Absolutely excellent except for car park on way out. No exit signs. Also, my ticket had paid on it and signed by staff but I could not get out. I rang the call button 3 times as a queue was behind me. No answer. I managed to get the cars behind to reverse and I went back to reception. They said I was told but i did not recall as they spoke quickly with thick accents. They said I could press the call button, when I said I had they said it never rang their end but no one made a note to call maintenance so would happen again. Shame as it marred what was a lovely stay but not enough to put me off. I would definitely come back and have recommended you to all my colleagues who visit our West of England hub. Just some exit signage and clearer insrtuctions would help for validation

As a 4 star hotel I expected more. The sofa bed which was made up for my teenage children were lumpy and they could feel the metal poles. We stayed in a budget hotel for 2 nights in Exeter and the beds were much better. We had dinner and the food was tadty but very oily. Breakfast was also not 4 star standard. We had breakfast at 8 and the scrambled eggs were dry, mushrooms oily and it looked like the food had already been sitting there for hours. Steam room was out of order, but sauna was good. Not worth the money.

Really nice stop over not too far from Bristol city centre! Easy hotel to find and parking was a good bonus! £14.50 for the night and the next day is good value to park on site! Would easily stay again!

Clean and well located hotel and friendly staff. It advertises van parking which is a major factor during business trips. This turned out to be in a back lane behind the hotel - still chargeable. Separated only by a wire fence from a fully paved car park with Ringo parking.

Great little hotel. Comfy, quiet rooms and the staff are excellent. The breakfast was very good too and catered for all requirements. Only thing that let it down were the lifts - there seems to be an issue with going up, though not down!

We had a great one night stay, in a clean room, very friendly and helpful staff, and the best part, our dog was allowed for a small fee, which is a huge bonus. The overnight parking seems to be a bit more than should be, but overall a very pleasant place. Definitely will check in again at some point.

Hotel a bit tired in places but room was fairly descent and clean. Didn't realise parking wasn't free. 14.50 a day. little pricey when your paying a good price to stay there in first place. Breakfast was fairly standard buffet style and good. had some down time so decided to use the gym. not easy to gain access. you have to get a code from reception to enter after you've signed a health/safety questionnaire.

The room was not clean when we arrived. The carpet looked very dirty and old. There was a small hair on the bed and hairs on the towel in the bathroom. There was a straw underneath a chair and a penny on the floor. It looked like a quick clean job was done. Seemed more a motel.

Nice first impression, reception staff lovely, coming out of the lift the hallway smelt musty, like a hoover that needs a new filter, room okay although carpet would benefit from a clean, bit stained. Room also had a musty smell about it so opened windows to air out?! Maybe a nice light air freshener would be nice? Made reception staff aware sink in bathroom, drain was blocked so very slowly drained water and not a very pleasant smell coming from overflow each time. Our one real moan was the cleaning staff outside in the corridor very early, around 7am, talking very loudly with little respect for guests sleeping, and it was Sunday morning, I was going to open the door and speak to them but tbh they should know this and have more respect! Overall staff lovely and stay was very nice, food good, especially the breakfast

There was music on on the Sunday night which perhaps we could’ve been warned about as we were right above it on the first floor and we had two young children who couldn’t sleep until it finished. No room to keep a pram so we were on top of each other.. felt perhaps a family room would’ve been better equipped.

Photos sent to staff members phone as requested to be forwarded to manager I was told got refund. Spent all Saturday on phone to Expedia and at reception desk. Weekend ruined my son’s 8th birthday treat this was supposed to be. Promised refund by staff and waiting update.

We checked in at night and the staff member who initially tried to resolve it was lazy and incompetent, trying to avoid doing what was required (came 3x to try and change sheets). A second staff member came and she sorted it out. The next day, my husband spoke to the manager and she offered us free parking and free breakfast.

