DoubleTree by Hilton Bristol North

Good check inn with a warm cookie. Pool was OK just a shame swimming lessons takes up half the pool so hard to do lengths with anyone else in it. Got woken up at midnight by room service knocking on my door which was the wrong room.

All facilities were excellent, room, dining & food, pool, sauna, & staff. No bus service nearby.

Hotel quite 'tired' - appalling bed made creaking noises every time you moved, which meant 5 broken-sleep nights. Also disappointed to find that there was an extra charge of £5 per adult to use the pool/spa - this was not made clear on the hotels.com website when booking (and still isn't!)

Very tired rooms, fixtures and bathrooms. Terrible water pressure so the shower was weak at best. Swimming pool was full of hair and the showers in the changing rooms again, pathetic. The staff were however great and tried their best to resolve issues the best they could. Next time, we visit Bristol, we will not be staying here.

Breakfast was overpriced so didnt opt for this. 2 adults and 2 kids comes to £68 a day! Room was clean, air con worked. The pool felt dirty, with lots of chlorine to attempt to overcome this. Parking on a Tuesday evening is apparently a no go as there is an event space that fill the car park with vans until after 10pm. After paying £8 a night for parking up front i had to park on the business estate in the end. Overall a tired hotel. The only thing i rated here was some of the staff, particularly the person checking us in who also gave us recommendations for part of our trip.

Super friendly and welcoming reception team, speedy check in and explained parking was discounted to £8 for guests. Lovely atrium, and room was a good size, with two double beds and still loads of space for a cot and desk etc. The only negative thing was that the shower curtain smelt foul, and the pillows were very soft which just wasn’t to our preference. The breakfast was very good - huge selection to choose from and all seemed fresh with a nice selection of juices too. Again the staff were brilliant. The pool and gym were also good, and the changing rooms were immaculate. There was also a steam room and jacuzzi which we didn’t use but looked great. My son found a bit of glass in the pool which when we told the leisure colleague, he didn’t seem too concerned which was slightly worrying.

Have stayed here several times now and will do so again. Staff all very friendly and lovely to be greeted with warm cookies. Disappointed that the sauna and steam weren’t working this weekend but otherwise very happy with our stay.

Swimming pool and sauna/spa is small but good. Gym is smal and some of the limited range equipment are broken. Breast is OK and some gluten free options available

I messaged the property for a query 3 days before my booking and only received a reply on the day of the booking. The room was comfortable but there were hairballs on the floor, no fridge and the room was freezing when we entered and needed a few hours to go back to normal temperature.Breakfast was alright, pastries finished at 8:30am and never got any more out although buffet was closing at 10am.

The poolside was very dirty, there was false eyelashes on the side of the pool, used plasters, the showers did not work and you had no where to put your stuff when you went unless you took money and paid for a locker - this was not noted anywhere. Our room was dirty and unclean, the beds were uncomfortable and I booked an accessible room and it was the furthest room from reception. The bed was too high for me to transfer safely and the shower chair looked like it has not been cleaned. The toilet roll was too far away from the toilet it felt unsafe. There was also a bottle of Ribena just next to the bed which had been left so did not give me faith that it had been cleaned very well

Hi, unfortunately my stay was a little spoilt. The pool area and changing rooms are showing signs of wear and does not seem to be very clean I booked this hotel, as it had a pool area). I have to say the staff in that area where great, very polite and professional. I also reported that my room had noise through the night coming from the Airconditioning area. Gurling noises, like water air locks in the pipes. This did spoil my nights sleep. I reported this to reception and they were very apologetic. Overall, the staff where very polite and professional.

We appreciated how clean and quiet the room was. The check out at 12pm gave us the chance to relax after breakfast. The breakfast was very nice apart from the orange juice. The hotel and the guests deserve a better quality of orange juice.

clean and well managed

The room was filthy, the bathroom stunk of urine. The bed was old, lumpy and clearly worn. The plug socket inline with the mattress is not safe or compliant. The showers in the gym only one of 6 was working. The parking was £6 when I'm a paying guest on an overnight stay. I didn't bother with breakfast so can't comment on that.

We needed a room with two double beds, which we got, however, both are very small and not enough space for three adults. It meant, we were in a room with internal adjoining doors. The door was not fitted well, and we were woken up at 2am with people next door talking loudly. The room was very tired and not the same spec we had when we stayed previously. The kettle was broken and leaking, a safety hazard. We had to ask several times for a replacement. We booked the room for three adults, and only had cups, glasses and tea/coffee for two, again had to ask for more. We were disappointed this time.

DoubleTree was amazing. The staff was accommodating. The room was a nice size and comfortable. I wish I was there more nights.

It was ok, room dated

I have stayed in a number of Hilton/Doubletree hotels in the past and was expecting the same standard of accommodation,, unfortunately this really did not meet my expectations. The hotel (away from the reception) felt very dated, old and rundown. The room was very tired. I was pleased with the gym and location to work

It was ok, expected two double beds as per description and photos but ended up with one double bed and a slightly rickety double sofabed. Bathroom was very dated and towels nearing the end of their life. The reception area seemed to have been recently renovated but the rooms have plenty of room for improvement.

