Viking Fit club next door was noisy in the mornings , Same with ASI restaurant. Staff were great, The suite needs better maintenance. Dish washer didn't clean properly. Hair dryer broken, toilet keep running, hot tub is old and jets didn't work. Great location and amenities.

The hotel was very clean. The pools were clean and comfortable temperature. The staff was helpful. The room was very large. This hotel is not a beachfront hotel though. This hotel is very much an oceanfront hotel, not any real space for laying on the beach the way that someone normally would.

The photos of the beach need to be updated. Beach is gone. Barely room for 8 lounger chairs. Otherwise great location if you don’t want to be on the sand or in the ocean. Because the dock is gone, the boats tie up on the shoreline. So, you cant go in the water.

This is a great place on a quiet, quaint street right on the beach and walking distance (5 minutes) to great restaurants and cafes, shops. Both pool areas are great: the main pool is heated and right by the beach; the second pool has a relaxing vibe. The hotel has access to a gym (2 min walk) that offers great yoga classes. The staff is super friendly; special thanks to Eric for connecting us with amazing excursions guy Pedro. We had a two bedroom penthouse with a terrace. Great views from the terrace and loved the spaciousness. Overall, highly recommend.

This hotel/condo was cozy and quiet, yet a hop, skip and a jump close to 5th street the highlight of this area. I did not use the pool, with limited sun hitting the two pools, the water was too cold. Although the water is very close to the hotel, it is not a beach shore. The hotel does provide lounge chairs for the 20 by 50 feet of sand by the water.

This was my second stay at this property. Its convenient location offers a quiet respite, yet is less than a two-minute walk from a coffee shop opening at 7:00 AM (most locations open considerably later). The clubs, shops, restaurants, bars, and the hotel's complimentary gym are equally accessible. The hotel staff are exceptionally courteous and readily available.

Condo is very nice and clean. Staff is spectacular. Pools just ok, not a a lot of seating and surprisingly very cold. Hot tub in main pool is not heated? Pool and hot tub on street side is good but only a few seats. Overall, due to the awesome staff, location and cleanliness it is a great place to stay!

The pools on both Beachside and Oceanfront were clean and comfortable, with beautiful water features. Some of the jets in the jacuzzi weren’t operable and the elevator had us trapped for a solid 10 minutes with no one to hear us yell for help not did the alarm didn’t work. Luckily the door eventually opened on its own. The condo itself was perfect: comfortable, fully loaded, spacious. I would come back but I definitely wouldn’t risk the elevator again

Loved our stay here, suite was exactly as described. Clean and spacious rooms. Nice pool and jacuzzi. Free purified, cold water. In-unit washer. Friendly and helpful staff. 5 minute walk from beach and 2 minute walk away from 5th ave where you can find anything you need. Expect to walk up stairs If you have 2nd or 3rd floor suite. Only downside was our king size bed being super hard. The queen bed in the other room was much softer tho. I definitely would recommend staying here if you’re visiting PDC. Thank you El Taj staff!!

The place is horrible!!!!! doesn’t look like the pictures , very dirty very old , the room had many problems , mold smell and broken tv, water flood at the sink and from the rain in 2 rooms. Stuff at front desk was not nice at all !!! will never recommend this place to anyone !!! we suffered there and it completely ruind our vacation , especially for my 4 kids !!!

Excellent value for the money! Suites were wow-spacious, quiet,clean, kitchen appliances were clean, modern. Included: dishwasher soap, laundry detergent, sugar, 1 free bag coffee, fully stocked w all the utensils, pots, pans, cups, cutting board, plates that you could possibly want, both bath towels & separate towels for pool, bottled water, very good quality shampoo/conditioner, beds were clean & comfortable, heated clean pool-surprisingly nice w a Zen ambience w 2 Asian statues, that had water coming out of it into the pool & a built in stone sitting area just above the pool, large gym pass. Asi beachclub restaurant had EXCELLENT food & convenient. The beach unfortunately had seaweed on the shore, a couple days of our 1 week stay, but this is everywhere you go on all the beaches until the workers manually cart off the seaweed. Rooms had a beautiful view of the blue ocean water. Location truly is right on the beach. The downtown location was 1 block walking distance to the happening area of shops and restaurants, w a 10 minute walk to Walmart, ferry,& ADO bus station, a bit of a longer walk about 18 min to collectivo,& 2 min to taxi stand. Every block had 2 pharmacies. The front desk personnel deserve a special recognition. It is staffed 24 hours, and they made an extra effort to help us at all times. Wish I could remember their names (night staff male3/19/23, Xavier, male day staff 3/25 who helped me all AM to reach van company to airport, dafne). Home base xcaret parks.

The 2 bedroom condo that we have rented was huge... And very clean. Nice spa like decor. Kitchen was fully equipped and comfortable. The garden building we stayed at had a small swimming pool with just a few lounge chairs. The front building pool had no lounge chairs or place to sit whatsoever. The beach by the hotel is not what you would expect for your vacation. Full of stinky boats, fisherman cleaning nets and getting ready for the next dive or fishing trip. There are some beach clubs in the area however it requires 10-15 minutes walk through the city streets full of tourists. The beach clubs qualify is not the greatest and prices very high. The best deal was a 500 per person credit that included beach chair and credit for food and drinks. There are tons of local people sitting on the beach right at the front of your beach chair. There was a heavy duty tractors cleaning the beach from weeds washed up the shore

Not much of a beach view, my unit was in the back. I rated due to TV’s did not work or coffee machine. Also note there are no elevators. The jacuzzi is separate and you have to walk upstairs to use balcony. Overall it’s a nice property and at walkable distance to many things.

