Best Western Glasgow Hotel

Not happy with the car park my van has quite a dent trying to get out of the car park ..to cramped Its not letting upload a photo on here

Not a lot of parking

Stayed here a few times when it was Devoncove but addition of restaurant has made it even better. We ate there for convenience but it was really good value and quality. Pakora and lamb curry were excellent. Perfect base in Finnieston for lovely bars and cafés and easy walking distance for the SEC/Hydro

They do have a full service restaurant, and I'm sure room service. Spido {sp} as morning maitre d' is very pleasant and accommodating. However mgmt decision to put signs in rooms, indicating a £30 fine for bringing food into the room, seems counter productive to hospitality, and of letting the guests nest.

The hotel was good, very clean, helpful and friendly staff, on-site restaurant was delicious. Parking not so great

Generally happy with everything. Was pleased I was able to put my bag in before check in. Near the OVO stadium and local amenities. Staff pleasant and not imposing. Only disappointment was the toilet flush not working properly. A sorry state for a Toastie in the restaurant but edible. The price not worth it. A disappointing menu. That declared most things you can have if available. That is very negative to read. Other than that thank you for the stay.

This hotel is transitioning, I believe, from being independently owned to being a Best Western. The transition is incomplete. The service was very good and courteous, but the halls are dark, and the room I had was a little cramped. The bathroom was perfectly fine in my opinion, but some travellers might find it dated. My television didn't work properly; I gave up rather than asking for help as it wasn't that important to me. There is a free parking lot in the back, which is great, because street parking in Glasgow is exorbitant! But you have to drive down a narrow unpaved alley to get to it. The hotel is near the university, which is nice. On the other hand, you can walk to the downtown, but it will take you twenty minutes or more. All things considered, I was satisfied, despite some blemishes.

The staff were lovely and the rooms were nice. Breakfast was also really nice and timed well (7am - 10am). However, there were things in the room that didn't work (bulbs, shower didn't drain etc) that would have made the stay perfect. Also, we were not notified that the car park was out of action so we had to spend extra on private car parking as local street parking is £1 per 15 minutes and max stay 3 hours.

We didn’t get the full experience as the property was being renovated, so it was loud and no amenities. The day member of staff was so helpful and polite. Lovely area as we were looking at Glasgow uni.

Because of Expedia there were a few things not quite right potentially it’s because the hotel had changed to best western. For example I was told when I confirmed my booking with the hotel that breakfast wasn’t included even though I had booked a Continental. Hotel honoured this and I had an Hotel honoured this and I had a full English. I was also told there was no parking, however there is a car park, but it’s a first come first served and you need to be able to manoeuvre your car in tight spaces. The Hotel have made the decision to say there isn’t any. The staff were really lovely, all very smiley and asking how your stay was. We were heading to a gig at the Hydro and it was perfect walking distance for there. Hotel offered complementary drinks in the bar, where also did food, but unfortunately we reserved elsewhere prior to arrival. I’d come back again.

The room and service was fine, but had a terrible smell of cigarette smoke despite the window being left open. Got worse during the night. Wouldn’t recommend the rooms in the basement for this reason - unless you are a heavy smoker. A shame.

On arrival all seemed well. They were improving parts of the hotel so a little upheaval is expected. I don’t have a great sense of smell but a strange smell hit me in all areas and my room smelt stale. They had automatic air fresheners around the hotel like you find in bathrooms. These were overpowering but for me they were detrimental, I’m allergic to aerosols and I went into a coughing fit. I informed reception asking if they could disable the one near my room but this was not done. At 0230 I was woken by inconsiderate guests then again at 0400 by my upstairs neighbours. At 0800 I was then woken by a knocking which turned out to be the radiator in my room. I presume that it might need bleeding. All of this was passed to the team. If I had stayed at premier Inn, I would have been offered a full refund at a minimum but they only took a note of my comments. Needless to say I can’t stay there again based on the air fresheners but if you use this many air fresheners then there is a much bigger problem.

Smooth and easy check in. Room was clean, comfortable and warm.

The hotel was fine. We didn't go down for breakfast shop I don't know anything about the food. The worst thing was not having internet - not sure if it was just our room or everyone, but the signal was VERY weak and it cut out completely every couple of minutes. I finally went to a coffeeshop with wifi to get my business done.

Beds aren’t that comfortable. Old tired mattresses. A lot of road noise from front facing rooms. Quality of the breakfast is poor, eggs and sausages were tasteless. Price and location are very good. Is what it is.

The beds are very comfortable

On the internet it said soundproofed rooms. However we could hear next door and above conversation.Their beds squeeking and them moving around. Bathroom was very uncomfortable when using the toilet.

Excellent customer service, especially Lorraine at reception!