Property looked well cared for and new ‘wing’ looked impressive, but we couldn’t use the pool in the evening after arriving. Bedroom was cold- tried adjusting air con and couldn’t get warm. Car charger wasn’t working. Pillows were far too soft.

A nice hotel, with really good customer service, as always from Hilton. We were upgraded to the new part of the hotel. The room was really quiet, you couldn't hear the busy road or your neighbours and there was very little noise bleed from the corridors which was lovely. We had dinner in the hotel on the first night and it was very nice served with a smile and reasonably priced. Everywhere was clean and the lounge and bar were warm and welcoming spaces. My only criticism is that the Living Well spa was below the standard we have been used to at Hilton. Staff were warm and welcoming, but it was not very clean. The changing room had multiple towels thrown on the floor and benches, the showers were grubby and didn't looked like they'd been cleaned when I went i and there as no improvement when I came out 2 hours later. There were 3 staff in the reception,but maybe it was not their job. I asked for a clean towel, but they had run out. There were no nice products in the shower, that I am used to at Hllton.

Great hotel for the price. Had everything we needed. Large room. Large and comfortable bar area with reasonably priced food. Other food outlets nearby. The room was generally good but sink and toilet could do with an upgrade (sink cracked).

Most of the rooms in parts of the older/dated part of the hotel are without heating. We were lucky and were moved to one of the new rooms or we would have stayed elsewhere. Clearly, judging by the number of heaters around the property this has been an issue for some time. Confirm you will have a room with heating if staying here. Offered free parking as compensation but just noticed they still charged for both nights anyway. New 1000 numbered rooms are lovely. Older rooms are dated with lots of damaged to furniture. In room coffee provided for one of two nights only.

The room was excellent. Check out slow (system blamed) staff uncommunicative. Restaurant food good enough but very slow service and waitress was defensive bordering on rude when we complained, blaming kitchen staff, which was not our problem but theirs to sort out. Shame as decent hotel.

I recently stayed at a DoubleTree property in Bristol and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The hotel is modern, clean, and well-maintained, with the signature warm cookie welcome that always adds a nice touch. Ignored by reception, room wasn’t what was booked, food ordered was over cooked, told by reception that rooms are ‘a lucky dip’. I will not be back….id go anywhere else, double tree is to be avoided. Premier Inn couldn’t be worse!

We had another amazing stay at this Hotel which we come to every year whilst visiting family & friends. The staff are so friendly and go out of there way to ensure you are happy with everything. The rooms are spacious and exceptionally clean. Good amenities too..Highly recommend.

Awful service. Whenever we had any requests I had to ask for it multiple times and had to wait at least 2 hours before anything was done. The first time it was for some additional pillows as the pillows that are provided are pretty terrible. The second time it was for housekeeping as it hadn't been done when we got back to our rooms at 3:30. When we asked the housekeeping staff they said they'd get someone to do our room now but by 4:45 still nothing. I then went down to reception and was told someone would be with us in 10 mins and it was after half an hour before someone finally came. Waiting until almost 5:30 for housekeeping is far too long imo. In every other hotel i have ever been to its done by 3. Turns out we weren't the only ones. As we were checking out the person in front of me was complaining that neither he nor his family's rooms were cleaned in 3 days! Another thing that annoyed me was that we had booked the hotel back in October as it has a pool and gym. We only found out a few days before arrival that the gym and pool area had much shorter opening times over the christmas period. Had to rearrange our other plans in order to fit it in. Just wish that we had been notified of this much earlier as it did affect our plans for the weekend. Breakfast was very basic. Get a better range at Holiday Inns. Definitely won't be using this hotel again if we ever do return to Bristol. Not worth the extra that we paid for it.

We booked through Expedia then phoned this hotel to let them know our arrival time. We were rudely told there was no bed for us and we couldn’t come. Furthermore we were told Expedia knew this and shouldn’t have let us book. Expedia basically told us the Hotel wouldn’t refund us and there was nothing they could do. Truly disgusted by the behaviour of both parties. As of writing this we have been charged for a room we couldn’t use - had to pay out of pocket to stay elsewhere at short notice. We will never use this hotel or Expedia again and warn others there are significant risks committing to anything with Expedia.

The issue we faced that there were no room available by the time we arrived there even after booking was confirmed we had to wait for awhile, but staff was helpful to sort it out in half an hour time so at the end it was all okay, but I will double check it from the next time onwards

Staff helpful throughout hotel

We did not get to stay in the hotel. We showed up only to find out that the hotel had been overbooked by about 5 rooms, and there were others waiting at reception for a solution. The night manager told us that he tried calling all the hotels in Bristol and nobody picked up their phone. I said if I get a different hotel sorted, will you pay for it? He said of course, you'd be doing me a favour. Literally the first hotel I called was happy to accommodate us, but the manager said he didn't have the authority to pay for the other hotel directly, and to email for a refund the next day. More than 2 weeks later I am still waiting for a response to my email, and my 2 phone calls didn't help either. The Doubletree didn't really have a solution on the night, didn't offer us a drink, didn't even seem very apologetic. The other hotel we ended up staying at was way more empathetic and gave us 4 free cocktails, even though our problem had nothing to do with them.