When we arrived at the carpark, we walked up the stairs to reception. The carpet was filthy! Not a great first impression. Check in was 1pm but we checked in at 4pm. To our surprise our room was not ready!! The gentleman on reception was polite and friendly and explained they were fully booked the night before and the cleaners had not finished the rooms. We waited in the reception area for around 15/20 minutes before being called to our room. The room was clean and basic which is what we expected. The USB charger at the side of the bed did not work and half of the chanels on TV had no signal. Breakfast was good and restaurant staff were helpful and quick to clean away after guests left. When we checked out, the cleaners were sitting in the chair in the corridor (near room 215) chatting and on their phones ( not surprised they couldnt keep up with the cleaning) i really loved the umbrellas at reception which kept us dry for the rememberance parade.

The hotel was nice and done up for halloween. It was very clean. The food was good in the bar. The room was a good size clean lots of space only down size was the bed, it was rock hard. I know hotel beds are firm but this was beyond firm

Room is a good size , very clean, all good other than the bed which was very uncomfortable unfortunately, far too hard, not as good by a long way when compared with the Premier Inn mattress.

Hotel is very nice , clean . With good sized rooms as you expect in a Novotel . Only real complaints relate to the heating , as numerous other reviews have mentioned , the internal room temperature of the rooms is locked at 19 degrees . No amount of adjusting of the baffling heater controls ( no instructions provided ) will get it to move up or down . I got the readout to change to 22 degrees and it made zero difference . I then got it to show “off” on the display , it still continued to ( noisily) pump out 19 degree air all night . In the end we took out the provided electric oil radiator , and plugged that in to get some heat into the room . Which brings us to the next problem , mains sockets , or the lack of , our room - 135 , had one single mains socket (That’s a single socket , not a double ) and no USB’s , this is completely unacceptable in this day and age , for a couple staying together With phones. iPads , earbuds etc to charge . Even a Travelodge has at least two double sockets , both with USB’s in their premium rooms , so to have only a single socket in a £100 plus a night room is an insult. Get your act together Novotel , this is penny pinching to an insulting level .

Located within walking distance from the Bristol Temple Meads station, this hotel is fine. The room I was in is quite big with a comfortably firm bed. For those who are into the retro 2000s era style, this is the hotel to be in. The room is a bit dated, but at least they do a good job in up keeping the interior.

It’s in a very convenient location for my needs. Rooms are spacious if not a little 90s and ready for a bit of a makeover. The aircon was heavily used during a heat wave and was struggling to meet demand. The check in process wasn’t what I was expecting; they were quite uninterested. Health and safety was a low priority in this property with chairs stacked against an emergency exit and pressure washing in front of the property leaving hoses unattended and unsafe without any signage.

Awful stay - there was a group of lads in the room opposite us playing loud music and shouting/screaming until late at night. Tried to phone reception to conpkain but no one answered so had to go down to talk to someone. Duty manager (about 19/20) politely knocked on the door and they just ignored him. Took an older guest on the same floor to repeatedly bang on the door and get them to stop and go out into Bristol. The air con in the room didn’t work so the room was stupidly hot and the shower was a weak dribble. The sofa bed my daughter was on made a loud knocking sound every time she moved so between that and the heat, sleep was a challenge. The next morning when checking out, the lady in reception asked ‘How was your stay?’ As my wife went to answer that it was bad, she had already begun to tell us about how to use our car park ticket to leave. My wife had to interrupt her to tell her she had asked a question and wasn’t listening to the answer! She apologised, listened to our issues and then said there was nothing she could do and gave us a card to email our complaint to! Safe to say that we won’t ever stay here again.

The air con in the room didn’t work so the room was stupidly hot and the shower was a weak dribble. The sofa bed my daughter was on made a loud knocking sound every time she moved so between that and the heat, sleep was a challenge. The next morning when checking out, the lady in reception asked ‘How was your stay?’ As my wife went to answer that it was bad, she had already begun to tell us about how to use our car park ticket to leave. My wife had to interrupt her to tell her she had asked a question and wasn’t listening to the answer! She apologised, listened to our issues and then said there was nothing she could do and gave us a card to email our complaint to! Safe to say that we won’t ever stay here again.

