The room was great . The hotel Is at a high traffic street , but in Tbe room in Tbe back we did not hear the noise . The pool is refreshing , not too big, but was ok . It is a great base to go for explorations from . Reception was very helpful with organizing excursions. Best massage ever just minutes away in Venus spa in a small shopping mall around the corner. Don Rufino great restaurant 3 minutes walk.

Outstanding stay. Plenty of parking, exceptionally maintained grounds, clean and spacious rooms. There is a small restaurant on site overlooking the river (or you can easily walk to most La Fortuna locations). We ate a light dinner there and watched parrots and toucans land near the river. There was a sloth on site as well. We did not see monkeys or otters, but we were told they often make an appearance. We were able to check in early and the service was outstanding.

Great hotel right in town with a secure parking lot. Tons of dining options all within 5 minutes or less walking. The hotel also has a great restaurant with breakfast included. Luis was a joy every morning and ready with cocktails in the evening. The staff were wonderful, and helped set up reservations for excursions. A frog garden is located in the back of the hotel along the river, where we found some beautiful tree frogs. Only downside was our shower didn’t drain well. Other than that, no complaints!

Monte Real is a pleasant little compound that offers rest amid the touristy hub of La Fortuna. The breakfast is good - and, like us, you'll probably see a sloth in the branches above if you look carefully enough - and the rooms are pleasant. The pool and frog garden offer diversions if you are tired of all the driving. A good place.

A great place to stay. A big plus is the little river right beside the restaurant and sitting areas. The river was scenic and relaxing to listen to and provided wildlife sightings. Tiger herons, toucans, parrots, big King Fishers, two otters and several huge green iguanas, a mother sloth and her baby were all on the beautiful grounds of this hotel. The restaurant at the hotel is right beside the river; a wonderful place to eat. Besides the good breakfast which was included; the restaurant was also open for lunch and dinner. It was closed on Tuesday for lunch and dinner when we were there but I am not sure if this is a regular closure. We appreciated having the restaurant on site when it was pouring rain as we did not have a car. Even though there were several restaurants close by we did not want to get wet. The staff in the restaurant was wonderful; they were always looking for wildlife to show you. Location is great, close to everything. The easy hop shuttle stops right in front of the hotel. We had a junior suite with 1 king bed and while our room had a great view of the volcano it did not have an outdoor sitting area like most other rooms. The sitting area was inside and even though there were huge sliding doors to open I prefer to actually sit outside. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and it is amazing just to see all the vegetation. We loved our stay here!

We stayed here for two nights as part of a longer trip. The location is convenient enough to walk to a number of restaurants (also restaurant on site). Parking was included and inside the hotel property. Pool was a nice amenity. Room was comfortable and quiet with clean sheets and towels and bathrooms.

This hotel is like a little haven within the downtown area. You drive through the gates and it is like you are in another place. Our hotel room was very clean. Immediately outside our room was the tree frog garden with many lovely flowers and plants. There is a lovely stream running through the garden, which creates a peaceful, calming sound. There are bird songs all around; not much sound from cars, etc. I even did a Zoom call from our balcony with no interruptions (with our cellular data).

The hotel was centrally located a few blocks from the main square. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were very attentive and friendly and helped getting me a last minute night tour. The breakfast was delicious with good vegetarian options and had a nice outdoor seating area overlooking a stream. We liked chatting in our poco Spanish with our waitress Rachel :) We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again !

We had an amazing time at this hotel. It was clean, well maintained and safe. The staff were very generous and let us check in early since the room was ready. The breakfast was cooked to order and very good. The restaurant had a beautiful view and we saw many animals down by the river in the gardens. The location was perfect - very close to the Parque Central, restaurants, supermarkets, pharmacy and anything else you could possibly need. They also have an ice machine! The only issue was that the wifi was quite slow at times. 10/10 would recommend ;)

I am Canadian, used to Canadian & American hotels to set the stage. This was my first time to Costa Rica so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. Upon arrival in La Fortuna I was skeptical as it’s nothing like CAN or USA but I must say I quickly realized what a wonderful property we had chosen to stay at. It’s not fancy but it’s very clean, it’s close to everything yet set that few minutes away that it’s quiet and peaceful, you will have an excellent sleep and the city is literally footsteps away! The complimentary breakfast was delicious and you had a few options. Small pool area and view of the volcano. Staff were super friendly and helpful. I will give this hotel 5/5 and would recommend to anyone! Showers were hot and bathroom was huge! Bed was comfortable and in room safe let you explore the city and surrounding area with no worries about your valuables. I read many reviews hence why I booked Hotel Monte Real and so glad we did!!! King bed which was average in terms of comfort. Walking distance to many restaurants and short drive to many attractions. We really enjoyed our 3 night stay!