Room was available for 1pm but was informed that we could not occupy until a 3pm check in time unless a £10 per hour charge was paid. Returned at 3pm but check-in took 20 minutes as there was a queue with only 1 check in receptionist, hotel manager was in the foyer having a discussion with a guest regards a police matter that should have been held in a private place. Pre authorisation of debit card for extras (£100) was taken as first step of check-in process. No details for my address and contact details for my booking reference so these had to be provided again. As two people were in room requested 2 room cards, this was initially refused but eventually a second keycard was provided, however this was clearly an appeasement as the second keycard did not work and was clearly not coded. Room was sited next to lift which as the single lift for the hotel was very busy and noisy. Bathroom very small and shower difficult to access and required shower screen to be folded/unfolded to access shower. Window view was out into back carpark where bins where located, these were full and overflowing and rats were visible going in and out of bins. Hotel bar was not opened until night porter staff came on shift so not possible to purchase anything from the bar until late evening, no still water available and no spirits. Was informed that only some of the bottled beer was cold as fridges not working properly. Overall was not made to feel welcome and it that repeat business not a priority.

Great front desk staff!

Staff were a bit 'off' on check in, and demanded a 100 quid 'holding deposit' which i have never experienced in any hotel or bnb ive stayed in, ever! Had to be a card, which i couldnt do, so i said it was cash or nothing, she was not really happy with this. I asked why this is, she said its just the management that demand this. Was told there would be a housekeeper that would check my room over before i get my money back...was a desk worker that came uo, and her check was pathetic...looked under our pillows and quilt!! Nit at the furniture or where there could be damage! Parking here is now non existent as they used to have a car park round the back, but this is now not allowed. I gor a nice 50 quid parking ticket for being there in the morning to load the car. Was told there was a car oark 10 minutes walk away, which is the last thing i wanna do after a 4hr drive, and drag all my luggage to a hotel! Not happy, and i wont be staying here again. Was a more welcome hotel before it turned into a Best Western. Also, building works on a hotel next door that they've been working on for a few years, and the builders started on this at half 7 in the morning, so was woke up at this time. This is gonna be going on a long time, so bare that in mind if you're staying Monday to Friday.

Close to local bus stop for convenience to get to bus station for day trips. Multiple eating and drinking establishments within 4 block walking area. We had three people in our room and each person had their own twin bed. Staff was helpful in getting taxi to airport.

Could not have had a better experience. The staff were so welcoming and accomodating. They assisted us in a really early check in. Their breakfast is a traditional scottish breakfast and was delicious. Highly recommend staying here.

Poor guest relations. The hotel fire alarm went off at least 7 times between 1am and 6am on the Saturday night, set off in the basement area and not by customers of the hotel. When I complained that I had not slept it was not taken seriously. Another customer stood behind me in the line at reception also had the same problem and like me his complaint was not taken seriously either.

Everything was great except for the 100gbp hold on my debit card that can take up to 5 days to be refunded.

Hotel ok, but will never stay there again. For the first time ever in a uk hotel when I checked in was told that photo ID compulsory. It was photocopied and put on a shelf behind reception with copies of other people’s driving licenses etc. A bonanza for anyone wanting to do identity theft and an unnecessary invasion of privacy. I had paid in advance but then they didn’t just take a credit card number but presented me with a card machine so that they could reserve £100. Spoke to a couple at breakfast who had trouble finding ID when checking in and we agreed that we wouldn’t stay there again

We booked this hotel for its proximity to the university and byres road. The check in was quick and easy, the room is large and the staff are friendly.

Great location for pubs, restaurants and museums. Small free car park to the rear. Room was good size and clean. Bit of noise from room next door but nothing too bad. Staff were friendly and continental breakfast had a large selection

Best Western was conveniently located just a 10-minute walk from the University of Glasgow. In the area there was several really good restaurants, inlcuding Michelin star mentioned Ox and Finch wich was a dream come true for a hungry traveler. I was staying in a room on the first floor facing the back yard and it was very quiet so no problem there. The bathroom had a funky smell, almost like it had the presence of mold in the floor or underneeth the shower cabin. So had the wentilation on at all times and door closed to not have the smell in the room. Also, the bed linen contained of one layer of some sort of wet proof plastic material, making the bed a little "noisy". Otherwise a great stay for 3 nights on business.

Brillant stay for the price paid - large clean double room with small shower room. Tv, tea coffee facilities and great selection for breakfast that was included in the rate. Very comfortable 1 night stay and bus stop right outside to travel back to central station

Stayed in this hotel for the British Open in Troon. The facility was older, but nice. It is close to the University of Glasgow and museums. It was a 10 minute walk to the Metro to get around Glasgow and near some very cute quaint restaurants within walking distance. No air conditioning which is normal in that area, which was a surprise, but with windows up it was fine. July 2024

We picked this hotel because it was at a reasonable price and a convenient location. The location is actually outstanding, with a huge park nearby, great public transportation, and lots of restaurants. Our room was very comfortable and well furnished. We found the staff to be very helpful. And we had some good meals at the restaurant for competitive prices. We particularly wanted a restaurant with traditional UK menu items. The Scottish salmon, fish and chips, and steak pie were all excellent.

Great, newly renovated hotel. Very comfortable room all round. Very polite and helpful staff. Continental breakfast was very nice. Plenty if choice. Had a meal in their restaurant. Highly recommended. Food was top notch. 10 min wLk to the ov hydro. Thank you for a great stay all round.

Staff are pretty friendly and let me leave my bags behind reception until I returned in the evening. I thought I had breakfast included however was charged £15 for a very mediocre breakfast. Food wasn’t hot. Walls are paper thin. Couldn’t sleep well because of drunk guests next door making Noise.
