv wasn’t working so had to move rooms, cleaner didn’t clean our room. Paid a lot of money so would expect better. Great for location, not much else.

I was excited about this hotel, but it was a huge disappointment. It’s all style with little substance. The breakfast buffet was overcrowded every morning, with items missing daily—plates, cutlery, bread, milk, and juice. Saturday was a disaster, with people sitting all over the dining and reception areas. The single juice machine and two coffee machines caused constant queues, and the food, when stocked, was just okay. The water for tea was lukewarm on two mornings, which is unacceptable. The rooms look good in photos but are poorly designed. There’s no space to store clothes or luggage—just an open rail. The bathrooms are tiny and impractical, with no place to hang wet towels. Room turndown service was the worst we’ve encountered. One day, it wasn’t done by 3 pm, and we had to ask the receptionist to ensure it was done when we went out. The next day, the room still wasn’t ready by 4 pm, and we got a knock at 6 pm—way too late. This hotel is a titanic fail. It’s designed for style, not practicality, and simply isn’t equipped for the number of guests. Save yourself the frustration and book somewhere else.

Friendly and helpful young staff although they seemed short-staffed. Check-in is at the bar so they were busy with checking in guests and taking food and drinks orders. My room had a comfortable big bed, bathroom was clean and modern, the shower floor was quite slippery. Nice hair dryer available. I had a large suitcase and had to improvise with a footstool and a small folding luggage rack to open it. There were 4 clothes hangers but had I wanted more I'm sure they would have given me some had I asked. I mention these things because if you are looking for a closet and bureau to unpack your clothes there's none. However, the room was large and comfortable, it was quiet, Wi-Fi was easily accessible, television had a few channels but I wasn't there to watch TV. LED motion-activated lights came on under the bed. Breakfast was good with warm options, breads and sweet rolls, croissants, cold cuts and cheeses, jams, small pancakes and waffles, toppings, and coffee machines. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would stay again.

What you expect from a Marriott property, however rooms are small, mattress cover made a lot of noise!! Sounded life a water proof cover used on a toddler bed. We were a party of 8, four rooms, everyone had the same comment about the “noisy beds”.

The wework of hotels, that’s not a compliment. No room phone meant everything the room cleaner forgot had to be fetched by me from reception, toilet roll, coffee, etc. bed was comfy, AC was a joke, they admitted it too.

We were in Room 116 which was too small for £250/night. Very little room in the loo and cramped shower space. No shower room hooks for towels/dressing gown. No room furniture for storing clothes and little room for cases, too much dependance on wall hangars. We were there for two nights but would not return.

Was just one night and first time that I stayed at the Moxy in Edinburgh. Everything was good except one thing - the air conditioner in the room didn’t work - in fact it was warmer in the room than outside the room. This was very uncomfortable especially given the level of heat this weekend.

We were in Edinburgh during a huge festival so the city was very crowded and I think the hotel was full. We paid a high premium fir our tiny little room. We stayed 11 days and service got worse and worse. I thought they were sadly understaffed. Most requests were handled at the bar/ reception and the wait for attention was always long.

Upon arriving, was greeted by really friendly staff. And all were accommodating and helpful throughout my four nights there. Definitely would stay again. And it’s a lovely, maybe 15-20 minute walk into Old Town. Perfect. Away from the bustle, but an easy walk when you want it.

We stayed at the Moxie for three nights. The hotel is in a great location for walking. The staff was very pleasant and efficient. The room was comfortable. The restaurant was very good. I liked the fact that a computer was easy to access so everything didn't need to be done on my phone.

The accommodations were great. The restaurant was typical bar food and I would have preferred a more local menu but it was fine. The roof top restaurant was closed for remodeling so I have no input there. I would say the location was walking distance to the high points of the city. And the Coffee Cave across the street was awesome.

The staff was soooo friendly and we had an amazing time! Great atmosphere and I highly recommend the rooftop bar AND the breakfast. Especially, if you like something sweet for breakfast. Pancakes, waffles, donuts, cinnamon rolls, cereal - heaven!