We arrived late on a Thursday night so didn't expect the red carpet to be run out, but were met by a very grumpy man who was extremely economical with words,and looked like somebody who hated his job. Our room was large enough and had a double bed and a double sofa bed. The sofa bed, according to my son was not the most comfortable. The bed was ok, but the pillows were a bit smelly. If the room had been 4 up, there were not enough pillows. Bathroom was clean and functional. We didn't have breakfast and we had no other contact with any members of staff. Hotel was average at best and overpriced for the condition it's in. It's good and central and close to temple meads train station and the airport shuttle bus which leaves from there. Don't think I would stay there again

A good place to stay when visiting Bristol, as it's only 5-10 minutes walk into the City Centre & riverside attractions. The reception is spotless and spacious, with very efficient staff. Due to a fall the day before arriving my wife arrived in a wheelchair, and without any fuss or request from myself, the reception staff allocated us a wheelchair friendly room on the 1st floor. Both lifts worked perfectly, although at busy times there was a bit of a wait for one. On-site car parking (two underground levels) is a good, although some spaces seem smaller than others. But plenty of SUV's and Transit-sized vans were parked comfortably on the upper level. Pay for parking at reception, then scan the ticket at the barrier when you leave. The bar area has plenty of comfortable seating areas, although bar prices are obviously higher then the nearby pubs. We didn't dine in during our stay, but can only say the food looked (& smelt) delicious on the plates that passed by us. Our room (108) didn't have the best of views, overlooking the rear access roads and neighbouring office buildings. But it was quite adequate for weekend stay, with tea/coffee facilities, ironing board, iron, hairdryer, disabled wet room shower, nice big bed, and a decent TV. Downsides were a lack of storage space for clothes & empty suitcases, no coat hooks, and an absence of 240v sockets to plug in chargers for phones or other devices (especially as this was a disabled persons room).

Nothing special. Booked for 2 x adults and 2 X children, only 3 bed spaces made up. Alerted reception at around 4pm just after we checked in and told that housekeeping would sort. Went out, upon our return at 7:30pm with tired children the bed was still a sofa. Receptionist came up with some sheets as housekeeping had gone home. They did offer to make the bed but we did it ourselves. Dodgy brown stains on the quilt. Sofa beds ran at an angle so felt like you were laid on a hill. I wasn’t very impressed with the breakfast. The support staff was limited, the pastries were warmed up from frozen, the filter coffee was only warm. Very small selection of fresh fruit, the berries were from a container I guess. Little cheese or cold meat and no fresh individual yoghurts. The hotel is very good and I was very happy with the parking.

Clean and comfortable hotel with a great breakfast. Some of the furniture in our room was a little dated and in need of a refresh but room had vey useful mini fridge and good size bathroom. There were four of us with two of us sleeping on a sofa bed which was very comfortable- not always the case in other hotels. Breakfast selection was very good and nicely cooked. Kids enjoyed the table football and small games area. Hotel is also walkable to most on the main sites. Would stay again.

As a 4 star hotel I expected more. The sofa bed which was made up for my teenage children were lumpy and they could feel the metal poles. We stayed in a budget hotel for 2 nights in Exeter and the beds were much better. We had dinner and the food was tadty but very oily. Breakfast was also not 4 star standard. We had breakfast at 8 and the scrambled eggs were dry, mushrooms oily and it looked like the food had already been sitting there for hours. Steam room was out of order, but sauna was good. Not worth the money.

My wife and I paid £71 for one night which included breakfast. We chose this hotel because it had on-site underground parking and was located close to the Bristol City centre. We were surprised with the quality of our stay given the price. The room was spacious with a huge, comfortable bed. The bathroom had a deep bathtub and a nice shower. What really surprised us was the selection of food on offer. We only had breakfast but I have to say, this is probably the best hotel I've used in the UK when it came to variety of food and drink for breakfast. We’ll definitely use Novotel again.

The Novotel (Bristol) was a lovely experience for all the family with comforting service and all staff had smiles whenever spoken to ,the only disappointment that occurred was that the breakfast appeared to be cold and the bacon was dry.In the past, the breakfast was perfect. But overall, the service and comfort was incredible.