Our unit had great partial view of the beach and pool. It was clean, spacious, and had comfy beds. Walls seemed thick so couldn’t hear other people that much. Rooms also had white noise machines to block out sound. Location was great with many restaurants and shops within walking distance. Deducted one star only because it was little outdated, jacuzzi didn’t work that well, and the beach was undesirable. Overall enjoyed the stay and would recommend.

Stayed in a 3 bedroom w/ ocean view in April. Great for large families. Felt like we were staying in our own home. Personal jacuzzi, washer/dryer, large balcony w/dinning and lounging furniture. Each room had its own bathroom and full/partial ocean views. Full kitchen with microwave, stove, oven, toaster oven, dishwasher, fridge, blender, and kitchen ware. 1 time complimentary coffee and beverages. Unlimited free filtered water and ice. TVs in each room and living room. Dish washing soap, laundry detergent, lotion, shampoo, bar soap provided. Clean, pleasant staff, easy checkin/out. Within walking distance to 5th Ave (shops/restaurants) and other beaches. We shopped at the local grocery store and cooked in kitchen sometimes. Pool was warm. Would definitely return.

We just returned from our stay at El Taj. Prior to our arrival the team were easily contactable via WhatsApp and very helpful. From the moment that we checked in, the staff were so accommodating and friendly. We stayed in one of the 2 bedroom penthouse condos, it was very well equipped (full kitchen, washer etc.). I really liked that they have a water cooler in the condo, and they also brought us ice. The condo has a rooftop terrace, with a big seating area, grill, hot tub and loungers. The complex has a very tropical feel, the pool areas are quite shaded and there is a small beach area with the great Ari restaurant. One of the best things we did was book a 9am massage on the beach, total heaven with the sound of the waves! Prior to our arrival I saw reviews complaining about the fishing boats in front of the beach, and there are boats there but it wasn’t an issue for us. We spent days at beach clubs, everything is very walkable from the location. In the first evening I was a little worried about the noise from the bars on 5th Ave, but we had no issues with noise at the condo. Highly recommend and would stay again!

El Taj Staff was always displaying professionalism, at checkin we felt welcome, everyone we spoke always show care, we had a lost bag that was delivered to the lobby they always kept us informed and responded quickly to any of our questions, in regards to Milton's huracan that was near the area we felt safe at home, the condo was beautiful, clean, and had everything we needed. The views were amazing, everything was well thought of, the location was great, near all the busy restaurants, nightclubs, galleries, but yet quiet and relaxing family environment. We will highly recommend it! I assure you we will come back.

Beautiful intimate private friendly clean lovely charming - all of these words come to mind. Spacious well stocked room with all amenities we needed.the pools were lovely Daphne and Erik (from Wyoming!) were outstanding! We can’t wait to come back for a longer stay!

Lovely stay. Enjoyed the plants and trees. Felt very lush and tropical inside the hotel. The concierge service was exceptional from arranging travel to three hotel, car rental, cirque de solei transport and information. We worked with Patricia and two other lovely ladies… sorry can’t remember names. Thank you so much for your hospitality and quick responses answering my questions! I would definitely stay here again. Super quick walk to all the restaurants and shops. We were able to take a fishing trip leaving right next to the hotel. You then came back in the restaurant cooked our fish and we had tacos. Super fun!

El Taj is a beautiful property located right on the beach. It’s well-maintained and clean. The front desk staff were helpful & friendly. Things I loved: the fresh bag of coffee and filters on the kitchen counter, the comfy bed, and the private patio, which even provided a view of the ocean. What could have been better? El Taj’s ‘unique’ hotel-like set didn’t work for us. Most hotels offer restaurants, room service, gyms, and spas on site, and even simple things like ice machines. At El Taj though, all those services are more complicated. Asi is the only restaurant on the property, and they close at 6PM. Too early for us. Most traditional hotel restaurants are open until 9-10PM. They also don’t have traditional room service. Getting ice was inconvenient. There are no ice machines like at traditional hotels. You have to go down to the front office if you want ice, and then a staff member will bring an entire bag, rather than a bucket. There is also no on-site gym or spa. Both are located a few blocks away. Overall though, we liked El Taj. The property is a couple blocks from 5th Avenue, and despite being so close to all that activity, it is a relaxing and quiet place. That’s why the lack of on-site amenities wasn’t a big deal. A note: The beach on the property is not suitable for swimming. Boats dock along the shore & the beach is narrow. Still, it’s a nice spot for relaxing on the loungers, and only a short walk to the larger main beach. All in all, it was a nice vacation.

Liked- location close to 5th avenue. Hotel is beautifully styled, beds comfortable and everywhere is kept clean. Beachfront area is quite small so not ideal if want to spend time lying on beach. Several fishing boats moored directly in front. Nice beach cafe for good breakfast which you have to buy a voucher for from reception. Excellent gym about 3 min walk away. Good concierge services. Reception answered all questions when asked but didn’t proactively share information eg about gym and restaurants etc. Overall great place and would stay there again.