This hotel is on the outskirts in a business park area so not close to centre which was fine for us. Parking was free but there is usually a small charge.The staff were all great and common areas well kept. The hotel was quite pretty and well decorated, same as the rooms. Rooms a good size and very well equipped. Bathroom was spacious & had everything we needed. Good size swimming pool, good bar, garden & food. The only negatives were: Hot water restrictions, although I understand the water for safety. The beds were quite strange, they were still pretty comfortable, but made the strangest, springiest noises, a bit like a camp bed. Fortunately we still managed a decent sleep. Housekeeping knocked the door 2 hours before our check out time which is far too early to knock, especially on a Sunday Overall its a good hotel & im happy we stayed, it was relatively peaceful & relaxing

Easy location to find and great amenities a short drive away. Comfortable, clean deluxe room. Warm cookie on arrival was very nice touch to go with Nespresso coffee in room. Large spacious room with big bed, air con and fan much appreciated in warm weather. Lovely clean bathroom with walk in shower. Would highly recommend.

I cant say a bad word about this hotel! Well located for the activities we were doing literally 5 minute trip to cribbs causeway. All the staff were polite and very hospitable, the bar had a good selection and the food was also very nice as was the breakfast! Will definitely visit again when im in the area

Fantastic and helpful staff throughout. A little too far from Bristol, Rooms somewhat dated in need of a major refurb.

We booked this hotel just for a night to explore Bristol as a family of four, x 2 adults and children aged 7 and 4. We parked at the hotel, £6 and lots of spaces. Staff were v friendly and helpful. Lovely pool, perfect for a family swim. Breakfast was good, fresh and lots of options. Short drive to Bristol centre. Would come again.

The room was excellent, housekeeping as always do a great job. Check in staff were brilliant, as were the bar staff. But the food. Dear God it was terrible. Ordered sausage and mash and received three small sausage with a spoon of mash and peas. It really wasn't enough to feed a hungry toddler yet they charge 15 pound for it. Was tasteless, tiny portion and arrived within 5 minutes of being ordered which suggests it was microwaved. There's simply no need for such bad food. Also the parking is free if you're a hotel visitor who spends 20 pounds on food and drink, yet if you're a hotel GUEST who has paid for a room, food and drink, you still have to pay for parking. Something wrong there.

Rooms are dated. Gym was ok but seemed to smell more than normal. Service at the bar very poor- clearly the girl left on her own to serve had never worked behind a bar before as she couldn’t pull a beer or identify types of gin. Very slow.

Reception staff friendly on arrival. The welcome cookie was a nice touch. Sofa bed not so comfy for my 11 year old. Breakfast nice..hot drinks machine not working properly. Pastries could be improved. Selection otherwise very good. Bottom of bath peeling..needs a little tlc..room a little old fashioned but good size and quiet. Ev chargers available. Parking is at extra charge. Pool area was clean and usable but a little dated.

Being a Hilton I expected better, this was our first experience of a Hilton Hotel, it was quite disappointing. The good points were that staff are all lovely friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable, and the room quieter than some other hotels. The tv was a good size too. The bad points sadly go much further. The room and general building was tired. Shower in the bath with no proper pressure. The bathroom was clean but tired and stained in places. The first day we opted not to have housekeeping to try and save the planet a little. But we ran out of complimentary tea bags in our room so the next day we opted in, only to be disappointed to find that the towels had been replaced,the bed made but no replacement tea-bags or tissues and the bin hadnt even been emptied. The charge for parking was a covert charge too it added an extra £25 to a three night stay. There is free off street parking outside the hotel but as a paying guest you should be able to park in the carpark for no extra charge. The restaurant menu was very basic, and expensive, which was another irritant, when you stay in a hotel you dont want to go out to eat and drink, the whole purpose of staying in a hotel is the fact that its all under one roof. We only ate once in the restaurant not because there was anything wrong with the food or because it was so expensive, it was mainly because the menu was so basic and tbh boring. People dont mind expensive if its a decent choice. We shall stick with Accor in future

Ok, generally speaking. The staff were friendly. The food that we had was poor and expensive for what it was. It took ages to come and then when we ordered dessert, it took them 30 mins to tell us that they didn’t have what we ordered. The hotel is generally dated and needs to be updated or better maintained. The room was dirty and the overall condition was a bit tatty. The pool was small and crowded. The changing rooms were very small. It served a purpose to entertain the kids for an hour. In summary, I don’t think we would stay again. Given the choice, we would stay at the Aztec hotel across the road, whose restaurant, bar and pool facilities are much better.

We had a great stay here over the weekend. Couldn’t really fault anything at all? Think the breakfast is a little over priced though at £17.00 each and if we started again certainly wouldn’t opt for this inclusion.