I loved my stay at Hotel Monte Real! The service was excellent, and my room was clean, spacious, and nice. The location was in easy walking distance to many restaurants, including my best meal at Don Rufino. I would definitely stay here again.

A fantastic little place right in town that is just tucked away from the road enough to feel like......it`s not just tucked away from the road! Clean, friendly and helpful staff and very spacious rooms. Wonderful second floor balcony for a rich coffee and an afternoon read.

Hotel well located close to centre of La Fortuna. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room spacious with fabulous view of Arenal Volcano. Bar and Restaurant located beside river with a variety of wildlife. Breakfast cooked to order and was very nice. Would definitely stay here again.

We spent 3 nights and we're delighted with the included breakfast, small pool and staff was very helpful, top notch cleanliness and very well maintained garden. Only thing maybe WiFi could be better but we had cell service. Definitely a good option that provides value for money.

A nice convenient stay near the centre of La Fortuna. Easily walkable to shops and restaurants. Beds were comfy and clean and the staff were all very helpful. The restaurant for breakfast was in a lovely spot! The hotel feels a little dated but that had no impact on our comfort or experience.

Nice simple clean hotel! I really enjoyed sitting on the little patio outside my room to have a snack or have a drink. I looked at beautiful flowers in that setting. The staff are nice and helpful. Check-in was easy and pleasant. The best thing about this hotel is breakfast. You can choose from about 6 hot meals and you get a plate of fruit (or many plates) and coffee. They have an entirely vegan hot meal, which was great for us.

We booked our stay at Hotel Monte Real last minute when in La Fortuna. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. Our room was spotless, and the restaurant food and service was unbelievable! Everything was made to order and it was delicious. In the morning we had a clear view of Arenal from our room and other spots on the property. Check in and check out were easy and the front desk staff were outstanding. I highly recommend staying here when travelling to La Fortuna!

Loved my stay at the Monte Real. Perfect walking distance to the town square, but not too close to be loud at night. Right next to a river that has beautiful birds visiting every morning. The pool was great and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. Highly recommend!

We found our 2 night stay perfect for the location and proximity to the attractions we were headed too. The free breakfast included was a great touch and plenty of restaurants to walk too nearby. Quiet hotel for being on a main road and security onsite after hours.

Really nice property located right in the middle of the town. You can walk anywhere, for supper or shopping. The rooms are ok and clean. Some rooms, like the one we stayed in, have a view of the Arenal volcano. Excellent breakfast. Check the back of the property for wildlife.

I loved my stay at Hotel Monte Real! The service was excellent, and my room was clean, spacious, and nice. The location was in easy walking distance to many restaurants, including my best meal at Don Rufino. I would definitely stay here again.

Great place to stay, hope to come back. The location is great, can easily walk to lots of places. Parking is easy, the property itself is gorgeous, rooms are clean and nice, and the breakfast is tasty. A wonderful place to stay for a vacation.

Great hotel right in town with a secure parking lot. Tons of dining options all within 5 minutes or less walking. The hotel also has a great restaurant with breakfast included. Luis was a joy every morning and ready with cocktails in the evening. The staff were wonderful, and helped set up reservations for excursions. A frog garden is located in the back of the hotel along the river, where we found some beautiful tree frogs. Only downside was our shower didn’t drain well. Other than that, no complaints!

All facilities in hotel were good. Staff from reception being helpful in every respect to maid service being really good. One suggestion would be to install a grab bar in shower area for safety Free breakfast was ok but dinner at night was excellent.

I very much enjoyed staying at this hotel. Guest service reserved our tours with pickup and drop off included. The daily breakfast was delicious. There’s a river that runs through the back property and you can take a nice stroll and enjoy the nature. Shopping and restaurant locations were walking distance.

The building may not look like much on the outside but the rooms are awesome, large, and comfy. The grounds are beautiful, with the Arenal river running right behind it. The staff is very friendly and the free breakfast is very good. Best of all, location is super convenient to downtown La Fortuna, without being right in the middle of everything. We could walk everywhere! It has a great view of the volcano and isn't far to all of the outdoor stuff.
